Leading receiver against Cards
Hyatt caught both his targets for 89 yards in Sunday's 31-28 win over the Cardinals.
Analysis: The rookie flashed his big-play ability as he led the Giants in receiving yards, hauling in a 58-yard reception on the team's first play of the second half to kick-start a comeback from a 20-0 deficit. Hyatt failed to catch his only target in his NFL debut last week, and while he may not see big volume as part of a crowded wideout depth chart, his ability to get deep figures to be a key element of the New York passing game this season. Up next Thursday night is a Week 3 clash with a 49ers…read more

Invisible in NFL debut
Hyatt didn't catch his lone target in Sunday's Week 1 40-0 blowout loss against the Cowboys.
Analysis: The Giants drafted Hyatt in the third round of this year's draft to provide a boost to their passing game, but the team's offense struggled as a whole against Dallas' stifling defense Sunday. Hyatt was on the field for just 25 of New York's 70 offensive snaps, fourth-most among wideouts on the team behind Darius Slayton (47 snaps), Parris Campbell (47) and Isaiah Hodgins (42). It's uncertain where Hyatt stands in the pecking order, but he may struggle to produce if he's on the field less than…read more

Quiet in preseason finale
Hyatt failed to catch his lone target in Saturday's preseason loss to the Jets on Saturday.
Analysis: Hyatt put together a strong showing against the Panthers last week (4-35-1), but he failed to get involved in the Giants' final tune-up game. The rookie wideout brings tremendous speed as a slot receiver, but he may find it hard to earn snaps ahead of veteran starters Isaiah Hodgins and Darius Slayton out of the gate. Assuming he makes the final roster, Hyatt should provide depth for the Giants ahead of a Week 1 matchup against the Cowboys on Sept. 10.

Gets into end zone Friday
Hyatt caught four of five targets for 35 yards and a touchdown in Friday's preseason win over the Panthers.
Analysis: After a quiet preseason debut last week, the 2023 third-round pick flashed his big-play potential with a 33-yard TD reception from Tyrod Taylor in the second quarter, as Hyatt broke free of veteran cornerback Eric Rowe to get wide open in the end zone. Hyatt is in a dogfight for snaps and targets in a crowded Giants receiver room, but if he keeps making an impact, his presence could encourage starting QB Daniel Jones and coach Brian Daboll to open up the playbook and attack downfield more often…read more

Forgettable NFL debut
Hyatt caught his only target for minus-4 yards in Friday's 21-16 preseason loss to the Lions.
Analysis: Hyatt was tackled well behind the line of scrimmage on his only touch in his NFL debut. The rookie third-round pick out of Tennessee has reportedly been impressing with his speed in practice while mixing in with the starters. Perhaps Hyatt's playmaking ability will shine through more in New York's second preseason game against the Panthers.

Fine after overheating Wednesday
Hyatt is returning to practice Thursday after exiting early Wednesday due to heat exhaustion, John Fennelly of Giants Wire reports.
Analysis: He's far from the first rookie to struggle with heat and resulting fatigue during his first NFL training camp. The third-round pick still has a wide range of playing-time outcomes for his debut campaign, as the Giants' WR room offers quantity more so than quality, with up to seven or eight players potentially in the mix for top-three roles. Hyatt will probably come off the bench Week 1 but still has plenty of time to make an impression before then.

Leaves practice early
Hyatt walked off the field with trainers Wednesday after sustaining an apparent injury during 7-on-7 drills, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
Analysis: The Giants have yet to shed light on the nature or severity of Hyatt's injury. The rookie third-round pick is staring down the opportunity to compete for a significant role on offense alongside Darius Slayton or Isaiah Hodgins, but he'll first need to impress over the course of training camp and the preseason.

Healthy for spring practices
Hyatt (hamstring) did some drills at rookie minicamp but didn't participate in 7-on-7s, Paul Schwartz of the NY Post reports.
Analysis: Hyatt hurt his hamstring at the NFL Combine, but only after running a 4.40 40 time and posting a 133-inch broad jump and 40-inch vertical. The rookie third-round pick reportedly is working on gaining weight after checking in at only 176 pounds at the combine, recently noting that he's up to 180 and wants to play at about 190. Hyatt should be cleared for training camp, if not spring practices, and he could challenge Darius Slayton or Isaiah Hodgins for perimeter snaps early on.
