Hardly involved in passing game
Palmer caught two of his four targets for 23 yards in the 34-27 win over the Bengals on Sunday.
Analysis: It appears as if both Ladd McConkey (6-9-123) and Quentin Johnston (six touchdowns this season) have surpassed Palmer, who was once presumed to be the team's defacto No. 1 to begin the year. The 2021 third-round pick has yet to surpass more than five targets in a game, but he's at least seen four or more targets in all but three contests this season. That low volume could change next week as the Chargers try to keep pace with the Ravens.

Only one catch
Palmer tallied 36 yards on his one reception (two targets) in the 27-17 win over the Titans on Sunday.
Analysis: The Chargers once again finished with more rushing attempts (39) than pass attempts (18), limiting any sort of volume Palmer might have been able to compile. It's a feast or famine fantasy system in Los Angeles dependent on wide receivers scoring touchdowns. It's possible there will be more passing volume against the porous Bengals defense next week.

Strong production on two catches
Palmer brought in two of four targets for 63 yards and a touchdown in the Chargers' 27-10 win over the Browns on Sunday.
Analysis: Palmer made good use of his pair of grabs, recording a 28-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter and adding a 26-yard catch on the final drive of the first half. Palmer was also credited with an additional nine receiving yards on an end-of-half lateral, leading to his third straight game with 60-plus receiving yards. Palmer has yet to see more than five targets in any game this season, however, so he remains a somewhat risky option dependent on big plays heading into a Week 10 home…read more

Continues upward trajectory
Palmer caught two of four targets for 72 yards in Sunday's 26-8 win over the Saints.
Analysis: Palmer didn't see significant volume but made the most of his limited touches with catches of 27 and 45 yards. He has increased his receiving yardage total in all six of his appearances this season, with a jump from 38 yards in Week 6 to 63 in Week 7 preceding Sunday's season-best effort, but Palmer has yet to score a touchdown this season. Palmer will look to snap that touchdown drought in Week 9 against the Browns.

Solid but unspectacular in loss
Palmer secured four of five targets for 63 yards in the Chargers' 17-15 loss to the Cardinals on Monday night.
Analysis: Palmer was expected to see a larger role with the absence of No. 2 receiver Quentin Johnston (ankle), but he saw only a slight bump in targets. The extra involvement was enough to allow Palmer to set season highs across the board, yet he was only third in catches and fourth in targets, with tight end Will Dissly surprisingly setting the pace across the board for the Chargers' pass catchers. Palmer next takes aim at the Saints in a Week 8 home matchup, a game that Johnston could also potentially…read more

Not involved much in win
Palmer caught two of his three targets for 38 yards in the 23-17 win over the Broncos on Sunday.
Analysis: Simi Fehoko, Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey all saw more targets than Palmer, but the 25-year-old did play the second-most snaps of any Chargers wideout. The offense just doesn't pass the ball often enough to have more than one target be a consistent fantasy factor, and right now Palmer is no better than third on the target chart week to week.

Four catches in return
Palmer recorded three receptions on four targets for 36 yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Chiefs.
Analysis: Palmer returned from a one-game absence caused by an elbow and calf issue. He finished tied for third on the team in targets -- behind Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston -- and did the majority of his damage on a 26-yard reception late in the third quarter. While it wasn't a particularly impressive performance, it was Palmer's highest yardage total in a game this season.

In clear for Week 4
Palmer (elbow/calf) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
Analysis: The pair of injuries kept Palmer from practicing Week 3 before he sat out a 20-10 loss to the Steelers, but after opening Week 4 prep with limited and full practices, he's on track to put an end to his one-game absence this Sunday versus the Chiefs. What's less clear is which quarterback Palmer might be working with, as Justin Herbert aggravated an ankle injury against Pittsburgh and has been limited in both of the Chargers' first Week 4 practices. Returns to limited practice
Palmer (elbow/calf) was listed as a limited practice participant Wednesday.
Analysis: Palmer didn't practice at all Week 3, so his participation in Wednesday's session in a limited capacity offers hope that his absence from the lineup may last just one game. The wideout has two more chances to increase his practice participation ahead of Sunday's contest against the Chiefs.

Not playing Week 3
Palmer (elbow/calf) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Steelers.
Analysis: Though Palmer failed to practice in any fashion this week due to his pair of injuries, the Chargers still held out some hope the wideout could be available Sunday, as he was listed as questionable heading into the weekend. He'll ultimately miss his first game of the season, however, with his absence perhaps paving the way for either Simi Fehoko or Derius Davis to join Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey in three-receiver sets. Status in question for Sunday
Palmer (elbow/calf) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Palmer was held out of practice Wednesday and Thursday due to elbow and calf injuries, but neither concern is enough to rule him out for Week 3 action. In the end, his availability will be confirmed, one way or another, about 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey would stand to benefit if Palmer is inhibited or sidelined this weekend, with Derius Davis, Simi Fehoko and Brenden Rice the other available wide receivers on the Chargers' active roster.

Misses Thursday's practice
Palmer (calf/elbow) did not practice Thursday.
Analysis: Palmer played through a knee issue during the Chargers' win over the Panthers in Week 2, but he's now missed consecutive practices while being listed with two new injuries. He was at least present for Thursday's session, with Daniel Popper of The Athletic noting that Palmer was working out off to the side. Palmer will still need to upgrade to at least limited practice participation Friday in the Chargers' final session of the week to have a chance at playing Sunday in Pittsburgh.

