Reaches injury settlement
The Bills have reached an injury settlement with Claypool (toe), Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Analysis: The Bills placed Claypool on injured reserve Tuesday, but following Thursday's injury settlement, the veteran wideout is now free to catch on elsewhere once he's past a toe issue that he sustained July 28. Unless he ends up in an ideal situation, however, the 2020 second-rounder seems unlikely to make much of a fantasy impact early on this season.

Placed on IR
The Bills placed Claypool (toe) on injured reserve Tuesday.
Analysis: Claypool won't be able to play this season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the Bills at some point and then becomes a free agent. He injured his toe July 28 and hasn't practiced since, leaving Mack Hollins and Marquez Valdes-Scantling as the veteran favorites for depth roles at wide receiver in Buffalo.

Toe injury lingers
Claypool is still being evaluated for a toe injury, Alec White of the Bills' official site reports.
Analysis: Claypool has now missed over a week of practices, and his status for Saturday's preseason opener against the Bears is in question. The Bills signed the 2020 second-rounder this offseason as a high-upside dart to fill out their receiving room, but right now Claypool is no certainty to even make the Week 1 roster, which is in a huge state of flux after a top three of Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman and Curtis Samuel.

Progressing toward practice
Claypool (toe) did side work with trainers during Sunday's practice, Alex Brasky of the Batavia Daily News reports.
Analysis: Claypool has now missed a full week of practice but seems to be progressing toward a return. He's more likely to be left off the 53-man roster than earn regular playing time at wide receiver, but the 26-year-old could get a chance down the road this season if he manages to stick around beyond August.

Another missed practice
Claypool missed Tuesday's practice due to a toe injury, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
Analysis: The free-agent signee suffered the injury Sunday. While it isn't expected to be a long-term issue, Claypool is on the roster bubble, so any missed time could end up costing him as he takes aim at one of the Bills' final receiver spots.

Viewed as day-to-day
Claypool is considered day-to-day with a toe issue, Sal Maioranaof the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Claypool sustained his toe injury Sunday, but he isn't expected to be out for long. Once he's able to return to practice, Claypool will resume competing for slotting in a re-tooled Bills wideout corps that also includes Khalil Shakir, Curtis Samuel, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Mack Hollins and rookie Keon Coleman.

Hurt during practice Sunday
Claypool appeared to injure his left leg while practicing Sunday, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Fitzgerald indicated that the wideout looked to be in "a good bit of pain" and hobbled after the play before being looked at by trainers. An update on Claypool's status may come following Buffalo's practice Sunday. Being able to participate during training camp could be critical for Claypool, as he is jostling for placement on the team's WR depth chart with the likes of Curtis Samuel, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Mack Hollins and rookie Keon Coleman.

Shines at OTAs
Claypool has been the Bills' "most consistent" wide receiver at OTAs, according to Matt Parrino of The Syracuse Post-Standard.
Analysis: It's perhaps not surprising that a 6-foot-4 wideout with 4.42 speed and ample NFL experience looks good in non-contact practices, but it's nonetheless interesting to hear the word 'consistent' used in conjunction with Claypool. He fell out of favor with the Steelers in 2022 and the Bears in 2023, and while Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel complimented him on multiple occasions, Claypool caught only four passes in nine games after a trade to Miami last October. He'll turn 26 in July and has an…read more

New competition in WR room
Claypool will have more competition for a roster spot after the Bills signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling to a one-year deal Tuesday.
Analysis: The Bills seem to be signing as many journeymen wideouts with proven upside as they can this offseason, and seeing who can stick alongside highly touted rookie Keon Coleman and third-year man Khalil Shakir. For now, it looks like MVS, Claypool, Curtis Samuel and Mack Hollins will battle for roster spots and positioning on the depth chart.

Links up with Buffalo
Claypool is signing a one-year contract with the Bills, Jonathan Jones of CBSSports.com reports.
Analysis: Unable to make an impact in Chicago or Miami last season, Claypool now heads to his fourth NFL team for his fifth year in the league. It's about as good of a locale as he could've hoped for, as the Bills have a strong-armed franchise QB and questionable depth at WR. Claypool could perhaps serve as a deep threat off the bench even if his days as a starter are numbered.

Free agency looms
Claypool secured four of seven targets for 26 yards across nine appearances with the Dolphins during the 2023 regular season. He also secured four of 14 targets for 51 yards and one score across four games with the Bears.
Analysis: Claypool is coming off a disastrous 2023 campaign, having failed to put anything of note together with Miami after an early season trade out of Chicago. He did contribute on special teams for 102 snaps during the regular season with the Dolphins, and it's possible the team still has limited intrigue in his developmental upside, but at this stage in his career there are no guarantees Claypool draws any real interest on the free-agent market. His four-year rookie contract ends this offseason.

