Joe Flacco: Agrees To New Deal With Ravens

Flacco and the Ravens have agreed to terms on a new contract, Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports. He's expected to sign the deal Monday.

Analysis: It sounds like Flacco and the Ravens have reached a long-term deal, though details and financial terms have not yet been disclosed. The Ravens currently have $17.981 million of cap space entering the 2013 offseason, the Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson reports.

Analysis: There's no doubt that the Ravens are going to lose some talent this offseason, but any questions about whether the organization has the cap space to retain Flacco can be put to rest. He remains the team's top priority.

Flacco's agent expects negotiations with the Ravens to resume shortly, the Baltimore Sun reports.

Analysis: Never say never, but the chances of Flacco landing elsewhere are so close to zero that it probably isn't worth considering. Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome said during Tuesday's Super Bowl Media Day that Flacco, who will be a free agent after the season, will "be playing football for [the Ravens] next year," CBS Sports reports. "We'll be able to get that thing done," Newsome said regarding a contract for Flacco. "Joe and I have a good understanding of where his contract is."

Analysis: The expectation is that the Ravens will use a $14.6 million franchise tag on Flacco, giving the Ravens until July to negotiate a long-term deal. Flacco is reportedly seeking a contract that would pay him $20 million annually, putting him in Peyton Manning territory.

Flacco completed 21-of-36 passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's win over the Patriots.

Analysis: Flacco got the better of Tom Brady in this one, as he was able to handle the elements and hit his receivers for big plays. Flacco completed 18-of-34 passes for 331 yards and three touchdowns, with no picks in Saturday's overtime playoff win over the Broncos.

Analysis: Though Flacco lost a fumble in the game, it's hard to fault his performance in the Ravens' upset of the Peyton Manning-helmed Broncos. Next up for Flacco and the Ravens is a road date in next weekend's AFC Championship against either the Patriots of Texans.

Flacco completed 12-of-23 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's Wild Card win over the Colts.

Several key Ravens, including Flacco, are not expected to see their normal amount of playing time Sunday against the Bengals, Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports.

Analysis: Ray Rice is also expected to be in that category, with Torrey Smith another candidate to have his Week 17 snaps managed, with the Ravens out of contention for a first round playoff bye. Once Flacco's day is over Sunday, Tyrod Taylor is next in line for snaps at QB for the Ravens.

Analysis: Flacco came up big in the first half with three touchdown passes, but the running game was the focal point of Baltimore's offense for most of the game. He has a much tougher matchup next week against a Denver defense that is one of the best in the AFC any way you break it down.

Analysis: Flacco has been a good fantasy option at home overall, but this week's matchup against the Steelers makes him a risk.

Flacco completed 30-of-51 passes for 355 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Chargers.

Analysis: Flacco has been very up-and-down recently, passing for at least 340 yards or under 165 yards in the last four games. It doesn't figure to be an "up" game next week against the Steelers, who came into Week 12 as the top team in the NFL against the pass.

Flacco shows huge disparity

In his Week 12 "Power Rankings," Elliot Harrison points out Flacco's home versus road disparity. "Joe Flacco at home: 66.5 completion percentage, 322.4 yards per game, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions. Analysis: This has been the book on Flacco all season. While he could break the trend with a road matchup against a Chargers defense which has allowed 19 passing scores, it's hard to argue with history.

Analysis: Flacco struggled to connect with some of his wide receivers thorughout the night, but the Ravens were able to go into Heinz Field and get a win. Analysis: The fireworks should continue for Flacco in Week 5 when he faces a Chiefs' secondary which has allowed the second-most touchdowns (10) through the air.

Flacco is dealing with an ankle sprain, the Ravens' official site reports.

Analysis: That said, coach John Harbaugh indicated that Flacco's ankle issue is minor and noted that the QB is expected to play when the Ravens return to action Oct. 7.

Flacco completed 28-of-46 passes for 356 yards with a touchdown and an interception Thursday against the Browns.

Analysis: He also had two rushes for four yards and a touchdown. In the Raven's new up-tempo approach, Flacco is averaging a little over 317 passing yards per game and has a 7:3 TD to INT ratio. Trot him out there as you normally would when the Ravens face the Chiefs on extended rest in Week 5.

No huddle ineffective vs. Eagles

Joe Flacco's no huddle attack was no good in the Ravens' Week 2 loss against the Eagles.

Analysis: After a nice start to the season, Flacco was only able to amass 9.28 fantasy points in Week 2. He should be a matchup based play until he shows more consistency.

Ravens, Flacco use no-huddle sparingly

The Ravens surprisingly didn't use the no-huddle offense that much in their 24-23 loss to the Eagles on Sunday, observes Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com's Around the League. Joe Flacco (22-42-232) was completely out of synch in the second half, and Baltimore surprisingly went away from Ray Rice (16 carries, 99 yards), despite leading much of the game and Rice dominating.
