When asked if Griffin (knee) might be ready for training camp, coach Mike Shanahan said Thursday, "we're hoping (he will be). He's working extremely hard."
Analysis: TThat's a goal echoed by Griffin, who indicated that his knee feels great and he was able to throw, while doing some running and planting off his right knee (albeit at less than full speed) Thursday. Meanwhile, neither Griffin nor Shanahan is prepared to say that the QB will be able to suit up for the team's season opener, though Griffin's progress thus far suggests that's within the realm of possibility, barring any setbacks.

Robert Griffin: Gets Some Throwing In
Though Griffin (knee) did not participate in the Redskins' OTAs on Thursday, he was able to do some throwing, the Washington Post reports. The report adds that Griffin was also able to do some running near the beginning of Thursday's practice.
Analysis: Griffin, who was sporting a brace on his right knee Thursday, is recovering from January surgery to repair tears in his ACL and LCL. According to the report, his throws "were relatively crisp," with the QB appearing to be able to plant on his right leg, albeit not at top speed. When interviewed afterward, Griffin reiterated that his goal is to be ready to play by Week 1, but acknowledged that he will not rush back just to meet that target.

Griffin (knee) is ahead of schedule in his rehab, but general manager Bruce Allen said it's "too early to tell" if he will be ready for training camp, The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: At this point, any timetable given for Griffin's return is just speculation. There should be a better idea of his status once he undergoes a physical on July 25, which is the start date of training camp.

Griffin (knee) says that he has learned from his "mistakes," noting that he does not plan to push himself to play the next time he suffers an injury, ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Griffin, who is still recovering from a knee injury that he aggravated in the playoffs, acknowledged that he is now inclined to take himself out of the game the next time he suffers a troubling injury, as opposed to trying to play through it. In any case, we will continue to monitor the status of Griffin, who underwent offseason surgery to repair a torn ACL and LCL, but we'd expect that both the QB and the Redskins will refrain from rushing his return to game action.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan issued a statement on Griffin (knee) saying, "he works so hard that if hard work had anything to do with the recovery, he'd set a record," the Washington Times reports.
Analysis: This comes as a correction to a statement made earlier this month where Shanahan said Griffin would "set a record for coming back because that's how hard he works." The outlook is still optimistic on Griffin's recovery, it's just being made clear that Washington does not want to rush their franchise quarterback into action before his body is ready.

Griffin (knee) is expected to receive clearance to resume running on the field within the next week, the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: That's according to Griffin's father, with the QB thought to be ahead of schedule in his recovery from his January 9 surgery to repair the ACL, LCL and meniscus in his right knee. Griffin's stated goal remains a return to the field by the start of the 2013 season, but he has also noted that he won't rush things on that front to the point where he might jeopardize his long-term prospects.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said Monday that Griffin (knee) remains ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation, but added that he has "no idea" whether Griffin will be ready for Week 1, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: The muscles in Griffin's knee are said to be stronger than expected at this stage, but Shanahan indicated he won't know where Griffin truly stands until training camp opens in July. The 23-year-old signal caller has reportedly been working out six-to-seven hours per day at a team facility.

Though Griffin still aims to be ready to start the 2013 season, he cautions that he will not compromise his career by rushing his recovery from his knee injury, the Washington Post reports.

The Redskins are reportedly encouraged enough with Griffin's recovery from knee surgery to date to believe that he has a chance to start the team's 2013 season opener, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Analysis: Griffin underwent surgery last month to repair a torn ACL and LCL that he suffered in the Redskins' playoff loss to the Seahawks on January 6. The Redskins like what they have seen from Griffin so far as he rehabs and while the team certainly won't rush their star QB back, Adrian Peterson's amazing recovery from major knee surgery last year suggests that if things continue to go well, then there really is a legitimate chance that Griffin could be behind center in Week 1.

Robert Griffin: Slated to Open Camp on PUP List
Griffin (knee) is expected to open training camp on the PUP list, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Analysis: This comes as little surprise, as Griffin had surgery to repair his ACL and LCL on Jan. 9th and faces a lengthy rehab process. The NFL reportedly questioned the Redskins about when Griffin would be ready to play, so they could better schedule nationally televised games, but the only near certainty is that Griffin will open camp on the PUP list. Griffin is shooting to make it back in time for the regular season opener, but if the team adds him to the PUP list, they will be able to bring in another quarterback for camp.

