Alexander signed his contract tender with the Chargers on Thursday, ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Alexander, who was picked up by the Chargers last October, finished up the season with 37 receptions for 658 yards and seven touchdowns in 10 games. The knock on him prior to that surprising run of production was that he was injury-prone, but as long as he can stay healthy, he figures to be remain a big part of the San Diego passing attack this coming season.

Alexander only had one reception in Week 17 against the Raiders, but it went for a touchdown. Alexander burst out of nowhere in 2012 after being signed off the scrap heap prior to Week 8 and finished the year with a rather incredible 37 receptions for 658 yards and seven touchdowns.
Analysis: Alexander was the biggest bright spot in an otherwise forgettable year in San Diego as he came in and immediately starting making big play after big play. Over the second half of the season, Alexander routinely lead the Bolts in receptions and was a constant long ball threat. Heading into 2013, Alexander has to be considered one of the top wide receiver options in San Diego and will likely benefit from a full training camp with the team next year.

Alexander had three catches on six targets for 69 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Jets.
Analysis: Alexander was having a fairly pedestrian day against a strong Jets' pass defense, until he hauled in a 37-yard touchdown in the third quarter to give the Chargers the lead for good. It was a solid bounce back game, after the donut he put up in Week 15. Up next is a Raiders' defense that held the Panthers to 170 yards through the air Sunday.

In his Week 16 "Start 'Em, Sit 'Em" analysis, Michael Fabiano notes the "Jets defense has surrendered the second-fewest fantasy points to wideouts at home." FULL START 'EM, SIT 'EM
Analysis: Alexander was an enormous bust last week, failing to score a single fantasy point in a loss to the Panthers. Now he'll face off against CB Antonio Cromartie, posing yet another stiff test.

Alexander was held without a catch on three targets Sunday against the Panthers.
Analysis: A surprising stat line for Alexander, who had been targeted at least 10 times in three of the preceding four games heading into Sunday. Fantasy owners who rode the Alexander-wave into the playoffs likely wiped out after Sunday's donut. Up next is a Week 15 matchup against a Jets' defense that has been very good against opposing passing games this year.

Alexander thriving
In his Week 15 "Start 'Em, Sit 'Em" analysis, Michael Fabiano notes, "In his last five games, the veteran (Alexander) has posted double-digit fantasy points four times. What's more, Alexander has scored the fourth-most fantasy points at his position in the last four weeks." FULL START 'EM, SIT 'EM
Analysis: Start 'Em & Sit 'Em is all about the numbers, trends and matchups. But in the case of Alexander, it doesn't matter which team he faces. Consider him a must-start regardless of the matchup.

Alexander caught seven passes on 11 targets for 88 yards and two touchdowns Sunday against the Steelers.
Analysis: Another big game for Alexander, who has recorded at least 100 yards or a touchdown in four of the past five games. He's clearly developed an excellent relationship with Philip Rivers during his short time in San Diego and has another favorable matchup next week against a Panthers' defense that allowed touchdowns to both Roddy White and Julio Jones on Sunday.

Analysis: Rivers hasn't scored more than 13.21 fantasy points his last three matchups and is unlikely to find much success against the Steelers' top ranked secondary. The unit is allowing an average of just 166 passing yards per game and 13 touchdowns this season.

Alexander had six catches on 10 targets for 102 yards Sunday against the Bengals.
Analysis: Alexander's surprise fantasy value continues, as he's recorded at least 95 receiving yards in three of the last four games. His jump from relative obscurity to the Chargers' top wideout has been extremely surprising but fantasy owners who were able to grab him off of waivers or with decent FAAB bids are happy to see where he is now. Unfortunately, he's got a very tough matchup next week, as the Chargers travel to Pittsburgh to face their staunch pass defense.

Alexander (thigh) practiced fully Wednesday, the Chargers' official site reports.

Alexander, who led the Chargers in receiving yards for the fourth consecutive game Sunday, catching five passes for 74 yards, suffered a thigh injury in the game, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Analysis: More on Alexander's status in the coming days, though in the past, injuries have held the wideout back, so hopefully this is a minor one. Fortunately, as it has been reported, the injury that Alexander suffered Sunday is not related to his oft-repaired left knee.

Alexander had five catches on eight targets for 74 yards Sunday against the Ravens.
Analysis: Alexander was the most targeted receiver again Sunday while also leading the Chargers in receptions and receiving yards. However, it was Malcom Floyd who scored a touchdown, keeping Alexander from extending his touchdown-streak to three games. Nevertheless, he remains a very viable fantasy option moving forward thanks to his great relationship with Philip Rivers.