Can't finish on deep ball
Claypool failed to secure his only target during Sunday's 56-19 loss to the Ravens.
Analysis: Claypool was targeted in the end zone on a deep pass from Tua Tagovailoa (shoulder) late in the third quarter, but despite initially securing the ball, he wasn't able to complete a catch. Reports about Claypool's performance in practice have picked up recently, but even with Jaylen Waddle (ankle) sidelined Sunday, the four-year veteran hasn't yet managed to make a splash in a Dolphins uniform. Ready for Sunday
Claypool (knee) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Commanders, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Claypool logged a limited practice session both Wednesday and Thursday, but he was able to practice without limitations Friday, and it now seems as if he's moved past his knee issue. The 2020 second-round pick has been inactive for four of the Dolphins' seven games since getting traded to Miami, and he'll at least be available for Sunday's contest.

Still working through injury
Claypool (knee) was limited during practice Wednesday, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.

Inactive versus Jets
Claypool (knee) is inactive for Friday's game against the Jets.
Analysis: Claypool, who the Dolphins had listed as questionable for the contest, will sit out Friday after he managed nothing more than limited participation in practice this week. With just one catch for 15 yards on two targets in three games with Miami so far, the 2020 second-round draft pick is off the fantasy radar for now.

Claypool (knee) is listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Jets, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.

Remains limited
Claypool (knee) was listed as a limited participant on Thursday's practice estimate, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
Analysis: Claypool was unable to play in Week 11 and his status for Friday's game will remain in question for another day. Even if he is able to suit up against the Jets, the Notre Dame product would likely have a minimal role in the team's deep receiving corps.

Considered limited Tuesday
Claypool (knee) was listed as a limited participant on Miami's estimated injury report Tuesday, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.
Analysis: Claypool was unable to play in the team's Week 11 win over the Raiders after he underwent knee surgery during the Week 10 bye week. The wide receiver was initially considered week-to-week following the procedure and he'll look to practice in some capacity ahead of Friday's matchup with the Jets.

Claypool (knee) underwent a minor knee procedure during Miami's Week 10 bye and is considered week-to-week, per coach Mike McDaniel, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.

Claypool (knee) remained sidelined at practice Thursday, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Claypool also didn't practice Wednesday, so the wideout likely will need to work in some capacity Friday in order to have a chance to play Sunday against the Raiders. In three games with the Dolphins thus far, Claypool has just one catch for 15 yards, so until his role in the offense expands he'll be off the fantasy radar.

Doesn't practice Wednesday
Claypool didn't practice Wednesday due to a knee injury.
Analysis: Over his first three games with the Dolphins, Claypool has logged just one catch for 15 yards on two targets, so until he gets a full and productive game in, he'll be off the fantasy radar. Claypool now has two more chances to return to practice ahead of Sunday's game against the Raiders.

Not targeted in loss
Claypool was not targeted during Sunday's 21-14 loss to the Chiefs.
Analysis: Claypool has secured one catch for three yards on two targets across three appearances with the Dolphins. He did, at least, reach a new high mark with 22 percent of offensive snaps played for Miami in Week 9. During the team's upcoming bye, Claypool will have an opportunity to get more familiar with the Dolphins' scheme. His next chance to increase his involvement will come Week 11 versus the Raiders.

Targeted twice Week 8
Claypool secured one of two targets for 15 yards during Sunday's 31-17 win over the Patriots.
Analysis: Claypool split No. 3 receiver snaps with Cedrick Wilson and Braxton Berrios, though as usual it was Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle who monopolized Miami's air yards. While Claypool remains off the fantasy radar, he could have an opportunity to build on his depth role with the Dolphins if he can string together a few consistent games.

Set for debut with new team
Claypool is active for Sunday's game in Philadelphia, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Following his trade from Chicago to Miami on Oct. 6, Claypool sat out Weeks 5 and 6, likely as he grew acclimated to a new offense. With two weeks of work under his belt, he's active in favor of Robbie Chosen (coach's decision), who handled between 19 and 26 percent of the offensive snaps in the Dolphins' last three games. In three appearances with the Bears this season, Claypool recorded four catches (on 14 targets) for 51 yards and one touchdown.

Claypool (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Panthers.

Claypool (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Claypool (coach's decision) isn't expected to be active Sunday in the Dolphins' game against the Giants, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Though Claypool didn't play in the Bears' 40-20 win over the Commanders on Thursday before being dealt to Miami a day later, his lack of practice time with his new team looks as though it'll result in his Dolphins debut being delayed until Week 6. The Bears have agreed Friday to trade Claypool to the Dolphins, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Claypool, who was a healthy scratch for Chicago's win over the Commanders on Thursday night, is being traded to Miami in exchange for a 2025 swap of late-round picks, per Dianna Russini of The Athletic. The veteran wideout had clearly fallen out of favor with the Bears' coaching staff, as he racked up just four receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown on 14 targets through the Bears' first three games despite playing more than 75 percent of the offensive snaps. The wideout was a healthy scratch ahead of Sunday's 31-28 loss to Denver, two days after intimating to reporters that the Chicago coaching staff hadn't been using him correctly. Won't join team for Week 5
Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said Monday that Claypool won't be present at the team's facilities this week or available for Thursday's game against the Commanders, Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: Eberflus' comments on Claypool's status came after the wideout was a healthy inactive for Sunday's 31-28 loss to the Broncos. As Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune notes, the coach said Sunday that Claypool -- who wasn't even in attendance at Soldier Field after being told to stay home for the Week 4 game -- was expected to be back in the building for Week 5 prep, but those plans apparently changed. Officially inactive
Claypool (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Broncos.
Analysis: It was reported earlier Sunday that Claypool could lose his spot on the game-day roster, as he has both struggled to produce early this season and voiced his displeasure with his role. As a result, he'll be inactive for the first time in 2023 after playing at least 75 percent of offensive snaps in the first three games. Headed for healthy scratch Sunday
Claypool is expected to be a healthy inactive for Sunday's game against the Broncos, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: It's been a precipitous fall down the depth chart for Claypool, whom the Bears acquired from the Steelers last November for the No. 32 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. After struggling to produce for the Bears following his acquisition last season, Claypool hasn't fared much better through the first three games of the current campaign. Weak performance
Claypool caught one pass for 15 yards in the Bears' 41-10 loss to the Chiefs on Sunday.
Analysis: Claypool was second on the team with four targets, but the Chicago offense was unable to move the ball until the Chiefs brought in their defensive backups late in the game. Although Claypool has seen increased snaps since Week 1, the anemic passing game may limit his potential to have consistent production.

