Let go by New York
The Giants released Mickens on Sunday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Mickens signed a reserve/future contract with the Giants in January after joining their practice squad in December. He managed to record four catches for 41 yards in three preseason games but it wasn't enough to crack into a crowded wide receiver room headlined by Isaiah Hodgins, Darius Slayton and Parris Campbell.

Removed from COVID-19 list
The Jaguars activated Mickens (undisclosed) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday.
Analysis: Mickens was sidelined for the Jaguars' Week 17 blowout loss to the Patriots after landing on the COVID-19 list. He has suited up for five games for Jacksonville since being claimed off Tampa Bay's practice squad, but he's mostly operated on special teams. He's expected to return to his usual return duties during Week 18.

Placed on COVID list
Mickens (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday.
Analysis: It's not clear at this time whether Mickens tested positive for COVID-19. He has suited up in five games for Jacksonville since being claimed off Tampa Bay's practice squad, totaling 10 yards on two catches while working as the return man on kickoffs and punts. If Mickens doesn't return in time to face the Patriots on Sunday, Tavon Austin will likely fill in as the return man on special teams.

Signs with Jags
Jacksonville has signed Mickens off Tampa Bay's practice squad, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Mickens suited up for the Bucs' first six games but never saw any snaps. He has since been on their practice squad. The 27-year-old will now return to the team with which he spent his first three seasons. The Jaguars will presumably use him as a depth receiver and special teams contributor.

Sticks with Tampa Bay
Mickens was signed to the Buccaneers' practice squad Tuesday.
Analysis: Mickens was released off Tampa Bay's active roster Monday but will stick around the organization on the practice squad. He appeared in five of the first six games of the year and didn't receive a target in 18 offensive snaps.

Time up in Tampa Bay
The Buccaneers released Mickens on Monday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Mickens appeared in five games with the Buccaneers this season, in which span he regularly contributed in the return game but wasn't targeted. The 27-year-old will look to resurface in the league as an option on special teams.

Limited to returns
Mickens did not log a target in three snaps from scrimmage and returned three punts for 21 yards in the Buccaneers' 28-22 win over the Eagles on Thursday night.
Analysis: Mickens was solid in his return duties, but even with Scotty Miller (toe) still on injured reserve, he did not have a role in the offense. The 27-year-old does not have a target this season across 18 snaps from scrimmage, but he's accrued 129 kickoff return yards and another 54 on punt runbacks.

Back to full speed
Mickens (abdomen) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
Analysis: Mickens was limited Wednesday after missing the team's Week 3 loss to the Rams due to an abdomen injury, but he has apparently been cleared moving forward. The 27-year-old wideout has yet to log an offensive snap, but he does serve as the team's primary kick and punt returner.

Limited participant Wednesday
Mickens (abdomen) logged a limited practice Wednesday.
Analysis: Mickens was unable to practice at all leading up to the Buccaneers' Week 3 matchup against the Rams, so his presence on the field in any capacity is a step forward. If he's able to suit up in Week 4 against New England, Mickens should return to his role as both the primary punt- and kick-returner for Tampa Bay.

Won't travel with team
Head coach Bruce Arians said Mickens (abdomen) will not travel with the team this weekend, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: As expected, Mickens won't be available for Week 3 after missing back-to-back practices. The 27-year-old return specialist has totaled 116 kick-return yards and 21 punt-return yards through the first two weeks of the season. Jaelon Darden is expected to make his NFL debut against the Rams on Sunday night with Mickens sidelined.

Another missed practice
Mickens (abdomen) did not practice Thursday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Mickens has missed back-to-back sessions due to an abdominal issue, so he only has one more opportunity to upgrade his reps before Sunday's contest in Los Angeles. Jaelon Darden, who was inactive Week 2, could be in line to operate as Tampa Bay's top return man if Mickens misses time.

