Will play vs. Cardinals
Austin (ankle) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game versus the Cardinals, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: After he missed practice Wednesday, Austin was able to return in a limited capacity Thursday before upgrading to full participation Friday ahead of the Steelers' game in Week 13. The 2022 fourth-rounder probably won't see any target volume Sunday as long as George Pickens, Diontae Johnson and Allen Robinson remain available.

Ramps up activity
Austin (ankle) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Austin logged a DNP on Wednesday, so this is a step in the right direction for the second-year pro. If he can get in a full practice Friday he'll likely avoid an injury designation for a Week 13 matchup with the Cardinals. However, if he remains limited, expect him to head into Sunday with a questionable tag.

Not ready to practice Wednesday
Austin (ankle) didn't participate in practice Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Austin sustained the ankle injury in Sunday's 16-10 win over the Bengals and isn't yet healthy enough to return to the field as the Steelers kick off Week 13 prep. He'll still have Thursday and Friday to fit in some practice reps before the Steelers potentially hand him a designation for this Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

Injures ankle in win
Head coach Mike Tomlin noted after Sunday's 16-10 win over the Bengals that Austin sustained an ankle injury late in the game, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.
Analysis: Tomlin didn't provide any other update on the severity of Austin's injury, so his practice participation leading up to Week 13 against the Cardinals should indicate whether he'll miss time. Austin caught his lone target for five yards in Sunday's win.

Two touches in Week 10
Austin secured his lone target for three yards while rushing once for six yards during the Steelers' 23-19 win over the Packers on Sunday.
Analysis: Austin has recorded at least one rushing attempt in four consecutive games, but his fantasy impact has still been limited. Over his four appearances since the Steelers' Week 6 bye, he's secured three of four targets for 22 yards while rushing six times for 27 yards. Unless several of Pittsburgh's receivers deal with injuries at some point, Austin doesn't have much fantasy relevance.

Logs 10 rushing yards
Austin failed to secure his lone target while rushing twice for 10 yards during the Steelers' 20-16 win over the Titans on Thursday.
Analysis: Austin's snap count remained consistent in Week 9, and he rushed multiple times for a second consecutive week. The 2022 fourth-rounder showed some glimpses of promise earlier this year but has been limited since the team's Week 6 bye, securing two of three targets for 19 yards while rushing five times for 21 yards over the last three matchups.

Limited production Sunday
Austin secured both of his targets for 19 yards while rushing twice for 10 yards during the Steelers' 20-10 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday.
Analysis: Austin saw slightly more playing time Sunday with 16 offensive snaps after being on the field for just seven last week. He tied his second-highest total of the season with four touches, but he was unable to generate much yardage in the defeat. The 2022 fourth-rounder has secured 14 of 24 targets for 162 yards and a touchdown while rushing five times for 14 yards over the first seven games of the season.

Plays seven offensive snaps
Austin rushed once for one yard during the Steelers' 24-17 win over the Rams on Sunday.
Analysis: Austin scored his first career touchdown via a long reception against the Raiders in Week 3, but his workload has dropped off over the last few games. He's been targeted just once over the last two matchups and played a season-low seven snaps Sunday with Diontae Johnson back in action. As long as the Steelers' other receivers remain healthy, Austin is unlikely to be a reliable fantasy option.

No receptions in win
Austin failed to secure his lone target during the Steelers' 17-10 win over the Ravens on Sunday.
Analysis: Austin was held without a catch for the first time this season during the Steelers' Week 5 win, but he saw a slight decrease in playing time since he was evaluated for a concussion during the game before being cleared to return. The 2022 fourth-rounder had an encouraging Week 3 performance by securing two of six targets for 72 yards and a touchdown, but he's had limited fantasy value in his other appearances this year.

