Tallies another sack in Week 12
Key posted two solo tackles, including 1.0 sacks and an additional QB hit, during the Titans' 30-24 loss to the Seahawks on Sunday.
Analysis: Key got to Sam Darnold for a seven-yard sack on a fourth-down play early in the fourth quarter, giving the Titans back the ball at midfield. Key missed four games earlier in the season due to a quadriceps injury but has been productive in the seven regular-season games he's played, having totaled 11 tackles (six solo), including 4.0 sacks. He'll look to add to his sack total during this Sunday's AFC South tilt against the Jaguars.

Dominant in return
Key tallied three tackles (two solo), including 1.5 sacks, during Tennessee's loss to the Texans on Sunday.
Analysis: Key had sat out the team's last four games with a quadriceps injury but had a strong outing in his return, as he recorded a team-high 1.5 sacks. The 29-year-old will look to build on this performance and continue producing in the Week 12 matchup versus Seattle.

Cleared to play Week 11
Key (quadriceps) is active for Sunday's game against Houston.
Analysis: Key has progressed enough in his recovery from a quadriceps injury to return from a four-game absence. His return, coupled with Jeffery Simmons (hamstring) also being cleared, will help bolster the Titans' pass rush in Sunday's AFC South tilt, though less rotational snaps at outside linebacker will be available for Jaylen Harrell and Truman Jones. Key posted six tackles (two solo), including 1.5 sacks, in the five regular-season games prior to his injury.

Chane to return Week 11
Key (quadriceps) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Texans, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Key missed the Titans' last four games due to a quadriceps injury he sustained against the Cardinals in Week 5. The Week 10 bye gave him additional time to progress in his recovery, and he was a limited participant in all three practices during Week 11 prep. If Key is cleared to play in Sunday's AFC South tilt, that would mean less defensive snaps at outside linebacker would be available for Truman Jones and Jaylen Harrell.

Key (quadriceps) was a limited participant in Tennessee's practice Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Key has been sidelined for the team's last four games but appears to be nearing his return. If the 29-year-old manages to practice either Thursday or Friday as well, he should be in line to make his return during Sunday's matchup versus the Texans.

Out for Week 9
Key (quadriceps) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Chargers, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Key was unable to practice both Wednesday and Thursday due to a quadriceps injury sustained in Tennessee's Week 5 win over the Cardinals, so it's no surprise that he'll remain sidelined Sunday. Expect Jihad Ward to continue operating as one of the Titans' top outside linebackers until Key returns from injury.

Misses Wednesday's practice
Key (quadriceps) won't practice Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: The 29-year-old has missed Tennessee's last three games due to a quadriceps injury sustained in the Week 5 win over the Cardinals, and Wednesday's DNP suggests he's not nearing a return. If Key is sidelined again in the Week 9 matchup against the Chargers, expect Jihad Ward to start opposite Dre'Mont Jones in the Titans' linebacker corps.

Could return Sunday
Key (quadriceps) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Colts, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Key downgraded from a limited practice session Thursday to a DNP on Friday, suggesting he's trending in the wrong direction ahead of Sunday's contest. The LSU product has appeared in four games for the Titans this season, recording six total tackles, including 1.5 sacks. If he's forced to miss his third consecutive game in Week 8, expect Jihad Ward to start opposite Dre'Mont Jones in Tennessee's outside-linebacker corps.

Returns to practice Thursday
Key (quadriceps) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Analysis: Thursday marked Key's first crack at on-field work since sustaining a quadriceps injury during the Titans' Week 5 win over the Cardinals. It's a step in the right direction for the 2018 third-rounder, though his chances of playing Sunday against the Colts won't be known until the Titans announce their injury designations following Friday's practice. Still working through quad injury
Key (quadriceps) didn't practice Wednesday.
Analysis: Key continues to work through a quad injury that he sustained in Week 5 against the Cardinals, which has prevented him from practicing or playing. Still no practice
Key (quadricep) did not practice Wednesday.

Out for Week 6
Key (quad) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Raiders, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Key logged consecutive DNPs to open the Titans' week of practice after sustaining a quad injury in the team's Week 5 win over the Cardinals, making it no surprise that he'll be sidelined Sunday. The veteran edge rusher has had a solid start to the 2025 season, recording six total tackles, including 1.5 sacks, through five contests. While he's out Week 6, expect rookie Oluwafemi Oladejo to start as one of Tennessee's top outside linebackers.

