Back with Detroit
Fromm signed with the Lions' practice squad Wednesday.
Analysis: Fromm failed to make Detroit's initial 53-man roster Tuesday, but he's now been brought back as a practice-squad player. The Georgia product last saw regular-season action in 2021 with the Giants, when he threw for 210 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions across three games.

Let go on cut-down day
Detroit waived Fromm on Tuesday.
Analysis: Fromm was a fifth-round draft pick by Buffalo in 2020 and got into three regular-season games with the Giants in 2021. He hasn't logged an NFL snap since then, however, and spent most of the previous two campaigns on Washington's practice squad. Fromm never had much of a chance of landing on Detroit's 53-man roster and played sparingly in the preseason, though he did well by completing six of eight pass attempts for 89 yards.

Signs with Lions
Fromm signed with the Lions on Monday.
Analysis: Fromm will head to Detroit after spending last season on Washington's practice squad. The 2020 fifth-round pick will now compete for the team's backup quarterback spot alongside Nate Sudfeld and Hendon Hooker (concussion).

Let go by Washington
The Commanders cut Fromm on Tuesday.
Analysis: Fromm spent the entire 2023 season on Washington's practice squad. The 2020 fifth-round pick's only career snaps in an NFL regular-season game came in 2021 with the Giants.

Signed to active roster
The Commanders signed Fromm from their practice squad to their active roster Saturday.
Analysis: Fromm had been on Washington's practice squad all season, and he hasn't gotten into a regular-season NFL game since 2021. The Commanders announced a quarterback change from Sam Howell to Jacoby Brissett mid-week, but Brissett has since picked up a hamstring injury and is a game-time call for Sunday's contest versus San Francisco. If Brissett is unable to suit up in the Week 17 matchup, Fromm figures to serve as Howell's backup.

Lands on practice squad again
Fromm agreed to join the Commanders' practice squad Friday.
Analysis: Fromm spent the majority of last season with Washington's practice squad, and he'll remain there ahead of the coming season. The Georgia product has appeared in only three games since entering the league in 2020, throwing for 210 yards, three interceptions and one touchdown throughout those appearances.

Gets cut loose
Fromm was waived by the Commanders on Tuesday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Fromm was working to beat out Jacoby Brissett for the team's No. 2 quarterback position, or at least convince them to keep three, but ultimately he was unable to do so. The Georgia product will now hope to land a practice squad spot.

Signs futures deal
The Commanders signed Fromm to a reserve/future contract Monday.
Analysis: Fromm joined the Commanders' practice squad in mid-October and spent the entire campaign there. The 2020 fifth-round pick made three appearances with the Giants in 2021, completing 45 percent of his passes and throwing three picks, but he's yet to see any NFL action outside of that span.

Joins Commanders' practice squad
Washington signed Fromm to its practice squad Tuesday.
Analysis: Fromm gets a chance on the Commanders' practice squad, as the team works to bolster its QB depth with Carson Wentz (finger) expected to miss some time. He logged three appearances with the Giants last season, throwing one touchdown and three interceptions with an unimpressive 3.5 yards per attempt.

Another poor showing in finale
Fromm completed 15 of 31 passes for 103 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions in the Giants' 22-7 loss to Washington on Sunday. He also rushed five times for 53 yards and lost a fumble.
Analysis: The young signal-caller was better than the last time he'd drawn a start Week 16, when he threw for all of 25 yards on a 35.3 percent completion rate before getting the hook. However, with Mike Glennon (wrist) unavailable Sunday, Fromm went the distance and did manage to throw his first career touchdown pass, a 22-yarder to Darius Slayton early in the fourth quarter. Given the forgettable results he generated in his few opportunities this season, it remains to be seen if the 2020 fifth-round…read more

In line for Week 18 start
Fromm is lined up to serve as the Giants' starting quarterback for Sunday's season finale against Washington after head coach Joe Judge said Monday that Mike Glennon (wrist) won't be available, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Glennon is headed for surgery on his left (non-throwing) wrist, an injury the veteran signal-caller picked up during his dreadful four-completion, four-turnover outing in the 29-3 loss to the Bears in Week 17. The Giants swapped back to Glennon for the Week 17 contest after Fromm struggled mightily in his first career start against the Eagles in Week 16, when he completed six of 17 attempts for 25 yards and one interception before being benched midway through the third quarter. Glennon showed…read more