Dealing with new injuries
Palmer didn't practice Wednesday due to elbow and calf injuries.
Analysis: Palmer is listed with a new pair of injuries after being questionable last week due to a problem with his knee. He ended up playing in Sunday's 26-3 win over the Panthers, catching both of his targets for 19 yards while playing only 41 percent of snap on offense. It's possible his role will be scaled back again if he ends up playing this Sunday at Pittsburgh.

Minimal production against Panthers
Palmer caught both of his targets for 19 yards in Sunday's 26-3 win over the Panthers.
Analysis: Through two weeks, Palmer has recorded just four catches for 34 yards. The veteran wideout has yet to establish himself as the Chargers' top option in the passing game, while teammates Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey have earned more attention for their roles in the offense. Nonetheless, Palmer will look to take a step forward in Week 3 when the Chargers visit the Steelers.

Suiting up Sunday
Palmer (knee) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
Analysis: After logging two limited practices, Palmer finished the week with a 'DNP' on Friday and headed into the weekend listed as questionable. With his availability Sunday versus Carolina confirmed, Palmer should continue to see his share of snaps and targets alongside fellow WRs Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston in the absence of any limitations or setbacks. Prior to being ejected late in the fourth quarter of the Chargers' Week 1 win over the Raiders, Palmer logged an 81percent snap share on…read more

Likely to play Sunday
Palmer (knee), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers, is "tracking to play," a source tells Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Analysis: Palmer failed to complete a full practice this week, turning in a pair of limited sessions Wednesday and Thursday before sitting out Friday's session entirely. His absence Friday apparently wasn't the result of a setback and might have been precautionary more than anything, so Palmer is expected to be cleared to play when the Chargers release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff. Even if Palmer suits up as anticipated, he might have his snaps managed to some degree.

Fails to practice, listed questionable
Palmer (knee) didn't practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
Analysis: Palmer downgraded to no participation Friday after two limited practices to begin the week, so he may be trending in the wrong direction. If Palmer joins DJ Chark (hip) on the sideline Sunday, Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey would be joined by Derius Davis, Simi Fehoko or Brenden Rice in three-receiver sets.

Questionable for Week 2
Palmer (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers.
Analysis: Palmer was limited in practice throughout the week. He's coming off a disappointing season opener in which Palmer had just two catches for 15 yards before being ejected in the fourth quarter after getting into a fight with Raiders defensive back Jack Jones. On the bright side, Palmer doesn't appear to be facing any supplemental discipline from the team for his ejection.

Remains limited at practice
Palmer (knee) remained limited at practice Thursday.
Analysis: Palmer was also limited Wednesday, but so far there's nothing to suggest that he's in much danger of missing Sunday's game against the Panthers. That said, the wideout will presumably need to practice fully Friday in order to avoid a Week 2 injury designation.

Logs limited practice
Palmer was a limited participant at practice Wednesday due to a knee injury.
Analysis: Palmer was listed on the Chargers' Week 1 injury report as a full participant both Thursday and Friday, but he may be more banged up this week following Sunday's 22-10 win over the Raiders. In that contest, Palmer logged an 81 percent snap share to lead all Chargers receivers and caught two of his four targets for 15 yards.

Only two targets in opener
Palmer caught two of four targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 22-10 win over the Raiders.
Analysis: Palmer at least had the aura of a No. 1 target as the Raiders seemed to deliberately take away the fourth-year wide receiver during the few times Justin Herbert dropped back to pass in the first half. Both Ladd McConkey (seven) and Quentin Johnston (five) drew more targets than Palmer, but both had schemed looks scattered in throughout a game that saw the teams combine for nearly 50 rushing attempts. Pole position for top targets
Palmer is in position to be the team's leader in targets this season, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: This statement by Popper underscores the relationship Palmer and Justin Herbert have, whereas the team's other top pass catchers are newcomers. Rookie second-round pick Ladd McConkey is most likely to challenge for a plethora of targets, but Palmer has been Herbert's fourth-most-targeted wideout in his young career -- a stat that matters significantly after the quarterback missed critical time in training camp due to a foot injury.

Palmer has been a regular presence on the first-team offense at training camp, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Palmer, Ladd McConkey and DJ Chark reportedly are dominating the wideout reps on the starting offense, leaving Quentin Johnston and others to work with the backups. Palmer averaged a career-high 58.1 receiving yards per game last season, including 70.6 yards per game from Week 3 onward, but a knee injury and concussion led to seven absences. Palmer (knee) handled his most reps of the offseason during Tuesday's practice, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Palmer averaged a career-high 58.1 receiving yards per game last season, but he missed Weeks 9 through 14 with a knee sprain and then suffered another knee injury in the season finale. Left atop depth chart
Palmer (knee) and Quentin Johnston are the top wide receivers left on the Chargers after the team released Mike Williams and traded Keenan Allen.
Analysis: The other part of the equation is that the Chargers own the fifth overall pick in a draft with three elite WR prospects. That doesn't necessarily mean they'll end up with Marvin Harrison, Malik Nabers or Rome Odunze, but it'll certainly be a common prediction in mock drafts over the next six weeks. Season marred by injuries
Palmer, who left Sunday's 13-12 loss to the Chiefs early with a knee injury, tallied 38 receptions for 581 receiving yards and two touchdowns across 10 games during the 2023 season.
Analysis: When Palmer was healthy, the third-year receiver seamlessly stepped up in the absence of Mike Williams (knee) and established himself quickly as a reliable target opposite Keenan Allen for quarterback Justin Herbert. The 24-year-old had at least seven targets in four straight games prior to leaving the Week 8 contest against the Bears due to a knee sprain that drew an injured-reserve stint. Palmer has cleared concussion protocol and will play Sunday against the Chiefs, Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reports.
Analysis: Palmer's absence due to a concussion was limited to one game. He was a limited participant in all three of the Chargers' practices during the week, but that was enough to gain clearance for the season finale. With Keenan Allen (heel) ruled out, Palmer will be one of the top targets for Easton Stick against a Kansas City secondary that could be resting some of its top players.

