One catch in win
Powell caught his only target for nine yards in Sunday's 21-13 win over the Colts.
Analysis: Powell played 19 offensive snaps in the victory, reeling in his first reception since Week 3. The wide receiver is a clear No. 4 option behind Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and Jalen Nailor on Minnesota's depth chart.

Fallen down WR depth chart
Powell didn't have a reception or carry in Sunday's loss to Detroit. He played two snaps on offense and averaged 7.5 yards on two punt returns.
Analysis: Powell began the season as the No. 3 receiver but has fallen to No. 5 on the depth chart. He's mostly a punt returner at this point.

Ready for London game
Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell said Friday that Powell (chest) will not carry an injury designation for Sunday's matchup against the Jets, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Powell opened the week as a limited participant in practice due to a chest issue, but the No. 3 wide receiver is ready to rock for Sunday's international matchup against New York. He'll handle his usual role on offense behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison while also contributing in the return game.

Limited again
Powell (chest) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.
Analysis: Powell has logged back-to-back limited practice sessions due to a chest injury. He was briefly forced out of Minnesota's win over Green Bay in Week 4, but was able to return to the field. That bodes well for Powell's chances of gaining clearance to play Sunday against the Jets, as long as he's able to avoid any setbacks in Friday's practice.

Nursing chest injury
Powell (chest) was limited during Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Powell briefly exited Sunday's win over the Packers after taking a hard hit to the midsection while attempting to make a catch. He was able to return to the game, but he appears to be dealing with the lingering effects of that hit. His practice participation over the next two days should provide clarity on his status for Week 5 against the Jets.

Exits briefly with rib injury
Powell didn't have a reception on two targets in Sunday's win over Green Bay. He returned one punt for 10 yards. He missed the end of the first half with a rib injury but later returned, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Powell had to sit out for awhile after taking a hard hit to the ribs while trying to make a catch. Jalen Nailor muffed a punt return in place of Powell as the backup punt returner. Despite the injury, Powell still played 23 snaps on offense and ran 16 routes, which was ahead of Trent Sherfield (just three routes), though Sherfield had a reception. Both Powell and Sherfield will play minor roles on offense with the return of Jordan Addison from an ankle injury.

One reception in win
Powell had one reception for 13 yards on two targets in Sunday's win over Houston.
Analysis: Powell played on 27 of the offense's 63 snaps as he worked as the No. 3 receiver with Jordan Addison sidelined. The former could remain as the third wideout if Addison remains out with an ankle injury. However, Powell has just four targets in two games in that role.

Two receptions as No. 3 WR
Powell had two receptions for 16 yards on two targets in Sunday's win over the 49ers. He also had one punt return for 10 yards.
Analysis: Powell worked as the third receiver with Jalen Nailor starting opposite Justin Jefferson with Jordan Addison (ankle) sidelined. Powell could move into the starting lineup if both Addison and Justin Jefferson (quad) are sidelined Week 3 against Houston.

Held without a catch Week 1
Powell was not targeted during Minnesota's 28-6 win over the Giants in Week 1.
Analysis: Powell did return one punt for one yard, but that was the extent of his involvement on the stat sheet in a dominant showing by the Vikings. The Jets downed two punts and sent another three out of bounds, so Powell's involvement as Minnesota's primary punt returner could grow Week 2 against the 49ers on Sunday. He'll also figure to step into a larger offensive role behind Justin Jefferson should Jordan Addison (ankle) be limited at all due to injury.

Two receptions in preseason win
Powell had two receptions for 19 yards on two targets in Saturday's preseason win over Cleveland.
Analysis: It's hard to take too much away from a preseason game where the Vikings rested almost all their starters, but Jalen Nailor again outshined Powell in the competition for the third receiver role. Nailor had one reception for 31 yards on two targets after an impressive first preseason game where Powell did little. It looks like Nailor has a big lead for the third receiver role as a result. Falls to co-starter at No. 3 WR
Jalen Nailor and Powell are both listed as the No. 3 receiver for the Vikings on the team's first unofficial depth chart of the preseason.
Analysis: Powell was seen as the leader for the No. 3 role heading into training camp, but Nailor has drawn raves this summer and is seen by most observers as leading the competition. Whoever wins the role could have significant fantasy value early in the season with the Vikings possibly utilizing third-receiver sets more often, as tight end T.J. Hockenson is likely to miss several games as he recovers from January surgery on a torn ACL.

