Placed on IR
Jones (hamstring) was placed on the Patriots' injured reserve Saturday, Evan Lazar of the team's official website reports.
Analysis: No surprise here, as Jones' hamstring injury was expected to keep him sidelined a couple weeks. His placement on IR means he will now have to sit out at least four weeks, so the earliest he can return is Week 5.

Out multiple games
Jones (hamstring) has already been ruled out for Week 1 and is expected to be sidelined multiple games, Jeff Howe of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Given the expectation of multiple games missed, a trip to injured reserve is a possible outcome for Jones. When healthy, he is projected to provide depth at corner as well as contribute on special teams for New England.

Ruled out for Week 1
Jones (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's opener against the Eagles, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official website reports.
Analysis: Jones was limited Wednesday but downgraded to DNP for Thursday's practice and needs further testing on the injured hammy. Marcus Jones and Shaun Wade will need to pick up the slack behind first-round rookie Christian Gonzalez and Jonathan Jones at cornerback.

Needs further testing on hamstring
Jones (hamstring) was unable to practice Thursday or Friday and is scheduled to undergo additional testing, putting his status for Sunday's season opener against the Eagles in doubt, Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald reports.
Analysis: Coach Bill Belichick was optimistic about Jones' availability Wednesday, but he acknowledged Friday that those expectations have changed with Jones unable to practice the past two days and set for follow-up tests on the hamstring injury he suffered Wednesday. Jones had also been dealing with gun charges stemming from an arrest in June, but those were dropped Tuesday and aren't expected to affect the cornerback's availability.

Likely to play Week 1
Head coach Bill Belichick said Wednesday that Jones "should be available" for Sunday's game against the Eagles, Mike Kadlick of 93.7 WEEI Boston reports.
Analysis: Belichick's comments came in the wake of Jones having all of his charges dropped Tuesday in relation to his mid-June arrest at Logan International Airport. The second-year cornerback could still face discipline from the league, but with no announcement of a potential suspension imminent at this time, Jones looks in the clear to suit up in the season opener.

Charges dropped
Jones, who was arrested in mid-June while carrying two firearms, had all charges dropped by the Suffolk County District Attorney on Tuesday, Chris Mason of The Springfield Republican reports.
Analysis: Per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Jones agreed to serve 40 hours of community service with inner-city youth for the charges to be dropped. The Patriots won't release an official statement Tuesday, but head coach Bill Belichick is scheduled to speak with the media Wednesday. Earlier in training camp, Belichick said Jones, who recorded 30 tackles and two interceptions as a rookie in 2022, would be competing for a starting role after the addition of first-round pick Christian Gonzalez.

In line to practice
Jones is slated to practice with the Patriots at the start of training camp, ESPN's Mike Reiss reports.
Analysis: "Jack will be out there," coach Bill Belichick noted of the cornerback, who last month pleaded not guilty to gun charges stemming from a June incident at Boston's Logan Airport. "It's a legal situation that I can't comment on that is ongoing," Belichick added. The 2022 fourth-rounder -- who recorded 30 tackles and two interception in 13 games last year -- is expected to compete for a starting role in his second NFL campaign.

Arrested on weapons charges
Jones was arrested Friday after two firearms were found in his travel luggage at Logan International Airport in Boston, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The Patriots announced in a statement that they are aware of the 25-year-old's arrest and are in the process of gathering more information surrounding the incident. Jones, a 2022 fourth-round pick out of Arizona State, is scheduled for arraignment next week in East Boston District Court and faces charges of possession of a concealed weapon in a secure area of the airport, possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card, unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm…read more

Participates in OTAs
Jones (knee) has been participating the Patriots' OTAs, Chris Mason of MassLive reports.
Analysis: Per the report, Jones, who suffered a bone bruise in his right knee back in December, got "a lot of run" at boundary cornerback as the Patriots held their first open session of the spring. The 25-year-old logged 30 tackles (25 solo) and two interceptions in 13 games last season and will now compete for playing time in what's become a crowded secondary.

Suspension lifted
The Patriots ended the team-imposed suspension for Jones (knee) on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Analysis: Jones will now move from the reserve/suspended list back to IR following this suspension for a violation of team rules. The rookie cornerback is still recovering from a bone bruise in his left knee sustained Week 14. Jones will now look to get healthy again heading into the offseason after New England was eliminated from playoff contention following Sunday's 35-23 loss to Buffalo.