Surprises with solid game
Claypool caught three passes for 31 yards and a touchdown in the Bears' 27-17 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
Analysis: The Bears lost Darnell Mooney to a knee injury during the contest, and Claypool then functioned as the primary receiving complement to DJ Moore. Claypool led the team with eight targets, and he could get a chance to build on his encouraging effort if Mooney is forced to miss time.

Suiting up Week 2
Claypool is listed as active ahead of Chicago's Week 2 matchup against Tampa Bay.
Analysis: There had been some doubts about Claypool's gameday roster status following a disappointing Week 1 showing, both from an effort and overall production standpoint (he was held to zero catches on two targets despite playing 55 snaps). The Bears will ultimately give the fifth-year wideout a chance to work through these issues, but Claypool remains an incredibly risky fantasy option as the No. 3 wide receiver in a run-first Chicago offense.

Expected to play Week 2
Claypool is practicing as normal this week and is expected to play Sunday against the Bucs, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: Claypool was dreadful in the Week 1 opener versus Green Bay, parlaying 58 offensive snaps into zero catches on two targets. Coach Matt Eberflus openly admitted the team was going to look into Claypool's Week 2 role. He simply can't be trusted in fantasy lineups until further notice.

Could be headed to bench
Bears coach Matt Eberflus was non-committal Wednesday when asked whether Claypool would see a reduced role this Sunday at Tampa Bay, Chris Emma of 670TheScore.com reports. "We're looking at all possibilities right now," Eberflus said.
Analysis: Claypool struggled as a blocker and finished without a catch on two targets in Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Packers, operating as the No. 3 receiver behind DJ Moore and Darnell Mooney. The No. 3 role in a run-heavy Bears offense isn't conducive to fantasy value even if Claypool plays well in real life, which is something he arguably hasn't done since the middle part of his 2020 rookie season. Claypool (hamstring) isn't suited up for Saturday's preseason opener against the Titans, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Claypool tweaked his hamstring during practice Wednesday, and while it appears to be a minor issue, it's not surprising to see Chicago proceed with caution. Claypool is being held out of practice Wednesday with a soft-tissue injury, Mark Grote of 670TheScore.com reports.
Analysis: Claypool's absence from a few spring practices shouldn't matter so long as he's healthy for training camp this summer. He looks to be third on the depth chart at receiver behind DJ Moore and Darnell Mooney (ankle), the latter of whom has also been absent from spring practices. Disappointing season
Claypool caught two passes for 29 yards in the Bears' 29-13 loss to the Vikings in Week 18, and he ended the season with 14 receptions and 140 yards over seven games after being acquired from Pittsburgh.
Analysis: After the Bears acquired Claypool in Week 8, his best game was a 51-yard performance, but he was limited to 15 yards or fewer in four of seven contests with Chicago However, he was playing in a low-volume passing offense where very few receivers produced. Next year, he'll have a full training camp to acclimate to the offense, and he'll likely be given an opportunity to see if he can become Chicago's top receiver. Targeted once in defeat
Claypool was held without a catch in the Bears' 41-10 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
Analysis: Although Justin Fields threw 21 passes, only one of those went in Claypool's direction. He's only reached 30 yards once since Week 9, and he'll be difficult to trust in fantasy lineups in Week 18 against the Vikings.

Active for Week 17
Claypool (knee) is active for Sunday's matchup against the Lions.
Analysis: As expected, Claypool will suit up Sunday for the first time since Week 13. Before suffering the knee injury, the 2020 second-round pick totaled 21 receptions on 36 targets for 197 yards across his first seven games with Chicago. With Darnell Mooney (ankle) on injured reserve, Claypool figures to operate as the Bears' No. 1 wideout in a group that also features Equanimeous St. Brown, Byron Pringle, Velus Jones, N'Keal Harry and Dante Pettis.

Expected to play in Detroit
Claypool (knee) is expected to suit up for Sunday's divisional matchup against the Lions, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Claypool is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup, but it looks like he's trending in the right direction. An official word on Claypool's status will come prior to Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. If Claypool is indeed active, he has a reasonable path to serving as the target leader of Justin Fields' diminished receiving corps. Dante Pettis (knee) remains questionable, while Equanimeous St. Brown has cleared the concussion protocol in time to play Sunday.