Dr. James Andrews, who operated on Griffin's knee Wednesday, said, "[Griffin] had successful knee surgery early this morning. He had a direct repair of his LCL and a re-do of his previous ACL reconstruction. We expect a full recovery and it is everybody's hope and belief that due to [Griffin]'s high motivation, he will be ready for the 2013 season," NFL.com reports.
Analysis: Griffin's surgery was deemed a success, and he'll now face a long road of rehabilitation to prepare for next year. Adrian Peterson changed everyone's preconceptions about a player recovering from major knee surgery this season, so it's no longer hard to believe that Griffin could be ready for the start of next season after such a major procedure.

Robert Griffin: (Knee) Surgery A Success
Griffin underwent successful surgery to repair both the LCL and ACL in his right knee Wednesday, Mark Maske of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: While the extent of Griffin's injury remains somewhat uncertain, it does not appear doctors found anything surprising during the process. Griffin will need an intense rehab to be ready for the beginning of next season, but it appears both team and player will move forward with that goal in mind.

However, the report states "...a person with knowledge of the situation said the ligament needs to be stronger." It's uncertain if the ligament "...could be repaired, or if it would be completely replaced."
Analysis: It appears there are several different reports floating around, this one sounds a little more optimistic. Regardless, Griffin will spend the offseason rehabbing with the hope of being ready for the regular season. Earlier reports stated an expected 6-8 month recovery time which falls around the start of the 2013 season.

Robert Griffin: Complete Tear of ACL and LCL
Griffin will undergo total reconstructive surgery on his right knee for a complete tear of the ACL and LCL, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports. Griffin suffered a complete tear of the patella graft that was used to repair his torn ACL suffered at Baylor in 2009.
Analysis: Griffin will need six to eight months of time to recover and could be ready for the start of the regular season, according to the report. However, we'll likely get a better timetable one he undergoes surgery. A full tear of his ACL puts his 2013 fantasy value in doubt as it's not clear he'll be ready when the season begins and he may not be the running threat he was in his rookie season.

Robert Griffin: Headed For Surgery
Griffin will have surgery later this week for what's been officially determined as a torn LCL in his right knee. During the surgery, doctors should be able to learn if there is further damage to his knee, particularly his ACL, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Analysis: Let the debate continue as to how the Redskins handled Griffin's injury during the team's playoff loss to the Seahawks, but we now know the injury is somewhat serious and no one's going to be let off easy with a mild medical report, as this news proves at least some of the initial fears are founded. However, no one knows yet what damage is done to the quarterback's ACL. We should be able to get a firmer timetable for his return later in the week.

Robert Griffin: MRI Implies Partial Ligament Tears
Griffin underwent an MRI on Monday that indicated there were partial tears of the ACL and LCL in his right knee, the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: The Redskins are seeking Dr. James Andrews' interpretation of the results Tuesday for additional information, however, because it's difficult to determine from an MRI whether tears are current or are merely leftover indicators from previous tears. Griffin suffered a torn ACL in the same knee in his second year at Baylor and suffered LCL damage earlier this year, so the immediate results of the MRI were potentially ambiguous. Andrews' input should provide some closure on the matter, though surgery may be necessary to fully understand Griffin's injury.

Griffin (knee) completed 10-of-19 passes for 84 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: Griffin, who was clearly hobbled by his previous knee injury, was forced from the game after aggravating the injury midway through the fourth quarter. His willingness to play was admirable, but he was clearly putting himself in danger by playing through the pain. Analysis: Griffin's four rushing yards marked a season low and just the third time this year that he failed to surpass 10 yards on the ground. Meanwhile, Alfred Morris carried the rushing load (22 carries for 91 yards), which will likely be the case once again in Week 17 to ensure Griffin doesn't suffer a setback heading into the playoffs, if in fact Washington can defeat Dallas on Sunday night.

