Available Week 17
Williams (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Rams.
Analysis: The 26-year-old received the questionable tag after sitting out Week 16 with the ankle injury, but he's ready to go Sunday. Williams and Darrell Daniels (hamstring) should work behind starter Dan Arnold.

Questionable for Week 17
Williams (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Williams closed out the practice week with back-to-back limited sessions, but he's still uncertain for the season finale. Darrell Daniels (hamstring) is also questionable for Sunday. Dan Arnold is expected to lead the position group regardless, and Seth DeValve will see more work against the Rams if Williams and Daniels are unavailable.

Upgraded to limited in practice
Williams (ankle) was listed as a limited participant for the Cardinals' practice session Thursday.
Analysis: Williams' ankle issue kept him out during Arizona's Week 16 loss to the 49ers, resulting in the 26-year-old's first absence since he overcame the ankle injury that kept him on IR between Sept. 21 and Nov. 7. He appears to be trending in a positive direction for the Cardinals' regular-season finale at the Rams, but the fact that Dan Arnold (back) has a positive outlook for Week 17 reduces the likelihood of increased passing-game involvement for Williams.

Non-participant Wednesday
Williams (ankle) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Williams and Darrell Daniels (hamstring) both sat out of Wednesday's session, while Dan Arnold (back) was a limited participant. Seth DeValve was the only tight end without an injury tag to start the practice week. Williams missed last week's loss to the 49ers, so he'll need to get back on the practice field by Friday to have a shot at playing in Week 17.

Unavailable Saturday
Williams (ankle) is listed as inactive Saturday against the 49ers.
Analysis: Williams' absence isn't much of a surprise after he failed to practice in any capacity this week, the result of an ankle injury. In Williams' stead, Dan Arnold (back) is poised to be the Cardinals' primary tight end, with Darrell Daniels and Seth DeValve available as well.

Tagged questionable for Week 16
Williams (ankle) is considered questionable for Saturday's matchup against the 49ers, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: The 26-year-old was unable to contribute even a limited practice session this week, but he still seemingly has a chance to suit up Saturday afternoon. Williams was forced to exit last Sunday's win over the Eagles after 23 offensive snaps, but not before he collected a season-high receiving total of 42 yards on his one catch.

Doesn't practice Wednesday
Williams (ankle) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: As was fellow tight end Darrell Daniels (hamstring). With the duo unable to practice so far this week, Dan Arnold is the sole healthy TE on the Cardinals' active roster. The team will determine the availability for both Williams and Daniels upon the release of its final Week 16 injury report Thursday.

Not practicing Wednesday
Williams (ankle) was not spotted at the portion of Wednesday's practice open to the media, Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Coach Kliff Kingsbury called Williams "day-to-day" after he was forced out of last weekend's win over the Eagles, but it doesn't seem like the tight end is ready to resume handling reps yet. With Darrell Daniels (hamstring) also working through an injury, Dan Arnold is Arizona's only fully healthy tight end to begin Week 16.

Deemed day-to-day
Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Tuesday that Williams (ankle) is considered day-to-day, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: Williams left last week's win over the Eagles with an ankle injury, and Kingsbury called it "nothing too significant." The 26-year-old was listed as DNP on Tuesday's practice estimate, and his status will become clearer when the team actually takes the field Wednesday.

Leaves with ankle injury
Williams (ankle) will not return to Sunday's game against the Eagles, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Williams exited Sunday's contest in the first half, but the Cardinals didn't rule him out until the third quarter. Dan Arnold could see an uptick in opportunities as long as Williams remains sidelined.

Gets back on box score
Williams recorded two receptions (on two targets) for 17 yards during Sunday's 26-7 road victory against the Giants.
Analysis: The return of Larry Fitzgerald from the reserve/COVID-19 list resulted in more two-TE sets, with Williams earning 65 percent of the snaps on offense. Meanwhile, Dan Arnold had a 2-27-1 line on 30 percent of those plays, while Seth DeValve was held without a catch on a 34-percent snap share. Despite bringing up the rear in terms of usage, Arnold is the clear pass-catching member of the unit, as Williams spends most of his time as a blocker.

