Pre-Season Outlook
The Jaguars took Allen in the seventh round this spring, 236th overall, after drafting Bhayshul Tuten in the fourth round. At 6-feet, 204 pounds, Allen doesn't have the conventional build of an NFL running back, looking more like a wide receiver to the naked eye. To that end, he may end up making his living as a passing-down back in the NFL, despite leading the ACC with 16 rushing touchdowns last year. His rushing work at Syracuse otherwise failed to impress, with Allen topping 200 carries each of the past two seasons but averaging just 4.3 and 4.6 YPC. He made up for it with durability and 119 receptions, including a 64-521-4 receiving line in his final season. Allen will first need to win a roster spot in a backfield that has Tuten, Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby, but there's potential to eventually earn a pass-catching role.
