Analysis: The rookie third-round pick out of Texas A&M doesn't approach the season opener with an injury designation after putting in full practices Wednesday through Friday, but the Dolphins will push back his NFL debut at least one week after Achane missed extensive time in the preseason after injuring his shoulder in an Aug. 19 exhibition against the Texans. Analysis: Achane taking contact again represents a significant step forward in his recovery from a lingering shoulder injury. Analysis: On the plus side, the report notes that Achane avoided a serious injury during Saturday's preseason game against the Texans after having a defensive lineman fall on him, but at this stage it appears safe to assume that the 2023 third-rounder won't play in this weekend's preseason finale against the Jaguars. Coach Mike McDaniel confirmed that Achane sustained a shoulder injury during Saturday's preseason game against the Texans, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: Per Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins expect to find out more about the running back's injury Sunday, but at a minimum Achane's status for the team's preseason finale is unclear. Prior to his injury, the 2023 third-rounder logged six carries for 27 yards.

Carted off the field Saturday

Achane (undisclosed) was carted to the locker room during Saturday's preseason game against the Texans, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.

Analysis: Prior to that, Achane had logged six carries for 27 yards. Per Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com, Achane left the field under his own power, but was clearly in pain with what could be a possible shoulder issue.

Makes impact as receiver

Achane carried the ball 10 times for 25 yards and caught all four of his targets for 41 yards in Friday's preseason loss to the Falcons. He also gained 38 yards on one kickoff return.

Analysis: The 2023 third-round pick flashed his elite speed and elusiveness on the opening kickoff, but Achane then had to watch veteran Myles Gaskin handle the lead role in the backfield into the second quarter. When he finally began to mix into the offense, Achane struggled on the ground, with his longest run going for only six yards, but he wound up leading Miami in catches and receiving yards. Analysis: Achane missed a few days of practice due to an undisclosed injury sustained Saturday, but he was back on the field in full uniform a couple days later. The undersized rookie has made a handful of highlight plays in training camp already, so it will be interesting to see what he's able to accomplish in preseason action. His first chance could come as early as Friday's contest against Atlanta.