Palmer (concussion) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Palmer sat out the Chargers' Week 17 loss to Denver with a concussion, but his ability to open Week 18 prep with a limited practice suggests he's made some incremental progress through the five-step protocol for head injuries. He'll likely need to put in a full practice by the end of the week in addition to gaining clearance from an independent neurologist in order to have a chance at playing in Sunday's season finale versus Kansas City. Analysis: With both Palmer and Keenan Allen (heel) unavailable, rookie Quentin Johnston, Jalen Guyton and Alex Erickson are expected to work as the top wideouts for quarterback Easton Stick in the Chargers' depleted passing attack. Not practicing Thursday
Palmer (concussion) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Palmer also missed Wednesday's session and now has one more chance to practice ahead of Sunday's game against the Broncos. The same goes for fellow wideout Keenan Allen (heel), who along with Palmer was spotted doing some agility work and running off to the side with trainers Thursday. If neither receiver is cleared to play Week 17, the Chargers would be left with Quentin Johnston, Alex Erickson and Jalen Guyton as their presumptive top three wideouts.

In concussion protocol
Palmer didn't practice Wednesday due to a concussion.
Analysis: Palmer played 61 offensive snaps and logged five catches on eight targets for 47 yards in this past Saturday's 24-22 loss to the Bills, but he was placed in the NFL's concussion protocol at some point after the game, according to Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times. The Chargers were also without Keenan Allen (heel) at Wednesday's practice, so for the time being, Quentin Johnston, Alex Erickson and Jalen Guyton are the Chargers' top healthy receivers as Sunday's game in Denver approaches.

Leading receiver on eight targets
Palmer had five receptions on eight targets for 47 yards in Saturday's 24-22 loss to the Bills.
Analysis: Palmer continued to serve as the Chargers' No. 1 wideout after Keenan Allen (heel) was forced to miss his second week of action in a row. The former finished as his team's leading receiver, but he failed to recreate last week's long touchdown grab. Analysis: Palmer had his 21-day window to return from injured reserve opened Wednesday, but he won't be activated prior to Sunday's clash with Denver. The Chargers designated Palmer (knee) for return from injured reserve Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

His presence would be a notable boost to the Chargers' receiving corps, which is lacking in reliable contributors beyond No. 1 option Keenan Allen. Analysis: Palmer has already missed the required four games while on IR, and though the Chargers aren't closing the door on the receiver playing again this season, he doesn't look to be a candidate to play Sunday against the Patriots. Palmer (knee) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Jets, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: Palmer didn't log any reps in practice this week, so the Chargers' decision to rule him out for Monday's contest comes as little surprise. Rookie Quentin Johnston could end up seeing an expanded profile on offense sans Palmer, especially in the continued absence of Mike Williams (knee), who is out for the season. Analysis: Palmer missed practice Thursday, so what the wideout is able to do Saturday, if anything, will be telling with regard to his chances of suiting up Monday night against the Jets. If Palmer ends being limited or out, though, rookie first-rounder Quentin Johnston would be slated to see added Week 9 opportunities alongside fellow WR Keenan Allen.

Misses Thursday's practice
Palmer (knee) was officially a non-participant in practice Thursday.
Analysis: Palmer now has two more chances to return to practice ahead of Monday night's game against the Jets. If the wideout ends up limited or out Week 9, however, Quentin Johnston would be in line to see added opportunities alongside the Chargers' top pass catcher Keenan Allen.

Not seen at Thursday's practice
Palmer (knee) wasn't spotted at Thursday's practice, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The Chargers' upcoming injury report will confirm Palmer's participation level either way, but the wideout did appear to be dealing with a knee issue during a portion of this past Sunday's win over the Bears, per Popper. Palmer, who finished up the contest, ended up catching three of his four targets for 24 yards while logging 47 of a possible 69 snaps on offense.

Suffers injury, but finishes game
Palmer (knee) temporarily exited Sunday's contest to have his right knee examined, only to return later and finish with three catches on four targets for 24 yards in a 30-13 win over the Bears.
Analysis: Palmer appeared to have hurt the same knee that he injured in last week's loss to Kansas City. It was a positive sign that he returned and was able to finish the contest, but it is worth noting that two of Palmer's three receptions Sunday occurred before he went down in the first quarter. While no one would have questioned his toughness had he sat out the rest of the contest, it sounds like the receiver was playing at a limited capacity. Another piece of evidence in support of that theory was…read more

Back in with knee taped
Palmer (knee) has returned to Sunday's game against the Bears, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Palmer had his right knee looked at in the blue medical tent after liming off the field in the first quarter but managed to return in the second quarter after getting the knee taped up. An injury to the same knee had limited his practice participation heading into Sunday's game, so Palmer's playing at less than full health but will try to tough it out.