Headed back to No. 2 role
Fromm will serve as the Giants' No. 2 quarterback in Sunday's game against the Bears and isn't expected to be used as part of a timeshare with starter Mike Glennon, who returns to the lineup after a one-game benching, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Fromm's run as the Giants' starting quarterback will end after just one game, a testament to how truly disastrous he was in his first extended NFL action during last week's 34-10 loss to the Eagles. Before being pulled midway through the third quarter, Fromm completed only six of 17 attempts for 25 yards and an interception while carrying three times for 12 yards. Glennon replaced him and didn't fare much better (17-for-27 for 93 yards, one touchdown and one interception), but the Giants may…read more

Likely to play Sunday
Fromm and Mike Glennon are both expected to take snaps at quarterback during Sunday's game against the Bears, Darryl Slater of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Fromm was replaced by Glennon in the second half of Sunday's 34-10 loss to the Eagles after he completed six of 17 passes for 25 yards and an interception in his first NFL start. Although the 23-year-old struggled prior to being replaced Week 16, he's still expected to see playing time against Chicago. Head coach Joe Judge said Wednesday that the starting quarterback will be determined based on both players' performance in practice this week.

Poor performance in first start
Fromm started Sunday's 34-10 loss to the Eagles and completed six of 17 passes for 25 yards with no touchdowns and one interception while also rushing three times for 12 yards and committing a fumble that was recovered by the offense. He was replaced by Mike Glennon with 7:48 remaining in the third quarter.
Analysis: The second-year signal-caller's NFL starting debut thus lasted little more than a half of extremely poor play. Despite the disastrous numbers, given that Mike Glennon is a free agent this offseason and is therefore not in the team's long-term plans, it wouldn't be surprising to see Fromm back under center to at least open the Week 17 road matchup against the Bears.

Still on track for Week 16 start
The Giants will have Fromm make his first NFL start Sunday against the Eagles, sources tell Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Analysis: Head coach Joe Judge wasn't willing to confirm the Giants' plans at quarterback following the team's final practice of the week Friday, but multiple reports heading into the weekend suggested the team would make the change from Mike Glennon -- who started the previous three games -- to Fromm. Schefter also reported Sunday that the Giants intend to bring back Daniel Jones as their starting quarterback for 2022, but if he plays well over the final three games of the regular season, Fromm should…read more

Likely to start over Glennon
The Giants are planning to have Fromm make his first career start in Sunday's game in Philadelphia, though head coach Joe Judge has yet to formally appoint the 23-year-old for the nod, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports.
Analysis: Judge said Monday that both Fromm and Mike Glennon -- who went 0-3 while starting each of the past three contests -- would both be evaluated in practices Wednesday through Friday before a Week 16 starter was named, but all signs point to the second-year signal-caller out of Georgia directing the offense. According to Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News, Fromm was the first quarterback to take reps at Thursday's practice, which suggests the Giants are ready to give his first extended trial at…read more

Could start Week 16
Giants head coach Joe Judge said Fromm and Mike Glennon will be evaluated in practice this week before the team names a starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: With the 4-10 Giants effectively having fallen out of the playoff race and with Daniel Jones (neck) shut down for the season, the organization may be incentivized to see what it has in the 23-year-old Fromm, who has more theoretical upside at this stage of his career than Glennon, a 32-year-old journeyman on an expiring deal. Though Glennon has started each of the past three games with Jones out of the lineup, he's completed 51 percent of his throws for 4.6 yards per attempt and a 2:5 TD:INT…read more

Set for backup role again
Fromm will back up Mike Glennon on Sunday at the Chargers after the latter cleared the concussion protocol Friday, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: The potential existed for Fromm to earn his first NFL action with Glennon subject to an examination from an independent neurologist in order to play this weekend. Instead, Glennon will get a second spot start for Daniel Jones, who hasn't been cleared for contact as he deals with a strained neck. As a result, Fromm seemingly is one play away from seeing his initial regular-season snap as a pro after he logged time during the 2021 preseason with the Bills.

Could get Week 14 start
Fromm is expected to prepare for his first NFL start Sunday against the Chargers during practices this week with the statuses of Daniel Jones (neck) and Mike Glennon (concussion) uncertain, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: After being signed off the Bills' practice squad last Tuesday, Fromm served as the backup to Glennon in Sunday's 20-9 loss to the Dolphins. Though Glennon took every snap in the contest, he was diagnosed with a concussion afterward. While Jones has yet to be cleared for contact and is considered week-to-week, Glennon's status is more up in the air, given the volatile nature of recovery timelines for concussions. At the very least, Glennon seems unlikely to clear the protocol before the Giants…read more

Set for backup duties
Coach Joe Judge said Friday that Fromm is expected to operate as the No. 2 quarterback during Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: Fromm joined the Giants on Tuesday when the team signed him off Buffalo's practice squad. With Daniel Jones (neck) out for Week 13, Mike Glennon is primed to step into the starting lineup.