Leading No. 3 WR candidate
Powell, Jalen Nailor and Trent Sherfield are the leading candidates for the No. 3 receiver role after the Vikings did not take a wide receiver in the 2024 Draft, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: It was a mild surprise the Vikings didn't draft a wide receiver after the departure of K.J. Osborn (New England) in free agency, leaving Powell as the leading candidate for the No. 3 receiver role. The Vikings could add a veteran free agent later this spring to compete for the job. Whoever wins the role could get a significant number of targets early in the season with tight end T.J. Hockenson likely to miss several games in coming back from January surgery for a torn ACL.

Staying in Minnesota
Powell agreed to terms Tuesday to re-sign with the Vikings on a one-year contract, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Powell has more punt returns (86) than catches (76) in 61 career games, but he did a nice job filling in on offense last year when Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison or K.J. Osborn weren't available. Osborn now appears headed for free agency, potentially giving Powell a better shot at the No. 3 receiver role, albeit in a Minnesota offense that won't have QB Kirk Cousins.

Catches 29 passes in 2023
Powell appeared in all 17 games during the 2023 season, catching 29 of 44 targets for 324 yards and one touchdown while adding five carries for 17 scoreless yards.
Analysis: Powell also served as Minnesota's top punt returner, returning a league-high 37 punts for 289 yards and no touchdowns. It was Powell's first year with the Vikings after spending the previous two seasons with the Rams, where he crossed paths with Minnesota coach Kevin O'Connell. Back to limted role on offense

Increased role with Addison hurt
Powell had three receptions for 53 yards on four targets in Sunday's loss to Detroit. He had one punt return for five yards.
Analysis: Powell saw increased usage as he played on 27 of the offense's 54 snaps with Jordan Addison leaving with a sprained ankle. Powell could work as the No. 3 receiver next week against the Packers behind Justin Jefferson and K.J. Osborn if Addison is sidelined.

Limited role on offense
Powell didn't have a catch or target in Sunday's loss at Cincinnati. He also returned four punts at an average of 5.5 yards.
Analysis: Powell had just two snaps on offense - both were quarterback sneaks where he helped (unsuccessfully) push the quarterback. Powell was getting significant playing time at receiver with Justin Jefferson injured, but he'll likely remain limited almost exclusively to special teams with Jefferson back.

No receptions in win
Powell didn't have a catch on his only target and returned five punts for a 9.6-yard average in Sunday's win at Las Vegas.
Analysis: Powell played on 36 of the offense's 72 snaps as he moved back into the third-receiver role once Justin Jefferson left with a chest injury. However, it was Jalen Nailor who had two receptions as the fourth receiver in fewer snaps (17). Both Nailor and Powell could have a larger role if Jefferson remains sidlined.

Three receptions in loss
Powell had three receptions for 45 yards on three targets and one carry for two yards in Monday's 12-10 loss to Chicago.
Analysis: Powell was tied for third on the team in targets as he's built a rapport with quarterback Joshua Dobbs. However, Powell's role in the offense is set to shrink considerably in Week 14 following the team's bye with Justin Jefferson expected back from injured reserve. Powell will likely become the No. 4 receiver at that point behind Jefferson, Jordan Addison and K.J. Osborn.

Three receptions in loss
Powell had three receptions for 32 yards on four targets in Sunday's loss at Denver.
Analysis: With the return of K.J. Osborn from a concussion, Powell moved into the third receiver role and played on 44 of the offense's 75 snaps (compared to Osborn's 71 snaps). However, Powell was targeted more than Osborn (one catch for seven yards on two targets) as he appears to have a strong rapport with quarterback Joshua Dobbs. Powell's role should shrink to the fourth receiver role soon with Justin Jefferson close to returning from a hamstring injury.

Earns five targets
Powell recorded four catches on five targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 27-19 win over the Saints.
Analysis: Powell was pushed up the depth chart with both Justin Jefferson (hamstring) and K.J. Osborn (concussion) sidelined. He finished third on the team in targets, though T.J. Hockenson and Jordan Addison combined to hog 22 opportunities on Joshua Dobbs' 34 pass attempts. Powell's modest role is likely to disappear Week 11 against Denver with the potential for both Jefferson and Osborn to retake the field.