Appears to aggravate knee injury
Palmer limped off the field in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Bears while grabbing the same right knee that he hurt in his previous game against the Chiefs, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Palmer missed practice Wednesday and Thursday due to the injury but managed to suit up Sunday after logging a limited session Friday. He caught two passes for 18 yards but stayed down after his second catch. Palmer eventually limped off the field and to the blue medical tent for further evaluation, but an official injury designation has yet to be provided by the team.

Suits up versus Chicago
Palmer (knee) is listed as active for Sunday night's game against the Bears.
Analysis: Palmer missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, but after his return to a limited session Friday he was listed as questionable heading into the weekend. With Palmer's availability against Chicago confirmed, the wideout figures to remain a key cog in the Chargers' Week 8 passing game alongside PPR stalwart Keenan Allen in the absence of any in-game setbacks or limitations, with Quentin Johnston and Derius Davis also candidates to mix in. Game-time decision for Sunday
Palmer (knee) is considered a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the Bears, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Palmer and tight end Gerald Everett (hip) are both officially listed as questionable, but the Chargers will likely gauge the health of both players during pregame warmups before deciding on their availability. Of the two players, the Chargers are reportedly more optimistic about Palmer's chances of suiting up versus Chicago. Official word on Palmer's status will arrive when the Chargers release their inactive list roughly 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff.

Questionable after limited practice
Palmer (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears after practicing in a limited fashion Friday.
Analysis: Palmer missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, but his return to a limited session Friday suggests that he has a chance to play through his knee issue this weekend. Per Daniel Popper of The Athletic, Palmer sported a sleeve on his right leg while doing drills Friday. With the Chargers kicking off at 8:20 p.m. ET on Sunday, Palmer's fantasy managers will likely want to keep a close eye on news pertaining to the wideout to get a sense of whether he's trending toward playing or sitting out. Palmer (knee) is participating in individual drills at Friday's practice, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Palmer will likely be marked as a limited participant when the Chargers release Friday's practice report, which is still an improvement after he failed to practice Wednesday or Thursday. The wide receiver sported a sleeve on his right leg Friday and could have to play with some protection on his injured knee if he gets the green ligh to suit up Sunday against the Bears. Still not practicing
Palmer (knee) wasn't spotted at Thursday's practice, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Palmer didn't practice Wednesday, so his continued absence a day later puts the focus clearly on what the wideout is able to do during Friday's session. If Palmer ends up sitting out Sunday against the Bears or is available to play only limited snaps, Quentin Johnston would be in line to see added opportunities alongside top wide receiver Keenan Allen.

Misses practice with knee injury
Palmer missed practice Wednesday due to a knee injury, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: Palmer didn't appear to be hindered by any injury Sunday, when he played 98 percent of the Chargers' offensive snaps and recorded a career-high 133 receiving yards in a 31-17 loss to Kansas City. He's seen either seven or eight targets in each of four games since Mike Williams (knee) suffered a season-ending ACL tear, with at least three catches and 60 yards in every contest. New career high in receiving yards
Palmer caught five of his seven targets for 133 yards in the 31-17 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday.
Analysis: The third-year wideout set a career high in receiving yards Sunday thanks to an excellent 60-yard reception that set up the team's second touchdown of the first half. Palmer has benefitted tremendously in the absence of Mike Williams (knee), posting a line of 12-270-0 in the last three games to go along with 22 targets. Palmer (groin) finished with four receptions (on seven targets) for 60 yards in Monday's 20-17 loss to Dallas.
Analysis: Palmer finished second in receiving for the Chargers after being labeled as questionable with a groin injury that popped up late in the practice week. The 24-year-old produced solid results similar to his last two games after replacing the injured Mike Williams (knee). Palmer (groin) is officially listed as questionable but is expected to suit up for Monday's game against the Cowboys, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Palmer practiced in full all week before being marked as questionable Saturday with a groin injury, indicating he may have tweaked it during the Chargers' final session of the week. Nonetheless, he's expected to play versus Dallas. Added to injury report for Week 6
The Chargers added Palmer to their injury report for Monday's game against the Cowboys, listing him as questionable with a groin injury.
Analysis: Palmer had been a full practice participant all week, but he may have picked up the injury at some point during the team's final session Saturday. In any case, his late addition to the injury report suddenly muddles his status for Monday and leaves fantasy managers who were planning on including him in Week 6 lineups in a tough position. Big catch saves game late
Palmer caught three of his eight targets for 77 yards in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Raiders.
Analysis: Palmer snared a 51-yard dart by quarterback Justin Herbert on the final throw of the game, salvaging what would have been a disappointing outing for fantasy managers, especially in the absence of Mike Williams (knee). With the Chargers on a bye next week, it's entirely possible the coaching staff will work to better implement 2023 first-round pick Quentin Johnston into the offensive scheme, but it's hard to imagine that will directly come at the expense of Palmer, who has 20 targets over the…read more

Palmer is expected to see more targets moving forward after Mike Williams was diagnosed Monday with a season-ending ACL tear, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Both Palmer and 2023 first-round pick Quentin Johnston are expected to take on increased volume in the Chargers' passing game in Williams' absence, though Keenan Allen should continue to work as the top target for quarterback Justin Herbert. Through three games, Palmer has 13 targets -- exactly one third of Allen's total and half of Williams' -- while Johnston has been targeted only eight times.

