Part of smothering defense
Pitre logged six tackles and an interception in Sunday's 20-10 win over Kansas City in Week 14.
Analysis: Pitre was prominent in the game which was dominated by Houston's defense. He was part of an effort that limited Travis Kelce (one catch, five targets, eight yards), who was a big reason why the Texans' 2024 season ended in the playoffs. Pitre also had the signature play of the game when he blew up Rashee Rice late in the third quarter. The cornerback followed that with an interception in the fourth quarter, one of three picks thrown by Kanas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Since returning…read more

Returning Week 13
Head coach DeMeco Ryans confirmed Friday that Pitre has cleared concussion protocol and will play in Sunday's matchup against the Colts, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Pitre had missed the Texans' last three games after sustaining a concussion in the Week 9 loss to the Broncos. The fourth-year pro is an integral part of Houston's defense, recording 46 total tackles and five passes defensed, including three interceptions, across just eight appearances this season. Now fully healthy, he's expected to play as the Texans' top slot defender in Sunday's divisional clash.

Coach DeMeco Ryans said Pitre (concussion) will not play in Thursday night's game against the Bills, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Pitre will miss his third straight contest due to the concussion, and the short week didn't help, as Ryans noted it wasn't enough time for Pitre to clear the protocol. Myles Bryant should again handle an expanded role in the Texans' secondary Thursday night.

Estimated as limited Monday
The Texans listed Pitre (concussion) as a limited practice participant on Monday's estimated report.
Analysis: Pitre has missed the Texans' last two games while in the league's concussion protocol. Even if he were to log a full practice over the next two days, he would have to pass an evaluation by an independent neurologist in order to be cleared to play against the Bills on Thursday. Myles Bryant will continue to operate in an expanded role in the Texans' secondary if Pitre is not cleared to play Week 12.

Remaining in concussion protocol
Pitre (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Tennessee.
Analysis: Pitre entered the league's concussion protocol following the Texans' Week 9 loss to the Broncos. He hasn't been able to practice since, and he'll miss a second consecutive game as a result. Pitre's absence means Myles Bryant will continue to work in a meaningful role in the Texans' secondary.

Doesn't practice Wednesday
Pitre (concussion) did not practice Wednesday.
Analysis: Pitre was unable to play against the Jaguars in Week 10 while in the league's concussion protocol. He'll have two more chances to return to practice, but he'll need to pass an evaluation from an independent neurologist in order to be cleared to play against the Titans on Sunday. Myles Bryant stepped into a prominent role on defense during the Texans' Week 9 over the Jaguars, and he would continue to see an elevated snap count as long as Pitre is sidelined.

Ruled out for Week 10
Pitre (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
Analysis: Pitre was unable to practice during Week 10 prep while in the league's concussion protocol and won't play in Sunday's AFC South tilt against Jacksonville. Alijah Huzzie was waived by the Texans on Thursday, so Tremon Smith could see more snaps at slot corner in Pitre's absence.

Sits out practice
Pitre (concussion) didn't participate in Houston's practice Wednesday.
Analysis: Pitre seemingly suffered a concussion during the team's Week 9 loss to Denver. The 26-year-old will have to clear the league's concussion protocol before he's eligible to return to the field. If Pitre can't play in Sunday's matchup against the Jaguars, Alijah Huzzie would likely serve as the team's starting slot corner in his place.

Pitre (foot) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
Analysis: A foot injury limited Pitre's participation in Wednesday's practice, but his ability to practice in full Thursday indicates that he will be good to go for Sunday's game against the Broncos. Nursing foot issue
Pitre (foot) was a limited participant at practice Wednesday.

Pitre had three tackles and three defensed passes, including one interception, in Sunday's 17-10 loss to Jacksonville.
Analysis: Pitre followed the eyes of Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and stepped in front of the receiver for a potential momentum-shifting interception in the fourth quarter. To that point, Houston's offense sputtered, but one play later, C.J. Stroud found Nico Collins for a 50-yard touchdown strike to knot the game at 10-10. Forces key fumble in win
Pitre recorded nine tackles (four solo) and a forced fumble during Monday's 34-10 win at Dallas.
Analysis: Pitre came flying from the defensive backfield on a chaotic play early in the fourth quarter, smashing into left tackle Tyler Guyton as he tried to advance a Cooper Rush fumble. Guyton then became the second Dallas player to fumble that down, allowing defensive lineman Derek Barnett to scoop up the ball and run 28 yards into the end zone to make the score 27-10. Pitre made four tackles, including one for a loss, and had an interception in Sunday's 23-20 win over Indianapolis in Week 8.

The pick six was set up by defensive end Derek Barnett, who had Jones in his clutches as the ball was thrown. Fewer tackles in second season
Pitre had 84 tackles, five passes defensed, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery over 15 regular season games in 2023.
Analysis: Pitre had to adjust to new coaches and a new scheme in 2023 and didn't come near the 147 tackles he recorded as a rookie in 2022. He was even benched during the second half of the Texans' Week 16 game against the Browns. Extremely productive in loss
Pitre recorded 16 tackles (nine solo) and one interception in Sunday's 27-14 loss to the Browns.
Analysis: Pitre finished with nine more stops than the Texans' second-leading tackler Christian Kirksey. The starting safety had seen his playing time take a slight dip over the last six games, though he played every defensive snap for the first time since Week 5. Pitre is now just eight stops shy of reaching 100 tackles in his rookie season, and he should have a good chance to reach this mark if Houston's offense is unable to keep its defense off the field against Dallas in Week 14.

Seven stops Sunday
Pitre recorded seven solo tackles and one pass defended during Sunday's 30-15 loss to the Dolphins.
Analysis: Pitre tied linebacker Christian Kirksey for a team lead in tackles despite posting a relatively moderate seven stops against the Dolphins' high-flying offense. The safety also continued to play the bulk of Houston's defensive snaps (88 percent), and he did notch his third pass defended of the season. Pitre has now recorded 38 tackles since falling out of an every-down role Week 7, and he should continue to see consistent playing time against Cleveland next Sunday.

Two picks Week 3
Pitre had eight tackles, a sack and two interceptions in Sunday's 23-20 loss to Chicago in Week 3.
Analysis: Pitre has made in impact just three games into his NFL career. The two interceptions were the first of his career and the sack forced a punt, giving Houston a chance to take the lead in the fourth quarter. The Texans did not take advantage of any of Pitre's disruptive plays, but they appear to have found a gem in the second round of the 2022 draft.

Working with the ones
Pitre has been practicing with the top defensive unit early in camp, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Pitre put on a show Friday, lunging for a tipped pass to record his first interception of camp. Houston head coach Lovie Smith said the No. 37 overall pick in the 2022 draft is blending in and then offered conflicting statements about the rookie's role, referring to Pitre as "one of our starting safeties" before telling reporters he isn't "giving out any starting spots." It sounds like Smith wants Pitre to start and will evaluate his progress throughout the preseason before committing to him as…read more
