Cut by Baltimore
Thomas (shoulder) was released by the Ravens from the active/PUP list with an injury settlement Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Analysis: Thomas suffered a separated shoulder and a labrum injury at some point this offseason, which will require surgery, so Baltimore moved on Tuesday. The wide receiver will likely be forced to miss the entirety of the 2023 campaign and set his sights on a potential return in 2024.

Opens camp on PUP list
Thomas (shoulder) was placed on the active/PUP list by the Ravens on Friday.
Analysis: Thomas will open camp on the sidelines as he continues to recover from shoulder surgery, but the wide receiver is eligible to return to the practice field at any point ahead of the preseason. The Ravens' first exhibition is set for Aug. 12 against the Eagles.

Will need surgery on shoulder
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Wednesday that Thomas will need to undergo surgery to address a separated shoulder, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: It's unclear when Thomas suffered the injury, but he'll presumably be unavailable for the rest of Baltimore's OTAs and perhaps the start of training camp. The reserve wideout latched on with the Ravens' practice squad last December and earned a reserve/future contract in January, but he's a long shot to make the 2023 Week 1 roster, especially if he remains sidelined to begin camp.

Retained by Baltimore
The Ravens signed Thomas to a reserve/future contract Monday, Ryan Mink of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Thomas joined Baltimore's practice squad Dec. 20 almost exactly one month after he was waived by the Bengals. Over the past three years with Cincinnati, the 28-year-old caught 20 of 42 targets for 222 yards and a touchdown in 36 regular-season games. The veteran wideout never received an elevation from the Ravens' practice squad even though starting wideouts Rashod Bateman (foot) and Devin Duvernay (foot) both finished the season on IR. Joins Ravens' practice squad
Baltimore signed Thomas to its practice squad Tuesday, Clifton Brown of the Ravens' official site reports.
Analysis: Just less than a month after being waived by Cincinnati, Thomas has found another opportunity with a division rival. With Tylan Wallace (hamstring) and Rashod Bateman (foot) both on the injured reserve list, it wouldn't be surprising to see the 28-year-old wideout Thomas be elevated as soon as Saturday's game versus Atlanta.

Waived by Bengals
Thomas was waived by the Bengals on Monday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Analysis: Thomas being removed from the roster may suggest that fellow wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase is close to returning from his hip injury. Cincinnati gave Thomas opportunities on the outside while Chase and Tee Higgins missed time due to injuries this season, but the 28-year-old wide receiver failed to capitalize, catching just two of 10 targets for 38 yards.

No targets in Week 9
Thomas didn't have any targets in the Bengals' win over the Panthers, despite playing 22 offensive snaps.
Analysis: It didn't help Thomas that the Bengals were running the ball so well, but it also appears as if Trent Taylor and even practice squad receiver Trenton Irwin have eclipsed Thomas. So much for the notion that he would step up with Ja'Marr Chase (hip) out.

Comes up empty Week 9
Thomas failed to bring in his lone target while playing 24 of the Bengals' 53 snaps on offense in Monday's 32-13 loss to the Browns.
Analysis: Though he was one of several pass catchers who moved into a larger role with Ja'Marr Chase (hip) sidelined for the contest, Thomas nor any of the Bengals' other pass-catching options came through with notable receiving production on a night the Browns dominated the time of possession. A more favorable matchup could await the Bengals in Week 9 against the 2-6 Panthers, but Thomas is still likely to find himself behind all of Tee Higgins, Tyler Boyd and Hayden Hurst in the team's pass-catching…read more

Plays four offensive snaps in win
Thomas played on just four offensive snaps and failed to see a single target in Sunday's 30-26 win over the Saints.
Analysis: Thomas was a complete nonfactor in the Bengals' offense with fellow wideout Tee Higgins back in the mix Sunday. Barring injuries to the team's pass catchers, the 28-year-old receiver will find it hard to have much of an impact with limited opportunities on offense. Thomas remains far off the fantasy radar heading into a Week 7 matchup with the Falcons.