Claypool (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Detroit.
Analysis: Dante Pettis (ankle) also is questionable, while Equanimeous St. Brown has been cleared from concussion protocol. If he returns this weekend, Claypool will be among the favorites to lead a receiver-depleted Bears offense in targets, though he was playing limited snaps before the knee injury and only returned to practice Thursday for the first time since Week 13 (and was limited both Thursday and Friday). Back as limited participant
Claypool (knee) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.
Analysis: After missing the last two games due to a knee injury, Claypool made his return to practice for the first time since Week 13. This marks his first visible sign of progress in his recovery effort, but it remains to be seen if he'll gain clearance to play Sunday at Detroit. Equanimeous St. Brown (concussion) also was limited Thursday, while Dante Pettis (ankle) sat out, so the Bears have a number of question marks in the receiving corps in the midst of Week 17 prep.

Claypool (knee) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Claypool has been dealing with a knee issue for the better part of the last month, and while he played Week 13 against the Packers, he's missed two straight games since the Bears' Week 14 bye. He hasn't made a noticeable step forward in his recovery from the injury, but he has two more chances to mix into drills this week before the Bears potentially make a decision on his availability for Sunday's contest at Detroit.

Claypool (knee) is officially inactive for Saturday's game against the Bills.
Analysis: Claypool was labeled doubtful after he put in only one limited practice this week, so he's unsurprisingly not available for Saturday's contest. Equanimeous St. Brown (concussion) is also sidelined, leaving Byron Pringle, Dante Pettis, Velus Jones and N'Keal Harry to operate as Chicago's primary wideouts.

Status in doubt for Saturday
Claypool (knee) is listed as doubtful for Saturday's game against the Bills.
Analysis: Claypool has managed just one limited listing on Bears injury reports the last two weeks due to a knee issue, which appears destined to sideline him for a second consecutive contest. Equanimeous St. Brown (concussion) already has been ruled out for Week 16 action, so assuming Claypool joins him on the sideline Saturday, Chicago will be rolling with some combination of Byron Pringle, Dante Pettis, Velus Jones and N'Keal Harry (back) at wide receiver.

Claypool (knee) was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice.
Analysis: Claypool failed to practice in any capacity last week before sitting out the Bears' 25-20 loss to the Eagles on Sunday, so his return to the field in limited fashion as Chicago begins Week 16 prep marks a step in the right direction. The receiver will have two more chances to upgrade to full activity before the Bears potentially give him an injury designation ahead of Saturday's game versus the Bills.

Ruled out after no practice
Claypool (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup with Philadelphia.
Analysis: Claypool didn't practice at all this week and thus seems in at least some danger of missing a second game next Saturday (Dec. 24) against Buffalo. The Bears are left with Equanimeous St. Brown, Dante Pettis and Byron Pringle as their likely top three wide receivers, in some order, for Sunday's bout with a defense that has arguably the best secondary in the NFL. Velus Jones and N'Keal Harry could also get snaps at WR, and there's no doubt the Bears will want to run the ball as much as they can.

Misses practice
Claypool missed Wednesday's practice with a knee injury.
Analysis: The same injury limited his participation in one Week 13 practice before the Bears went on bye in Week 14. He's most likely dealing with a related issue, but he could nonetheless earn a larger role late in the season as he becomes better acclimated with offensive coordinator Luke Getsy's scheme. Claypool caught two passes for 51 yards in the Bears' 31-10 loss to the Jets on Sunday.
Analysis: Claypool led all Chicago wide receivers with five targets, and Trevor Siemian threw him a pair of downfield passes. On his 31-yard gain, Claypool beat standout cornerback Sauce Gardner, but the Chicago offense struggled to move the ball from the middle of the second quarter on, limiting Claypool's potential for additional production. Analysis: After seeing six targets and two rushing attempts in his Chicago debut last week, Claypool was targeted just twice in a game that coach Matt Eberflus said he planned to expand Claypool's package of plays. Head coach Matt Eberflus said Friday that he plans to expand Claypool's package of plays on offense in the Bears' Week 10 game against the Lions, Mark Grote of 670 The Score Chicago reports.
Analysis: After being acquired from the Steelers on Nov. 1, Claypool made his Bears debut just five days later, but he was limited to only 25 snaps on offense in the team's 35-32 loss to the Dolphins. Now that he's had more time to get a better grasp on his new team's playbook, Claypool should see a sizable uptick in his playing time, and it could come with an accompanying increase in his target/touch count. Analysis: After Chicago acquired Claypool earlier in the week, he tied for second in targets on the team with Cole Kmet. Aside from Darnell Mooney and Claypool, no other Bears receiver was targeted more than twice. Coach Matt Eberflus said Friday that Claypool may play between 10 and 35 offensive snaps Sunday against the Dolphins, Adam Hoge of AllCHGO.com reports.
Analysis: That's quite the range of outcomes for Claypool in his first game action for the Bears, but even if he meets the higher threshold mentioned by Eberflus, the third-year pro could have difficulty making his mark with new quarterback Justin Fields. No matter how Sunday shakes out for Claypool, he brings along a 32-311-1 line on 50 targets in his eight appearances for the Steelers this season.