May be stepping into increased role
Palmer recorded four receptions on seven targets for 66 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-24 win over the Vikings.
Analysis: Palmer saw four targets in the first half, but his involvement was overshadowed by a lost fumble that set up a field goal for the Vikings. That changed with eight minutes left in the game when he caught a ball tipped off the hands of Vikings corner Akayleb Evans for a game-winning 30-yard touchdown catch. Not involved in loss
Palmer caught three of his five targets for 13 yards in the 27-24 overtime loss to the Titans on Sunday.
Analysis: Palmer once again saw a heavy snap share, tallying 37 offensive snaps compared to Derius Davis' 11 and 2023 first-round pick Quentin Johnston's 10. Despite a lackluster ground attack, Justin Herbert and the passing unit primarily fed Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, essentially relegating Palmer to an afterthought. It's possible the third-year receiver could be involved more in what figures to be an offensive onslaught Week 3 against the Vikings.

Logs 55 offensive snaps in loss
Palmer caught his only target for four yards in the 36-34 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
Analysis: If you look at only the box score, it would appear as if 2023 first-round pick Quentin Johnston has already supplanted Palmer in the pecking order, as the rookie had three targets. But on closer inspection, Palmer far outpaced Johnston in playing time, registering 55 offensive snaps compared to Johnston's 22. Should maintain role behind top duo
As the coming season approaches, Daniel Popperof the Athletic predicts that Palmer will log a majority of the Chargers' No. 3 wide receiver snaps out of the gate.
Analysis: During the 2022 campaign, Palmer recorded 72 catches (on 107 targets) for 769 yards and three TDs in 16 games, with part of his statistical productivity attributable to top WRs Keenan Allen and Mike Williams each missing a chunk of time due to injuries. Palmer (undisclosed) was present for Monday's practice, Jeff Miller of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: Palmer left practice early Thursday but is back on the field Monday, suggesting that his unspecified issue was a minor one. He's coming off a 2022 season in which he caught 72 passes (on 107 targets) for 769 yards and three TDs in 16 games, but with fellow returning WRs Keenan Allen and Mike Williams healthy as the coming season approaches and 2023 first-rounder Quentin Johnston also in the mix, Palmer could be hard-pressed to garner the sort of volume he drew last year.

Sliding down depth chart?
Palmer is part of a WR room that now includes 21st overall pick Quentin Johnston in addition to veterans Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reports.
Analysis: In other words, Palmer may slide down to fourth or fifth on the depth chart, after starting 11 games last season and drawing 107 targets. His volume was aided by both Allen and Williams missing significant chunks of time, and Palmer averaged only 10.7 yards per catch and 7.2 per target -- identical to his marks on 49 targets as a rookie the year before. Analysis: Palmer's expected to operate as the No. 2 wide receiver behind Keenan Allen in Williams' absence. Four catches in Week 18
Palmer secured four of six targets for 39 yards in the Chargers' 31-28 loss to the Broncos on Sunday.
Analysis: Palmer's modest performance was underwhelming within a Week 18 context, but it doesn't sully what was a career-best regular season that saw the second-year wideout post a 72-769-3 line across 16 games. Additionally, Palmer could be primed for a substantial role in Saturday's wild-card road matchup versus the Jaguars, considering Mike Williams exited Sunday's game with a back injury and could therefore be sidelined or limited against Jacksonville.

Absent from box score
Palmer did not catch his only target in the 31-10 win over the Rams on Sunday.
Analysis: While Palmer did play a healthy amount of snaps (36), the nature of Sunday's blowout meant the third wideout took a relative back seat with most of the Chargers' regulars sitting by the fourth quarter. The second-year wideout has seen his production dip dramatically with the return of Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, to the point he's not at all a lock for fantasy lineups next week despite the Chargers having plenty to play for in terms of playoff seeding.

Next to nothing in win
Palmer caught two of his three targets for 16 yards in the 20-3 win Monday over the Colts.
Analysis: The Colts struggled to muster any sort of offense, which allowed a lethargic Chargers offense to putter through a game that was hardly in any doubt. Monday marked the third straight game in which Palmer drew seven or less targets after recording 58 from Weeks 6-13. The return of Keenan Allen and Mike Williams from their respective injuries has essentially relegated Palmer to fourth in the target chain, with running back Austin Ekeler also a featured member of the passing attack.

Palmer caught all five of his targets for 49 yards in Sunday's 17-14 win over the Titans.
Analysis: The second-year wideout has seen his volume shrink the last two weeks with both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams healthy, but Palmer has stayed fairly productive with a 9-102 line on 11 targets. He could post big numbers in Week 16 even on limited looks from Justin Herbert against a reeling Colts defense that just got lit up by Justin Jefferson and K.J. Osborn.