Role should increase
Powell looks set for a larger workload with K.J. Osborn (concussion) inactive and Justin Jefferson not activated from IR, Will Ragatz of Sports Illustrated reports.
Analysis: Powell played a season-high 51 snaps last week after Osborn was injured. He should start opposite Jordan Addison and could see more than the three targets he had last week. Trishton Jackson could also see an increased workload.

Catches game-winning score
Powell recorded two catches on three targets for 15 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-28 win over the Falcons.
Analysis: Powell made little impact on the game until 22 seconds remained, when he found the end zone from six yards away to score what proved to be the game-winning touchdown. Making the moment even more impressive was that he was battling through cramps at the time, according to Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Despite the clutch score, Powell's overall involvement in the offense remains limited, as he's failed to top 45 yards in four of five games with Justin Jefferson (hamstring)…read more

Powell (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Atlanta.

Powell (shoulder) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Analysis: It's the second straight day Powell has logged a limited practice session after he sustained a shoulder injury in Sunday's 24-10 win over the Packers. His participation in Friday's practice will be a better indicator as to whether he'll be able to suit up for Week 9 against the Falcons.

Powell was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice due to a shoulder injury.
Analysis: Powell sustained the injury in Sunday's 24-10 win over the Packers but was able to return to the game. He turned two touches (one reception, one carry) into 12 yards and returned three punts for 34 yards. With Justin Jefferson (hamstring) still on injured reserve, Powell offers pass-catching depth behind Jordan Addison, K.J. Osborn (chest) and T.J. Hockenson.

Two touches in Sunday's win
Powell had one reception for 10 yards on three targets and had one carry for two yards in Sunday's win at Green Bay. He also had three punt returns for an average of 11.3 yards.
Analysis: Powell left briefly due to an injury but was able to return. He played on 37 of the offense's 72 snaps as he continues to work as the third receiver with Justin Jefferson (hamstring) on injured reserve. Three receptions in expanded role
Powell had three receptions for 20 yards on four targets and lost a yard on a carry in Sunday's 19-13 win at Chicago. He also returned three punts for an average of 10.7 yards.
Analysis: Powell played on a season-high 32 snaps on offense (58 percent of the offense's snaps) as he moved into a third-receiver role with Justin Jefferson on injured reserve. He failed to connect on a key third-down pass from Kirk Cousins that would have been a difficult catch but showed he has Cousins' trust.

Role grows in Sunday's loss
Powell caught four of six targets for 43 yards in Sunday's 27-20 loss to Kansas City. He also gained nine rushing yards on his only carry.
Analysis: Most of Powell's action came in the fourth quarter after Justin Jefferson (hamstring) left the game and Kirk Cousins was trying to mount a late comeback. The journeyman wideout had played only six offensive snaps and made only one catch on the season coming into Sunday, but if Jefferson ends up sitting out a Week 6 contest against the Bears, Powell could again step up as the Vikings' No. 3 receiver behind Jordan Addison and K.J. Osborn.

Gets first reception of season
Powell had one reception for five yards on his lone target in Sunday's loss to the Chargers.

Powell had four punt returns for 18 yards in Sunday's loss to Tampa Bay. He didn't play any snaps on offense.

Likely secured roster spot
Powell did not suit up for the Vikings' preseason finale versus the Cardinals on Saturday, as he appears to have already locked up a spot on the team's final 53-man roster, Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Powell has been competing for one of Minnesota's final wide receiver spots after signing a one-year deal with the team in March. According to Alec Lewis of The Athletic, the 5-foot-8 slot receiver has performed very well during training camp, so it's likely that the Vikings saw no reason to play him if he's already in line for a roster spot. Agrees to deal with Minnesota

He also complied 605 kick-return yards and 177 punt-return yards. With Adam Thielen off to Carolina, the No. 3 wideout spot behind Justin Jefferson and K.J. Osborn appears to be open for competition. Two touches in season finale
Powell secured one of three targets for two yards and rushed once for 15 yards during Sunday's 19-16 overtime loss to the Seahawks. He also returned three punts for 22 yards and one kickoff for 17 yards.
Analysis: Powell's usage fell in line with what became typical for the return specialist in the second half of the season. Despite an uptick in playing time, Powell managed a pedestrian 23-156-0 receiving line in 2022 while tacking on an additional 17 rushing attempts for 80 yards, all career highs. Does little with extended play time
Powell rushed once for six yards and caught one of two targets for three yards during Sunday's 31-10 loss to the Chargers.
Analysis: Powell was on the field for three-quarters of the Rams' snaps on offense, yet his stat line was more or less typical for him on the season. He also failed to record a single kick or punt return for the first time all season, and despite the uptick in usage in the last two games, the return specialist's stock is trending downward heading into the season finale against the Seahawks.

