Officially ready for Week 1
Awuzie (leg) will play in Sunday's game versus the Rams, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Analysis: Awuzie was expected to be available, but it's good news that it's official since Jourdan Lewis (ankle) has been ruled out. The 25-year-old cornerback may not be a starter Sunday with rookie Trevon Diggs on board, but Awuzie will likely still log a major workload after playing nearly every snap last season and recording 79 tackles, 14 pass breakups and an interception.

Awuzie (leg) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Analysis: Awuzie suffered a leg injury late August, but he's already resumed practicing without restrictions. The 2017 second-round pick is on track to suit up Sunday night against the Rams. Coach Mike McCarthy alluded to the possibility of Awuzie taking snaps at both cornerback and safety earlier this offseason.

Held out Sunday
Awuzie did not practice Sunday due to a leg injury, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: The severity of Awuzie's injury remains unclear, but there's not yet any reason to worry about his regular-season availability. With Jourdan Lewis (ankle) still not practicing and in a walking boot, however, the Cowboys will be forced to practice with a depleted cornerback group as long as Awuzie remains sidelined.

Could see snaps at safety
Head coach Mike McCarthy said after the draft that he was comfortable with the Cowboys' flexibility in the secondary, and Awuzie would seem to be the most likely player to split time between corner and safety, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Dallas added two cornerbacks, including second-round pick Trevon Diggs, in the draft but didn't pick up a safety, but the team's new coach doesn't think lack of depth at the latter position will be an issue. "We may have some players that can not only play corner but can also slide over and play some safety," McCarthy said afterward. Another solid season
Awuzie finished the 2019 campaign with 79 tackles (48 solo), one interception on 14 passes defended and a fumble recovery.
Analysis: The tackles and PDs were both career highs for the third-year corner, while his 87.2 QB rating allowed on 96 pass attempts sent his way was a slight improvement on his 2018 performance. Awuzie's efforts have made him a solid complement to Byron Jones in the Cowboys' secondary, but with Jones headed into free agency, Awuzie could find himself overmatched as the team's No. 1 cornerback in 2020 if Jones doesn't return or isn't replaced by another true shutdown CB.

Has thigh contusion
Awuzie suffered a thigh contusion in Thursday's loss to the Bills, Brianna Dix of D210 Sports reports.
Analysis: The team is optimistic Awuzie will be able to suit up Week 14 against the Bears. The 24-year-old has 60 tackles (36 solo), one interception and 10 pass breakups in 12 games this season.