Palmer caught four of his six targets for 53 yards in Sunday's 23-17 win over the Dolphins.
Analysis: Despite the fact Justin Herbert attempted 51 passes, the second-year wideout saw his lowest target total since Week 5. The return of Mike Williams alongside a healthy Keenan Allen may finally bump Palmer out of must-start fantasy territory, but he still appears to have a solid floor in PPR formats given the Chargers' reliance on the passing attack.

Palmer caught seven of his 11 targets for 60 yards in the 27-20 loss to the Raiders on Sunday.
Analysis: Palmer now has 46 targets over the past five weeks, with 28 coinciding with the return of Keenan Allen (hamstring). The second-year receiver has quietly continued to build on what was a promising end to his rookie season and could be on pace to scratch 800 receiving yards despite entering the season as the clear fourth priority in the passing game. Posts another uneven outing
Palmer tallied three receptions (six targets) for 24 yards in Sunday's 30-28 win over the Browns.
Analysis: Keenan Allen (hamstring) surprisingly continues to miss time, but it hasn't really helped the fantasy prospects of Palmer who registered his second consecutive game with fewer than four receptions. Palmer had built up a bit of preseason hype after emerging as the team's No. 3 wideout during training camp, but he's been an inconsistent disappointment for a team that typically passes the ball plenty. A difficult matchup against the Broncos secondary is up next for Palmer and company.

Good to go Sunday
Palmer (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Browns.
Analysis: Despite taking a questionable tag into the weekend, Palmer always seemed like a good bet to play after turning in a pair of limited practices before upgrading to full participation Friday. With Palmer now having been formally cleared to suit up, he'll look to capitalize on the absence of top wideout Keenan Allen (hamstring), who is missing his fourth straight game. Palmer laid an egg in the Chargers' Week 4 win over Houston, playing 57 percent of the offensive snaps while drawing just one…read more

Status in question for Week 5
Palmer (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest at Cleveland.
Analysis: After kicking off Week 5 prep with back-to-back limited practices due to an ankle issue, Palmer capped it with a full session Friday. While his status is up in the air heading into the weekend, he has the benefit of a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff to determine his availability this Sunday. If he's active, he'll be working in a receiving corps without Keenan Allen (hamstring) for a fourth straight game, which has resulted in an 11-154-1 line on 18 targets for Palmer during that stretch.

Limited by ankle issue
Palmer was a limited participant at practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Palmer's status is worth tracking as Sunday's game against the Browns approaches, with Keenan Allen (hamstring) not practicing Wednesday and uncertain to return to the lineup this weekend. If Allen remains sidelined this weekend, Palmer, DeAndre Carter and possibly Michael Bandy would be in line for added opportunities versus the Browns.

Catches just one pass
Palmer caught his lone reception for 25 yards in Sunday's 34-24 win over the Texans.
Analysis: Keenan Allen (hamstring) missed his third straight game, but with the Chargers ahead for most of the game Palmer ultimately took a back seat, playing just 57 percent of the offensive snaps compared to 90-plus in the past two contests. Allen is listed as day-to-day entering Week 5 and likely would bump Palmer completely out of the slot, where he's been thriving in past weeks. Expect more inconsistent performances to follow despite being well-situated in an explosive offense.

Breakout game in loss
Palmer tallied six receptions (on nine targets) for 99 yards in Sunday's 38-10 loss to the Jaguars.
Analysis: Palmer finally had the type of game many thought was possible after earning the No. 3 wide receiver role during training camp. A 45-yard catch-and-run late in the second half ended up being the second most explosive play by the Chargers all afternoon, but it also showcased Palmer's speed, which has been an underreported part of his game. Keenan Allen (hamstring) seems like he could be back after missing the last two weeks, but it's possible Palmer could still be a reliable factor within the…read more

Late TD salvages day
Palmer snared four passes on eight targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 27-24 loss to the Chiefs.
Analysis: Palmer ultimately was top two in terms of routes run and offensive snaps among the team's wide receivers with Keenan Allen (hamstring) sidelined, but the second-year wideout didn't really make do with the additional opportunities. It appeared as if quarterback Justin Herbert and Palmer had a bit of a disconnect throughout the first half whether it be ball placement or precision of routes, but a touchdown in the waning seconds of the loss did end up salvaging what would have been a disappointing…read more

Primed for key role
Palmer could have a heightened role in the Chargers' passing attack Thursday against the Chiefs with teammate Keenan Allen (hamstring) ruled out for the contest.
Analysis: Palmer profiles as the Chargers' No. 2 receiver in a game with one of the highest expected point totals of Week 2. He managed just five receiving yards on four targets in a 24-19 win over Las Vegas in Week 1, but Palmer's 75 percent snap share in the contest was third-largest of his career. The Chargers used Palmer as their No. 2 receiver and DeAndre Carter as the No. 3 after Allen was injured last week, while Jalen Guyton barely got off the bench (five snaps).

