Rice ran 19 times for 48 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Patriots.
Analysis: While it wasn't overly impressive, Rice was able to find the endzone to give the Ravens an early 7-3 lead. Bernard Pierce was more efficient, but Rice was better catching the ball, hauling in three passes for 22 yards. He'll face a tough run defense in San Francisco in the Super Bowl.

Rice carried 30 the ball times for 131 yards and a TD in Saturday's overtime playoff win over the Broncos.
Analysis: The 30 carries and 131 rushing yards both represent season-highs for Rice, who will now take aim at either Patriots' or Texans' run defense on the road in next weekend's AFC Championship game.

Rice ran for 70 yards on 15 carries and added 47 yards on one catch in Sunday's Wild Card win over the Colts. He also turned the ball over twice on fumbles.
Analysis: It was a pretty strong performance for Rice minus the fumbles, but Bernard Pierce ran for more yards (103 on 13 carries) and it was fullback Vonta Leach who punched in a two-yard touchdown prior to halftime. Next up are the Broncos, a team that surrendered the third-fewest rushing yards in the league during the regular season (1,458 yards). It will be a tough matchup and Pierce will be involved once again, but Rice will likely get the majority of the work against Denver.

Rice finished the 2012 regular season with 257 carries for 1,143 yards and nine rushing touchdowns, adding 61 receptions for 478 yards and one touchdown through the air.
Analysis: The rushing and receiving yardage totals were both the lowest of Rice's four-year run as the starting back in Baltimore, but he was still one of the most consistent players at his position. He either topped 90 total yards or scored a touchdown in 13 games, often accomplishing both tasks, and only failing to do either in the Ravens' two blowout losses and a Week 17 game where he barely played. Despite playing in all 16 games for the fourth season in a row, Rice looks to be fresh and at full health entering the playoffs. That's bad news for the Colts, as they head into Baltimore sporting the NFL's 29th ranked rush defense after allowing Jamaal Charles to romp for 226 yards in Week 17.

Rice carried the ball just three times for five yards in Sunday's season finale against the Bengals.
Analysis: With the Ravens either sitting or resting a number of regulars, including Rice, their Week 17 backfield was led by Bernard Pierce (22 carries for 89 yards and Anthony Allen (10 carries for 41 yards and a TD). Once the playoffs begin next weekend though, Rice will once again head the team's rushing attack.

Ray Rice: Suits Up Sunday: Likely to be Limited
Updating an earlier report, Rice will be active for Sunday's game against the Bengals and is in line to play a series or two, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Analysis: With the Ravens not chasing a first-round playoff bye, the team still figures to take it easy on Rice (and some other key players as well) on Sunday, with Bernard Pierce and Anthony Allen likely in line for an expanded role in Week 17 as a result.

With the Ravens having sealed up the AFC North title, Rice is not expected to play against the Bengals on Sunday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Analysis: Assuming that's the case, then Bernard Pierce would be next in line for the team's carries -- followed by Anthony Allen -- an assignment that would give him some Week 17 relevance. While Schefter's report only names Rice specifically, it presumes that the Ravens are inclined to rest or limit some of their key players Sunday, which suggests that the likes of Joe Flacco, Anquan Boldin (who is dealing with a banged up shoulder), and Torrey Smith, along with some of the team's key IDPs, could see their playing time managed as well.

Rice had 24 carries for 107 rushing yards and six catches on seven targets for 51 receiving yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Giants.
Analysis: Rice has now rushed for over 100 yards in two of the last three games, after going seven straight without breaking the century mark. The Ravens have clinched a first round playoff home game and because they cannot get into the top-two in the AFC, they could lessen Rice's workload in Week 17 against the Bengals, who also clinched a playoff birth Sunday.

Rice (hip) had 12 carries for 38 rushing yards and three catches on seven targets for three receiving yards Sunday against the Broncos.
Analysis: An absolutely dismal performance by Rice at a very crucial time for fantasy owners. Rice wasn't able to break any long plays early on and the Ravens essentially abandoned the run in the second half after going down 17-0 by halftime. It should be a little easier next week, as he'll face a Giants' defense that allowed 129 rushing yards and a touchdown to the Falcons on Sunday.

