Racks up two sacks
McKinley tallied five total tackles and two sacks during Sunday's 40-20 win against the Panthers.
Analysis: The 24-year-old edge rusher accounted for 15 sacks across his first 33 career games, but through Week 9 of this year, he'd managed just a half-sack. McKinley has picked up his production substantially thus far in the latter half of 2019, logging three sacks, four QB hits and three tackles for loss over the past four weeks. He and the Falcons' pass rush face more of a challenge in Week 15, however, going up against a 49ers offensive line that's tied for the 11th-fewest sacks allowed in the…read more

All set for TNF
McKinley (shoulder) is not listed on the team's injury report ahead of Thursday's game versus the Saints.
Analysis: After practicing on a limited basis earlier this week, McKinley appears fully recovered from what had been a lingering shoulder injury. In 11 games this season, the defensive end has posted 22 tackles, including 1.5 sacks.

Limited on injury report
McKinley (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant on Monday's estimated practice report, D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: The third-year edge rusher endured a quiet afternoon Sunday against the Buccaneers, as McKinley played on 13 defensive snaps with zero recorded tackles. Atlanta's front seven was blanked in the sack department and McKinley's struggles in getting after the quarterback continued, as he has just 1.5 sacks in 12 appearances this season. He's seemingly saddled with a lingering shoulder injury as the Falcons defense prepares to take on a Saints offensive line that ranks top seven in the NFL with 21…read more

Officially active
McKinley (shoulder) is active for Atlanta's Week 12 matchup against the Buccaneers.
Analysis: McKinley suffered the injury in the team's Week 11 contest and did not log any practice time this week. Despite that, he'll be ready to go Week 12 and will be looking to record a sack for the second straight game.

Trending in right direction
McKinley (shoulder) is expected to play in Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The 2017 first-round pick suffered the shoulder injury during last week's game and didn't log any practice time this week. If he's healthy enough to suit up, McKinley will be looking to notch his second consecutive game with a sack. Official word on McKinley's availability will arrive around an hour and a half before kickoff when inactives are released.

Officially questionable
McKinley (shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: McKinley is nursing a shoulder injury sustained during the second quarter of Week 11's win over the Panthers, during which he managed to retake the field after halftime. He kicked off the week with back-to-back absences from practice, however, making it unclear whether he'll manage to play through the issue against the Buccaneers on Sunday. With Adrian Clayborn (groin) also nursing an injury, Allen Bailey could play an increased role on defense if McKinley were forced to miss any time.

Sits out another practice
McKinley (shoulder) was unable to participate during Thursday's practice session, Jason Butt of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The 24-year-old edge rusher had accumulated 13 sacks in 31 career regular-season contests coming into 2019, but through Week 10 of this year, he had just half a sack on 446 defensive snaps. Sunday against the Panthers, McKinley took down Kyle Allen on a third-down play to force a Carolina punt -- and subsequent Kenjon Barner return for touchdown -- but he was injured while recording the sack and had to be evaluated by trainers. McKinley was able to return after halftime Sunday, but a second…read more

Non-participant Wednesday
McKinley (shoulder) didn't practice Wednesday, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: McKinley exited this past Sunday's win over the Panthers to tend to a shoulder issue, but he returned after a short stint on the sidelines. The 2017 first-round pick still was held to a season-low 26 defensive snaps, and he's feeling the effects of the injury now. His status for Week 12's matchup against the Buccaneers is uncertain.

Ties career high in tackles
McKinley logged two tackles (one solo) and a sack in Sunday's win over the Panthers.
Analysis: McKinley briefly departed the game with a shoulder injury but was able to return. He ended up seeing about half his usual allotment of snaps as a result, playing just 26. The 23-year-old also tied his career-highs in tackles (22) and solo tackles (15) with the effort, but, with just 1.5 sacks on the year, is well off the pace of the previous two seasons, when he ended up with at least six sacks.

Back after halftime
McKinley (shoulder) returned to Sunday's game against the Panthers, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: McKinley was hurt in the second quarter, and the team's halftime evaluations deemed him healthy enough to return. The third-year pro will continue manning starter's reps, as he looks to pressure Kyle Allen and stymie Christian McCaffrey.

Departs with shoulder issue
McKinley was forced out of Sunday's game against the Panthers with a shoulder injury, William McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
Analysis: McKinley's an integral part of the Falcons' defensive front, as he consistently logs over a 70-percent snap share. This increased usage puts the third-year pro on track for a career high in tackles, as he already has 20 on the year. If McKinley doesn't return to this contest, expect Adrian Clayborn and Allen Bailey to both see an uptick in snaps.