Nearly invisible in win
Palmer registered three receptions on four targets for five yards in Sunday's 24-19 win over the Raiders. He also carried the ball once for four yards.
Analysis: After Keenan Allen left midway through the second quarter with a hamstring injury, there was a window for Palmer to make an impact. While the second-year wide receiver did play 50 snaps, easily the second most among wide receivers behind Mike Williams, Palmer was unable to do anything with the increased workload. Instead DeAndre Carter drew the extra attention from Justin Herbert, and he capitalized with two 20-yard receptions including one that went for a score. Allen is expected to miss a bit…read more

Unlikely to play Friday
Palmer isn't expected to play in Friday's preseason game in New Orleans, Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reports.
Analysis: After recording three catches (on eight targets) for 75 yards and a touchdown in the team's first two exhibitions, Palmer spent time in the concussion protocol earlier this week, gaining clearance Wednesday. Still, coach Brandon Staley won't risk the health of the Chargers' No. 3 wide receiver in the preseason finale. Palmer, a 2021 third-rounder, posted a 33-353-4 line on 49 targets in 17 games as a rookie last season.

Clears protocol
Palmer cleared the concussion protocol Wednesday, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Palmer entered the protocol after catching three passes for 75 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason game against the Cowboys. The effort presumably helped his bid to become the Chargers' clear No. 3 receiver, a role he and Jalen Guyton essentially shared in 2021. A few missed practices shouldn't have any affect on their ongoing competition.

Enters concussion protocol
Palmer is in the concussion protocol, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Palmer presumably got hurt during Saturday's preseason game, in which he toasted the Cowboys for 3-75-1 on four targets. He looks to be ahead of Jalen Guyton in the competition for the No. 3 receiver spot, though it's possible both guys play some behind Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. With his concussion occurring 22 days before a Week 1 matchup with Las Vegas, the second-year wideout should have enough time to make his way through the NFL's concussion protocol.

Team-high receiving yards in loss
Palmer secured three of four targets for 75 yards and a touchdown in the Chargers' 32-18 preseason loss to the Cowboys on Saturday night.
Analysis: Palmer notched a team-high amount of receiving yardage and also recorded an 18-yard touchdown grab off a screen pass early in the second quarter. The 22-year-old notably saw the first two targets of the game from Easton Stick, with the first play resulting in a defensive offside penalty and the second in an interception. Palmer's strong performance Saturday after he went without a catch in the preseason-opening loss to the Rams seemingly further cements his hold on the No. 3 receiver job.

Comes up empty on four targets
Palmer didn't bring in any of his four targets in the Chargers' 29-22 preseason loss to the Rams on Saturday night.
Analysis: Palmer, the frontrunner for the No. 3 receiver job, got the first target of the night with neither Keenan Allen nor Mike Williams in action. The former, a 2021 third-round pick, turned in a solid rookie season with 33 receptions, 353 yards and four touchdowns on 49 targets, and the experience he garnered should serve him well in his quest to make a significant second-year leap.

Clear frontrunner for No. 3 WR
Palmer has been the No. 3 wide receiver during the majority of the Chargers' practices thus far in training camp, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: It's still relatively early in the preseason, but Palmer has seemingly wrestled away the No. 3 wide receiver duties from Jalen Guyton. Palmer, a second-year wideout, was already playing with the first-stringers during offseason OTAs and has only solidified the rationale with a strong performance during training camp to date. While Guyton has reportedly also had a strong camp, it seems more likely the two-year starter might be relegated to sub packages within the offense whenever the Chargers…read more

Works with first-string offense
Palmer worked with the first-team offense during the Chargers' OTAs, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: It's far too early in the offseason to make a definitive claim about Guyton's role heading into the 2022 campaign, but the third-round pick may be the early frontrunner for the No. 3 gig ahead of Jalen Guyton. Palmer quietly came into his own toward the end of his rookie season, compiling 18 receptions, 185 yards and three touchdowns over the final five games. Scores in season finale
Palmer caught four of his nine targets for 45 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 35-32 overtime loss to the Raiders. The rookie finished the 2021 season with 33 receptions for 353 yards and four touchdowns.
Analysis: It took COVID-19 absences from both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams to force the issue, but Palmer quietly seemed to earn confidence from quarterback Justin Herbert toward the latter half of the season, accumulating 18 receptions, 185 yards and three touchdowns in his last five games. Both Williams and nominal No. 3 starter Jalen Guyton are technically free agents entering this offseason, but given that the Chargers boast the sixth-highest cap space among NFL teams, the team could certainly…read more

Catches three passes in win
Palmer secured three of five targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 34-13 win over the Broncos.
Analysis: Palmer split the Chargers' No. 3 receiver role with Jalen Guyton, as Mike Williams (illness) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list ahead of the contest. Palmer played 31 of the team's 67 offensive snaps, one fewer than Guyton. With Keenan Allen and Williams both appearing healthy ahead of a Week 18 matchup with the Raiders, Palmer can't be counted on to fill a significant role in Los Angeles' passing attack in the regular-season finale.

