Analysis: While the extent of Griffin's injury remains somewhat uncertain, it does not appear doctors found anything surprising during the process. Updating an earlier report it appears that Griffin's ACL may not be completely torn and is in relatively good condition, the Washington Post reports. However, the report states "...a person with knowledge of the situation said the ligament needs to be stronger." It's uncertain if the ligament "...could be repaired, or if it would be completely replaced."

Analysis: It appears there are several different reports floating around, this one sounds a little more optimistic. Regardless, Griffin will spend the offseason rehabbing with the hope of being ready for the regular season. Earlier reports stated an expected 6-8 month recovery time which falls around the start of the 2013 season.

Robert Griffin: Complete Tear of ACL and LCL

Analysis: Griffin connected with eight different receivers, although he was very limited on the ground, something fantasy owners probably should have expected given his sprained knee injury. Nevertheless, he looks comfortable in the pocket and led the Redskins to a victory that put their playoff destiny in their own hands. Up next is a Week 17 matchup against a Cowboys' defense that was dominated by Drew Brees on Sunday.

Griffin has a Grade 1 sprain of the LCL in his right knee, but he has no structural damage to the rest of the knee, according to the Redskins' official Twitter account.

Analysis: Coach Mike Shanahan relayed the news during a news conference Monday, during which he said Griffin's right ACL is healthy. While Shanahan considers Griffin's status going forward as "day-by-day," he is also unsure if he'll be able to participate in practice Wednesday. Luckily for Griffin, a Grade 1 sprain is the lowest classification for this type of injury, but his owners will want to keep a close eye on his status throughout the week. Those in fantasy playoffs may want to stake a claim to his backup, Kirk Cousins, as a handcuff in case Griffin is unable to suit up next Sunday at Cleveland.

Normally a daunting task, the Ravens are up next on a short week, however, the Baltimore defense has not been the units of the past and rank in the bottom quarter of the league in total yards allowed per game.

RG3 on a roll

In her Giants vs. Redskins analysis, NFL.com's Kimberly Jones notes in his past two games, RG3 has posted some ridiculous totals. "33 of 42 for 504 yards, eight touchdowns, one interception, 113 rushing yards on 19 carries, one perfect 158.3 quarterback rating against the Philadelphia Eagles and another dominant performance to ruin the Dallas Cowboys' Thanksgiving." Analysis: RG3 scored 23.22 points against the Giants during their last meeting and now has Pierre Garcon back in the mix at wideout. Another solid performance could be in store for the dynamic rookie quarterback.

In his "Nine Players Who Can Be Trusted" analysis, NFL.com's Adam Schein notes, "The kid is remarkable. He's an unflappable game-changer. The Washington Redskins have holes, no doubt, but RG3 is a young Ben Roethlisberger, masking areas of deficiency. Analysis: After hitting a bit of a lull in recent weeks, RG3 has now posted two straight games of 29 -plus points. Next up is a matchup against the Giants, a team he torched for 23.22 points in Week 7.

Analysis: Another big fantasy effort for Griffin, who continues to be among the league's leaders in overall fantasy scoring. Next up for Griffin and the Redskins in Week 13 are the Giants, whose pass defense the Bengals' Andy Dalton carved up the last time New York played.

Analysis: The rookie was on an absolute tear, totaling 32.40 points for the day. It was his second-highest effort of the season, so things could only get better as Pierre Garcon returns to full health.

Analysis: Griffin was simply dominant Sunday and fantasy owners surely celebrated, after two lackluster performances coming into Sunday. He connected with nine different receivers and threw touchdown passes to Santana Moss, Aldrick Robinson, Logan Paulsen, and Darrel Young. His No. 1 receiver, (on the depth chart at least) Pierre Garcon made his return, after sitting since Week 5, and caught all three of his targeted passes for five yards. Next up for Griffin is the Cowboys on Thanksgiving day.