Practices without limitations
McKinley (groin) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: McKinley suffered a groin injury during Sunday's loss to the Cardinals, but he already appears to have put the issue behind him. Barring any setbacks, McKinley is on track to draw his usual start against the Rams in Week 7.

Suffers groin injury
McKinley was forced out of Sunday's game against the Cardinals with a groin injury, William McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
Analysis: McKinley didn't return to this contest. His practice status will likely be monitored this week ahead of Week 7's game against the Rams. If he's unable to go, expect either Adrian Clayborn or Allen Bailey to start at defensive end.

Suiting up versus Titans
McKinley (knee) is not listed on Friday's injury report and will play Sunday against Tennessee, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: McKinley appears to have successfully shaken the knee injury he picked up last Sunday versus the Colts. The 2017 first-round pick has just a half-sack through three games thus far, so he'll look to pick up some momentum against the Titans. McKinley could have success in that regard, given that Marcus Mariota was sacked nine times by the Jaguars in Week 3.

Practices in limited fashion
McKinley (knee) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Kelsey Conway of the Falcons' official site reports.
Analysis: McKinley left this past Sunday's game versus the Colts early with a knee injury and didn't return. Being able to get onto the practice field in some capacity this early is a positive sign, but he'll need to keep progressing ahead of Sunday's game versus the Titans. The third-year pro has gotten off to a slow start with just 0.5 sacks through the first three contests, which he will need to turn around quickly to match last year's seven-sack total.

Exits with knee issue
McKinley (knee) is questionable to return to Sunday's game versus the Colts, Kelsey Conway of the Falcons' official site reports.
Analysis: McKinley logged a large workload through the first two games, making five solo tackles. He recorded 0.5 sacks before leaving this contest. If McKinley can't return, expect Adrian Clayborn to see increased duties at defensive end.

Comes up with turnover
McKinley recovered a Deadrin Senat-forced fumble and ran the ball back for a 17-yard return during Thursday's 19-7 preseason loss to Washington.
Analysis: McKinley is an undeniable X-factor for the Falcons defense, having shown promise as an edge rusher through his first two pro campaign but not yet having blossomed into a Pro-Bowl caliber player. In suiting up for 33 of Atlanta's 34 regular- and postseason contests between 2017 and 2018, McKinley registered 15 sacks, 27 QB hits, 16 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles. Last year he started off hot with 4.5 sacks through the first three games, but he registered 2.5 takedowns in his remaining…read more

Doing well after mental evaluation
McKinley is spending time with family in California after his friend summoned police Tuesday out of concern for the defensive end's mental well being, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: No charges were filed as a result of McKinley's visit with police Tuesday, and Falcons spokesman Brian Cearns noted Wednesday that McKinley has been in "constant communication" with the team and seems to be in a "good spot." Unless the Falcons suggest otherwise in the weeks to come, McKinley is expected to be in attendance for OTAs.

Undergoing mental evaluation
McKinley was detained by Los Angeles police on Tuesday after his friend grew concerned for his well-being and called 911, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. It was reported that McKinley cooperated and left with police without being booked for any sort of crime.
Analysis: McKinley's status remains unclear. Reports said he was spending time at a Los Angeles hotel when his friend became concerned and called local police. In a statement released Tuesday, head coach Dan Quinn reflected on the situation by saying, "Anytime a situation occurs that (could be) related to mental health issues we take it very seriously. We will do everything we possibly can to support and assist (McKinley) as our players' mental and physical well being are always our top priority."

Picks up sack in Sunday's finale
McKinley registered a sack Sunday during the Falcons' 34-32 win over the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Since entering the league in 2017, McKinley has flown under the radar as one of the NFL's lesser-known pocket disruptors, registering 13 sacks on 1,119 defensive snaps. That translates to one sack every 86.1 plays, an average that rivals rising young pass rushers Myles Garrett (74.6) and Yannick Ngaokoue (71.3). Heading into his third year, McKinley will continue to be a crucial component to a Falcons defense that struggled to get after the quarterback in 2018 with just 37 sacks as a unit.

Formidable defensive showing Sunday
McKinley collected three tackles and half a sack during Sunday's 24-10 win against the Panthers.
Analysis: McKinley was Taylor Heinicke's worst nightmare Sunday, picking up a season-high four QB hits in addition to his 0.5 sacks. After amassing six sacks as a rookie in 2017 despite playing only 38 percent of the defensive snaps, McKinley is tied with Jack Crawford for the team lead with 6.5 sacks this season. An emerging pass-rushing star in his sophomore campaign, McKinley looks to take advantage of a Buccaneers offensive line that has surrendered the fourth-most QB hits (105) when the Falcons…read more
