Tony Romo: Minor Back Surgery
Romo will be out three weeks after undergoing minor surgery to remove a cyst from his back, the Dallas Morning News reports. "If this was the regular season and I had to play next week, I could," Romo said.
Analysis: He'll miss this week's OTAs, but should be fine for the start of training camp. If first-round draft pick Travis Frederick can help stabilize the middle of the Cowboys' offensive line, Romo could deliver some very big numbers this season.

Tony Romo: Six-Year Extension With Dallas
Romo agreed to a six-year extension with Dallas on Friday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Analysis: It puts Romo under contract with Dallas through the 2019 season. Although he's perhaps the league's most accomplished magnet for criticism, a quarterback rating of 95.6 over 3,240 pass attempts clearly illustrates that Romo is well above average. Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones dismissed the idea that the team's salary cap situation puts added pressure on them to re-structure Romo's deal and sign him to an extension, Rowan Kavner of DallasCowboys.com reports. "Everybody always gets under," Jones said. "That'll be the case here with us. We're going to put together what we hope to be a championship caliber football team."
Analysis: Nonetheless, the Cowboys are way over the cap as is right now and have a tough decision to make with free agent Pro Bowler Anthony Spencer, not to mention all the other roster holes they won't be able to fill in the draft as they shift to Monte Kiffin's 4-3 defense. Analysis: Romo, who is in the last year of his contract, is in line for a base salary of $11.5 million in 2013. Tony Romo: Cracked Rib
Romo suffered a cracked rib in the second quarter of Sunday's loss to the Redskins, Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas reports. He ended the year with a 65.6 completion percentage (425-for-648, both career highs) and 4,903 passing yards (also a career high), but his 28:19 TD:INT ratio left something to be desired.
Analysis: Romo will head into the offseason looking for a contract extension, and while the emergence of Dez Bryant gives him the big-play weapon Miles Austin failed to develop into the key to his 2013 fortunes might depend on how much focus the Cowboys put on upgrading their offensive line.

Romo (hand) was at practice Thursday and according to Josh Ellis of DallasCowboys.com, the spiral on his passes and his accuracy looked fine.
Analysis: Though it's assumed that he will play Sunday against the Giants, this report is encouraging, considering concerns that Romo's grip on the football might be hampered by his hand issue.

Tony Romo: Set to Play This Week
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Monday that Romo (hand) is fine and will play Sunday night against the Giants, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Jones supported his Romo declaration by indicating Monday that the Cowboys will not pursue a veteran QB for Week 17's game, a winner-take-all showdown for the NFC East title.

Tony Romo: Should Play Through Hand Injury
The Cowboys believe that Romo (bruised throwing hand) will play in Sunday's season finale against the Giants, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Analysis: The winner-take-all nature of the game (for the NFC East title) supports this notion, but Romo will need for the swelling in his hand to go down in the coming days in order to be comfortable throwing/effective this weekend.

Tony Romo: (Hand) Optimistic About Playing Next Week
X-Rays on Romo's right (throwing) hand were negative, with the injury that he suffered early in Saturday's game against the Eagles diagnosed as a contusion, the Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Though Romo's hand was visibly swollen Saturday, he is optimistic that he will be a go for Week 17's showdown against the Giants, with the NFC East title on the line. "I feel like the playoffs have already started," Romo said after Saturday's game. "I feel good about the hand and being able to play…read more

Tony Romo: Throwing Hand Swells Up
Romo's right (throwing) hand was visibly swollen after he absorbed a hit early in Saturday's game against the Eagles.
Analysis: Stephen McGee took over for Romo on Saturday and given how puffy Romo's hand looked, his Week 17 availability could now be in peril. On the plus side though, X-rays on Romo's hand came up negative.

Tony Romo: Injures Hand
Romo injured his right (throwing) hand on the first possession of Saturday's game against the Eagles.

Romo tore apart the Tampa Bay defense in the first half Saturday night and cruised the rest of the way, finishing the night going 23-of-30 for 249 yards and three TDs, with no INTs. He also picked up his first rushing TD of the season.
Analysis: In real life Romo has a reputation, deserved or not, for coming up small in big games but his fantasy owners have now enjoyed two straight excellent performances from him during key weeks. Romo had the 'Boys up 28-0, hitting each of his top three wideouts for red zone scores before turning to the…read more

Romo had a monster fantasy performance in Sunday's heart-breaking loss to the Giants. He finished with 321 yards and four touchdowns on 21-of-31 passing.
Analysis: While Romo's performance didn't translate into a win for the Cowboys, he sure helped out his fantasy owners. Sunday's game was the first time in a month Romo had his full complement of receivers at his disposal with the return of Miles Austin, and it showed. The night was filled with big plays, and…read more

Romo completed 28-of-42 passes for 299 yards and one TD on Sunday.
Analysis: The Arizona pass rush got to Romo for five sacks, but he avoided making any big mistakes and had the Cowboys in a position to win at the end of regulation. Miles Austin is expected back for Week 14, but don't look for a big spike in Romo's numbers as a result, given how well Laurent Robinson has…read more

Romo was sharp again Sunday, completing 23-of-37 passes for 292 yards and three TDs with no INTs.
Analysis: He hasn't broken the 300-yard mark in over a month but Romo has an 8:0 TD:INT ratio over his last three games, and appears to be in a zone right now. Start him with confidence.

Analysis: Romo appears to be the healthiest he's been in nearly two months after dealing with a lingering injury to his ribs. Tony Romo: Strong Effort Sunday
Romo was nearly perfect Sunday, completing 23-of-26 passes for 270 yards and three TDs.
Analysis: Up 28-7 at the break, the Cowboys learned the lessons of their blown lead earlier in the season against the Lions and shut down Romo and the passing game in the second half, otherwise his day could have been even more fantasy-friendly. Romo (ribs) is active for Sunday's game against the Bills.
Analysis: Romo will play this week without Miles Austin, one of his favorite targets. That being said, he still has plenty of weapons around him and could break out against a Bills team that can put up points and perhaps force Dallas to take up a pass-heavy game plan.

Romo (ribs) practiced in full Wednesday.
Analysis: Romo hasn't had a big statistical game in a few weeks, although he faces a relatively soft Bills' defense Sunday. On the downside, Romo will be missing one of his biggest weapons in Miles Austin (hamstring), who is out 2-to-4 weeks.

Romo (ribs) completed 19-of-31 passes for 279 yards and two TDs in Sunday's win over the Seahawks.
Analysis: Dallas once again had red zone struggles and had only two field goals at half time, but Romo eventually got things going after the break. DeMarco Murray's emergence and Miles Austin's latest hamstring injury give the Cowboys less reason to heavily emphasize the passing game, so Romo's numbers could…read more

Tony Romo: Probable for Sunday's Game
Romo (ribs) is probable for Sunday's game against Seattle.
Analysis: Romo hasn't been reliable this year, but it would be an extreme disappointment if he didn't post good numbers against Seattle. The Seahawks simply don't have the secondary personnel to match up well with Miles Austin and Dez Bryant, not to mention the out-of-nowhere Laurent Robinson.

Romo (ribs) practiced in full Wednesday, according to the Cowboys' official site.
Analysis: It would be nice to see Romo completely off the practice/participation report, but he's in no jeopardy of missing game action. After struggling against the Eagles last week, Romo should bounce back at home versus the Seahawks.
