Drops weight over winter
Prescott said Tuesday that he has lost about 10 pounds since the end of last season, Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Listed at 6-foot-2 and 238 pounds, Prescott doesn't consider this to be a significant change, noting that he always drops a little bit of weight during the offseason and plans to get back to around 230 to 235 pounds by Week 1. The more relevant offseason change occurred in the Dallas wideout group, with the team swapping out Dez Bryant and Brice Butler for Allen Hurns and Deonte Thompson. While it may be a clear downgrade in terms of reputation, Prescott and Bryant rarely seemed to be on the…read more

Prescott completed 17 of 30 passes for 179 yards and a touchdown while running the ball twice for 16 yards in Sunday's 6-0 win over the Eagles.
Analysis: His 20-yard TD strike to Brice Butler early in the fourth quarter accounted for the only points in a game that meant little to either team. Prescott finished his second NFL campaign with fewer passing yards, fewer touchdowns, a lower completion percentage, a lower YPA and more INTs than he did as a rookie, but his rushing contributions helped keep his fantasy value afloat. The Cowboys will likely make it a priority to generate more of a vertical threat in 2018, but as yet Prescott hasn't…read more

Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett confirmed Wednesday that Prescott and the team's other healthy starters would play Sunday against the Eagles, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Analysis: The Cowboys were officially eliminated from playoff contention with their Week 16 loss to the Seahawks, with Prescott's poor play during the game contributing heavily to his club's demise. Though the team has little at stake in Week 17, head coach Jason Garrett evidently wants the Cowboys to close the season on a high note, so the team's key contributors will suit up like usual. After posting a 16:4 TD:INT ratio and 7.0 YPA while adding four scores on the ground through Dalllas' first eight…read more

Prescott completed 21-of-34 passes for 182 yards and two interceptions against Seattle on Sunday, adding four carries for 21 yards.
Analysis: Prescott didn't handle the poor circumstances well, but he still had most things working against him here. As has been the case all year and even before it, Dallas' pass catchers create very little separation and lack talent generally, especially as Dez Bryant's physical decline pronounces itself more clearly. Elite left tackle Tyron Smith (back/knee) left very early in this contest, too, making the pass blocking a liability from that point. All the dynamics working against Prescott will remain…read more

Prescott completed 18 of 27 passes for 212 yards and two interceptions during Sunday's 20-17 victory over Oakland. He also rushed six times for 32 yards and a touchdown.
Analysis: Prescott's rushing acumen -- and his nose for the end zone in particular -- continues to aid his statistical floor on days he may struggle passing. This came into play Sunday, when he threw two interceptions against an Oakland secondary that had previously only recorded two interceptions. He's now up to 320 rushing yards with six scores while fumbling at a much lower rate compared to his rookie season. Moving forward, Prescott should enjoy the return of running back Ezekiel Elliott…read more

Prescott completed 20 of 30 pass attempts for 332 yards and three touchdowns Sunday against the Giants. He also carried six times for 13 yards in the 30-10 win.
Analysis: Prescott completed 67 percent of his passes while posting an impressive 11.1 yards per attempt. He produced a career high in passing yardage thanks in part to three completions of at least 50 yards. Two of Prescott's touchdowns came on long plays -- a 50-yard strike to Dez Bryant and an 81-yard catch and run by Rod Smith -- with the other coming via a 20-yard connection to Jason Witten. The second-year signal caller committed eight turnovers compared to zero touchdowns during the team's recent…read more

No longer bothered by hand
Speaking after Wednesday's practice, Prescott confirmed that his bruised right hand is no longer an issue, Rob Phillips of the Cowboys' official site reports.
Analysis: Prescott was bothered by the injury during the Cowboys' 38-14 win over the Redskins in Week 13, completing 11 of 22 passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns without missing a snap. He acknowledged that there was some swelling, but the long rest between games seems to have worked in his favor. Prescott was a full practice participant Wednesday and said he won't have any limitations for Sunday's road game against the struggling Giants.