Heading to Windy City
The Steelers traded Claypool to the Bears on Tuesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Analysis: For a team that was in dire need of help in the receiving corps, Claypool -- a second-round pick in 2020 -- is a solid addition, and he gives second-year quarterback Justin Fields another intriguing pass catcher alongside Darnell Mooney and Cole Kmet. After posting at least 800 yards through the air in each of his first two seasons, Claypool had hauled in 32 of 50 targets for 311 yards and one touchdown through eight games for Pittsburgh prior to Tuesday's trade.

Claypool's nine targets also marked his highest total of the season. Odd box score in Week 1
Claypool caught four passes on six targets for 18 yards and ran for 36 yards on six carries against Cincinnati on Sunday.
Analysis: Claypool's awkward usage was one of the fruits of Mitch Trubisky's mediocre quarterback play, leaving Claypool with a lack of pass-catching opportunities. To get Claypool the ball, the Steelers instead had to give him carries, which yielded better results than Claypool's targets. It's not Claypool's fault, but it's a problem that might persist as long as Trubisky struggles behind center. The Steelers face New England in Week 2.

Analysis: Claypool was Pittsburgh's most efficient wide receiver Sunday, but he saw fewer targets than Diontae Johnson (nine) and Ray-Ray McCloud (eight), who respectively produced 51 and 25 yards with their usage. Claypool might have more work to do to get out of coach Mike Tomlin's doghouse, but McCloud's reliably poor returns might give reason for the Steelers to reconsider any punitive playing time reductions to Claypool in the future. Held in check Sunday
Claypool logged one carry for seven yards and was credited with 12 receiving yards on a lateral while failing to bring in his two targets in Sunday's 19-13 win over the Titans.
Analysis: Claypool led the Steelers' pass catchers in last week's loss to the Vikings, but he failed to replicate his production in Week 15 as the team struggled to generate much offensive output. The 23-year-old has now secured 18 of 31 targets for 332 yards while rushing five times for 12 yards across the last five games. He has a slightly tougher matchup against Kansas City in Week 16.

Paces pass catchers in loss
Claypool brought in eight of nine targets for 93 yards and rushed once for two yards in the Steelers' 36-28 loss to the Vikings on Thursday night.
Analysis: Claypool's reception and receiving yardage totals paced the Steelers on the night, and he was behind only Diontae Johnson in targets. The second-year wideout has now cleared the 80-yard mark in three of the last four games, and his nine targets Thursday represented a major boost from the season-low three he'd logged against the Ravens in Week 13. Claypool's next opportunity to keep the favorable stretch of play going comes in a Week 15 battle against the Titans a week from Sunday.

Cleared for Thursday
Claypool (toe) doesn't have an injury designation for Thursday's game against the Vikings, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Claypool appeared hobbled for a short portion of Sunday's win over the Ravens, but he then managed full practices Tuesday and Wednesday to remove any doubt about his status for Week 14. He'll face a struggling Minnesota defense that's given up 28.3 points per game since its Week 7 bye.

Practices fully Tuesday
Claypool (toe) was a full participant in Tuesday's practice, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Claypool's ability to take every rep Tuesday suggests that his appearance on Monday's estimated practice report as a non-participant was mainly for maintenance purposes. Since missing the Steelers' Week 10 tie with the Lions due to a toe injury, Claypool has suited up for each of Pittsburgh's last three contests while producing a 10-227-0 receiving line on 20 targets. He looks like he'll be ready to pick up another start Thursday against the Vikings.

Termed as non-participant on report
Claypool (toe) was listed as a non-participant Monday on Pittsburgh's estimated practice report, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Pittsburgh didn't hold a practice one day after its 20-19 win over the Ravens, but Claypool looks as though he would have gotten some maintenance had the Steelers taken the field. The toe issue isn't a new concern for Claypool, who sat out the Week 10 tie with the Lions due to the injury. He's been able to play each of the past three games without any reported setbacks, however, so Claypool will more than likely get the green light to suit up when the Steelers take on the Vikings on Thursday.

Tallies 52 receiving yards
Claypool hauled in two of three targets for 52 yards while rushing once for two yards in Sunday's 20-19 win over the Ravens.
Analysis: Claypool drew a season-low three targets in Sunday's matchup, but he had a 40-yard reception early in the fourth quarter, which was the longest play of the game by either team. The 23-year-old hasn't had the same volume that Diontae Johnson has generated this season, but he's logged at least 40 yards from scrimmage in each of his last five appearances. During that time, he's secured 17 of 30 targets for 302 yards while rushing seven times for 32 yards. He'll have a very favorable matchup…read more

Claypool (toe) returned to a full practice Thursday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: As did QB Ben Roethlisberger (pectoral/right shoulder), which sets the stage for the duo to suit up Sunday against the Ravens. After being inactive in Week 10 due to the toe issue he's still managing, Claypool has logged 91 and 98 percent of the Steelers' offensive snaps over the past two weeks en route to hauling in eight of his 17 targets for 175 yards in that span. As long as he can stay healthy, Claypool is destined to see a steady flow of wideout looks alongside fellow starter Diontae…read more

Listed with toe injury again
Claypool (toe) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Claypool is back on the injury report after a one-week respite, though he's handled full workloads in consecutive games after missing Week 10 with the toe injury. The second-year pro played 91 and 98 percent of offensive snaps the past two weeks, catching eight of 17 targets for 175 yards. Claypool should be able to suit up this Sunday against the Ravens.