Gets blanked Week 13
Williams wasn't targeted during Sunday's 38-28 loss to the Rams.
Analysis: The Cardinals mostly ditched use of tight ends in this contest, with Williams leading the way with 18 of 64 snaps on offense. Meanwhile, Dan Arnold (nine) and Seth DeValve (two) were further down the list. Arnold took full advantage of his few opportunities -- two catches, 61 yards and two TDs on three targets -- but Williams and DeValve were blanked entirely. With a 5-43-1 line on seven targets in his six appearances this season, Williams doesn't hold much sway in the fantasy realm.

Makes two catches Sunday
Williams hauled in both targets for 10 yards during Sunday's 20-17 loss in New England.
Analysis: Williams logged a season-high share of the snaps on offense (72 percent), which was well ahead of Dan Arnold (36) and practice squad callup Evan Baylis (30). Still, aside from a TD in Week 9 and a 25-yard catch Week 11, Williams has contributed almost nothing (3-14-0 on five targets) in his five appearances this season. Instead, Arnold is slightly more reliable for production (18-225-1 on 25 targets in 11 contests) than Williams on a game-to-game basis.

Logs full practice Thursday
Williams (illness) was listed as a full participant on Thursday's practice estimate, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Williams took Wednesday off to tend to an illness, but with his elevation to full one day later he's set to serve as the Cardinals' top tight end yet again. Meanwhile, Darrell Daniels (ankle) hasn't practiced at all this week, which could set up a scenario in which Williams and Dan Arnold are the only TEs available to the offense Sunday at New England.

Comes down with illness
Williams didn't take part in practice Wednesday due to an illness, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Williams has logged far more time off the field than on it this season, the result of an ankle issue that forced a lengthy stint on injured reserve. He's now come down with an illness, which at the moment isn't believed to be connected to COVID-19. Fellow tight end Darrell Daniels (ankle) also was held out Wednesday, so Dan Arnold is the only healthy Cardinals tight end at the moment.

Nabs two catches Thursday
Williams reeled in both of his targets for 29 yards during Thursday's 28-21 loss in Seattle.
Analysis: Williams accounted for the Cardinals' longest play of the game, a 25-yard catch to help set up the team's first touchdown at the start of the second quarter. Otherwise, he was relatively quiet, despite pacing Arizona tight ends in offensive snap share (57 percent). Meanwhile, Dan Arnold (a four-yard TD catch on two targets, 39 percent) and practice squad callup Evan Baylis (no targets, nine percent) scooped up the remaining work given to the position group. Available Thursday
Williams (ankle) is listed as active Thursday at Seattle.
Analysis: Despite logging just one limited practice this week, Williams will be available for a third straight game. He paced Cardinals tight ends with an offensive snap share of 53 percent this past Sunday, with Dan Arnold (48) and Darrell Daniels (19) behind him. However, Daniels (ankle) isn't suiting up Thursday, which could give Williams and Arnold a bit more opportunity to produce.

Status in question for Thursday
Williams (ankle) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game at Seattle.
Analysis: After concluding last week with back-to-back limited sessions before suiting up in Sunday's win over the Bills, Williams didn't get in any practice reps until Wednesday this week. Still, he at least took part in a practice, which can't be said for fellow tight end Darrell Daniels (ankle). If Daniels ends up sitting out Week 11, Williams -- if active -- and Dan Arnold would split all the reps at the position.

Williams (ankle) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate.
Analysis: Williams kicked off last week with no practice reps before ending it with back-to-back limited sessions and a questionable designation for Week 10. He proceeded to lead Cardinals tight ends in offensive snap share (53 percent) during Sunday's 32-30 victory against the Bills, ahead of Dan Arnold (48) and Darrell Daniels (19). Suiting up Week 10
Williams (ankle) is listed as active Sunday versus the Bills.
Analysis: Williams' practice reps were capped this week due to an ankle injury, but it won't inhibit him from suiting up Sunday. Considering Cardinals tight ends haven't been targeted much this season, Williams is difficult to trust with Darrell Daniels and Dan Arnold also on hand for snaps.