Forced into extra duty
Thomas played 41 offensive snaps in Sunday night's loss to the Ravens, catching one pass on three targets for 33 yards.
Analysis: Thomas saw extra action with Tee Higgins out most of the game due to an ankle injury. The target share, even with Higgins out, illustrates the low likelihood Thomas will have a big role in the offense at any point.

Thrust into duty Week 1
Thomas totaled one catch for five yards on five targets while playing 64 snaps on offense Sunday in the Bengals' 23-20 overtime loss to the Steelers.
Analysis: Thomas was on the field much more than expected Week 1, a result of fellow wideout Tee Higgins leaving early with a concussion. Among his five targets was a drop in the end zone on the play preceding Ja'Marr Chase's game-tying touchdown in the waning seconds of regulation. If Higgins has to miss the Bengals' Week 2 game in Dallas, Thomas will take on the third receiver role, given Cincinnati's lack of appealing alternatives.

Released by Cincy
The Bengals released Thomas on Tuesday.
Analysis: Thomas appeared in 26 games across the past two seasons with Cincinnati, totaling 18 receptions for 184 yards and one score, so his release comes as a surprise. He's only finished with over 100 receiving yards once in his six-year career, but he has extensive special-teams experience, which may be intriguing for some teams around the league.

Remains locked into depth role
Thomas caught two of three targets for 18 yards in Saturday's 16-7 preseason win over the Rams.
Analysis: Thomas' first catch was a 12-yarder on the Bengals' first offensive play of the game. His early usage is an encouraging sign for Thomas' standing in Cincinnati's wide receiver pecking order, as he appears to be the team's top option behind the starting trio of Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins (shoulder) and Tyler Boyd. Thomas is unlikely to push any of those three for playing time, but he also appears to be a safe bet to make the 53-man roster in a reserve role.

Re-signs with Bengals
Thomas is re-signing with the Bengals on Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Thomas will return for a third straight season in Cincinnati, where he recorded five catches for 52 yards on 11 targets last year. The depth wideout and special-teams contributor remains off the fantasy radar, however.

Modest production
Thomas secured five of 11 targets for 52 yards across 12 games in 2021.
Analysis: Thomas took a statistical step back in 2021, a campaign which saw him play roughly just half the offensive snaps (133) he did in 2020. This offseason, the 27-year-old is scheduled to hit free agency.

Activated off COVID-19 list
Thomas was activated off the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday.
Analysis: Thomas missed just one game during his stint in the league's health and safety protocols. Now that he's cleared protocols, he's expected to reclaim his usual reserve role behind the Bengals' trio of talented receivers in Week 17.

Lands on COVID list
Thomas (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
Analysis: It's unclear whether Thomas tested positive for the virus of if he's considered a close contact, but he'll now be unavailable until he clears the health and safety protocols. He has only five catches for 52 yards in 10 games this season, so his absence shouldn't affect Cincinnati's offensive game plan.

Inactive against Chargers
Thomas (illness) is inactive Week 13 against the Chargers, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
Analysis: Thomas did not practice all week due to illness and entered the week with a doubtful tag as a result. He had primarily been a special teamer when active this season, a role that could end up in the hands Trenton Irwin or the recently activated Pooka Williams.

Doubtful due to illness
Thomas (illness) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Bengals team reporter Marisa Contipelli reports.
Analysis: Thomas looks like he'll miss out on a potential opportunity for a few extra snaps on offense, as fellow wide receiver Auden Tate (calf) is also listed as doubtful. The 27-year-old Thomas hasn't caught more than one pass in a game this season.

Not practicing due to illness

Nabs first reception since Week 4
Thomas played nine of the Bengals' 70 offensive snaps and caught his lone target for a 16-yard gain in Sunday's 41-16 loss to the Browns.
Analysis: The reception was Thomas' first since Week 4, as he was sidelined with an ankle injury from Weeks 5 through 7 before failing to draw a target in his return to the lineup Week 8 against the Jets. While all of Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd are healthy, Thomas is expected to handle a minor role in the passing attack and rotate in only when one of the three starters needs a breather.