Powell caught all three of his targets for 12 yards and rushed twice for three yards during Sunday's 51-14 win versus the Broncos. He also returned one punt for 12 yards.

Barely utilized in loss
Powell caught one of two targets for four yards and rushed once for three yards during Monday's 24-12 loss to the Packers. He also returned one punt for eight yards and five kickoffs for 99 yards.
Analysis: Powell's role in the offense has been sliding downward in recent weeks, even with Cooper Kupp (foot) and Allen Robinson (ankle) done for the year. With just seven snaps on offense against Green Bay, Powell recorded his lowest snap count since Week 10 against Arizona. On a positive note, Powell's 107 total return yards marked a season-high for the speedster, and he also managed two touches on his limited snaps after being shut out entirely during Week 14 against the Raiders.

Fails to record a catch
Powell (illness) failed to secure either of his two targets during Thursday's 17-16 win over the Raiders. He also returned four kicks for 73 yards.
Analysis: Powell was listed as questionable leading up to Thursday's contest due to an illness, which may explain why his snap count on offense dropped from 26 to 14 between Weesk 13 and 14. Active for TNF
Powell (illness) will be available to play Thursday versus the Raiders.
Analysis: Powell popped up with an illness Wednesday and was deemed questionable to play Week 14. However, it appears he overcame this ailment in time for Thursday Night Football. Late addition to injury report
Powell didn't practice Wednesday due to an illness and is listed as questionable for Thursday's matchup against Las Vegas, Anthony Galaviz of The Fresno Bee reports.
Analysis: Along with Powell, fellow wideout Lance McCutcheon (shoulder) is also listed as questionable, so the Rams' passing attack could be further depleted against Las Vegas if neither gains clearance ahead of the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff. Powell has played north of 40 percent of the Rams' offensive snaps in both of the past two weeks, carrying three times for 45 yards and adding six receptions for 45 yards on six targets.

Productive against Seattle
Powell caught all four of his targets for 39 yards and gained 45 rushing yards on three carries in Sunday's 27-23 loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: The 27-year-old led the Rams in scrimmage yards in his most productive performance since he was a rookie, when he popped for 103 receiving yards in Week 17 of the 2018 season as a Lion. Powell's versatility is becoming useful for an offense that's missing its top two wideouts in Cooper Kupp (ankle) and Allen Robinson (foot), but no Rams receiver will be an appealing fantasy option in Week 14, even against the Raiders.

Two catches in loss
Powell secured both of his targets for six yards in Sunday's 26-10 loss to the Chiefs. He also returned three kicks for 78 yards.
Analysis: Even with Allen Robinson (foot) and Cooper Kupp (ankle) unavailable, Powell's role didn't expand much beyond his usual few touches on offense. Tutu Atwell and Lance McCutcheon (shoulder) both were on the field for nearly the same amount of time as Powell, and the trio will all get some work as the third wideout behind starters Van Jefferson and Ben Skowronek with Robinson out for the season and Kupp unlikely to return with the Rams fading fast from playoff contention.

Uptick in playing time
Powell rushed once for minus-1 yard and caught both of his targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Saints. He also returned two punts for nine yards and one kickoff for 34 yards.
Analysis: Powell's lengthy kickoff return was critical in setting up Tutu Atwell's first career touchdown, a 62-yard bomb that kicked off scoring on the day for the Rams. More encouraging for Powell was the 20 snaps he saw on offense, his second most in a game so far this season. The Rams' primary return man may continue to enjoy a more expanded role on offense while Cooper Kupp (ankle) misses time.

