Sees more action toward year's end
Watkins finished the 2020 campaign with seven catches on 13 targets for 106 yards and a touchdown across six appearances.
Analysis: The rookie sixth-round pick spent the beginning of the campaign on injured reserve, and once activated Week 4, he was initially buried on the depth chart at wide receiver. The Eagles gained more trust in Watkins over the final quarter of the season, however, as he played at least 22 snaps in three of the last four games and drew a target in each of those contests. Watkins will still rank fairly low on the depth chart heading into 2021, making it difficult for him to carve out meaningful fantasy…read more

All clear for Week 17
Watkins (rib) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's matchup against Washington after practicing with no restrictions Friday.
Analysis: The 22-year-old steadily improved his practice participation throughout the week, and he's seemingly shown enough to the team training staff to gain clearance for Week 17. Watkins remains a depth option within the Eagles' passing attack, though he'll move up one slot in the receiving corps after DeSean Jackson (ankle) was ruled out for the regular-season finale Friday. The sixth-round rookie has produced five catches for 97 yards and a touchdown over his past two appearances.

Upgrades to limited practice
Watkins (ribs) was limited in Thursday's practice.
Analysis: Watkins couldn't practice Wednesday, so it's encouraging to see him now taking limited reps. The rookie sixth-round pick is coming off two solid efforts in which he amassed 97 total receiving yards against the Cardinals and Cowboys, but his status will need to be monitored as Sunday's tilt against the Football Team approaches.

Absent from practice
Watkins (ribs) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Watkins presumably picked up the injury in last week's loss to the Cowboys. He ended that contest with two receptions for 57 yards. His status will need to be monitored as the week progresses in order to see if he can ramp up his participation at practice.

Hauls in long bomb in loss
Watkins caught two of his three targets for 57 yards in Sunday's 37-17 loss to the Cowboys.
Analysis: After Dallas scored to go up by 13 early in the third quarter, Watkins corralled his first target of the game for a 43-yard gain to open the Eagles' next drive. Unfortunately, the rookie wouldn't see another target until Philadelphia's final possession, which came with the game out of reach. With 97 yards and a touchdown in just 40 total snaps over the last two games, Watkins may have made a case for more playing time in the season's final contest against Washington.

Notches first career touchdown
Watkins hauled in three of his four targets for 40 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 33-26 loss to Arizona.
Analysis: Watkins caught a short screen pass and spun to get around the Cardinals defense before turning on the burners and scampering 32 yards down the left sideline for the Eagles' first score of the day early in the second quarter. The rookie registered the first catch of his career his last time out, and followed it up with his first career trip to the end zone in this one. Watkins has played 50 snaps over the past two weeks while Travis Fulgham has seen his playing time and production dip.

Hauls in lone target
Watkins caught his only target for three yards during Sunday's win over the Saints.
Analysis: The rookie sixth-round pick worked as Philadelphia's No. 4 wideout and played 22 offensive snaps in his first game action since Week 6. Watkins is unlikely to have a major role in the Eagles' passing game, but he could become more involved if there's an injury to Jalen Reagor, Greg Ward or Alshon Jeffery.

Back to work Wednesday
Watkins (illness) was absent from Wednesday's injury report.
Analysis: Watkins missed last week's loss against the Packers due to an illness but seems to be fully cleared from the ailment. The rookie has seen action in just two games this season, playing 20 offensive snaps but failing to record a fantasy-relevant stat.

Out for Sunday
Watkins (illness) remains out and will not play in Sunday's game, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Due to an unknown illness, Watkins did not travel with the team and will miss his sixth game in a row. Between injuries and healthy DNPs, the rookie has only seen a total of 20 snaps this season and zero targets.

Healthy inactive Sunday
Watkins (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game versus the Giants.
Analysis: Watkins hasn't played since Week 6 when he didn't receive a target over 15 snaps on offense, and he'll watch in street clothes again Sunday. The rookie sixth-rounder was pushed out of the lineup with Jalen Reagor and Alshon Jeffery returning from injuries.

Sitting out TNF
Watkins (coach's decision) won't suit up in Thursday's game against the Giants.
Analysis: Watkins has seen limited action since returning from IR with an upper-body injury, seeing just 20 offensive snaps total across the last two games. Watkins appears to have limited-to-no role in the offense going forward, as John Hightower and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside will handle the depth receiver snaps for Thursday's contest.