Thomas (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game at Baltimore, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.

Thomas (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Lions, according to Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site.
Analysis: Thomas logged a full practice Friday, but that wasn't enough to activate him and now he's set to miss a second straight contest. The wideout has racked up three receptions for 24 yards this season, and his next chance to feature will come at Baltimore on Oct. 24.

Thomas (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Lions.

Thomas (ankle) was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
Analysis: Thomas sat out Sunday's loss to the Packers due to the ankle issue, but he's back at practice to start this week. The 27-year-old should be able to avoid an injury designation for Week 6 if he can progress to full practice participation Thursday or Friday.

Won't play, as expected
Thomas (ankle) is inactive Week 5 against the Packers, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Thomas entered the week with a "doubtful" tag after missing practice entirely Friday. With few contributions on offense this season, coupled with the return of Tee Higgins (shoulder), Thomas likely wouldn't have been much of a fantasy factor anyway.

Thomas (ankle) is listed as doubtful on the Bengals' injury report, but he is not expected to play Sunday, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Barring a major change of events, Thomas will not be active for Sunday's contest against the Packers. Dehner reports that he will be shut down, but the Bengals have yet to make his game status official. The 27-year-old wideout has caught three passes for 24 yards this season.

Thomas (ankle) won't play Sunday against the Packers, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.

Managing ankle issue
Thomas was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice due to an ankle injury, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.

One catch in Week 4

Catches one pass in win
Thomas caught his only target for 19 yards in Sunday's 24-10 win over the Steelers.
Analysis: The 27-year-old played on just 10 offensive snaps in the contest, amounting to a 21 percent share. Even with fellow wideout Tee Higgins sidelined with a shoulder injury, Thomas was not a big part of the Bengals' game plan. Through three weeks, he has totaled 24 yards on just two catches. Thomas remains well off the fantasy radar entering a Week 4 tilt against the Jaguars.

Catches one pass in season opener
Thomas caught one of three targets for five yards during Sunday's 27-24 win over the Vikings.

Rejoins Bengals
Cincinnati re-signed Thomas on Thursday, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
Analysis: Thomas was released by Cincinnati on Wednesday while the team cut down to the initial 53-man roster, and in the aftermath, he's been able to secure a spot in the wide receiver room once again. The Bengals re-signed Thomas to a one-year deal Thursday, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports
Analysis: Thomas appeared in 14 games with the team during the 2020 campaign, during which he caught 13 of his 21 targets for 132 yards and one touchdown. Though the 26-year-old saw an increase in offensive playing time this past season, it will likely take a few injuries before the receiver makes his way up the depth chart.

Ending with a fizzle
Thomas finished the season with 13 catches for 132 yards and a touchdown, but didn't have a catch after Week 7.

The 26-year-old was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday before upgrading to full participation Friday. Analysis: The stage was set here after Thomas missed Friday's practice and entered the week with a "doubtful" tag. He'll now set his sights on a Week 13 return for a matchup against Miami, though even if he makes it back on the field, it will likely be in a depth role.

Thomas (hamstring) is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: After logging a limited practice Thursday, Thomas took a step back by sitting out of Friday's session, thus making him unlikely to play Sunday. Thomas (hamstring) participated in a limited fashion during Thursday's practice, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
Analysis: Thomas has been dealing with the injury for the past week and was held out of the team's Week 11 contest as a result. He was also a non-participant in Wednesday's practice, so this progress is a good sign for his potential availability in Week 12. Thomas (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game versus Washington, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
Analysis: Thomas will miss a game for the first time since the 2018 season. His role on offense has been consistent all year; he's played around 30 percent of the snaps each game, and his absence should open the door for both Auden Tate and Alex Erickson to handle larger roles Sunday, while Tyler Boyd, Tee Higgins and A.J. Zero targets in Week 8
Thomas played only six snaps and had zero targets in Sunday's win over the Titans.