Dealing with abdominal issue
Mickens didn't practice Wednesday due to an abdominal injury, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Mickens wasn't expected to practice Wednesday after picking up a hip injury during Sunday's win over the Falcons, but he ended up being listed on the injury report with an abdominal issue. The 27-year-old likely will need to practice in some capacity Thursday or Friday to have a chance of suiting up this weekend against the Rams.

Doesn't practice Wednesday
Coach Bruce Arians said that Mickens (hip) was held out of Wednesday's practice and is considered day-to-day, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Analysis: Mickens was ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's contest against the Falcons after picking up a hip injury. The 27-year-old has been Tampa Bay's primary return man so far this season. Giovani Bernard and Scotty Miller each returned kicks against Atlanta after Mickens left the contest, so expect them to share the return duties in Week 3 if he is unable to suit up.

Ruled out of Sunday's game
Mickens (hip) has been ruled out of Sunday's game against Atlanta, Carmen Vitali of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Questionable to return
Mickens picked up a hip injury in Sunday's game against the Falcons and has been deemed questionable to return, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Mickens has played exclusively on special teams as a kick and punt returner so far this season. He had one kick return for 19 yards before departing. Giovani Bernard and Scotty Miller already have each returned kicks in the contest and will likely continue to fill in while the 27-year-old is out.

Remains on active roster
Mickens was promoted from the Buccaneers' practice squad Friday, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Mickens was elevated from the practice squad ahead of Thursday's season opener against the Cowboys, and he played 21 snaps on special teams. The 27-year-old recorded three kick returns for 92 yards while returning two punts for 21 yards, and he should continue to serve mainly as a contributor on special teams.

Called up from practice squad
Mickens was elevated from Tampa Bay's practice squad ahead of Thursday's season opener against the Cowboys, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: If Mickens dresses for the game, he'll likely reprise last season's role as a special teams contributor with little to no role on offense. Mickens had just seven catches in 2020 but returned 16 punts and 14 kickoffs for the Buccaneers.

Tampa Bay cut Mickens on Tuesday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.

Struggles in second exhibition
Mickens secured his only target for minus-4 yards in the Buccaneers' 34-3 preseason loss to the Titans on Sunday.
Analysis: Mickens logged a solid 27 snaps from scrimmage Saturday, but the fact he did virtually nothing with them while fellow wideouts Cyril Grayson and Tyler Johnson combined for a 6-78 line certainly doesn't help his chances at a roster spot. Moreover, Mickens didn't get any reps as a returner, a role that he'd almost certainly need to shine in to help secure a roster spot. Plays dual role in preseason opener
Mickens secured one of three targets for 10 yards, returned one kickoff for 33 yards and ran back one punt for six yards in the Buccaneers' 19-14 preseason loss to the Bengals on Saturday night.
Analysis: Mickens is fighting for a roster spot on the back end of the receiver depth chart, and his work on special teams could once again be his surest path to making the team. The young veteran put in some solid work with his three touches Saturday night, outshining rookie Jaelon Darden on kickoff returns specifically. Mickens will look to continue making a strong case for himself in Saturday's second exhibition contest against the Titans.

Could be on roster bubble
Mickens could have an uphill battle to win a roster spot this summer, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The 27-year-old set a new career high with seven receptions last season, but the overwhelming amount of his contributions came on special teams, where he amassed 439 total return yards and logged 125 snaps overall. Mickens had some offseason off-field trouble in March in the form of a gun charge, and he then got some talented, younger competition for his return job when Tampa Bay drafted Jaelon Darden in the fourth round in the spring. Three kickoff returns in SB win
Mickens returned three kickoffs for 75 yards during the Buccaneers' 31-9 win over the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV on Sunday.
Analysis: Mickens filled his usual role on special teams during the championship win while not logging any targets. The four-year veteran established a new career high this season with seven receptions, which netted a modest 58 yards. However, Mickens was largely an afterthought on offense for most of the season, which wasn't surprising given the Buccaneers' wealth of talent at receiver. Busy day on returns in title win
Mickens returned five kickoffs for 121 yards and ran back two punts for 10 yards in the Buccaneers' 31-26 win over the Packers in Sunday's NFC Championship Game.
Analysis: Mickens once again toiled almost exclusively on special teams, logging just three snaps from scrimmage as the No. 5 receiver with Antonio Brown (knee) out of action. The speedy four-year pro averaged an impressive 24.2 yards per kickoff return Sunday, and given that special teams have played a prominent part in turning the tide of multiple Super Bowls, Mickens stands a chance of making an impact in the upcoming, potentially high-scoring title game versus the Chiefs.