Sparse usage in defeat
Powell rushed once for seven yards and failed to secure his only target in Sunday's 27-17 loss to the Cardinals. He also returned three punts for 30 yards and two kickoffs for 32 yards.
Analysis: Powell's usage was nearly a carbon copy of last week's game against the Buccaneers, with a single target and five offensive snaps. Powell also opened the contest with a seven-yard rush on the fourth play of the game but would fail to accrue another yard outside of his punt- and kick-return duties from there. Powell caught his lone target for four yards, returned two punts for 12 yards and ran back three kickoffs for 63 yards in Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Powell was a busy man on special teams, recording a season high in return yardage despite a muffed punt (that he recovered) in the first quarter. On the offensive side, Powell's usage remains extremely limited, as he only took the field for five snaps. The slightly expanded role the speedster enjoyed in Weeks 5 and 6 with a combined 35 snaps is seemingly over, and Powell's has reverted to being used primarily as a punt and kick returner heading into a Week 10 contest against the Cardinals.

Listed as active Sunday
Powell (ankle) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the 49ers, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: In the Rams' 24-10 win over the Panthers in Week 6, Powell hauled in four of his five targets for 27 yards and rushed three times for 13 yards, but with Van Jefferson off IR and back in the team's wideout mix Sunday, Powell's volume could take a hit in Week 8, thus making him a hit-or-miss fantasy option.

Expected to play in Week 8
Powell (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the 49ers but expected to play, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports.
Analysis: Powell saw more involvement on offense with Cam Akers (personal) sidelined in the Rams' previous game, notching three carries in addition to five targets. The wide receiver should continue to operate as the return man on special teams in addition to possibly seeing a few rushing opportunities with Akers having been ruled out once again.

Pops up on injury report Thursday
Powell (ankle) was listed as a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Gilbert Manzano of The Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Powell popped up on Thursday's injury report with an apparent ankle injury, leaving his availability for Sunday's contest against the 49ers in question. If the 27-year-old is unable to gain medical clearance before the weekend, then Tutu Atwell could see more reps at WR behind Cooper Kupp, Allen Robinson and Ben Skowronek, while Kupp would also likely handle punt returns for the time being.

Season-high four catches in win
Powell caught four of five targets for 27 yards and rushed three times for 13 yards in Sunday's 24-10 win against the Panthers. He also returned one punt for 15 yards.
Analysis: Powell nearly doubled his season total in snaps in Sunday's victory, taking the field for 25 offensive snaps and turning that into a total of seven touches for 40 yards. In the fourth quarter, Powell had a clutch 16-yard catch to set up a Darrell Henderson rushing touchdown to ice the game for the Rams. The expanded usage for the speedy return man may be short lived, as the Rams go on bye in Week 7, and Van Jefferson (knee) is eligible to return in Week 8.

Returns three punts
Powell rushed once for one yard and returned three punts for 19 yards during Sunday's 22-10 loss to the Cowboys.
Analysis: For the second straight week, Powell found himself without a target in the passing game, despite seeing the field for a season-high 11 offensive snaps. It also was a season low in return yards for the speedy return man, and Powell's lone touch on offense was stuffed after just one yard. Despite the lack of stats, the increase in playing time could yield fruit in a Week 6 tilt with a struggling Panthers squad.

Held without a catch
Powell rushed once for 11 yards and returned three kicks for 58 yards during Monday's 24-9 loss to the 49ers.
Analysis: It was the first game of the season in which Powell wasn't targeted in the passing game, a slight surprise as Tutu Atwell was inactive for the game, leaving Powell as the team's field-stretching speedster. Powell still managed to record a single touch out of his six offensive snaps with an 11-yard scamper in the second quarter, and he'll look to bounce back in a Week 5 tilt against the Cowboys.

Three catches in win
Powell caught all three of his targets for 27 yards during Sunday's 20-12 victory against the Cardinals. He also returned four kickoffs for 74 yards.
Analysis: Despite another week of scant usage on offense with just six offensive snaps, Powell made the most out of his time on the turf, connecting with Matthew Stafford on three targets. He also busted out a nifty 31-yard kick return and remains the primary return man for the Rams heading into a Week 4 matchup with San Francisco.

Takes intentional safety
Powell caught his only target for six yards in Sunday's 31-27 win against the Falcons. He also returned two kicks for 14 yards and rushed once for minus-26 yards.
Analysis: The glaring negative rushing yardage came late in the game, as the Rams elected to take an intentional safety on fourth down with just 13 seconds remaining, rather than punt, and trusted Powell as the man to handle the job. Other than the safety, Powell was only on the field for five other offensive snaps and seems relegated to kick-return duty with Van Jefferson (knee) likely to return soon.