Racks up 82 yards in blowout loss
Claypool had three receptions (eight targets) for 82 yards in Sunday's 41-10 loss to Cincinnati.
Analysis: Claypool's production hovered right around his season averages heading into Sunday's contest (4.3 receptions, 65.8 yards and 7.6 targets), but he set a new season high with a 27.3 yards per catch average. The 22-year-old is currently on pace to surpass his rookie total of 873 yards with 608 receiving yards through nine starts, but his lack of touchdowns (one) continues to depress his fantasy potential. Claypool's next chance to hit pay dirt will come against the Ravens next Sunday.

Tallies 93 yards in SNF loss
Claypool had five receptions (nine targets) for 93 yards in Sunday's 41-37 loss to the Chargers.
Analysis: Claypool finished second in targets behind fellow starter Diontae Johnson, but he did not end up on the receiving end of any of Ben Roethlisberger's three touchdown passes. The second-year wideout has just one touchdown in nine appearances following his impressive 11-score rookie campaign. Good to go Week 11
Claypool (toe) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Claypool cleared up any concern about his ability to return this weekend from a one-game absence by practicing fully Friday. With Claypool back in the fold, Ray-Ray McCloud is the most likely candidate to see a downsized role after playing a season-high 69 percent of the snaps in last week's 16-16 tie with the Lions. Expect Claypool, Diontae Johnson and James Washington to compose most of the Steelers' three-receiver sets in Los Angeles.

Analysis: Coming off a Week 10 absence, Claypool has now turned in a pair of limited practices to kick off Week 11 prep. Analysis: Claypool is hoping to make it back for Sunday's road game against the Chargers after missing the Steelers' 16-16 tie with Detroit in Week 10. The wideout's fantasy managers may have been spared a dismal outing had he suited up, as Pittsburgh's offense struggled with backup quarterback Mason Rudolph limited by bad weather in addition to his own shortcomings as a passer. In line to practice Wednesday
Coach Mike Tomlin said Claypool (toe) is expected to participate in practice Wednesday, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Claypool suffered a toe injury during the Steelers' Week 9 win against the Bears, which didn't allow him to practice last week and kept him on the sideline during this past Sunday's tie with the Lions. Fortunately for the second-year wide receiver, he avoided a season-ending injury via MRI, and he now may miss as little as just one contest as a result. With Claypool sidelined, James Washington and Ray-Ray McCloud will take on larger roles behind No. 1 wide receiver Diontae Johnson. Analysis: Although Claypool's recent MRI revealed that he avoided a season-ending toe injury, he's now missed two consecutive practice sessions to begin the week. Avoids serious toe injury
The MRI that Claypool underwent Tuesday didn't reveal any major concerns with his toe, suggesting the wideout has avoided a season-ending injury, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: That said, Rapoport relays that Claypool, who didn't practice Wednesday, is considered day-to-day and may miss some time. Getting toe examined
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Claypool will undergo an MRI on Tuesday after suffering a toe injury in Monday's 29-27 win over the Bears, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: The second-year wideout wasn't on the field for the Steelers' final drive of the game but otherwise took on a full workload in the win, finishing the night with a 3-30-0 receiving line on five targets and carrying twice for 13 yards. The MRI should shed more light on the severity of Claypool's injury, but for now, his status for the Steelers' Week 10 game against the Lions is in question.

Catches four passes
Claypool caught four of five targets for 45 yards and had two carries for 16 yards during Sunday's 15-10 win at Cleveland.
Analysis: Claypool had only two catches for 17 yards on seven targets in Week 6, but he showed a better rapport with QB Ben Roethlisberger coming out of the bye week. Still, it was another modest showing for the young wideout, who hasn't been a significant factor in the passing game since catching five passes for 130 yards and a score in Week 5. Analysis: Claypool followed the same pattern as last week, when he upgraded to full participation Friday after a limited practice session Thursday. He produced 130 yards and a touchdown against the Broncos on game day, and Claypool is poised for another productive outing Week 6, this time in front of a national audience in primetime against the shaky Seahawks secondary.