Tallies three catches in loss
Austin secured three of five targets for 24 yards while rushing once for five yards during the Steelers' 30-6 loss to the Texans on Sunday.
Analysis: Austin racked up 72 yards last week, fueled by a long touchdown reception, but he was unable to generate as much production in Week 4 as the Steelers' offense sputtered once again early in the year. While Diontae Johnson (hamstring) remains on injured reserve, Austin's outlook over the next few weeks could be impacted since Mitch Trubisky will likely be taking snaps under center with Kenny Pickett (knee) expected to miss time. Austin has seen at least four targets in every game so far this…read more

Finds end zone vs. Las Vegas
Austin secured two of six targets for 72 yards and a touchdown during the Steelers' 23-18 win over the Raiders on Sunday.
Analysis: The Steelers' offense has struggled to put together big plays early in the 2023 campaign, but Austin had the longest play of Sunday's primetime matchup with his 72-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter. With Diontae Johnson (hamstring) out once again, Austin saw elevated playing time for a second consecutive week while playing in 73 percent of the team's offensive snaps. Targeted four times on MNF
Austin secured one of four targets for 10 yards while rushing once for minus-two yards during the Steelers' 26-22 win over the Browns on Monday.
Analysis: Pittsburgh's offense struggled to generate much production once again Monday, and Austin was held in check even though Diontae Johnson (hamstring) was unavailable. However, Austin saw an increased snap count in the narrow win, playing 76 percent of the team's offensive snaps after playing 56 percent in Week 1. Austin's playing time should remain elevated over the next few weeks since Johnson is on injured reserve, but Monday's performance showed that his increased snaps won't necessarily…read more

Should see added opportunities
With Diontae Johnson expected to miss time with a hamstring injury, Austin is on track to see increased opportunities in the Steelers' passing game, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: It remains to be seen how long Johnson will be sidelined, but he's not expected to play Monday night against the Browns, at a minimum. In that context, Austin has a chance to yield fantasy utility in deeper formats, while seeing an increased profile in a WR corps that also includes George Pickens and Allen Robinson. In the Steelers' Week 1 loss to the 49ers, Austin logged 35 snaps (Johnson saw 27 snaps prior to being injured) en route to catching all six of his targets for 37 yards.

Tallies six receptions in Week 1
Austin secured all six of his targets for 37 yards during the Steelers' 30-7 loss to the 49ers on Sunday. He also returned one punt for two yards.
Analysis: Austin led the Steelers' pass catchers in receptions during Sunday's blowout loss, but it's worth noting that three of his catches came in the fourth quarter, after Diontae Johnson (hamstring) was ruled out for the remainder of the game. While Austin's workload was encouraging in Sunday's regular-season opener, his role going forward will likely depend on whether Johnson is forced to miss additional time.

Set for key role
Austin likely will be the Steelers' top return man this season and may also have a role on offense, Dave Bryan of Steelers Depot reports.
Analysis: The 2022 fourth-round pick had a strong, well-rounded preseason, posting a 4-93-1 receiving line and taking five punt returns for 107 yards. Austin can also handle kick returns and will probably get a few carries on end-arounds or jet sweeps, but he's unlikely to play a large number of snaps on offense when Diontae Johnson, George Pickens and Allen Robinson all are healthy -- as is the case heading into Week 1 against the 49ers.

Makes big splash in NFL debut
Austin caught two of four targets for 73 yards and a touchdown while adding 23 rushing yards on two carries in Friday's preseason win over Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Austin stole the show in the second half of Friday's exhibition win when he burned his assignee on a streak that Mason Rudolph hit him in stride with for a 67-yard touchdown. Austin, a 2022 fourth-round selection, missed his entire rookie year due to injury, but he finally got to make a healthy impression on the league. Austin is currently vying for the third spot behind starting wideouts Diontae Johnson and George Pickens on the depth chart, so Friday's big game should help his chances ahead…read more

Impressing as camp progresses
Austin has made several big plays while showing continual improvement over the first few weeks of training camp, Matthew Marczi of SteelersDepot.com reports.
Analysis: Austin looked shaky during Pittsburgh's first practice of training camp but has shown continuous improvement in subsequent practices. Despite missing his entire rookie season in 2022 due to a foot injury, he's put his speed on full display during camp his second training camp. Austin is firmly behind Deontae Johnson and George Pickens on the team's depth chart at receiver but should have an opportunity to carve out a role within the offense, especially if new acquisition Allen Robinson…read more