Robert Griffin: (Knee) Starting Sunday
Griffin (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Eagles.
Analysis: Griffin came into Sunday as probable, after practicing all week, and was cleared by doctors Saturday. Given the huge investment the Redskins put into Griffin, it's unlikely they would be playing him unless they were sure he could compete at a high level and not risk re-injury. Analysis: Griffin participated in practice all week and was listed as probable, so the stamp of approval from doctors adds further validation to the belief that he'll be back in action Sunday. Considering how prized an investment Griffin is, it's unlikely the Redskins would allow him to return if he weren't at or close to 100 percent. Robert Griffin: (Knee) Will Practice Wednesday
Griffin (knee) is going to practice Wednesday but will not be put into a game until doctors clear him, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Analysis: While the Redskins coaching staff is willing to start Griffin even if he's not 100 percent healthy, the team is less inclined to do so if it is determined that Griffin will have a greater risk of further injuring his lateral collateral ligament. The Redskins have already prepared two different offensive game plans tailored to each quarterback's skill set in the event Griffin is not cleared to play.

RG3 status up to doctors
NFL.com's Albert Breer cited a team source Saturday in reporting that Griffin's status will come down to the Redskins doctor's assessment. According to Breer, Washington is willing to start Griffin at less than 100 percent in Cleveland, and it's a near certainty he would be less than 100 percent healthy if he played. What the coaches aren't going to do, per the source, is play him if there's risk of further injury to his lateral collateral ligament. FULL REPORT
Analysis: Regardless of his health, RG3 faces a Browns defense which has only allowed two passing scores their last three games.

Griffin (knee) was limited to individual drills and took no first-team reps in practice this week, NFL.com reports.

While Griffin was upgraded to a full practice Friday, Kirk Cousins has taken all of the first-team reps this week and could make his first career start if Griffin isn't ready.

Robert Griffin: (Knee) Questionable Against CLE
Griffin (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against Cleveland, Redskins.com reports.
Analysis: As previously implied, the Redskins won't make an announcement until Sunday. Griffin seems slightly closer to probable than doubtful since he was a limited practice participant Wednesday and Thursday and a full participant Friday, but his owners won't find any relief until game day. Luckily for Griffin's owners, Washington has an early game.

Robert Griffin: To Wear Knee Brace Sunday

Analysis: During the session, Griffin mentioned, "I did enough [in practice] to give myself the confidence to push it tomorrow and Friday." Furthermore, he said that "planting and throwing is not a problem." While he was able to test his wicked cuts and other movements on the run, there is no way one can simulate game speed, which will be the ultimate test if in fact he suits up in Week 15. Robert Griffin: (Knee) Practices Wednesday
Griffin (knee) participated Wednesday during the portion of practice open to reporters, ESPN reports.
Analysis: Griffin, who was seen on the practice field wearing a helmet and jersey, partook in a full stretching routine and high-stepped and moved laterally without any apparent complications. However, during throwing drills, he occasionally hopped slightly after a handful of passes. Since he wore sweatpants, it was unclear if he was wearing a brace, but the progress he's made in just three short days is something to behold. It's difficult to speculate too much on his availability for Sunday's contest versus Cleveland, so his fantasy owners should continue to monitor his status as the weekend approaches.

Though receiver Pierre Garcon suggested Tuesday while on ESPN that Kirk Cousins was in line to start at QB against Cleveland on Sunday, the Redskins have not ruled out the possibility that Griffin could play through his mild knee sprain, the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: In fact, when questioned further about the possibility of Cousins starting, Garcon backpedaled a bit, saying: "We have to prepare for the worst." In other news, Griffin's father indicated Tuesday that he expects his son to play this week. Either way, it's important to note that no official decision on Griffin's Week 15 status has been made public, so we will continue to view him as questionable, with his situation worth monitoring closely in the coming days.

