Opts out of 2020
Mosley opted out of the 2020 campaign Saturday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Mosley becomes arguably the biggest name so far to accept the NFL's opt-out option. He signed a monster five-year, $85 million deal with the Jets in March of 2019, but he only played two games last year before suffering a season-ending groin injury. It will now be September of 2021 before he suits up for his third game with the team.

Receives full clearance
Mosley (groin) said Wednesday that he's "cleared to do everything" and will be healthy for the start of training camp, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.
Analysis: The 27-year-old indicated in early May he was still progressing through his rehab program from December core muscle surgery, and he's now been able to make cuts, plant and do football movements, per Rich Cimini of ESPN.com. Mosley appeared in only two games last year during his first season in New York, suffering the injury in the season opener and then aggravating the issue when he tried to return Week 7. All in all, Mosley's return to full health is good news for the Jets, and he should…read more

Not yet 100 percent
Mosley (groin) continues to progress in his rehab program but isn't fully recovered from his December surgery, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The 27-year-old was limited to only two games in 2019 during his first season with the Jets and remains on the mend nearly five months after surgery. Mosley previously expected to be ready for training camp, but the limitations on team activities amid the coronavirus pandemic could cloud his progression leading up to camp.

Still progressing in recovery
Jets general manager Joe Douglas said Wednesday that Mosley (groin) is "progressing well" from his December surgery, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.
Analysis: The 27-year-old appeared in only two games in 2019 due to the groin injury and underwent surgery in December, but he's not yet fully healthy nearly four months later. Mosley said earlier in the offseason he expects to be ready for spring workouts, and there's been no indication of any setbacks or a change in his recovery timeline.

Progressing from injury
Mosley (groin) said Sunday that he expects to be ready for spring workouts, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Mosley is now six weeks removed from undergoing groin surgery to address the issue that he suffered Week 1. The Alabama product reiterated that he's jogging "a little bit" now and is recovering nicely from surgery. Mosley was limited to just two games in 2019, racking up nine tackles (four solo), two defended passes, an interception returned for a touchdown and one recovered fumble.

Done for the season
The Jets placed Mosley (groin) on injured reserve Tuesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Mosley is slated to undergo surgery to address the groin strain he suffered Week 1. The 27-year-old only played two games in his first season with the Jets, recording nine tackles (four solo), two defended passes, one interception (which he returned for a touchdown) and one recovered fumble. He's expected to return to health in time for spring workouts, according to Andy Vasquez of The Bergen Record.

Sits out against Bengals
Mosley (groin) didn't play in Sunday's 22-6 loss to the Bengals, Randy Lange of the Jets' official site reports.
Analysis: After not practicing all week, it's not surprising that Mosley was unable to suit up against the previously winless Bengals. There are still concerns that Mosley won't gear up again this season since he's been dealing with this issue since Week 1. If that's the case, James Burgess figures to remain a starter at inside linebacker.

Still not practicing
Mosley (groin) is not practicing Thursday, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: Mosley appears on track to sit out Sunday's tilt against Cincinnati, and it remains to be seen whether he'll retake the field during the 2019 season. As long as Mosley is unable to play, the Jets will continue to field James Burgess at inside linebacker.

Trending in wrong direction
Mosley (groin) is unlikely to return this season, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Coach Adam Gase didn't have much optimism when asked about Mosley's status Wednesday. Supporting the notion, the 27-year-old has dealt with this issue since the start of the season and was handed a minimum five-week timeline in late October. For the time being, James Burgess is slated to continue lining up at inside linebacker. Mosley has four years left on a $17 million AAV deal.