Key (thigh) is questionable to return to Tennessee's matchup versus the Cardinals on Sunday, Paul Kuharsky of PaulKuharsky.com reports.

Key (hand) has been participating in the Titans' OTAs this week, Denny Simmons of The Tennesseean reports.
Analysis: Key missed the Week 18 regular-season finale last season but is back to full health. The veteran edge rusher finished the 2024 season with 42 tackles (24 solo), including 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery across 17 regular-season appearances. Out for season finale
Key (hand) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Texans, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: With Key out, Jaylen Harrell and Ali Gaye should get some extra reps off the edge for the Titans in the Week 18 finale. It will be Key's first missed game of the season, and he'll close out the 2024 campaign with 42 tackles (24 solo), including 11 TFLs and a career-best 6.5 sacks, 15 QB hits, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery across 16 contests. Key (back) was listed as a full participant on Thursday's injury report, John Glennon of NashvillePost.com reports.
Analysis: Key was listed as a DNP on Wednesday's practice report due to a back injury, but it doesn't appear to be a lingering issue as he was listed as a full participant for Thursday's session. In the seven regular-season games since the Titans' Week 5 bye, Key has logged 20 tackles (15 solo), including 5.0 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

Key didn't practice Wednesday due to a back injury, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Key appears to have picked up this back injury in the Titans' Week 12 win over the Texans despite playing 83 percent of the team's defensive snaps and recording two total tackles. Analysis: Key and Kenneth Murray were the only two Titans to sack Sam Darnold on Sunday, with Key's taking place midway through the fourth quarter for an eight-yard loss. Key is 1.5 sacks shy from matching his career best with the 49ers in 2022. Through 10 regular-season games, Key has logged 26 tackles (20 solo), including 5.0 sacks, one pass defense, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Dealing with back injury
Key (back) did not practice Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Key finished this past Sunday's 27-17 loss to the Chargers with two solo tackles, but he appears to have picked up a back injury in the process. He'll have two more chances this week to practice and avoid an injury designation heading into Sunday's game against the Vikings. Forces critical turnover vs. Pats
Key logged two solo tackles, including 1.0 sacks, and one forced fumble during Sunday's 20-17 overtime win over New England.
Analysis: Key made a pivotal play during the Titans' win Sunday. He sacked Drake Maye for a seven-yard loss early in the fourth quarter, stripping the ball in the process that was picked up by Jeffery Simmons. That eventually led to a six-yard touchdown pass from Mason Rudolph to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine five plays later to give the Titans a one-touchdown lead. Logs two more sacks vs. Detroit
Key recorded six total tackles (three solo), including 2.0 sacks, in Sunday's 52-14 loss to the Lions.
Analysis: The 28-year-old was one of three Titans to get after the quarterback in Sunday's blowout loss, taking down Jared Goff twice in the first quarter. Key has begun to heat up after a slow start to his 2024 campaign, having now recorded 17 total tackles, including 3.0 sacks, defended one pass and forced one fumble through Tennessee's first seven games. He's expected to continue starting opposite Harold Landry as part of the Titans' top edge-rushing duo for the remainder of the season.

Gets first sack of season
Key recorded two tackles (two solo) including 1.0 sacks during Sunday's 34-10 loss at Buffalo.
Analysis: It took until Week 7, but Key was finally able to put a notch in the sack column in what was otherwise a dismal day for the Titans' defense. Because Tennessee is so often playing from behind, Key hasn't gotten as many opportunities to rush the passer up to this point in 2024 as in seasons past.

