Hunt could take on a larger role in the passing game in 2018, Terez A. Paylor of The Kansas City Star reports. "We probably need to expand on [Hunt's] role in the pass game," Reid said. "A healthy [Spencer] Ware would be a nice problem to have there. They're best friends, and that would be a nice problem to have."
Analysis: Hunt's pass-catching potential was a major draw after he caught 41 balls for 403 yards his senior season at Toledo, and he made good on that promise by catching 53 of 63 targets for 455 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie, despite losing much of the passing-down work to Charcandrick West. With Spencer Ware expected to return from an ACL injury that wiped out his entire 2017 season, the Chiefs could opt to rest Hunt on early downs instead of passing downs, which could in turn make West…read more

Hunt rushed 11 times for 42 yards and a touchdown while catching all three of his targets for five yards in Saturday's 22-21, wild-card round loss to the Titans.
Analysis: Hunt opened the scoring with a one-yard plunge, but failed to get much going after that as his team blew a 21-3 halftime lead. The rookie started the season hot and nabbed the league rushing title, but he flamed out when needed most. Still, Hunt's going to cost a hefty price in redraft leagues next year and makes for a wonderful keeper given his cheap going rate in most drafts prior to this campaign.

Hunt nabbed the rushing title for the 2017 season with a 35-yard touchdown run during the first minute of Sunday's 27-24 win in Denver.
Analysis: Hunt wasn't expected to play at all in the Chiefs' regular-season finale, like top skill-position talents Alex Smith, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. However, reserve running back Charcandrick West was unable to get over an illness and was deemed inactive Week 17, forcing Hunt to remain active alongside Akeem Hunt (shoulder) and fullback Anthony Sherman. With his first and only carry of the game, Kareem Hunt dashed to the house to set a solid footing for an eventual win, and secured the rushing…read more

Active but not guaranteed to play Week 17
With fellow running back Charcandrick West (illness) out in Week 17, Hunt is officially active against the Broncos.
Analysis: As per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com, head coach Andy Reid's original intention had been to sit Hunt alongside fellow front-line players Alex Smith, Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. That notion essentially evaporated once West's illness left the Chiefs with Akeem Hunt (shoulder) and fullback Anthony Sherman as the only viable backfield candidates. Kareem Hunt's active status doesn't equate to a guarantee he'll log any carries, but he'll be in uniform and available should injury strike Akeem Hunt at…read more

Charcandrick West (illness) won't play Sunday against the Broncos, leaving Kareem Hunt and Akeem Hunt (shoulder) as the Chiefs' options at running back in Week 17.
Analysis: As a result, it looks like both Kareem and Akeem Hunt will probably be in uniform for Sunday's 4:25 ET kickoff, but with the Chiefs locked into the AFC's No. 4 playoff seed, key players like Kareem Hunt may see limited (or no) action in Week 17. For what it's worth, Kareem Hunt trails Todd Gurley (who is not expected to play Sunday) by just 13 yards for the league lead in rushing. In any case, given the context of what Kansas City is playing for, we'd expect Akeem Hunt to pace the team's…read more

Likely out Sunday
Hunt is expected to sit out Sunday in Denver, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: After head coach Andy Reid decided to name Patrick Mahomes the starting quarterback for the regular-season finale Wednesday, the writing was on the wall for all of the Chiefs' primary skill-position players. With Tyreek Hill (non-injury) also ruled out, Hunt is poised to join him, along with Alex Smith and Travis Kelce. In place of Hunt, backfield reps will likely be split between Akeem Hunt (shoulder) and Charcandrick West (illness), who are both questionable for Sunday's contest.

Hunt carried 29 times for 91 yards and a touchdown and brought in four of seven targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 29-13 win over the Dolphins.
Analysis: Hunt played the role of a true workhorse back for the third straight week, with his carry total Sunday equaling the career high he'd established against the Texans in Week 5. The rookie also got into the end zone on the ground for the third straight week when he went in from a yard out with 3:37 remaining the first half. Hunt remained involved in the passing game for the fourth consecutive game as well and should once again play a sizable role against the Broncos in Week 17.