Posts 42 total return yards in win
Mickens returned two kickoffs for 26 yards and ran back two punts for an additional 16 yards in the Buccaneers' 31-23 wild-card win over Washington on Saturday night.
Analysis: Mickens once again served as the Buccaneers' full-time returner in the win, but he remained nearly absent from the offense while logging just three snaps from scrimmage. Mickens' role is expected to remain the same in Sunday evening's divisional-round matchup against the Saints.

Serves as primary returner
Mickens returned two kickoffs for 51 yards and netted no gain on one punt return in the Buccaneers' 44-27 win over the Falcons on Sunday.
Analysis: Mickens was back on the active roster for the first time since Week 9, and he ultimately logged three offensive snaps alongside his 15 plays on special teams. The 26-year-old finished his fourth pro season with a career-high seven receptions for 58 yards and added 439 yards on returns, all across 10 games. Mickens projects to continue serving as the Buccaneers' return man in Saturday night's wild-card matchup against Washington with Kenjon Barner (groin) on injured reserve.

Returns to roster
Mickens was promoted back onto Tampa Bay's 53-man roster Wednesday, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Analysis: Mickens had been demoted to the practice squad after the Buccaneers switched to Kenjon Barner as their primary return man for kickoffs and punts, but Barner was placed on IR due to a groin injury, creating the opening Mickens needed to get promoted from the practice squad. The receiver's role on offense will likely remain nearly nonexistent, as was the case earlier in the season.

Returns from COVID-19 list
The Buccaneers activated Mickens from the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Mickens sat out the last two games while on the reserve list. The 26-year-old will return to action following the Buccaneers' Week 13 bye. He's been a useful return man this season, and it's unclear if the addition of Antonio Brown -- who returned punts in last week's loss to the Chiefs -- will impact Mickens' role on special teams.

Mickens said Sunday that he has not tested positive for COVID-19, per Greg Auman of The Athletic.

Lands on COVID list
The Buccaneers placed Mickens on the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Questionable for Sunday
Mickens (not injury related) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
Analysis: The 26-year-old was absent from Friday's practice for non-injury reasons, putting his status in doubt for Week 10. Even if available, Mickens is unlikely to play much of an offensive role with the rest of the receiving corps currently healthy.

Garners 47 total return yards
Mickens logged just one snap on offense without a target but returned two kickoffs for 46 yards and one punt for one yard in the Buccaneers' 38-3 loss to the Saints on Sunday night.
Analysis: Mickens was coming off a 5-36 line on eight targets in a Week 8 win over the Giants, but Antonio Brown's debut Sunday night unsurprisingly pushed the speedster back down into the lowest portion of the wideout depth chart. The four-year pro is likely to continue logging time nearly exclusively on special teams moving forward, unless multiple injuries were to strike the receiver corps.

Steps up in narrow win
Mickens brought in five of eight targets for 36 yards and returned three kickoffs for 79 yards in the Buccaneers' 25-23 win over the Giants on Monday night.
Analysis: Mickens surprisingly logged 44 snaps from scrimmage on the way to season bests in receptions, receiving yards and targets. The third-year receiver's boost in opportunity was the byproduct of Chris Godwin's (finger) absence, as well as the fact Antonio Brown (suspension) wasn't yet eligible to suit up. Despite having shared the team lead in receptions with Mike Evans and setting the pace in targets Monday night, Mickens will likely have a difficult time reprising that level of involvement moving…read more

Compiles 98 yards on returns
Mickens did not see any targets on his three scrimmage snaps but returned four kickoffs for 98 yards in the Buccaneers' 45-20 win over the Raiders on Sunday.
Analysis: Mickens has now seen action from scrimmage in five straight games, but four of those counts have been in the single digits and have resulted in just two receptions for 22 yards (Week 5). However, the fourth-year wideout continues to be a steady presence on returns, with Sunday's tally giving Mickens a career-best 164 kick-return yards on the campaign (23.4 yards per return).

