Sticking with Falcons
The Falcons signed Brooks-James to a reserve/future contract Monday, Will McFadden of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Brooks-James suited up in one game for the Falcons in 2020, recording four yards on three carries. There's plenty of uncertainty regarding the Falcons' backfield heading into the 2021 season, but Brooks-James likely isn't in the mix. He'll aim to secure a special-teams role.

Moves back down to practice squad
Brooks-James reverted to the Falcons' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Analysis: The Oregon product fielded three rushes over six offensive snaps during Sunday's 43-6 blowout of Las Vegas, generating only four yards in his Falcons debut. Starter Todd Gurley (knee) was ruled out against the Raiders after being unable to practice all week, providing Brooks-James with his first game appearance since he suited up for Pittsburgh during November of last year.

Elevates from practice squad
The Falcons elevated Brooks-James to the active roster Saturday.
Analysis: Brooks-James signed with the Falcons' practice squad Monday and will immediately make his debut for the team with Todd Gurley (knee) sidelined. The 25-year-old is nothing more than backfield depth behind Brian Hill, Ito Smith and Qadree Ollison. Through three games for the Steelers in 2019, Brooks-James has produced seven yards on eight carries.

Heading to Atlanta
Brooks-James signed to the Falcons' practice squad Monday, William McFadden of the Falcons' official site reports.
Analysis: The 25-year-old spent training camp with the Vikings but failed to make the season-opening roster. Brooks-James appeared in three games for the Steelers last season and had eight carries for seven yards while returning two kickoffs for 32 yards.

Cut by Minnesota
Brooks-James was waived by the Vikings on Wednesday.
Analysis: Brooks-James was cut and re-signed by the team last month already, but finally met his fate Wednesday. The Oregon product spent time with Pittsburgh last season, taking eight carries for seven yards and a pair of kick returns for 32 yards. He'll look elsewhere around the league to earn a depth role for 2020.

Rejoins Vikings
Brooks-James signed a contract with the Vikings on Saturday, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: That didn't take long. One week after being waived by the Vikings, the team re-signed the undrafted running back. It'll be interesting to see if he's near the bottom of the barrel in terms of roster status in future weeks, but at least for now, the speedy back will attempt to contend for a spot on the final 53-man roster.

Cut by Vikings
The Vikings waived Brooks-James on Saturday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Brooks-James went undrafted in 2019 and has spent time with the Falcons, Steelers and Vikings in the interim. He actually got some playing time with Pittsburgh last year when injuries hammered the backfield, taking eight carries for seven yards and a pair of kick returns for 32 yards. Brooks-James will look to get another chance with a different organization.

Signs reserve/future contract
Brooks-James signed a reserve/future contract with the Vikings on Sunday.
Analysis: This move should keep Brooks-James on Minnesota's practice squad, and he'll look to crack the 53-man roster in camp next season.

Joins Vikings' practice squad
Minnesota signed Brooks-James to its practice squad Wednesday.
Analysis: The 25-year-old running back was recently let go by the Steelers. In three appearances with Pittsburgh this season, Brooks-James rushed eight times for seven yards, not exactly a threatening stat line to the likes of Dalvin Cook.

Waived by Pittsburgh

Held in check
Brooks-James ran for 11 yards on six carries in Sunday's 17-12 win over the Rams.
Analysis: With James Conner (shoulder) and Benny Snell (knee) both out of commission again, Brooks-James recorded the first positive yardage of his career. After rushing once for no yards in Week 9 and losing two yards on his first carry against the Rams, Brooks-James finally gained positive yardage on his next two carries, both on Pittsburgh's only offensive possession to result in a touchdown. If Conner or Snell returns in Week 11 against Cleveland, Brooks-James likely heads back to the practice squad.

Gets first NFL carry
Brooks-James ran once for no gain in Sunday's 26-24 win over the Colts.
Analysis: Lacking running back depth due to injuries to both James Conner (shoulder) and Benny Snell Jr. (knee), Pittsburgh promoted Brooks-James from the practice squad earlier in the week. Fortunately, Trey Edmunds (17 carries for 73 yards) and Jaylen Samuels (13 catches for 73 yards and 8 carries for 10 yards) allowed the Steelers to keep Brooks-James on the sidelines most of the game. Edmunds was seen nursing a rib injury late in the game, but even if Brooks-James remains on the active roster and is…read more

Promoted from practice squad
Brooks-James was promoted to the Steelers' 53-man roster from the practice squad Saturday.
Analysis: The 24-year-old joined Pittsburgh's practice squad in mid-October and will provide some backfield depth for Week 9 with James Connor (shoulder) doubtful and Benny Snell (knee) ruled out. Jaylen Samuels and Trey Edmunds will likely enter Sunday's game against the Colts as the Steelers' top two running backs.