Teammate Pierre Garcon said Tuesday that he expects Griffin (knee) to miss Sunday's game against the Browns, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Analysis: Garcon made the statement in an interview on SportsCenter, saying that he expects Kirk Cousins to start in Griffin's place. "We have to play well around Kirk so Kirk doesn't feel like he has to save the team and help him to be a comfortable as possible," Garcon said. ESPN studio host Bram Weinstein said "I hope we didn't give away too much there. We think Kirk is starting this week. We'll see if Robert can." Garcon interrupted Weinstein, saying, "We have to prepare for the worst." While this is far from official, as it's coming from Garcon, it is worrisome nonetheless, especially for those in the fantasy playoffs. Robert Griffin: Sprained LCL
Griffin has a Grade 1 sprain of the LCL in his right knee, but he has no structural damage to the rest of the knee, according to the Redskins' official Twitter account.
Analysis: Coach Mike Shanahan relayed the news during a news conference Monday, during which he said Griffin's right ACL is healthy. While Shanahan considers Griffin's status going forward as "day-by-day," he is also unsure if he'll be able to participate in practice Wednesday. Luckily for Griffin, a Grade 1 sprain is the lowest classification for this type of injury, but his owners will want to keep a close eye on his status throughout the week. RG3 among top rated passers
As Daniel Jeremiah notes in his "Who Has the Edge?" report, "Griffin is currently the NFL's second-rated passer and he's also rushed for more than 700 yards. Griffin completed 13-of-21 passes for 163 yards with one touchdown and added five rushes for 72 yards Monday against the Giants.
Analysis: It was a relatively quiet night for RGIII who's main "highlight" came on a fumble that was knocked loose in the air and fell right into Joshua Morgan's hands which turned into a 13-yard touchdown scamper. Unfortunately that will probably get more play than the impressive 12-play fourth quarter drive that led to the eventual game winning touchdown. Normally a daunting task, the Ravens are up next on a short week, however, the Baltimore defense has not been the units of the past and rank in the bottom quarter of the league in total yards allowed per game.

RG3 practices, expected to play vs. Vikings
Griffin practiced again Thursday without any setbacks from the concussion that knocked him out of Sunday's loss to Atlanta Falcons. RG3 hasn't been cleared for contact, but The Washington Post reported he took 75 to 80 percent of the session's snaps, down slightly from his normal 85 percent. FULL STORY
Analysis: Barring any setbacks, RG3 owners should have him ready to go against the Vikings. With limited practice and against a Minnesota defense which is ranked seventh overall, temper expectations for the dynamic quarterback this week.

Robert Griffin: (Concussion) Practices Again Thursday
Coach Mike Shanahan said that Griffin (concussion) didn't appear to have any setbacks or issues as went went through practice Thursday, the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Griffin, who will be evaluated by team doctors before he is cleared to practice Friday, has yet to be cleared for Sunday's game against the Vikings, but things look positive on that front for now. "He's been great in practice this week," offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said of Griffin, adding that he expects the quarterback to be a go this week.

Robert Griffin: (Concussion) Symptom-Free Wednesday
Griffin (concussion) has not been cleared for contact or full participation in practice, but he is symptom-free and intends to be ready for Minnesota on Sunday, the Redskins' official site reports.
Analysis: Griffin was able to practice Wednesday, which is a great sign in his recovery from the Sean Weatherspoon hit that knocked him out of Week 5's loss to Atlanta. Following practice, he said, "Practice went good. I felt sharp. I felt good – no symptoms of a concussion or anything like that, no dizziness, or off balance, or things of that nature. I feel good." It appears that he is trending in the right direction when it comes to suiting up against the Vikings, but we'll continue to monitor his status in the meantime.

Rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III was back at practice with the Washington Redskins on Wednesday, three days after he suffered a concussion. RG3 told the Redskins' official website that he "felt sharp, felt good, no symptoms of a concussion" in the session. FULL STORY
Analysis: Amid reports Griffin could be staying in the pocket more often in an effort to avoid a repeat of his injury, Week 6 should be a good gauge of how it will affect his value. The Vikings are 14th against the pass and sixth versus the run, allowing just one rushing score this season.

Robert Griffin: Practice Goes Well
Griffin, who suffered a mild concussion this past Sunday, said that he was tested after Wednesday's practice and passed, Grant Paulsen of 106.7 THE FAN reports.
Analysis: While it's great news that he was able to practice and that he evidently responded well to the work, Griffin has not yet been cleared for contact. For his part, Griffin believes that he should be a go Sunday against the Vikings, but we still expect the Redskins to proceed deliberately with their young franchise QB in the coming days.

Coach Mike Shanahan said that Griffin will practice Wednesday and then take another concussion test after the session, the Saint Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: This is obviously a positive step for Griffin, but we'd still expect the Redskins to handle their franchise QB with some caution, so he can't be considered anything close to a lock with regards to his playing status for Sunday's game against the Vikings.

