Barden will take a physical with Giants team doctors on Thursday, and if all goes well, he could sign a one-year deal before the end of the day, the New York Daily News reports.

Analysis: In four seasons with the Giants prior to becoming an unrestricted free agent this offseason, Barden caught just 29 passes for 394 yards and no touchdowns. The 27-year-old wideout did show some life last season with a nine-catch, 138-yard effort against the Panthers in September, but little materialized in terms of interest in Barden when free agency opened. It sounds like he may be back for another season with the Giants, who are not said to be worried about the absence of Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks from OTAs.

Lewis has been waived by the Browns, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Analysis: Cleveland's signing of quarterback Brian Hoyer last week set the stage for Lewis getting the axe. The 25-year-old signal caller made his first career start in Week 17 of last season, completing 22-of-32 passes for 204 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed that Crabtree indeed suffered a torn right Achilles tendon and underwent surgery Wednesday to repair it, the San Jose Mercury News reports.

Analysis: The report adds that Crabtree suffered a complete tear of his Achilles, while noting that Harbaugh indicated that the wideout is not expected to miss the entire 2013 season. That said, Harbaugh declined to give a timetable for Crabtree's return, with a late-season return probably representing a best-case scenario here.