Analysis: In Week 5, Claypool was limited Thursday before returning to a full practice Friday and heading into last Sunday's game against the Broncos minus an injury designation. It's plausible that pattern is repeated this time around, and if so Claypool and Diontae Johnson could be busy this weekend against the Seahawks, with Washington in line to serve as the team's WR3, if active. As a result, he's the Steelers wide receiver among the team's top three with a cloud hanging over his head for Sunday. Maintains role as big-play threat
Claypool recorded three receptions on nine targets for 70 yards in Sunday's Week 2 loss to the Raiders.
Analysis: Claypool was consistently targeted deep by Ben Roethlisberger, but the pair largely failed to connect. The one notable play between them came early in the fourth quarter, when Claypool hauled in a 52-yard pass to key a drive that ended in a touchdown. While much of Pittsburgh's offense is based around short and quick passes, Claypool stands out as the primary big-play threat. Claypool (ankle) recorded one reception on two targets for 18 yards and also one rush for 11 yards in Friday's preseason game against Carolina.
Analysis: Claypool went down with an ankle injury during practice Aug. 17 and this was his first time on the field since. He got touches or received targets on three separate offensive drives in the contest, which he converted into a pair of double-digit gains. However, by far the most important development is that Claypool is seemingly fully healthy. Analysis: Teammates Ben Roethlisberger and Eric Ebron helped Claypool off the field after he was injured near the end of Tuesday's practice. The second-year pro reportedly wasn't putting any weight on one of his legs, and he may need to undergo some tests before the Steelers have a diagnosis.

Goes down with leg injury
Claypool was injured during Tuesday's practice and didn't appear to be putting any weight on one leg, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: QB Ben Roethlisberger and TE Eric Ebron reportedly helped Claypool get off the field and over to the sideline to be evaluated by trainers. It sounds like a lower-body injury of some kind.

In uniform Thursday
Claypool is suiting up for Thursday's preseason game in Philadelphia, Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Analysis: Claypool made a diving 45-yard catch during last Thursday's Hall of Fame Game, but he remained on the field for a spell before walking to the sideline. It just so happened to be his final snap of the contest, but coach Mike Tomlin relayed afterward that Claypool was fine. Claypool's ability to suit up one week later confirms as much, but it wouldn't surprise if he exits this game well before the second quarter, when the aforementioned big play occurred last week.

Big catch in preseason opener
Claypool secured three of four targets for 62 yards during the Steelers' 16-3 preseason win over the Cowboys in Thursday's Hall of Fame Game. He remained down for some time after a 45-yard catch in the second quarter, but Adam Beasley of Pro Football Network reports head coach Mike Tomlin relayed Claypool was okay after the game.
Analysis: The second-year standout co-led the Steelers in receptions and paced the club in yards with his strong night, one that was highlighted by the game-long grab on which he appeared to be shaken up momentarily. Claypool made an immediate impact as a rookie with a 62-873-9 line across 16 games while adding two rushing touchdowns. However, he was also charged with seven drops, and the Notre Dame product will therefore look to tighten up his poor 56.4 percent catch rate and reach the 1,000-yard…read more

Confident heading into Year 2
Claypool says "things are getting easier" for him in the NFL, Teresa Varley of steelers.com reports.
Analysis: Claypool opened his rookie season on the bench before scoring four touchdowns in his first NFL start Week 5 against Philadelphia. He had just one more 100-yard game the rest of the year, but he finished with nine receiving TDs and two rushing TDs, later adding two more scores in the playoff loss to Cleveland. The 23-year-old enters his second pro season listed as a starter on the Pittsburgh depth chart, alongside fellow wide receivers Diontae Johnson and JuJu Smith-Schuster. Each of the three…read more

Ends rookie year with two more TDs
Claypool had five receptions for 59 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 48-37 loss to Cleveland.
Analysis: The Steelers were unable to take care of business against a fierce division rival, but Claypool was able to reward those still relying on him in alternate and DFS formats with another multi-score game. The 2020 second-round pick exploded onto the scene with a seven-catch, 110-yard performance to go along with three touchdowns way back in Week 5 of the regular season. The Notre Dame product earned a regular rotation spot in the Steelers' deep receiver corps, finishing his rookie regular season…read more

Tops 100 receiving yards
Claypool recorded five receptions on 11 targets for 101 yards and one touchdown in Week 17 against the Browns.
Analysis: Claypool provided Mason Rudolph with a deep threat, racking up a 41-yard reception and 28-yard touchdown to close the regular season. As is typical, Claypool had an inconsistent rookie campaign, beginning slowly before exploding for 408 yards and seven touchdowns across seven contests spanning from Week 5 to 11. His production has slowed since, though this effort gives him his second 100-receiving yard effort of the season. He will be relied upon to continue to provide a spark to the Steelers'…read more

Tops 50 yards again
Claypool caught four of his six targets for 54 yards in Sunday's 28-24 win over the Colts.
Analysis: Claypool has been consistent over the last two weeks, recording 54 receiving yards in both contests while being targeted 14 times during that span. Although the rookie has topped 50 yards in six of the last eight games, he hasn't reached the end zone since Week 11. Claypool now has hauled in 57 of his 98 targets for 772 yards and eight touchdowns with just one week remaining in the regular season.