Set to play Sunday
Prescott, who bruised his throwing hand in the Cowboys' Week 13 win over the Redskins, will play Sunday against the Giants, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: According to Jori Epstein of The Dallas Morning News, Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said that Prescott still may be inhibited when it comes to gripping the ball, but the injury isn't expected to impact the quarterback's throwing. Prescott was aided by the Cowboys having played Thursday last week, giving him a full nine days to heal up from the injury, which ultimately didn't prevent him from missing any snaps in the win over Washington. The 2-10 Giants, who have had trouble stopping the…read more

Downplays hand issue
Prescott, who was diagnosed with a bruised right hand during the second quarter of Thursday's 38-14 win over the Redskins, doesn't believe the injury will present any issues going forward, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. "It just swelled up," Prescott said of his hand. "I was fine. Got great trainers and doctors, wrapped it up, fixed it up, and we're good to go."
Analysis: Prescott hurt his hand on an option toss play, but stayed in the contest for the remainder of the drive before receiving treatment on the sideline. While the Cowboys defense was on the field, Prescott underwent X-rays on the hand that came back negative, and received added time to heal up when Ryan Switzer returned a punt 83 yards for a touchdown. Prescott returned to play all the Cowboys' offensive snaps the rest of the way, finishing the game with 102 passing yards, two touchdowns and 28…read more

Prescott completed 11 of 22 passes for 102 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in Thursday's 38-14 win over the Redskins. He also rushed five times for 28 yards.
Analysis: Prescott played through a right hand injury that he suffered in the second quarter that as necessitated X-rays that came back negative, as per Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. Although he experienced notable swelling, he never missed a play, as Ryan Switzer's 83-yard punt return touchdown gave the Cowboys' offense some extra time off the field and allowed Prescott to get back to the sideline. The ailment may have limited the second-year quarterback some, as he generated his lowest passing yardage total…read more

Prescott completed 20 of 27 passes for 179 yards and two interceptions in Thursday's 28-6 loss to the Chargers.
Analysis: He did have a long TD run called back due to a holding penalty, but otherwise Prescott was once again ineffective, and the Cowboys' offense seems to have fallen completely apart without Ezekiel Elliott. The second-year QB will get a few extra days to try and figure out how to turn things around before Week 13's home tilt against Washington.

Prescott completed 18 of 31 passes for 145 yards and three interceptions during Sunday's 37-9 loss to the Eagles. He also carried twice for 10 yards while losing one fumble.
Analysis: It was an ugly day for the Cowboys. Prescott -- accompanied by a leaky offensive line sans 2016 All Pro tackle Tyron Smith (groin) -- was square in the center of the team's offensive struggles. His three interceptions mark the most he's thrown in a single game throughout Prescott's young career but aren't the only turnovers he committed Sunday, as Prescott also had a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. Perhaps the offense is struggling to find an identity in life without Ezekiel Elliott…read more

Under constant pressure in loss
Prescott completed 20 of 30 pass attempts for 176 yards and rushed six times for 42 yards and a touchdown in the Cowboys 27-7 loss to Atlanta. He also lost two fumbles.
Analysis: Missing key cogs on offense and defense, this game was a mess for Dallas on both sides of the ball. The absence of OT Tyron Smith (groin) particularly affected Prescott, as the second-year quarterback was sacked eight times in addition to the two lost fumbles. It was the second time in the last three contests that the Mississippi State product was held without a touchdown pass. Nevertheless, his rushing ability can always bail his fantasy owners out, as it did on Sunday. He continues to be a…read more

Prescott completed 21 of 33 pass attempts for 249 yards and two touchdowns Sunday against the Chiefs. He also carried three times for 27 yards and a touchdown in the 28-17 win.
Analysis: Prescott completed 64 percent of his passes and connected with Cole Beasley for short touchdowns in the first and fourth quarters. He also made an impact as a rusher, recording his second-highest yardage total on the ground while scoring on a 10-yard scamper to cap off a long drive just before the half. Prescott has eclipsed 252 passing yards just once this season, but his ability to take care of the ball -- just four turnovers though eight games -- and his contributions as a rusher have kept…read more