Snags one pass in loss
Thomas caught one of three targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 31-27 loss to the Colts.
Analysis: Thomas continues to operate as the No. 4 receiver behind Tyler Boyd, A.J. Green and rookie Tee Higgins. He's now totaled 11 receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown. Barring an injury to one of the starters, though, Thomas' fantasy value is negligible.

Only one target
Thomas caught his lone target for five yards in Sunday's win over the Jaguars. He was on the field for 25 offensive snaps.

Targets recede in Week 3
Thomas had two catches for nine yards on two targets in the Week 3 tie against the Eagles. He was on the field for 16 offensive snaps.
Analysis: Thomas played less and was targeted less frequently than Tee Higgins and even Auden Tate. Finds end zone in loss
Thomas brought in all four of his targets for 31 yards and a touchdown in the Bengals' 35-30 loss to the Browns on Thursday.
Analysis: Thomas became the second Bengals pass-catcher to haul in a scoring throw from Joe Burrow in the contest, making his grab on a nifty slant pattern with 5:55 remaining to help bring Cincinnati within five points at the time. While Thomas figures to have an uphill battle for targets each week with the quartet of A.J. Green, Tyler Boyd, Tee Higgins and John Ross in front of him on the depth chart, the veteran has a respectable seven looks through two games and could potentially benefit on occasion…read more

Picks up 17 yards
Thomas caught two of three targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Chargers.
Analysis: Thomas logged 15 offensive snaps -- tied with Auden Tate and rookie second-round pick Tee Higgins -- and was just one of four wide receivers to garner a target in the season opener. This trend likely won't keep up as Higgins gets more comfortable in the NFL.

Joins Cincinnati receiving corps
The Bengals have signed Thomas, Dave Clark of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Analysis: The 2016 sixth-rounder logged just two catches for 14 yards in 16 games with the Rams last season, but he'll provide the Bengals with added wideout/special teams depth. Signing with Cincinnati reunites the 25-year-old with head coach Zac Taylor, who served as the Rams' assistant wide receivers coach in 2017, Thomas' second campaign with Los Angeles.

Totals two catches
Thomas had two receptions for 14 yards in 16 games this season.
Analysis: The 25-year-old was limited to playing special teams for most of the season, accruing only 34 offensive snaps all year. Thomas' rookie deal is now completed, and he had 10 catches for 144 yards with one lost fumble in 40 games over his four seasons with the Rams.

Back at practice Friday
Thomas (illness) practiced in full Friday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Analysis: Thomas was held out of Thursday's session after falling ill but looks to be set to play Week 17. Thomas is more of a special teams player than anything else, so do not expect him to make much offensive impact during Sunday's season finale.

Too ill to practice
Thomas missed Thursday's practice with an illness, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: There's been no news as to the nature or seriousness of the illness as of yet. Thomas has been primarily a special-teams player this season seeing just seven offensive snaps over the last five weeks.

Brings in pass in loss
Thomas caught his only target for a five-yard gain during Sunday's 44-21 loss to Dallas.
Analysis: Thomas' reception was just his second of the season and first since Week 11. The Rams generally keep with three-receiver sets, and with Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, Brandin Cooks and Josh Reynolds all vying for those snaps, there is seldom much of an opportunity for Thomas to contribute. Given his lack of opportunities and Sunday's matchup against San Francisco, the league's top pass defense, Thomas figures to be a poor fantasy play.

Sees work in three-receiver sets
Thomas played a season-high 20 offensive snaps Sunday in the Rams' 17-7 win over the Bears, finishing with one catch for nine yards on three targets.
Analysis: After playing almost exclusively on special teams while drawing just one target through the Rams' first 10 games, Thomas saw his profile on offense grow out of necessity with Los Angeles down two of its top three receivers in Brandin Cooks (concussion) and Robert Woods (personal). Coach Sean McVay expressed optimism that Cooks would be back for the Rams' Week 12 game against the Ravens, a development that would leave no room for Thomas in three-receiver sets.