Griffin faces bounce-back game

In his Week 11 "Fantasy Mailbag," fantasy guru Michael Fabiano notes, "I wouldn't be at all concerned about Griffin III. Remember, he would have scored better than 18 fantasy points in his last game had his team not been called for two penalties that negated touchdowns (one pass, one rush)." FULL FANTASY MAILBAG

Analysis: This week he faces the Philadelphia Eagles, who have allowed an average of 19.28 fantasy points to quarterbacks over their last four games. What's more, RG3 goes up against them again in Week 16 (fantasy championship week) to go along with other favorable matchups against the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns over the next several weeks.

Griffin is not listed on Washington's injury report Wednesday.

Analysis: Following Week 9's defeat to Carolina, Griffin had X-rays performed on his ribs, which came back negative. It's encouraging to see that the bye week has helped him heal up, making him a decent play Sunday in his first meeting with Philadelphia's 12th ranked defense.

Analysis: Many fantasy owners were expecting big things from Griffin against a porous Panthers' defense but they got anything but that Sunday. Griffin was stuffed near the goal-line more than once and he managed to lead the Redskins to only one touchdown, a two-yard rush by backup running back Evan Royster. He took a shot to the ribs in the first quarter but was able to play through it, although it may have been a factor leading to his second touchdown-less game this year. Fantasy owners will have to wait to see if he can get back on track, as the Redskins have a bye in Week 10.

RG3 shut out

Analysis: Griffin took a shot to the ribs in the first quarter, but it doesn't seem to have done too much damage. Obviously, he was able to play through the pain and Redskins coach Mike Shanahan described his star quarterback as "just sore" after the game. At this point, it doesn't sound like something that will cause Griffin to miss time.

Analysis: He's not just fantasy's top rookie, he's the best option available. Although he faces the Steelers' second-ranked pass defense in Week 8, the dynamic QB has proven he's a must-start regardless of the matchup.

Shanahan deserves credit for offensive success

Analysis: The result has been the end of Shanahanigans, making both RG3 and Alfred Morris must-starts in fantasy land. Against a Giants defense ranked 16th vs. the rush and 21st vs. the pass, their success should continue.

He's got a tough matchup next week against the Giants but if he can avoid the prolific pass rush, he could find success again.

Analysis: Though Shanahan called Griffin's concussion mild, he added that the QB didn't know the score of the game or the quarter after he was hit, so this will clearly be a situation to monitor in the coming days. Griffin's back-up is Kirk Cousins.

Analysis: With Griffin dealing with what appears to be some sort of head issue, Kirk Cousins has taken over at QB for the Redskins.

Analysis: Fantasy owners have already reaped the benefits of his 4 rushing TDs, and he could add to that total against an Atlanta defense which is ranked 12th with 10 sacks this season.

RG3 faces point adjustment

Robert Griffin lost seven rushing yards on a play changed from a sack to a rush during his matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4.

Analysis: 64.8% of leagues on NFL.com started RG3 last week, and though the 0.7 points is minimal, the change is sure to have affected at least one outcome. The Tampa Bay defense also lost one point as a result, but the unit was only started in 4.3% of leagues.

RG3 proving to be a bargain

In his NFL Quarterly Report, NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah notes RG3 is looking like a bargain despite what the Redskins gave up to select him. After four weeks, the rookie "is the NFL's fourth-rated passer, completing 69.4 percent while also rushing for 252 yards." FULL QUARTERLY REPORT

Analysis: He's also proving a bargain for fantasy owners who selected him in the middle-rounds. RG3 currently leads all fantasy QBs with 104 fantasy points, but he squares off against an Atlanta secondary in Week 5 which ranks third in interceptions (7) and has only allowed four passing touchdowns.

Analysis: The result was just fine for RG3, who led the game-winning drive. He continues to lead all fantasy QBs with 104 fantasy points for the season.