Questionable with ankle injury
Williams (ankle) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Williams, who also missed Weeks 2 through 7 due to an ankle injury, put forth a trio of limited practices leading up to Sunday's contest. He turned his only target into a four-yard touchdown in his return to the field versus Miami last weekend, while playing 49 percent of snaps, so he could once again play a modest role on offense if he's able to suit up against Buffalo.

Upgrades to limited practice
Williams (ankle) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Williams seems be dealing with the residual effects of the ankle injury that sidelined him Weeks 2 through 7. In his return to action this past Sunday against the Dolphins, he turned his only target into a four-yard touchdown. Assuming he's able to tough out the injury, Williams likely will lead a TE group that also includes Darrell Daniels and Dan Arnold on Sunday versus the Bills.

Still, he led the way for the Cardinals' tight ends in the loss to the Dolphins, playing 34 of 69 offensive snaps, while Darrell Daniels earned 29 and Dan Arnold had 18. Returns to active roster
The Cardinals activated Williams (ankle) from injured reserve Saturday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Williams hasn't played since the season opener, when he handled 52 percent of the offensive workload but failed to secure either of his two targets. While it's unsettled how much Williams will play right away, the starting role does appear available, as Dan Arnold's snap share fell to 25 percent last week, while Darrell Daniels finished ahead of him for a second straight week with a 50 percent share.

Coach Kliff Kingsbury said he hopes Williams (ankle) will be activated from injured reserve and have a role in Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Bob McManaman of The Arizona Republic reports.
Analysis: The 26-year-old was designated to return from injured reserve Monday and is back at practice, but he'll need to be activated by 4 p.m. ET on Saturday to be able to face the Dolphins. Regardless of whether he plays Sunday, Williams is on the cusp of returning to game action.

Williams (ankle) was designated to return from injured reserve Monday.
Analysis: Coach Kilff Kingbury indicated in early October he expected the 26-year-old to return around the team's Week 8 bye, and he will indeed be back at practice following the off week. Williams could be activated for Sunday's contest against Miami if he shows well this week at practice.

Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Williams (ankle) will hopefully be able to return around Arizona's Week 8 bye, Kevin Zimmerman of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Analysis: The 26-year-old landed on injured reserve Sept. 21 with the ankle injury and is eligible to return for the Oct. 19 matchup at Dallas during Week 6, but it appears he may need a little more time to recover. The Cardinals placed Williams (ankle) on injured reserve Monday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Williams missed this past Sunday's win over Washington with an ankle injury, and the Cardinals have opted to shut him down for at least the next three games. Out against Washington
Williams (ankle) has been ruled out of Sunday's game versus Washington, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Williams (ankle) is not practicing Thursday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Williams managed to play through his ankle injury during Sunday's win over the 49ers, during which he failed to secure either of his two targets. However, his availability for Week 2's game against Washington now looks to be in jeopardy. In the event that Williams is forced to miss any time or ends up limited, Dan Arnold would stand to handle a larger snap share at the tight end position.

Doesn't produce Sunday
Williams was blanked on two targets during Sunday's 24-20 win at San Francisco.
Analysis: The Cardinals offense racked up a whopping 82 offensive snaps, with Williams earning 43 of them (52 percent). After leading the team's tight ends in offensive snap share (46 percent) last season, he was a close second in the category Week 1 to Dan Arnold, who started, played 45 such snaps (55 percent) and hauled in both targets for 21 yards. While the two may have an even split of the TE reps in 2020, Williams doesn't hold the same fantasy sway that Arnold does.

Analysis: Williams was a limited participant both Wednesday and Thursday. However, after logging his first full practice Friday, he'll be ready to suit up in the team's Week 1 matchup against San Francisco after he shed his injury designation. Back to work Monday
Williams (undisclosed) returned to Monday's practice, Kyle Odegard of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: This is outstanding news for the Minnesota product, as he missed the past two weeks of practice with the undisclosed issue. The 26-year-old is the favorite to serve as Arizona's official starting tight end, although he only racked up 15 catches for 202 yards and a touchdown last season. Analysis: It remains to be seen what sort of issue has kept Williams off the field for three straight days, but for now there's no reason to worry about his availability for Week 1. The 26-year-old is the favorite to serve as Arizona's official starting tight end, though his skillset lends more favorable to blocking than catching passes.

