Heading to Cincy
The Bengals signed Basham on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Analysis: Basham is now set to join the Bengals in 2023 where he'll ultimately pursue his ninth year in the NFL. The 29-year-old linebacker made seven appearances this past season primarily as a rotational defensive piece for the Cowboys (two games) and Titans (five games), and he'll presumably compete for pass-rushing snaps with Cameron Sample, Jeff Gunter and Owen Carney.

Finds new home
Basham signed with the Titans on Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Basham was waived by the Cowboys on Tuesday after appearing in two games for the franchise this season. The veteran missed multiple weeks due to being on IR with a thigh injury, but he is now healthy and ready to compete. His addition should add pass-rush depth on the edges for Tennessee.

Done in Dallas
The Cowboys waived Basham on Tuesday, Nick Eatman of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The Cowboys had a plethora of pass-rushing defensive ends, but Basham was the one who got the short end of the stick Tuesday. The 28-year-old has spent most of the campaign thus far on injured reserve due to a thigh injury, but he'll now search elsewhere to continue his playing career.

Out for Thursday
Basham (illness) is inactive against the Giants on Thursday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Basham has spent most the season on IR due to a thigh injury, and he'll now miss another game due to an illness. Due to his limited time on the field this season, it's unlikely his absence will impact the teams depth on the defensive line much.

Activated from IR
Basham (thigh) was activated off injured reserve Wednesday, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Analysis: After returning to practice Oct. 20, Basham will be back on the field for Sunday's matchup with the Packers. The 28-year-old will be active for the first time since sustaining a thigh injury in the Cowboys' Week 1 loss to the Buccaneers. Basham will operate as an additional depth option behind the likes of DeMarcus Lawrence and Dorance Armstrong on the defensive line.

Designated to return from IR
Basham (thigh) was designated to return from injured reserve Thursday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
Analysis: Basham was placed on IR after suffering a thigh injury during the Cowboys' season opener versus Tampa Bay, causing him to miss each of the team's last five games. Now, the 28-year-old has been designated to return Thursday, opening up a 21-day window for him to practice and be restored to the active roster. Basham's first chance to play will come Sunday against the Lions.

Lands on IR
The Cowboys placed Basham (thigh) on injured reserve Saturday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Basham will be forced to miss at least four games after landing on injured reserve. In his absence, Chauncey Golston and 2022 second-rounder Sam Williams are candidates for increased roles behind DeMarcus Lawrence and Dorance Armstrong.

Hopes to return in 1-2 weeks
Basham (thigh) will "hopefully [be] back in 1-2 weeks" from his injury, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: There's still no concrete timetable for his return, but it seems that Basham is in real danger of missing Dallas' Week 2 matchup versus Cincinnati. Until he's back to full health, Chauncey Golston and 2022 second-rounder Sam Williams are candidates to step up in his absence.

Suffers thigh injury
Basham is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Buccaneers due to a thigh injury, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Basham sustained his injury in the fourth quarter and had to be helped off the field. If he's kept off the field for the final few minutes of Sunday's matchup, it's not yet clear whether he'll be able to return for Sunday's Week 2 tilt against Cincinnati.

Links up with Cowboys
Basham signed a two-year, $6.5 million contract with Dallas on Thursday, Manish Mehta of New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: Dallas fortifies its pass rush with Thursday's addition of Basham, as the franchise welcomes a player who quietly notched 13 QB hits and a career-high 3.5 sacks in 2020. The 27-year-old brings with him the experience of 11 starts and 32 appearances the past two seasons. While this transaction may not constitute a high-profile addition to the Cowboys' pass rush, it's a nudge in the right direction after Dallas tied for 22nd in sacks last year.

Disruptive force in Week 16 win
Basham finished with five tackles (two solo), a sack, three quarterback hits and two forced fumbles in Sunday's 23-16 win over the Browns.
Analysis: Basham consistently got into the Cleveland backfield and made quarterback Baker Mayfield cough the ball up twice. He now has a career-high three sacks and has tied last season's career-best total of 33 tackles with one game to play.

Kicks illness, ready for Week 7
Basham (illness) has been cleared for Sunday's game versus the Bills, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Analysis: Basham missed Thursday's practice due to an illness, but he's back on track after practicing fully Friday. The fourth-year linebacker out of Ohio hasn't shown much promise as an IDP contributor, as he's posted just 11 tackles and a sack through six games.

Can't practice Thursday
Basham (illness) was held out of the Jets' practice session Thursday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: It has been confirmed that the 26-year-old is dealing with a non-COVID-related illness, perhaps shortening the length of his inactive stint. Basham has been playing an integral role for the Jets this season, with an average of 38.2 defensive snaps per game over the first six weeks of 2020. During a 24-0 Week 6 loss to the Dolphins, Basham picked up his first sack of the season. If he can't make it back in time for a Week 7 matchup against Buffalo, Blake Cashman would be in line for additional…read more

All clear Sunday
Basham (hip) will play in Sunday's game against the 49ers.
Analysis: Basham logged limited practices throughout the week with the hip issue before ultimately being designated as questionable. Now healthy, the Ohio product will presumably take over his usual starting role at linebacker for Week 2.

Considered questionable
The Jets have ruled Basham (hip) as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the 49ers.
Analysis: Basham logged consecutive limited practices to close the week, so this status is not all that surprising. His availability will presumably depend on how his hip is feeling closer to kickoff. Jordan Willis would likely see an uptick in snaps should Basham ultimately sit out.

Ready for Week 1
Basham (ankle) was a full participant Friday and does not carry an injury designation ahead of the team's Week 1 matchup against the Bills, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Basham got in two limited practices earlier in the week prior to logging his first full practice Friday. His lack of an injury designation means he is set to take on a starting role at outside linebacker in the team's Week 1 matchup against the Bills. Basham managed 33 tackles, two sacks and an interception across 16 games in 2019.

Will miss a few weeks
Basham (ankle) will be sidelined a few weeks, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
Analysis: Basham suffered an ankle injury during Tuesday's practice, and the results of his MRI have now revealed a multiweek recovery timetable. If the 26-year-old is able to retake the field in time for Sept. 13's opener against Buffalo, he stands to handle a key role in New York's linebacker corps.

Scheduled for MRI
Basham is set to receive an MRI on the ankle he injured during Tuesday's practice, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The Jets' initial belief is that Basham is only nursing a sprained ankle, but the official results of his MRI may not be disclosed until later this week. Basham had a career-high 33 tackles with the Jets in 2019, and he could be in line to once again play a key role in the linebacker corps this season if healthy.

Posts 33 tackles in 2019
Basham finished the 2019 season with 33 tackles, two sacks and an interception.
Analysis: Basham played in all 16 games and spread his production around, recording no more than five tackles in any single contest. He's under contract for one more year as an inexpensive depth piece for the Jets.