Key (hamstring) was left off Tennessee's injury report Wednesday ahead of Sunday's Week 1 game against the Bears, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Key tweaked his hamstring toward the end of August, and it appears he's already moved past the issue. The veteran linebacker had the best year of his career with the Titans in 2023, recording 101 total tackles, including 6.0 sacks, and defending two passes across 17 regular-season games. Tweaks hamstring
Key is dealing with a minor hamstring issue, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Per Wyatt, the team hopes that Key will be back in action next week. Key, who coach Brian Callahan said has solidified himself as a three-down linebacker with a solid showing in camp, reportedly recently won his appeal to overturn a six-game suspension under the NFL's policy against performance-enhancing substances, according to The Athletic. Facing six-game suspension
Key is facing a six-game suspension for violating the league's rules against performance-enhancing drugs, Paul Kuharsky of PaulKuharsky.com reports.
Analysis: It's not clear whether Key will appeal the suspension, but if it holds up, he won't be eligible to return until Week 8 against the Lions. The 2018 third-round pick out of LSU played in all 17 regular-season games for the Titans in 2023, finishing the year with 30 tackles (17 solo), including 6.0 sacks, two passes defended and two forced fumbles. Posts sack in Week 16 loss
Key recorded four tackles (three solo), including one sack, and forced a fumble in Sunday's loss to Seattle.
Analysis: Key brought down Geno Smith and forced a fumble on Seattle's first offensive series of the contest, though the Seahawks maintained possession. The sack gave Key a total of 3.5 over his past five contests -- prior to that span, he had gone six consecutive games without logging any sacks. The veteran linebacker is just a half-sack away from tying the career-high mark he set two years ago while with San Francisco.

Logs sack in win
Key recorded two total tackles (both solo), including one tackle for loss and one sack in Monday night's 28-27 win over the Titans.
Analysis: The sixth-year pro was one of three Titans to get to Tua Tagovailoa on Monday night, as he was sacked a total of five times. Key is on pace to have one of, if not the, best seasons of his career through 13 games, tallying 22 total tackles, including three tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks. Tennessee ranks just outside the top 10 in the NFL in sacks this season (37.0 total), and Key has been a large part of that success.

Productive in Tennessee debut
Key recorded four tackles (one solo), including 1.5 sacks, and one pass defended in Sunday's 16-15 loss to the Saints.
Analysis: Key has played on several one-year deals throughout his career, but the Titans gave him a more substantial commitment this offseason. He responded well in his debut with the team, showing ability as a pass rusher, run stopper and even in coverage. Key should continue to serve as the Titans' primary right outside linebacker this season, and he has a strong chance to set career-best marks in nearly every statistical category.

Heading to Tennessee
Key agreed to a three-year, $21 million contract with the Titans on Wednesday, Jordan Schultz of TheScore.com reports.
Analysis: Key has spent time with the Raiders, 49ers and most recently the Jaguars during his five-year NFL career. He recorded 24 tackles (13 solo), 4.5 sacks and two pass breakups across 17 games with Jacksonville in 2022. The Jaguars signed Key to a one-year, $7 million contract Wednesday.
Analysis: Key managed a career-best 6.5-sack campaign with the 49ers last season, and the Jaguars will now hope he can shore up a position of weakness. To date, Key has looked most comfortable in a rotational defensive role, which keeps him off the fantasy radar in most IDP fantasy formats.

Thriving in rotational role
Key tallied a sack across his 24 snaps on defense Sunday in the 49ers' 31-13 win over the Falcons.
Analysis: Nick Bosa (15 sacks) continues to lead the San Francisco pass rush, but the emergence of Key in recent weeks has resulted in the absence of Dee Ford (back) going largely unnoticed. Despite not playing any more than 50 percent of the 49ers' defensive snaps in any game this season while serving in a rotational role, Key has amassed five sacks, with all coming in the last seven weeks. Analysis: Key will likely fill a depth or rotational role along the 49ers' defensive line, while also providing the team with some upside if he can take a step forward in his development after entering the NFL with high expectations as a third-round pick in 2018. The Raiders placed Key (foot) on injured reserve Thursday.
Analysis: Key suffered a broken foot during Week 9's win over the Lions. He visited Dr. Robert Anderson to receive a second opinion on the injury, but it appears as though the second-year pro received no alternatives but to prematurely end his 2019 campaign. Analysis: Key, who broke his foot and is now facing a potential trip to the injured reserve, will receive a second opinion before accepting the fate of a shortened season. Key was not a starter along the Raiders' defensive line in 2019, but he recorded a sack in each of the last two contests and averaged just over 30 defensive snaps over his last four games.
