Witten and the Cowboys have reached an agreement to restructure his contract, freeing up $3.65 million in cap space, ESPN Dallas reports.
Analysis: Most of Witten's base salary -- $4.56 million of $5.5 million -- has been turned into a bonus for the 2013 season. The five-year, $37 million contract extension that he signed in September of 2011 runs through the completion of the 2017 campaign.

Despite a preseason spleen injury that limited him to just eight catches over the first three weeks of the season, Witten finished 2012 with an NFL-record 110 receptions (the most ever by a tight end in a single season) and 1,039 receiving yards with three TDs.
Analysis: Over the last six seasons he's averaged around 92 catches, 1018 yards and five touchdowns, and as Tony Romo's most trusted weapon Witten should continue to be as reliable a fantasy option as they come. He's also 1,052 receiving yards shy of 10,000 for his career, which could give Romo even more…read more

Witten caught seven balls for 56 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Redskins.

Witten caught six passes on eight targets for 60 yards in Sunday's loss to the Saints.
Analysis: In the process, he broke Tony Gonzalez's NFL single-season record for catches by a tight end and now has 103 receptions on the year with one game to go. Unless he gets completely shutout in Week 17 against the Redskins, Witten should also top 1,000 receiving yards for the fourth time in his career.

Romo worth starting
In his Week 10 "Higher or Lower" analysis, fantasy expert Jason Smith notes, "Tony Romo seems to have righted himself enough to be worthy of starting again. He's averaged more than 15 fantasy points per game the last month -- and 15 points is a viable start from your quarterback." READ: HIGHER/LOWER