Rice (hip) is active for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
Analysis: Rice was limited in practice this week but was listed as probable heading into Sunday, so fantasy owners who relied on him starting Sunday will get what they need. Rice (hip) doesn't expect the Ravens' offense to change much with the transition from Cam Cameron to Jim Caldwell at offensive coordinator, the Ravens' official website reports.
Analysis: Cameron had a tendency to lean heavily on the running game one week and then essentially ignore it the next, although Rice has been a pretty consistent fantasy performer over the past four seasons because of his involvement in the passing game. Perhaps Jim Caldwell won't be so quick to abandon the run when the Ravens fall behind, but there's no reason to adjust Rice's fantasy value for the time being. He'll face a tough Denver defense on Sunday and could be without starting right guard Marshal Yanda (ankle), arguably Baltimore's top offensive lineman.

Rice had 22 carries for 97 rushing yards and eight catches on nine targets for 67 receiving yards Sunday against the Chargers.
Analysis: Rice was responsible for the biggest play of the day, taking a short pass from Joe Flacco on fourth-and-29 in the fourth quarter, weaving through defenders and eventually getting a first down that saved the Ravens in regulation. While fantasy owners would have liked to see a touchdown from Rice, those in PPR leagues were surely celebrating his eight receptions. Although Rice has seen a modest workload through the first seven games of this season, the same was true at this point last year, and he still ended the 2011 campaign averaging 18.2 carries and 4.8 receptions per game, the Baltimore Sun reports.
Analysis: Rice is averaging 15.1 carries and 4.1 receptions per game this year, and was averaging 15.3 carries and 4.7 receptions through seven games last year. Similar concerns about his workload were voiced during the 2011 season, and he saw a significant increase in usage late in the year. That doesn't necessarily mean the same thing will happen this year, although it sounds like the Ravens are committed to getting him the ball, so we wouldn't bet against it either. Head coach John Harbaugh acknowledged that the Ravens might have been best-served staying with the running game Sunday, even after the Texans jumped out to a 16-3 lead early in the game. The Baltimore coaching staff has taken plenty of heat over the past few seasons for abandoning the running game when the team is trailing, and Harbaugh's post-game comments indicated that he is aware of the problem. We'd like to think that fans and the media don't influence play-calling, but in this case the fans and media may be right. Rice averaged 4.7 yards on his nine carries Sunday, while quarterback Joe Flacco averaged a measly 3.4 yards per pass attempt and threw two interceptions to boot.

Ravens, Flacco use no-huddle sparingly
The Ravens surprisingly didn't use the no-huddle offense that much in their 24-23 loss to the Eagles on Sunday, observes Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com's Around the League. Joe Flacco (22-42-232) was completely out of synch in the second half, and Baltimore surprisingly went away from Ray Rice (16 carries, 99 yards), despite leading much of the game and Rice dominating.
Analysis: The Ravens' no-huddle in Week 1 that had fantasy owners drooling over Flacco's prospects this season were tempered a bit with Cam Cameron's more conservative approach in Week 2. It might be a week-to-week thing with the Ravens, based on opponent. Going away from Rice should be a little more disturbing.

Analysis: Rice got only two carries and one reception in a little less than a quarter during the team's third preseason game against Jacksonville, but it sounds like the Ravens plan to get it to him early and often in the regular season. "The bottom line is that he's always a huge part of what we're doing and we're always looking to see how people are defending him to see how we can continue to get him the ball in space," Cameron said. Rice led the team with 76 receptions last season, and said, "Those are long hand-offs for me. A back like me, you can't be one-dimensional. I'm not a plower."

Rice carried two times for 30 yards and caught a pass for 13 yards in Friday's 48-17 preseason win over the Jaguars.
Analysis: Rice came out of the game long before any of Baltimore's other starters on offense, but looked to be in mid-season form while he was in the game. He probably won't play in the fourth preseason game, and should enter the 2012 season at full health.

Rice carried three times for four yards and wasn't targeted in the passing game during Baltimore's preseason opener against Atlanta.
Analysis: Some people are concerned about Rice's workload over the last few years, but the offensive line in front of him may be the bigger issue here, and that showed on Thursday. We'll give the unit a pass for now since Matt Birk was out and Bryant McKinnie is still working to reclaim his starting job, but even with those guys in the lineup it isn't a dominant group. Rice is the unquestioned workhorse in Baltimore, and a huge part of the passing game, so he could put together a strong season even if the line struggles, although it certainly wouldn't help his cause.

Ray Rice: Gets Four-Year Extension From Ravens
Rice has signed a five-year, $40 million contract with the Ravens, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Analysis: According to the report, his deal includes $17 million in the first year and $25 million over the first two years of the contract. Now that Rice is under contract, and thus no longer a candidate to hold out, his status as the Ravens' top back is locked in, as is his place among the league's elite fantasy backs. His ADP is currently No. 3 overall, behind only Arian Foster and LeSean McCoy.