Griffin completed 26-of-35 pases for 323 yards and added seven carries for 43 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Bucs.

Analysis: Griffin connected with nine different receivers and threw for quite a high number of yards without throwing a touchdown. Fantasy owners will have to take solace in the fact that he ran one in for the third game in a row and now has four total on the year. The Redskins will take on the Falcons next Sunday, one week after Cam Newton dominated their defense.

Griffin piling up points

Redskins QB Robert Griffin III continued to shine despite the loss to the Bengals, notching 221 yards with a score as well as 85 yards rushing with a touchdown.

Analysis: The rookie has now scored no less than 25 fantasy points in each of his three games. To call him a must-start is an understatement.

Griffin completed 21-of-34 passes for 221 yards with a touchdown and carried the ball 12 times for 85 yards with another score, Sunday against the Bengals.

Analysis: The passing numbers weren't great, but fantasy owners have to be thrilled with what Griffin can do with his feet. He has now rushed for at least 80 yards and a touchdown in back-to-back games and is making Cam Newton's 2011 numbers seem achievable, to say the least. With top wideout Pierre Garcon out with an injury, he was still able to connect with eight different receivers, including tight end Fred Davis a game-high seven times for 90 yards.

Redskins adjusting to Griffin

Instead of forcing RG3 to adjust, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan have allowed their rookie QB to run plays that give him the best chance to succeed now. And the Shanahans will gradually work in their offense.

Analysis: We like the short term idea, but are concerned about the long term plan. If Griffin's succeeding with the current system, why change it? That same tinkering signaled the end of Donovan McNabb. The Shanahans should just leave well enough alone.

Analysis: This was just another aspect highlighted in the rookie sensation's arsenal. With 55.44 total points, the top scoring fantasy QB should be a staple of your lineup.

Griffin completed 20-of-29 passes for 206 yards, with one touchdown and one interception Sunday against the Rams. He also added 11 carries for 82 yards and two rushing touchdowns.

Analysis: A huge fantasy day for Griffin, who wasn't able to lead the Redskins to their second straight victory. While the passing stats weren't great, the rushing ones were phenomenal. It's naive to think he'll produce that much on the ground every week but fantasy owners have to love seeing the rushing touchdowns starting to come.

Redskins give Griffin options

Around The League's Gregg Rosenthal noted part of Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III success in Week 1 was because the Skins' "attack borrowed liberally from concepts Griffin used at Baylor. The key aspect: Griffin has options when he comes to the line of scrimmage."

Analysis: Fantasy owners are riding high after a stellar opening week performance from the rookie, and the news should further validate he is a trutworthy candidate to be in your starting lineup each week. By having familiarity and freedom to make changes to the plays called, he might be able to avoid the typical hurdles rookies have in their first year.

Redskins happy with decision

NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah doubts the Redskins have any "buyer's remorse" after Griffin's stellar debut.

Analysis: Griffin got off to a hot start for fantasy owners, but it would be wise not to set the bar too high on the Baylor product. The Saints are not known for their stellar secondary and he will be facing the Bengals in Week 2.

Griffin completed 19-of-26 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's win at New Orleans. He also added 42 rushing yards on 10 carries.

Analysis: A remarkable debut for Griffin, who connected with eight different receivers, including Pierre Garcon on a highlight-reel 88-yard touchdown. It's tough to say anyone expected this debut performance from Griffin, but fantasy owners who decided to start him will gladly take it.

Griffin to be tested Week 1

NFL.com's Adam Schein believes "the New Orleans Saints are going to crush (Robert) Griffin and the Washington Redskins," adding "In fairness to him, most quarterbacks -- most teams -- couldn't beat the talented and angry Saints in Week 1 after this offseason."

Analysis: Though the Saints did upgrade at certain defensive positions, the unit finished 29th against the pass in 2011. Fantasy owners who drafted RG3 as their No. 1 QB can expect a decent performance, but temper expectations against a team itching to erase their offseason woes.