Does a little of everything
Powell caught his only target for 10 yards in the Rams' 31-10 loss to the Bills on Thursday night. He also rushed once for three yards and returned four kicks for 67 yards.
Analysis: Powell saw only three snaps on offense, but he made the most of his limited time on the field by getting two touches in those three snaps, which was more production than Allen Robinson saw in 65 snaps. Powell also operated in his usual role as the Rams' primary kick returner, topping out with a 21-yard return in the fourth quarter. With Van Jefferson (knee) potentially out for Week 2's game against the Falcons, Powell will look to continue attempting to carve out a role beyond his return duties.

Moves past knee injury
Powell (knee) was a full participant in Monday's practice session, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
Analysis: Powell sustained a knee injury during practice in early August and was kept off the field throughout the preseason. However, the 26-year-old appears to be fully healthy ahead of Thursday's regular-season opener against the Bills, and he should have a chance to carve out a role as a returner to begin the 2022 campaign.

Injures knee, awaiting results
Rams head coach Sean McVay said Wednesday that Powell banged his knee during practice and the team is awaiting results, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Rodrique inferred that McVay didn't appear overly concerned about Powell's injury, so at the moment, it appears like a minor issue. McVay also mentioned that Powell wouldn't have played in the preseason opener anyways, suggesting that the return-specialist is likely a lock for the initial 53-man roster. Could get receiving work
Coach Sean McVay mentioned on Monday that Powell has shown he's "capable of being not only a really good returner but a capable receiver," per Cameron DaSilva of USA Today.
Analysis: Powell's usage in 2021 was almost exclusively as a return specialist, with just three offensive snaps to his credit all season, but he did manage to produce 341 return yards and a touchdown in just six regular-season games. Powell does have receiving experience, with 23 receptions for 198 yards and two TDs in his previous two years in the league, and with Van Jefferson potentially missing time with a knee injury, the opportunity is there for Powell to step in and produce in the slot.

Powell (ribs) doesn't carry an injury designation heading into Sunday's divisional-round matchup against Tampa Bay, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Powell was limited during the first two practices of the week but was able to fully participate Friday. He's expected to operate as the Rams' primary return man Sunday. In six games with Los Angeles, he's totaled 208 kick-return yards and 133 punt-return yards, including a 61-yard punt return for a touchdown against the Vikings in Week 16.

Analysis: Powell never seemed especially likely to go Week 17, as the return man was unable to submit even a limited practice session heading into Sunday's finale. He'll close out the year with 8.9 yards per punt return, good for eighth-best in the NFL. Active for Week 16
Powell (foot) is active for Sunday's game versus the Chiefs, Will McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
Analysis: With Julio Jones (hamstring) out of the lineup, Powell should handle a decent workload Sunday. Tears off long return
Powell corralled his only target for a nine-yard gain, adding one kick-return attempt for 22 yards and three punt returns for 40 yards during Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Chargers.
Analysis: Powell's 20-yard punt return at the 9:07 mark of the fourth quarter situated Atlanta near midfield with a chance to take the lead, however, Matt Ryan committed the first of a pair of late-game interceptions 11 plays later. The Florida product will likely continue to carry a peripheral offensive role for weeks when the receiving corps is depleted by injury. Most of his value, however, resides on special teams where he's averaging a respectable 9.3 yards per attempt on punt returns this season.

Snags second TD of 2020
Powell reeled in both of his targets for four receiving yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 43-6 win against the Raiders. He also logged a 16-yard kickoff return and a four-yard punt return.
Analysis: Opportunities opened up for Atlanta's secondary wide receivers Week 12, as Julio Jones (hamstring) was ruled out before kickoff and Olamide Zaccheaus (toe) had to exit partway through the contest due to injury. Powell capitalized, collecting his second TD reception over his past three appearances. He's made an impact on special teams as well, with the 25-year-old's 8.7 yards per punt return average ranking 12th in the NFL among players with at least 10 attempts.

Could stick as return specialist
Coach Dan Quinn said Powell is the current favorite to operate as Atlanta's return specialist in 2020, Jason Butt of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Powell played six games for the Lions in 2018 but wasn't able to make their 53-man roster last summer. He then caught on with the Falcons, spending time on the practice squad and active roster without ever playing in a game. Powell won't be assured of anything in 2020, facing competition for both return work and a depth spot at wide receiver.