Likely headed for smaller role
Palmer is expected to share the Chargers' No. 3 receiver role with Jalen Guyton in Sunday's game against the Broncos after both Guyton and Mike Williams were activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list earlier this week, Gavino Borquez of USA Today reports.
Analysis: While both Williams and Guyton were on the list last week, Palmer stepped in as the No. 2 wideout behind Keenan Allen and played a whopping 98 percent of the Chargers' offensive snaps and finished with a 5-43-1 receiving line on six targets in a 41-29 loss to the Texans. Finds end zone in expanded role
Palmer recorded five receptions on six targets for 43 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 41-29 loss to the Texans.
Analysis: Palmer ascended into the second wide-receiver role in the absence of Mike Williams (undisclosed) and Jalen Guyton (illness), and he was surpassed by only Justin Jackson in receiving production. He was involved early, picking up three receptions for 34 yards by the end of two quarters. Set for No. 2 role
Palmer is expected to be the No. 2 wide receiver for the Chargers entering Sunday's contest with both Mike Williams and Jalen Guyton on the reserve/COVID-19 list, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: It'll be interesting to see how the Chargers offense operates with both Keenan Allen and Palmer as the primary options on the field given the two generally tend to run the same routes, but given the lack of available weapons overall Sunday it might simply be a matter of talent trying to overcome scheme deficiencies. One catch Thursday
Palmer caught his lone target for 15 yards in Thursday's 34-28 loss to the Chiefs.
Analysis: The return of Keenan Allen from COVID-19 protocols predictably moved Palmer back to an afterthought as the rookie wideout saw just 41 percent of Thursday's offensive snaps. The 22-year-old has at least seen his offensive role grow throughout the season, playing at least 20 offensive snaps for the fifth consecutive game after going over that threshold just once through Week 10, but the incremental rise in playing time hasn't done much for his fantasy value. Palmer caught five passes for 66 yards and one touchdown on seven targets against the Giants on Sunday.
Analysis: Palmer led the Chargers with seven targets against the Giants, stepping up in place of usual lead target Keenan Allen, who was out due to COVID protocols. Palmer appeared to be Allen's main backup throughout the year, and this game both confirms that status and Palmer's readiness to step up in instances during which Allen is out. Palmer will likely revert to the WR4 role once Allen returns to the field, and Allen is expected to play against the Chiefs in Week 15.

Can't gather only target
Palmer failed to catch his only target in Sunday's 41-22 win over the Bengals.
Analysis: Palmer saw a slip in snap time as Mike Williams and Jalen Guyton took charge. The rookie's lone target was simply a dropped deep pass which slipped off his hands and somehow landed in the cornerback's arm for Justin Herbert's lone interception. Snares two catches
Palmer caught both of his targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 28-13 loss to the Broncos.
Analysis: The rookie saw his second-most snaps this season, but the extra workload once again didn't translate to much. Favorable passing game scripts could force Palmer onto the field more as the season progresses, but he's far behind the more efficient targets heavily utilized by the Chargers.

Only one catch
Palmer caught his only target for 17 yards in the 41-37 win over the Steelers on Sunday.
Analysis: After going two straight games with at least two catches, Palmer was limited to only one reception Sunday night. The 22-year-old's snap share was down from last week as he was only on the field for 30 percent of snaps, a bit less than Jalen Guyton. With the high volume of passes that go to Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, Palmer's fantasy value is significantly minimized.

Analysis: Palmer caught a season-high three passes against the Vikings on Sunday. Palmer has only seen 17 targets on the year, but this game marks an uptick in usage for the 2021 third-round pick. Two catches in road win
Palmer caught both of his targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Eagles.
Analysis: Palmer continues to have a small role in the Chargers' explosive offense, extending his streak of at least one catch to four games. The rookie wideout saw an uptick in playing time as he was on the field for 30 percent of the offensive snaps, a major increase from Week 8 where he was only on the field for 13 percent. First career touchdown
Palmer caught his lone target for 24 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Patriots.
Analysis: Palmer's score game on a junk-time drive, but it was an impressive catch nevertheless as the 2021 third-round pick plucked the ball away from two defenders on an underthrown pass. The rookie has rarely been used this season, ceding the majority of the playing time to Keenan Allen, Mike Williams and Jalen Guyton.

Hardly relevant in win
Palmer caught two of his three targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 47-42 win over the Browns.
Analysis: Palmer played 16 offensive snaps but was once again relegated to offensive afterthought. Mundane figures again
Palmer caught two targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Cowboys.
Analysis: Palmer at least saw his opportunities line up with No. 3 wideout Jalen Guyton (two catches, 13 yards), but it's fair to say the third-round rookie hasn't wowed over the first two weeks. Don't anticipate a change in his fantasy value unless an injury shakes up the top of the depth chart.

Not No. 3 wideout just yet
Palmer caught his lone target for 17 yards in Sunday's 20-16 win over Washington.
Analysis: Two weeks after reportedly beating out Tyron Johnson for the Chargers' No. 3 wideout role, Palmer saw just 14 offensive snaps compared to Jaylen Guyton's 53. The team could have simply been easing the rookie into his first professional game, but the difference in snaps is jarring given how strong the 2021 third-rounder's training camp supposedly was. Palmer's playing time likely will increase as the season progresses, but for the moment he's safely off the radar, even in deeper fantasy formats.

Locked in No. 3 role
Palmer secured the Chargers' No. 3 receiver role after the team waived Tyron Johnson on Tuesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Given the big-play ability Johnson's displayed last season, the Chargers' decision to cut him is somewhat surprising. Jalen Guyton (leg) is still around as a downfield option -- a useful asset to have considering the team's top two wideouts, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, are far from burners -- but it's clear the Chargers like Palmer as an intermediate threat. The rookie's role in what should be an explosive offense will be something to monitor in the team's opener Sept. 12 against Washington.

Analysis: The rookie third-round pick enjoyed a productive showing by preseason standards, checking in third on the night in receptions, receiving yards and targets.
