Avant has spent practice time on defense, CSN Philadelphia's Geoff Mosher reports.
Analysis: Avant's roster spot has been assumed to be safe, but it's probably not a good sign that he's getting looks at a position other than receiver. Given his lack of speed, Avant was almost certainly getting snaps of safety, but the team already has all of Kenny Phillips, Patrick Chung, Nate Allen, Kurt Coleman, Earl Wolff and Colt Anderson at that spot, and Avant won't make the roster as a backup safety on a five-year, $18 million contract. With all of Arrelious Benn, Damaris Johnson, Greg Salas and Riley Cooper behind Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson, Avant's days could be numbered in Philadelphia.

Freeney agreed to a two-year deal with San Diego on Saturday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
Analysis: Freeney is declining at a significant pace as he heads into his age-33 season, but he'll probably start anyway for a talent-deficient San Diego squad attempting to replace Melvin Ingram (ACL). It might not be pretty, though, because Freeney had a remarkably weak total of just 12 tackles and five sacks as a 14-game starter in 2013, and he probably won't be an IDP option in any scenario with a linebacker designation.

Clayton announced his retirement Wednesday, the Baltimore Sun reports.
Analysis: A former first-round pick by the Ravens in 2005, Clayton was one of the few top picks that didn't pan out during the Ozzie Newsome era. Clayton's productivity was inhibited by a rash of injuries, resulting in him suiting up in just seven games over the last three seasons. The 30-year-old retires with 260 receptions, 3,448 yards and 14 touchdowns to his name.

Bullock said he's 100 percent recovered from the groin tear that cost him all of his rookie season.
Analysis: Prior to suffering the injury, Bullock was projected by many to rank among the league's top scoring kickers, if only because of his being flanked by a top-tier offense that would theoretically present many opportunities to rack up points. Despite the injury setback last season, a similar outlook beacons for Bullock in 2013 if he proves accurate in training camp.

Draughn has been sidelined during OTAs with a sports hernia, the Kansas City Star reports.
Analysis: Draughn performed some good work as backup to Jamaal Charles last season, racking up 233 yards on a decent 3.9 YPC. He'll likely need to prove he's fully healthy by the time training camp rolls around if he plans on staving off rookie Knile Davis for the top backup role in 2013.