Hunt carried 24 times for 155 yards and a touchdown Saturday against the Chargers. He also caught seven of nine targets for 51 yards in the 30-13 win.
Analysis: Hunt gashed the San Diego defense repeatedly, posting an average of 6.5 yards per carry while posting his second-highest rushing total of the season. He also set a new season high in receptions, recording a three-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter before adding a five-yard rushing score in the fourth. Hunt's production hit an obvious lull toward the middle of the campaign, but he's now topped 130 scrimmage yards in back-to-back games and has three touchdowns in that span to snap a…read more

Hunt rushed 25 times for 116 yards and a touchdown while catching all three targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 26-15 win over the Raiders.
Analysis: Hunt's first touchdown since Week 3 was as easy as it gets, as he scored on 1st-and-goal from inside the one-yard line after a Travis Kelce touchdown was overturned. That score helped the hosts build a 16-0 lead at the half and a 26-0 advantage through three quarters, so Hunt got plenty of volume on the ground. The rookie finished with his third highest career rushing total while getting the second most carries he's ever seen. With Kansas City finally getting back into the win column, Hunt will…read more

Hunt rushed nine times for 40 yards while catching three of five targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 38-31 loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Hunt didn't get many touches in a game that saw Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce each catch a pair of touchdowns. The rookie running back hasn't topped 80 yards from scrimmage in any of his past five appearances after breaking triple-digits in each of his first seven.

Hunt rushed 11 times for 17 yards while catching his lone target for nine more in Sunday's 16-10 loss to Buffalo.
Analysis: Hunt gained just four yards on five first-half carries and wasn't much better in the second half. The talented rookie's 26 yards from scrimmage were easily a career low after he had topped 60 in each of his first 10 appearances. Hunt's recent decline has coincided with an overall dip in effectiveness for the once-dominant Kansas City offense, and after scoring six touchdowns in his first three career games, he's now been held out of the end zone in every subsequent contest.

Hunt rushed 18 times for 73 yards and added three catches for four yards on four targets in Sunday's 12-9 overtime loss to the Giants.
Analysis: The rookie running back continued his recent slump despite the favorable matchup, failing to crack triple-digit rushing yards or score a rushing touchdown for the fifth consecutive game. His recent downturn comes after Hunt topped 100 yards in four of his first five appearances, while scoring on the ground four times over that span. Hunt had an 18-yard run and a 12-yard catch wiped away by penalties on the same first-quarter drive, contributing to his mediocre performance in a game in which…read more

Hunt carried nine times for 37 yards and hauled four of five targets for an additional 24 yards in Sunday's 28-17 loss to the Cowboys.
Analysis: Hunt mustered 4.1 yards per carry against a middling run defense, but he wasn't able to get much going outside of a 19-yard gain in the first half. His team trailed throughout the contest, which is partially to blame for his season-low of 13 touches. Hunt eclipsed 100 scrimmage yards in his first seven games, but he's failed to do so in the last two and hasn't found the end zone since Week 3. Bottled up in Monday's win
Hunt rushed 22 times for 46 yards and caught three of five targets for 22 yards in Monday night's 29-19 win over the Broncos.
Analysis: Hunt was stifled by a swarming Broncos defense, finishing with season-lows in yards per carry (2.1) and total yards (68). In fact, Monday marked the first time in the rookie's career that he didn't top 100 yards of offense. While that evidences the huge impact Hunt has made through eight games, fantasy owners may be anxious for Hunt to find the end zone, as he still hasn't hit pay dirt since Week 3. Following Monday's down performance, Hunt will aim to bounce back versus the Cowboys this Sunday.