Ravens stingy against wideouts
In his Week 12 "Start 'Em, Sit 'Em" analysis, Michael Fabiano notes the Chargers WRs "have a tough matchup coming up against the Ravens, who have given up the third-fewest fantasy points to opposing wide receivers on the road (15.60 PPG)." FULL START 'EM, SIT 'EM
Analysis: Floyd had put up consecutive double-digit games before last week, when he had just 6.70 fantasy points in a loss to the Denver Broncos. Floyd is also losing more targets to Danario Alexander, who has scored the second-most fantasy points (41) among all wideouts the last two weeks.

Alexander had seven catches on 11 targets for 96 yards and two touchdowns Sunday against the Broncos.
Analysis: Alexander continues to pay dividends to fantasy owners that grabbed him off the waiver wire. He has quickly developed a great chemistry with quarterback Philip Rivers, scoring three touchdowns in two games and recording more than 95 receiving yards in each contest. He's got another favorable matchup next week against a Ravens' defense that was ranked 26th in the league against the pass heading into Sunday.

After five different surgeries on his left knee dating back to 2010 and a more recently balky hamstring, Alexander is finally healthy and is paying huge dividends for the Chargers, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Analysis: Alexander was cut by the Rams this season during training camp when his hamstring flared up, but there were also reports out of St. Louis indicating that the team was worried that his knee would never again be healthy and stable. So far in San Diego, Alexander says that he is feeling great. "There were some issues after my last surgery (in 2010)," Alexander said. "But I have been able to maintain it and keep it as healthy as it is now. I'm fine. I feel great. I'm so excited to be a Charger." The Chargers are also happy to have him as he has already developed a better chemistry with Philip Rivers in just three weeks than the high priced free agent acquisition Robert Meachem all season long. It was just one game, but Sunday at Tampa Bay, Alexander was on the field for 59 of 66 offensive plays, while Meachem only participated in eight snaps. If that trend continues, Alexander will obviously be far more valuable than Meachem despite the size of their contracts.

It has been confirmed that Alexander will draw the starting assignment opposite Malcom Floyd on Sunday against the Bucs, the Chargers' official site reports.

Head coach Norv Turner said that Alexander "will be a big part of what we do", even after Robert Meachem (hamstring) and Eddie Royal (hamstring) return from injuries, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Analysis: Alexander isn't likely to start once Meachem and Royal are healthy, but he could rotate in and see some time in three or four-receiver packages. His immense physical gifts probably won't translate into meaningful fantasy production, but crazier things have happened, and Alexander is at least worth keeping an eye on if you're in need of a wide receiver in a deep league.

With Robert Meachem and Eddie Royal both inactive Thursday against the Chiefs, Alexander drew the starting assignment in Meachem's place, caught all three balls thrown his way for 61 yards.

Analysis: Alexander's hamstring is clearly not 100 percent and head coach Jeff Fisher didn't want to push it. All that being said, time is running out for Alexander to prove he can stay on the field. With so much competition at wide receiver, one has to believe that unless Alexander just blows up in the preseason games, he'll either end up on the waiver wire or at the bottom of the wide receiver depth chart come September 8th.

Alexander insists that his surgically-repaired left knee is no longer an issue, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Alexander has had no less than five surgeries on the knee that he first injured just prior to the Senior Bowl in 2010. Outside of that injury, the lanky wideout has suffered a myriad of other minor injuries which have kept him sidelined off and on for the last two years. Coming into this year's camp, he needed to prove he could stay healthy but was sidelined the first week of camp with a bad hamstring. He's back and says he's healthy, but it may be too little too late as the competition at wide receiver is intense this year in Rams camp and there just may not be any room left for a guy that the club hasn't been able to depend on, regardless of how talented he is.

Alexander's (hamstring) chances of landing a spot on the final roster lay almost entirely in whether or not he can stay on the field, St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: There is no doubting that Alexander possesses a ridiculous amount of potential, but the issue is his chronic knee problems, which have sidelined him for much of the last two seasons. At the end of the day the club is probably going to push him and see if his knee can hold up to a long camp and lots of reps in the preseason. If it can, he'll make the team and could potentially start. If he has more issues like he's experiencing now (a hamstring issue more than likely linked to him compensating for the knee), then expect the club to finally tire of the experiment.