Griffin is set to square off against Drew Brees and the Saints in his NFL regular season debut Sunday.

Analysis: It's not a bad matchup on paper and it's not hard to imagine the Redskins needing to throw plenty in Week 1 in order to keep up with the Saints. How often and how effectively Griffin scrambles will be worth watching closely, as will be his chemistry with the likes of wideouts Pierre Garcon, Santana Moss, Josh Morgan and Leonard Hankerson out of the gate.

Griffin was 11-for-17 for 74 yards and a touchdown during Saturday's preseason game against Indianapolis.

Analysis: No matter what Griffin or counterpart Andrew Luck did in this game, it couldn't possibly live up to the hype. Still, Griffin played fairly well and looked strong as he led an 80 yard drive in the second quarter that culminated with a four-yrad touchdown pass to Santana Moss. Griffin is now 20-for-31 for 193 yards with two touchdowns, no interceptions and a 103.2 rating through three preseason games.

Griffin was less impressive in his second preseason game completing 5 of 8 passes for 49 yards and losing a fumble.

Analysis: The offensive line struggled against a strong Bears pass rush. The line has been banged up with all five starters missing time during camp.

Griffin was 4-for-6 for 70 yards and a touchdown in Washington's preseason opener on Thursday night.

Analysis: Overall it was a solid debut for the rookie, although he did also lose a fumble. The touchdown was a 20-yarder to Pierre Garcon.

Griffin is expected to be on the field for 12-20 plays in Thursday's preseason opener, the Washington Post reports.

Analysis: Griffin has a strong grasp of the playbook but must demonstrate execution. He's had some ups and downs in training camp so far which is expected for a rookie. The team does not plan to give him more reps during preseason than a normal starting quarterback.

Robert Griffin: Signs With Redskins

Griffin has signed a contract with the Redskins, reportedly worth $21.1 million over four years, the Washington Post reports.

Analysis: Griffin's deal includes a team option for a fifth season, as well as a signing bonus of $13.8 million. While this never seemed like a situation that would become contentious, Griffin was absent Monday and Tuesday while his fellow Redskins rookies were on hand for conditioning workouts and classroom work. He is now expected to join them at the team's training facility and get to the business of taking over the Redskins' starting QB job. Given his ability to throw the deep ball, as well as his mobility, Griffin has immediate fantasy upside, even as he grows into his role as the team's franchise QB.

Analysis: Veterans have been impressed with his ability and work ethic so far. It appears Griffin continues to work hard even after he's already been given the starting job.

Analysis: The real job battle among Washington quarterbacks heading into this season will be for the No. 2 job, a competition that will feature veteran Rex Grossman against rookie Kirk Cousins.

Griffin will begin next week's full squad workouts with the Redskins' first-string offense, Rich Campbell of the Washington Times reports.

Analysis: No surprise here, given what the team invested in acquiring Griffin with the No. 2 pick overall in last month's NFL draft. According to coach Mike Shanahan, Griffin and Jonathan Crompton will divide first-team reps 80/20, while Rex Grossman and Kirk Cousins will split second-team reps 50/50. In any case, an injury occurring to Griffin represents the only scenario in which we can envision the star rookie not being the Redskins' Week 1 starter.

Analysis: The Baylor star and Heisman Trophy winner is the highest quarterback selection for Washington since Heath Shuler went third overall in 1994. He more than likely will be Washington's Week 1 starter in 2012, and his combination of excellent deep accuracy and 4.4 speed makes him an intriguing fantasy option, even as a rookie. It would be unwise for a number of reasons to expect a Cam Newton sort of impact from Griffin in his first season, but Griffin's superior running skills could make him a better fantasy option than Andrew Luck, at least. He has a better running game (Roy Helu) and group of pass-catchers (Fred Davis, Pierre Garcon, Santana Moss, Josh Morgan) than Luck, too.