Receives suspension
The Patriots moved Jones (knee) from injured reserve to the reserve/suspended list Friday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Jones' suspension stems from a violation of team rules, while Mike Garafolo of NFL Network relays that the cornerback's agent suggests that the suspension "appears to be based on miscommunication regarding [Jones'] rehab process." Jones concludes the 2022 season 30 tackles, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble in 13 games.

Moved to IR
The Patriots placed Jones (knee) on injured reserve Saturday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Jones suffered a bone bruise in his left knee Week 14 against the Cardinals and hasn't been able to play since. With his move to IR, he won't be able to play again this season unless New England makes the playoffs and advances to the AFC Championship Game. Jones finishes the regular season with 38 tackles (25 solo), a forced fumble and two interceptions -- including one he returned for a touchdown.

Will miss third consecutive game
Jones (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports.

Remains out Week 16
Jones (knee) has been ruled inactive for Saturday's game against the Bengals.
Analysis: Jones will miss his second consecutive game after suffering a bone bruise in left his knee during the Week 14 win over Arizona. With Jalen Mills (groin) also ruled inactive for the second game in a row, expect Jonathan Jones, Myles Bryant and Marcus Jones to serve as the top cornerbacks versus Cincinnati's talented trio of starting wideouts.

Unavailable Week 15
Jones (knee) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
Analysis: Jones will now miss his first contest of the 2022-23 campaign as a result of the bone bruise he sustained in his left knee Monday versus Arizona. With Jalen Mills (groin) also ruled out, Jonathan Jones, Myles Bryant and Marcus Jones should operate as New England's top cornerbacks in Week 15.

Listed as questionable
The Patriots have listed Jones (knee) as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Raiders, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: After not practicing earlier in the week, Jones logged a limited workload Friday. While that is a step in the right direction, his status against the Patriots will depend on how he feels closer to kickoff. Myles Bryant, Marcus Jones and Shaun Wade would all be candidates for increased snaps should he ultimately have to sit out.

Dealing with bone bruise
Jones said postgame that he was forced out of Monday's 27-13 win over the Cardinals with a bone bruise in his left knee, Dakota Randall of NESN.com reports.
Analysis: Jones was not able to return following the opening series of the game, and he was seen with a sleeve on his left leg while moving with a limp, per Randall. However, the rookie cornerback expressed optimism that he would still be available to play Week 15 against Las Vegas, per Randall. Jones quickly stepped up into a prominent role in the Patriots' defense, recording 30 tackles, five passes defended and two interceptions, including a pick-six. Therefore, his potential absence would definitely…read more

Won't return versus Arizona
Jones (knee) was downgraded out for the remainder of Monday's game against the Cardinals.
Analysis: While the exact nature of Jones' knee injury is still unclear, it will keep him from returning for the remainder of Monday's contest. His next chance to play will come against the Raiders on Sunday, Dec. 18. With Jones out, New England will be left with four available cornerbacks against Cardinals quarterback Colt McCoy, who stepped in after starter Kyler Murray was forced out with a knee injury in the first quarter.

Questionable to return Monday
Jones is questionable to return to Monday's game against the Cardinals with a knee injury.
Analysis: Jones was examined in the Patriots' medical tent during the first quarter, and he continued to have his knee worked on after he emerged on the Patriots' sideline, according to Chris Mason of The Springfield Republican. With fellow starting cornerback Jalen Mills (groin) already inactive, Myles Bryant and Marcus Jones will be left to step into bigger roles alongside Jonathan Jones.

Second straight week with a pick
Jones recorded three tackles, one interception and two passes defensed during Sunday's 29-0 win over the Lions.
Analysis: Jones intercepted a pass with 5:38 left in the first quarter during Sunday's contest versus Detroit, contributing to his current total of 12 tackles, two interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery through the first five games of his rookie campaign. Fellow cornerback Jonathan Jones appeared to have suffered an unspecified ankle injury in Week 5, so Jack Jones, Jalen Mills and Marcus Jones could see additional usage Sunday in Cleveland should Jonathan Jones eventually be ruled out.

Forces two takeaways Sunday
Jones totaled seven tackles (three solo), a pick-six, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery during the Patriots' 27-24 overtime loss to the Packers on Sunday.
Analysis: Jones drew his first career start Sunday, and he was responsible for two takeaways during the narrow loss. He recovered a fumble that he forced in the first quarter before returning an interception for a touchdown just before halftime. The interception was the first of Jones' career, and it marked just the fourth time that Aaron Rodgers has had one of his interceptions returned for a touchdown. It's possible that Jones sees a decreased role once Jalen Mills (hamstring) is cleared to return, but…read more