Robert Griffin: (Concussion) Cleared To Practice
Griffin (concussion) was cleared to practice Tuesday after passing concussion tests, the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Griffin passed a series of concussion tests Monday and Tuesday and is expected to return to practice Wednesday. Despite being cleared to practice, Griffin must remain symptom-free throughout practice this week in order to play Sunday against the Vikings. Still, it's very encouraging to see him cleared this early in the week.

Change on horizon for RG3?
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan told NFL Network and NFL.com's Albert Breer he expects RG3 to dial it down upon his return. Such is the way of the running quarterback, according to Shanahan. Once you take that first mind-bending hit, you learn. READ FULL STATEMENT
Analysis: This could be cause for concern for fantasy owners, whom have relied on his ability to score with his feet. Griffin has just four passing TDs this season, but his 252 yards and 4 rushing scores have made him a must-start. That could change if he chooses to stay in the pocket.

"He's feeling good," coach Mike Shanahan said. "Got no dizziness, no headaches, and no vomiting. He feels like he's done well on the tests that he's done so far." FULL STORY
Analysis: It's looking like fantasy owners will have their elite quarterback ready for action in Week 6 against the Vikings. RG3 will still have to get the final okay from doctors, so keep a close eye on his status as the week progresses.

Griffin (concussion) is expected to undergo concussion tests early this week and the results of those will determine his availability for Sunday's game against the Vikings, the Washington Times reports.
Analysis: For what it's worth, backup Kirk Cousins, who saw Griffin on Monday, noted that Griffin "seems fine...he seems in good spirits. He appears to be doing well." While that's somewhat encouraging, we'd imagine that the Redskins will be cautious with their young franchise QB, so Griffin has to be considered pretty iffy for Week 6 at this point.

Analysis: He's also proving a bargain for fantasy owners who selected him in the middle-rounds. RG3 currently leads all fantasy QBs with 104 fantasy points, but he squares off against an Atlanta secondary in Week 5 which ranks third in interceptions (7) and has only allowed four passing touchdowns.

He has now rushed for at least 80 yards and a touchdown in back-to-back games and is making Cam Newton's 2011 numbers seem achievable, to say the least. Around The League's Gregg Rosenthal noted part of Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III success in Week 1 was because the Skins' "attack borrowed liberally from concepts Griffin used at Baylor. The key aspect: Griffin has options when he comes to the line of scrimmage."
Analysis: Fantasy owners are riding high after a stellar opening week performance from the rookie, and the news should further validate he is a trutworthy candidate to be in your starting lineup each week. Robert Griffin: Taken Second Overall by Washington
The Redskins selected Griffin in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft, second overall.
Analysis: The Baylor star and Heisman Trophy winner is the highest quarterback selection for Washington since Heath Shuler went third overall in 1994. He more than likely will be Washington's Week 1 starter in 2012, and his combination of excellent deep accuracy and 4.4 speed makes him an intriguing fantasy option, even as a rookie. It would be unwise for a number of reasons to expect a Cam Newton sort of impact from Griffin in his first season, but Griffin's superior running skills could make him a better fantasy option than Andrew Luck, at least. He has a better running game (Roy Helu) and group of pass-catchers (Fred Davis, Pierre Garcon, Santana Moss, Josh Morgan) than Luck, too.

Robert Griffin: Agent Says No Workout With IND
Griffin's agent advised him to not attend a private workout with the Colts, Colts owners Jim Irsay stated on Twitter.
Analysis: Irsay has stated publicly that the Colts haven't decided to take Andrew Luck over Griffin with the first pick, but this development leads us to conclude two things. The first is that the advice given by Griffin's agent seems to imply that he thinks the Colts have no intention of selecting Griffin, thus making a workout a waste of time. Irsay's decision to publicly disclose this, meanwhile, seems like an attempt to pressure Griffin's agent into changing course, or perhaps bait Griffin himself into overruling his agent. The reason we think Irsay is pushing for the workout to occur, of course, is so he can talk to Luck's agent in contract negotiations and pretend that Luck's camp doesn't have all the leverage. It could save the Colts money, in other words, if Luck's agent can't ignore the possibility of Griffin being the pick. Unfortunately for Irsay, the only way he'll convince anyone he might pick Griffin is to actually pull that trigger.