Competing for slot role
Austin is competing to serve as the Steelers' slot receiver during OTAs, Mark Kaboly of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Austin missed his entire rookie campaign due to a foot injury, but he appears to be healthy this spring. The Steelers acquired Allen Robinson earlier in the offseason, but Austin still appears to be firmly in the mix for the team's slot role ahead of the 2023 season. The 24-year-old topped 1,000 receiving yards in his final two collegiate seasons at Memphis, totaling 137 receptions for 2,202 yards and 19 touchdowns during that time.

Done for season
Pittsburgh announced Wednesday that Austin (foot) will remain on injured reserve for the rest of the season, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Austin is ineligible to play in 2022 after his 21-day practice evaluation window came to a close without Pittsburgh activating him from IR and adding him to the 53-man roster. The rookie fourth-round pick returned to practice in early October after missing August and September with a foot injury, but the Steelers apparently decided that Austin won't help them this season. He should have plenty of time to get back to full strength before the offseason program next spring.

Will practice this week
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Austin (foot) will resume practicing Wednesday, starting his 21-day window to return from injured reserve, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Austin didn't play during the preseason due to a foot injury and started the regular season on IR. It's encouraging to see him in line to practice at the earliest possible time, but it remains unclear when he'll be ready for game action. When available, he'll likely slot in behind Diontae Johnson, Chase Claypool and fellow rookie George Pickens. However, with Kenny Pickett taking over as the primary signal caller, the target share of the aforementioned wideouts becomes a lot less certain.

Out at least four weeks
The Steelers placed Austin (foot) on injured reserve Thursday.
Analysis: Austin sat out the preseason due to a foot injury, and he will now be required to miss at least the first four weeks of the regular season as well. That makes the rookie fourth-round pick's first possible return date Oct. 9 versus Buffalo on the road.

Feeling good, to be ready soon
Austin (foot) said Monday that he's "feeling great" and is just "waiting for coach [Mike] Tomlin's word" to return to practice, Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: It sounds like the rookie hopes to play in Pittsburgh's preseason finale Sunday against Detroit after missing the first two exhibitions. Austin isn't likely to get many snaps Week 1 but still could make a bid for the No. 4 receiver spot behind Diontae Johnson, Chase Claypool and George Pickens.

Out again
Austin (foot) isn't in uniform for Saturday's exhibition with Jacksonville, Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Analysis: The rookie fourth-round pick missed Pittsburgh's preseason opener with a foot injury. He was spotted with a walking boot thereafter and hasn't yet returned to practice.

Using walking boot
Austin has a walking boot on his injured left foot, Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Analysis: With Anthony Miller (shoulder) out for the season and a number of other wide receivers banged up, Pittsburgh enters Week 2 of the preseason looking awfully thin at the position. Austin doesn't seem likely to play this Sunday against Jacksonville, though it isn't yet clear how serious his foot injury might be. The rookie fourth-round pick should be in the mix for the fourth or fifth WR spot behind Diontae Johnson (hip), Chase Claypool (shoulder) and fellow rookie George Pickens.

Dealing with foot issue
Coach Mike Tomlin said Austin didn't play in Saturday's preseason win versus the Seahawks due to a foot injury, Adam H. Beasley of Pro Football Network reports.
Analysis: The Steelers' top wide receiver duo of Diontae Johnson (hip) and Chase Claypool (shoulder) didn't suit up due to their injuries, and Austin and Anthony Miller (shoulder) joined them on the sideline. Tomlin told Teresa Varley of the team's official site that Austin picked up his issue at practice Friday, but he expects to have the rookie fourth-round pick "get back to us sooner rather than later." Whether or not Austin progresses enough to play next Sunday in Jacksonville remains to be seen.
