Analysis: The Seahawks are looking to boost their pass rush, with Abraham, who was recently released by the Falcons, coming off a 10-sack campaign. Given that sort of production, he'd be a great fit for Seattle, at the right price.

Analysis: Abraham was a beast all day, and finished with five solo tackles. The Falcons have a bye in Week 7 before traveling to Philadelphia to take on the fumble-prone Mike Vick.

Analysis: He also tallied a sack and a forced fumble on the night. Abraham could be a beast in 2012 in the Falcons offense puts up a lot of points, forcing opposing teams into passing situations.

Analysis: Abraham will look to improve on his 9.5 sack season from last year as the Falcons look to regain the top the NFC South standings in 2012.

Falcons to employ stand up rushers

Even with new defensive coordinator Mike Nolan in the fold, the Atlanta Falcons don't figure to see major changes in their scheme. But one thing that is expected to be different will be the use of ends Kroy Biermann, Lawrence Sidbury and John Abraham as stand up edge rushers in order to take advantage of their speed.

Analysis: The Falcons will need to improve upon a mediocre 33 team sacks if they're going to step up in the eyes of fantasy football GMs. With four games against Drew Brees and Cam Newton, they'll need to be able to corral quarterbacks to be anything other than a matchup-based option.

Abraham re-signed with Atlanta to a three-year, $21 million contract, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Analysis: Abraham turned in another solid campaign in 2012 with 9.5 sacks. Though relatively old at age 33, Abraham remains one of the top 4-3 defensive ends in the league. The Falcons' weakness remains at the opposite end of the defensive line, where the recently re-signed Kroy Biermann contributed only 2.5 sacks last season.

Abraham finished the season with 35 tackles, 9.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and one funble recovered.

Analysis: Abraham's tackle and sack numbers were down from 2010, but he forced twice as many turnovers in 2011. He's set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and it will be interesting to see where the 12-year veteran lands. The Falcons would likely be the favorite to retain his services, but Abraham turns 34 during the offseason and may elect to sign with a team that gives him a better chance of winning that elusive championship.

Abraham had a sack against the Buccaneers in Week 17.

Analysis: Abraham had a fairly inconsistent first half of the season, but aided by a 3.5 sack performance in Week 15; he closes out the 2011 regular season with 6.5 sacks in the last seven games. The strong finish enabled him to register at least 9.5 sacks for the eighth time in his 12-year career.

Abraham had a huge game Thursday, racking up 3.5 sacks and forcing two fumbles against the Jaguars.

Analysis: One of Abraham's forced fumbles was scooped up by Corey Peters, who scored a touchdown on the play. The Falcons will need another performance like this against Drew Brees and the Saints in Week 16 if Atlanta wants to knock off the top dogs in the NFC South.

Analysis: Abraham hasn't gotten to the quarterback nearly as much as the Falcons had hoped this season, but he has a nice matchup this week against the pass-happy Panthers.

Analysis: Abraham has struggled accumulating sacks this season as he now has just five on the season. He does have two in the last three games, however. With games against the Panthers (28 sacks allowed) and the Jaguars (32 sacks allowed) in the next two weeks, he has a good opportunity to pad his totals a bit.

Analysis: A matchup with the bumbling Colts may help Abraham build on his season total of three sacks. He's safe to roll with if you need him.