Limited use since IR return
Watkins didn't draw a target while playing 15 of the Eagles' 72 offensive snaps Sunday in a 30-28 loss to the Ravens.
Analysis: Despite the Ravens holding a commanding 17-0 lead at halftime and forcing the Eagles into a pass-happy game script, Watkins was unable to connect with quarterback Carson Wentz. The rookie has now gone without a target in his two games since returning from injured reserve last week, and his fortunes are unlikely to improve in the near future. The Eagles could get one or both of DeSean Jackson (hamstring) and Alshon Jeffery (foot) back in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Giants, which…read more

Activated off IR
Watkins (upper body) was activated off injured reserve Saturday.
Analysis: The Eagles will probably take it easy with their rookie, but it's good to see Watkins activated off injured reserve after missing the last four games due to an upper body injury. Watkins returned to practice last Sunday so it'll likely take him a bit to work back into game shape, although both Alshon Jeffery (foot) and DeSean Jackson (hamstring) being ruled out could press the rookie into action, albeit on a limited basis.

Won't be activated for Week 4
Watkins (upper body) won't be available for Sunday's game against the 49ers after the Eagles elected not to activate him from injured reserve prior to Saturday's deadline for Week 4 roster moves, Jeff Skversky of 6 ABC Philadelphia reports.
Analysis: After missing the Eagles' first three games with the upper-body injury, Watkins was cleared to return to practice this week, but the coaching and medical staffs evidently determined that the rookie needed more time to get back up to full speed. The Eagles can still evaluate Watkins for two and a half more weeks before determining whether or not to add him to the 53-man roster, with his next chance to make his NFL debut coming Oct. 11 in Pittsburgh.

Returns to practice
Philadelphia designated Watkins (upper body) to return from injured reserve Tuesday, Chris McPherson of the Eagles' official site reports.
Analysis: The transaction opens a 21-day window in which Watkins can take part in practices while the Eagles evaluate him for a potential promotion to the 53-man roster. Watkins missed the Eagles' first three games with an upper-body injury, but if the coaching staff is satisfied with where he stands on the health front during practice this week, he could be cleared to make his NFL debut as soon as Sunday in San Francisco. The Eagles are in dire need of another healthy body at receiver with all of Alshon…read more

Shifts to IR
The Eagles placed Watkins (upper body) on injured reserve Sunday.
Analysis: Watkins will need to spend at least three weeks on injured reserve before being eligible to return to the active roster, so his first chance to suit up this season will come Week 4 at San Francisco. The rookie sixth-round pick was considered day-to-day while sitting out with an upper body injury at training camp, so it shouldn't take him too long to get healthy.

Wears pads at Tuesday's practice
Watkins (upper body) practiced with pads Tuesday, Mike Kaye of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Watkins was initially considered day-to-day after missing Saturday's practice, and he's almost back to full form. It's unclear if the rookie sixth-round pick was limited at all in practice, but he should be fully healthy for Week 1 nonetheless. With Jalen Reagor (shoulder) expected to miss a few weeks and Alshon Jeffrey (foot) still on the PUP list, Watkins has a solid chance to make the 53-man roster after posting 1,178 yards and six touchdowns in his final collegiate season.

Day-to-day with injury
Watkins did not participate in practice Saturday due to an upper-body injury, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Analysis: The report indicates Watkins is day-to-day with the undefined injury. The 2020 sixth-round pick hasn't necessarily stood out during training camp thus far, but the sheer volume of other qualified receiving threats has largely been the reason as opposed to any sort of shortcomings he has a receiver.

Gets nice opportunity sans Goodwin
Watkins could pick up some of the slack after Marquise Goodwin opted out of the 2020 season, ESPN.com's Tim McManus reports.
Analysis: The Eagles prioritized speed in late April, trading for an Olympic long jumper (Goodwin) after they'd used three draft picks on wideouts with sub-4.5 speed. Watkins, a 4.35 burner, was the last of those three selections as a sixth-rounder, arguably making him a candidate for the practice squad more so than the active roster. However, his chances to make the team now look much better, with Goodwin sitting out 2020 and Alshon Jeffery slow to recover from Lisfranc surgery. It's still a long shot…read more