Elevated from NFI list
The Cardinals activated Williams from the active/non-football illness list Tuesday, Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com reports.
Analysis: After a short stay on the list, Williams is back on the active roster following what coach Kliff Kingsbury called an "extended physical", per Darren Urban of the team's official site. Within the construct of the Cardinals offense, Williams acts primarily as a blocking tight end, despite his standing as No. 1 on the depth chart. On to NFI list
The Cardinals placed Williams on the active/non-football illness list Sunday, Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com reports.
Analysis: Williams at least didn't land on the dreaded reserve/COVID-19 list, but his start to strength and conditioning will be delayed for the time being. He enters the 2020 season as the Cardinals' No. 1 tight end, but his utility as a receiver is limited, as evidenced by his 15-202-1 line on 18 targets from a year ago. Williams is expected to be the primary blocking TE, when healthy, while position mate Dan Arnold likely will be a red-zone option for quarterback Kyler Murray.

Analysis: Meanwhile, Charles Clay (calf) received 37.7 percent, Dan Arnold scooped up 5.5 percent in just three appearances with the team, and Darrell Daniels brought up the rear with 4.5 percent. Williams and Clay barely surpassed 200 yards receiving apiece, but Arnold, a late-season addition off waivers, managed a 6-102-2 line on 10 targets. Analysis: Aside from Kenyan Drake's 80-yard dash to the end zone in the first quarter, the Cardinals' longest play of Week 16 was Kyler Murray's connection with Williams for 28 yards. Otherwise, William's key contribution to the game was his third-quarter tackle of Seahawks safety Marquise Blair, who was attempting to house a blocked field goal but instead was stopped by the veteran tight end after a 46-yard return. Records one catch Sunday
Williams had a four-yard reception on his only target during Sunday's 38-24 victory over the Browns.
Analysis: Williams showed up on the injury report last Thursday as a limited participant due to a knee issue but practiced in full Friday and didn't have a designation for this contest. The catch actually marked his first since Week 10, leaving him with a 12-143-1 line on 15 targets for the season. Now that he's appeared on the injury report in the middle of the week, Williams may have injured himself on the practice field. Goes without target Sunday
Williams started but wasn't targeted during Sunday's 34-7 defeat to the Rams.
Analysis: Williams logged just 18 of 64 offensive snaps, while fellow tight end Charles Clay turned his 31 such plays into two receptions (on two targets) for 29 yards. On the season, Williams has a very slight lead on Clay in terms of share of plays on offense -- 41.5 versus 41.0 percent -- and Clay (15-198-0 on 20 targets) and Williams (11-139-1 on 13 targets) have fairly similar season-long lines. Analysis: Assuming he's able to ditch the illness by week's end, Williams will continue to split TE reps with fellow veteran Charles Clay. On the season, Williams has a slight lead in offensive snap share -- 41.4 versus 37.4 percent -- but Clay leads, 17-13, on the target front through 10 games.

Reels in another reception
Williams had one catch (on two targets) for 15 yards during Sunday's 30-27 loss in Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Aside from getting blanked in Week 3 and scoring a TD on three targets three games later, Williams has recorded exactly one catch in each of the Cardinals' eight other contests. Such production isn't intriguing, to say the least, and Williams continues to split the TE workload with Charles Clay, seeing 44 percent of the offensive snaps Sunday to the latter's 46 percent. Expect the status quo to remain moving forward, which leaves little room for Williams to produce.

Notches one reception Week 9
Williams compiled one catch (on two targets) for 12 yards during Thursday's 28-25 loss to the 49ers.
Analysis: Williams received both of his targets on the Cardinals' first drive of the game, and despite getting 42 of 57 offensive snaps to fellow tight end Charles Clay's 24, the former didn't make an impression the rest of the way. Aside from a touchdown in Week 6, Williams hasn't made much of an impact this season, topping out at 34 receiving yards during that same game. No matter, the aforementioned duo will continue to split the TE reps in some fashion on a weekly basis.