Busy on punt returns
Mickens logged only three snaps from scrimmage without a target but returned four punts for 30 yards in the Buccaneers' 38-10 win over the Packers on Sunday.
Analysis: One game after recording his first two catches, Mickens was primarily limited to his usual returner role. The third-year wideout was expected to see his offensive role essentially disappear with the return of Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Justin Watson (chest) to action, which is exactly what came to fruition against the Packers.

Sees action from scrimmage
Mickens brought in both his targets for 22 yards, returned one kickoff for 25 yards and ran back two punts for 20 yards in the Buccaneers' 20-19 loss to the Bears on Thursday night.
Analysis: The fourth-year wideout/return man saw his first two targets of the season, as he enjoyed a bigger role than usual with Chris Godwin (concussion) and Justin Watson (chest) both sitting out the contest. Mickens also continued to do a solid job in the return game, and he projects to continue to run back both punts and kicks for the foreseeable future with Kenjon Barner (suspension) out for the next four games. Continues as primary returner
Mickens was not targeted during his 11 snaps on offense but returned one kickoff for 24 yards and three punts for 27 yards in the Buccaneers' 38-31 win over the Chargers on Sunday.
Analysis: The third-year wideout saw veteran running back Kenjon Barner vulture one kickoff return opportunity before exiting the game with a concussion, so it remains to be seen if coach Bruce Arians has designs on eventually transitioning Mickens to handling punt returns exclusively. Mickens returned one kickoff for 17 yards and ran back three punts for 21 yards in the Buccaneers' 28-10 win over the Broncos on Sunday.
Analysis: The fourth-year wideout was once again limited to return duties, even with Justin Watson (shoulder) missing the Week 4 contest. Mickens has yet to see a target come his way this season, and Sunday's return yardage was his first of the campaign. Minimal opportunity in Week 2
Mickens returned one punt for no gain in the Buccaneers' 31-17 win over the Panthers on Sunday. He did not log any snaps from scrimmage.
Analysis: Mickens produced the exact same stat line as a returner as he did in Week 1, and he once again went unused on offense, even with Chris Godwin (concussion) sidelined for Sunday's contest. Coach Bruce Arians opted to instead elevate second-year wideout Cyril Grayson to serve as the No. 4 receiver, preserving Mickens for his duties on special teams.

Quiet on special teams Week 1
Mickens returned one punt for no gain in the Buccaneers' 34-23 loss to the Saints on Sunday.
Analysis: The 26-year-old also served as the No. 5 receiver in the Week 1 loss, although his primary function on the active roster was to serve as the punt returner and coverage units. While Mickens ultimately failed to make the stat sheet under any capacity, it's likely he continues to enjoy active status, at least early in the season, while rookie fifth-round pick Tyler Johnson continues to get up to speed on the playbook.

Candidate for returner duties
Mickens could have an inside track to the Buccaneers' currently vacant returner jobs, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports. "We've got Mickens here," said special teams coordinator Keith Armstrong. "I like Mickens because he has some gameday experience. I think again, going into this season, the more vets on the field the better. But, I like what I'm seeing with Mickens right now."
Analysis: The 26-year-old wideout would undoubtedly have a difficult time cracking the active roster solely as a receiver, but his past experience returning both kickoffs and punts could certainly pave a path for surviving final cuts. Mickens compiled 169 kick-return yards and a touchdown while adding 346 yards on punt runbacks over the 2017 and 2018 seasons with the Jaguars, particularly standing out in the latter category with an outstanding average of 8.9 yards per return.