Rice and the Baltimore Ravens are still at an impasse over a new contract, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Analysis: Jamison Hensley believes that Rice is looking for a deal similar to Chris Johnson's six years with $30 million guaranteed. The Ravens would like something closer to Arian Foster and LeSean McCoy, who recently wrapped up five-year contracts with $20.75 million and $20.76 million guaranteed, respectively. If a deal isn't struck by July 16, Rice is expected to play under the $7.7 million franchise tag this season.

Rice could lose short yardage touches to rookie Bernard Pierce, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Analysis: At 6'0, 218 pounds, Pierce could be used as a bruiser to get first downs on short yardage and punch in a touchdown or two. He shouldn't be considered a threat to Rice's fantasy production any more than Ricky Williams was last year, however, at least until further notice.

Ray Rice: Might Not Report Without New Deal
Rice is not planning to report to Baltimore offseason activities unless the team gives him a new contract, Carroll County Times writer Aaron Wilson reports.
Analysis: It's no secret that Rice is worth more to the Ravens than the $7.742 million franchise tag, but it's not clear how close the two sides might be towards putting together a long-term deal. It wouldn't surprise if the Ravens drafted a running back in the first three rounds of the draft to guard their long-term stability at the position.

The Ravens placed their franchise tag on Rice on Friday, the Baltimore Sun reports.
Analysis: This move was anticipated, and Rice is expected to make $7.7 million in 2012. He has proven to be one of the most durable backs in football, having played in 16 games each of the past three years. He toted the ball 250+ times in each of those three seasons, and he's expected to be the focal point of the Ravens' offense in 2012.

Rice will likely receive the Ravens' franchise tag, the Baltimore Sun reports.
Analysis: The move makes a lot of sense from the Ravens' perspective. Not only do they lock up arguably their most valuable offensive player for another year, the tag buys the team a lot more time to hammer out a long-term deal. If Rice receives the tag he will earn an expected $7.7 million next season. The Ravens have until March 5 to make a decision.

Rice (unspecified issue) was missing from the portion of Thursday's practice open to the media, the Baltimore Sun reports.
Analysis: Rice practiced Wednesday and there was no mention of any injury, so there's a good chnace this was just a maintenance day for him, with the Ravens on bye this week.

Rice had 24 carries for 191 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Sunday's win at Cincinnati.
Analysis: Most of Rice's damage came on his touchdowns, as he scored on runs of 70 and 51 yards. Rice stepped up huge for the Ravens in a game that got them a first-round bye, and he should be one of the first runners selected in playoff leagues.

Rice had 57 yards on 10 carries in Sunday's loss at San Diego. He also led the team with nine catches totaling 55 yards.
Analysis: The Ravens spent the majority of the game, and the entire second half, playing from behind, which limited Rice's carries. As usual, he was a big factor in the passing game, but his inability to score surely disappointed his fantasy owners. Look for a big bounce-back in next week's home game versus Cleveland.

Rice racked up 149 total yards and a touchdown during Sunday's win over the Colts.
Analysis: Rice has been fantasy gold this season, especially now that he's finding the end zone with regularity. Rice has 12 total touchdowns this season with Willis McGahee in Denver, well eclipsing the six he had through 16 games last year.

Rice ran wild against the Browns on Sunday, rushing for 204 yards with a touchdown.
Analysis: Rice got off to a great start with an early 30-yard scamper, and later added a 67-yard gallop. In theory, Rice could have finished with close to 300 yards rushing, but Ricky Williams added 16 carries for 76 yards with a touchdown of his own.

Rice had 20 carries for 104 yards with a pair of touchdowns and caught five balls for 43 yards in Sunday's win over the Bengals.
Analysis: Rice was held in check outside of a nice 59-yard scamper, but after getting just five carries last week, it was nice to see him get so much work Sunday.

Rice had 27 yards rushing and 54 yards receiving during Sunday's loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: Rice had just five carries on the day compared to eight receptions. It was an odd gameplan to say the least. The Ravens were down for much of the day, but the score didn't warrant a full-out abandonment of the running game. Rice will hopefully see his usual touches next week against the Bengals.

Rice had 43 rushing yards and a touchdown on 18 carries Sunday. He also added 43 yards on five receptions.
Analysis: The Steelers' defense has rounded into shape in the last few weeks, so this was a solid output for Rice in a tough game that saw the Ravens throw the ball 47 times. Rice actually took the first play of the game 76 yards for a touchdown, but the score was called back on a holding call. It could have been a much bigger fantasy night for Rice, but all-in-all it was another solid performance for the top-5 back.
