The Browns declined to tender Boddy-Calhoun a contract for 2019, making him an unrestricted free agent, freelance NFL writer Howard Balzer reports.

Analysis: Boddy-Calhoun played a sizable role for the Browns in 2018, finishing the 16-game slate with 56 tackles (44 solo) and one forced fumble. The 26-year-old was forced into a larger workload due to injuries in the Cleveland secondary and may not be promised as many snaps with his next organization.

Career-high 10 tackles Sunday

Boddy-Calhoun posted a career-high 10 tackles (all solo) during Sunday's 26-23 loss to Tampa Bay.

Analysis: Boddy-Calhoun took over the nickelback position for T.J. Carrie -- who moved to right cornerback -- on Sunday and made the most of his increased workload. He posted double-digit tackles for the first time of his career, and he nearly doubled his tackle total on the year. Expect Boddy-Calhoun to continue to see more opportunities as long as E.J. Gaines (concussion) is out.

Expected to see uptick in chances

Boddy-Calhoun will replace T.J. Carrie as the nickelback Sunday versus the Buccaneers, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.

Analysis: Boddy-Calhoun's work in coverage gives him extra opportunities to force turnovers, especially in this matchup. The Buccaneers average 38 passing attempts per game and have thrown nine interceptions through five contests. The third-year pro has been limited in his work thus far, but he has playmaking ability as he showed with three interceptions his rookie season.

Boddy-Calhoun (knee) will return to the field Week 17 against the Steelers.

The Packers have put more emphasis on the run game lately, but in the six games QB Brett Hundley has started, he's averaged 28.7 pass attempts, giving ample opportunities to cornerbacks to make plays. If Boddy-Calhoun can't go Sunday, expect Mike Jordan and Darius Hillary to see more defensive snaps.

Boddy-Calhoun (hamstring) practiced fully Friday and is on track to play against the Lions on Sunday.

Analysis: Boddy-Calhoun was limited in practice up until Friday when full participated for the first time since injuring his hamstring in Week 8. He and the rest of Cleveland's secondary will look to slow down Matthew Stafford and the Lions on Sunday.