Picked up by Giants
The Giants have signed Fromm from the Bills' practice squad, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Fromm spent the first half of the month on Buffalo's practice squad COVID-19 list. With Daniel Jones (neck) deemed doubtful for New York's Week 13 matchup with the Dolphins, the Georgia product projects to back up Mike Glennon under center should Jones not be able to go. Fromm has yet to see any snaps on the field during his young NFL tenure.

Activated from COVID-19 list
Fromm was activated from the practice squad COVID-19 list Thursday, Chris Jenkins of the Bills' official site reports.
Analysis: Fromm was placed on the list Nov. 2, and he now has been cleared to resume practicing. It remains to be seen if Fromm will be elevated to the active roster ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Jets, as the team already made one QB move by elevating teammate Davis Webb on Thursday.

Placed on COVID-19 list
Fromm was placed on the Bills' practice squad COVID-19 list Tuesday.
Analysis: Fromm was selected by the Bills in the fifth round of the 2020 Draft and has been working with the practice squad since. Once he is cleared to resume practicing, he will likely need at least Josh Allen or Mitchell Trubisky to be unable to play to move up from the practice squad.

Reverts to Buffalo's practice squad
Fromm was one of 15 players signed to the Bills' practice squad Wednesday, Mark Gaughan of The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: After Fromm was waived Tuesday, it was a mild surprise he wasn't scooped up by another team, given some of the promise he's started to show at such an important position. He'll end up sticking with the Bills, the team that drafted him in the sixth round of the 2020 draft. Fellow quarterback Davis Webb was also signed to the practice squad, so it's not yet clear which player the Bills consider their No. 3 option behind Josh Allen and Mitchell Trubisky.

Not one of two QBs kept
Fromm was waived by Buffalo on Tuesday, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
Analysis: Fromm had a decent preseason with a 76.8 QB rating in the finale against the Packers, following a 74.2 QB rating in Preseason Week 1 against the Lions (he only played sparingly in the second preseason game vs. Chicago). He has started to show the poise he always exhibited as a Georgia Bulldog, but in the end the Bills decided to enter the regular season with just Josh Allen and Mitchell Trubisky. There's a decent chance Fromm has a spot on the practice squad waiting for him, though we'd also…read more

Finally makes pro debut
Fromm completed eight of 13 passes for 65 yards without a touchdown or interception in Friday's preseason win over the Lions, good for a 74.2 rating.
Analysis: Fromm's highlight was leading the team on its final drive to a game-winning field goal after initially struggling by taking two drive-ending sacks on previous possessions. Even though this is Fromm's second season, this was actually his first NFL action, as there was no preseason in 2020 and the Bills purposely kept him isolated from the team in case they ran into a COVID situation with the rest of the QB room. Fromm is competing with Davis Webb for the No. 3 role behind Josh Allen and Mitchell…read more

Won't suit up Tuesday
Fromm (coach's decision) is inactive for Tuesday's game versus the Titans.

Sitting out Week 4

Stays away by design
Fromm did not practice with his teammates Wednesday as part of a planned social distancing schedule, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Nothing is wrong with Fromm, but the Bills' major fear -- which is the same as a lot of other teams -- is that an entire quarterbacks room would be ineligible if COVID-19 makes its way though the group and the team would be forced to start an emergency (and unprepared) quarterback in a given week. The Bills and a lot of other teams plan on doing this periodically so someone like Fromm would likely be virus-free should the team's top two quarterbacks not be cleared to play.

Makes team as No. 3
Fromm survived the Bills' roster cutdown Saturday and looks to begin the season as the team's No. 3 quarterback.
Analysis: For now, the rookie out of Georgia will work behind Josh Allen and Matt Barkley, though there's always a chance the team could bring in one more veteran and try to hide Fromm on the practice squad. For now , however, the Bills are choosing the sixth-rounder over Davis Webb, who was let go Saturday.

Signs rookie contract
Fromm signed his rookie contract with the Bills on Friday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The former Georgia quarterback is now under contract for the next four years in Buffalo. Josh Allen is the face of the franchise and only entering his third year, so Fromm will serve as a backup and developmental quarterback for the Bills, though how he fits in with Matt Barkley -- a guy that works well with Allen -- in the same room remains to be seen. We could see the Bills keeping three quarterbacks and the Fromm beginning his career as the No. 3 option.