Hunt rushed 18 times for 87 yards and brought in all four targets for 30 yards in Thursday's 31-30 loss to the Raiders.
Analysis: Quarterback Alex Smith and the air attack took center stage Thursday, but Hunt played a solid complementary role. The rookie's final line represented a strong bounce-back rushing effort after he'd managed a season-low 21 yards on the ground versus the Steelers last Sunday. Hunt also continued to play a consistent role in the passing game, with Thursday's reception tally marking the fourth time in seven contests he's posted at least four catches. Hunt carried nine times for 21 yards and caught five of six targets for 89 yards in Sunday's 19-13 loss to the Steelers.
Analysis: Although Hunt fell a full 60 yards short of his previous low rushing total, he made a terrific contribution as a pass catcher to finish with 110 scrimmage yards. The poor performance on the ground came as something of a surprise against a Pittsburgh run defense that has struggled this season, but the dynamic rookie's ability to contribute in multiple areas extended his streak of 100-plus scrimmage yards to six straight games. This characteristic affords Hunt a high floor for production on a…read more

Hunt carried 29 times for 107 yards during Sunday's 42-34 victory over the Texans. He also secured three of four targets for an additional nine yards.
Analysis: Though he topped 100 yards for the fourth time in five games, Sunday easily marked Hunt's least-efficient outing of the season given his 3.7 yards per carry average. Regardless, he's now joined Adrian Peterson as the only rookies in NFL history to record at least 100 yards from scrimmage in five straight games to start a season, according to ESPN Stats & Info, and is on pace to finish the year with over 1,948 rushing yards, 531 receiving yards and 19 total touchdowns. Tops 100 yards in victory
Hunt rushed 21 times for 101 yards and caught all four of his targets for 20 yards in Monday night's 29-20 win over the Redskins.
Analysis: Hunt failed to find the end zone for the first time in his young career, but thanks to a season-high 25 touches, the rookie was able to top 100 yards of offense for a fourth straight game. On the back of his third 100-yard rushing performance, Hunt now boasts 140 more yards on the ground than any player league-wide. A fantasy stud out of the gate, Hunt will aim to keep his momentum going in Week 5 against a tough Texans defense.

Hunt carried 17 times for 172 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Chargers. He also caught his only target for a 12-yard gain in the 24-10 loss.
Analysis: Already with a solid game in hand, Hunt provided another explosive highlight with a 69-yard touchdown run to put the game away in the fourth quarter. He took on a true workhorse role in this one, touching the ball 20 times while ceding just two carries to other Chiefs running backs. Hunt carried the ball 13 times for 81 yards and two scores and added 28 yards on three catches in Sunday's 27-20 victory over the Eagles.
Analysis: Through more than half of the game, it appeared that Hunt's opening-night dominance might have been beginner's luck. Then he took a draw up middle for a 53-yard score and never looked back, finding the end zone again on a gritty two-yard carry late in the game. Record-setting performance in pro debut
Hunt carried 17 times for 148 yards and a touchdown and secured all five of his targets for 98 yards and two additional scores in Thursday's 42-27 season-opening win over the Patriots. He also lost a fumble on his first career carry.
Analysis: Hunt's NFL career could hardly have gotten off to a more auspicious start, as he fumbled on his first career carry after being hit by Jordan Richards. However, the Toledo product made up for his early gaffe in spectacular fashion to say the least, capping off three subsequent drives with a three-yard touchdown reception, a 78-yard touchdown catch and finally, a four-yard touchdown rush to extend the Chiefs' lead to 34-27 in the fourth quarter. Set for feature duty
Hunt will be the No. 1 running back in Thursday's regular-season opener at New England, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Hunt elevated to the gig when Spencer Ware tore the PCL and LCL in his right knee in preseason Week 3. With Charcandrick West and C.J. Spiller the only other RBs on the roster, Hunt is the clear candidate to replace Ware and receive the lion's share of touches. However, offensive coordinator Matt Nagy mentioned recently that all three will have roles in the offense, so Hunt may not uphold his end of the bargain to start the season. In the end, though, Hunt will be a constant in the backfield,…read more