Three catches in MNF loss
Claypool caught three of eight targets for 54 yards in Monday's 27-17 loss to Cincinnati. He also rushed once for a six-yard loss.
Analysis: Claypool didn't catch his only target in a first half that saw quarterback Ben Roethlisberger throw for a career-low 19 yards, but the rookie receiver promptly made his mark by tiptoeing the sideline for a 37-yard gain on Pittsburgh's first drive of the third quarter. He appeared to be interfered with on a crucial fourth-quarter deep ball with the Steelers trailing by seven, but the rookie didn't get the call and was kept out of the end zone for a fourth consecutive game. Targeted six times in SNF loss
Claypool brought in three of his six targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 26-15 loss to the Bills.
Analysis: Claypool was limited in practice for most of the week due to an illness, but he didn't appear to have any restrictions during Sunday's matchup. The 22-year-old's target share has dropped considerably over the past two weeks, as he's only averaging five targets per game during that time. Plus, his average of 2.5 yards per target against the Bills was his lowest mark since Week 6. Several other Steelers have struggled with drops in recent weeks, but Claypool hasn't seen an increased target share…read more

Cleared to play
Claypool (illness) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Bills after practicing fully Friday, Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Analysis: Claypool missed Thursday's practice, but his full session Friday clears him for Week 14 action. The wideout caught two of his four targets for 38 yards in this past Monday's loss to Washington, but prior to that he'd averaged 10 targets over his previous four outings. An uptick in volume this weekend thus seems plausible for the 2020 second-rounder, who's logged a 47-649-8 stat line through his first 12 games as a pro.

Misses practice Thursday
Claypool (illness) didn't practice Thursday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: In previous seasons, a player missing practice Thursday due to an illness was less of a concern, but these days it requires more focused follow-up. We'll revisit Claypool's status no later than Friday to see if he's in any danger of missing Sunday's game against the Bills.

Only two catches
Claypool caught two of four targets for 38 yards in Monday's 23-17 loss to Washington.
Analysis: Claypool's two catches both put Pittsburgh in good position to score. Although he didn't see many looks overall, the rookie again showed his big-play ability with a 30-yard gain on one of his grabs. He'll hope for more volume as the Steelers aim to rebound Week 14 versus the Bills.

Tops 50 yards in win
Claypool hauled in six of his nine targets for 52 yards in Wednesday's 19-14 win over the Ravens.
Analysis: Claypool failed to reach the end zone Wednesday after scoring three touchdowns over the past two weeks, but he topped 50 yards for a fourth consecutive week. The rookie was only on the field for 62 percent of the team's snaps, but he's gotten his fair share of targets recently while generating consistent production for the Steelers.

Hits paydirt again in win
Claypool caught four of eight targets for 59 receiving yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 27-3 win against Jacksonville.
Analysis: JuJu Smith-Schuster suffered a toe injury Sunday, and though the team indicated he could have returned to the contest in a pinch, he was ultimately rested late in the game as Pittsburgh carried a substantial lead. That development opened up additional opportunities for the rookie out of Notre Dame, as he came down with his third TD catch of the past two weeks. Claypool's TD production is a key reason for why he's planted his name in the Offensive Rookie of the Year discussion, as he already has…read more

Finds end zone twice
Claypool recorded four receptions on 10 targets for 56 yards and two touchdowns in Week 10 against the Bengals.
Analysis: Claypool wasn't particularly efficient with his targets, as he converted only one of his first five opportunities into a reception. However, he continued to use his big frame to excel near the goal line, leaping over a defender for an 11-yard touchdown late in the third quarter. He followed that up with another score on the next drive, working over the middle and diving into the end zone for a two-yard touchdown. Despite relatively modest yardage totals, Claypool now has nine total touchdowns…read more

Career high in targets Sunday
Claypool caught eight of 13 targets for 69 yards in Sunday's 24-19 win over the Cowboys. He also carried the ball once for four yards.
Analysis: Ben Roethlisberger attempted 42 passes in the comeback win, and Claypool set a new career high in targets as a result. The high volume didn't result in huge production, however, as the QB made sure all his main options stayed involved -- Claypool and Diontae Johnson each saw double-digit targets, but it was JuJu Smith-Schuster, James Washington and Eric Ebron who got into the end zone. Claypool will look to make a bigger impact in Week 10 against a vulnerable Bengals defense.

Notches another TD in Week 8 win
Claypool reeled in five of his nine targets for 42 receiving yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 28-24 win against the Ravens. He also lost one fumble.
Analysis: Boosted by an incredible 116-yard, four-touchdown performance Week 5 against the Eagles, Claypool has posted six touchdowns over his past four appearances. Though he finished third among Steelers pass-catchers in receiving Sunday, the rookie's target total paced the team, an encouraging signal of his ongoing fantasy potential. Minimal output versus Titans
Claypool hauled in his lone target for minus two yards in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Titans.
Analysis: Claypool took the field for 65 percent of the snaps on offense Sunday, but his target share diminished with Diontae Johnson (ankle) back in action. The 2020 second-round pick was used as a decoy in several goal-line situations but touched the ball only once against Tennessee. While Claypool's playing time remained steady, his production took a significant hit with all of the Steelers' receivers healthy for most of the game. The ankle injury suffered by Johnson in the fourth quarter of Sunday's…read more

Another explosive performance
Claypool caught all four of his targets for 74 yards in Week 6 against the Browns. He also chipped in two rushes for seven yards and a touchdown.
Analysis: The Steelers had a fairly even distribution of targets between Claypool, James Washington, Eric Ebron and JuJu Smith-Schuster. However, Claypool led the team in receiving yards, turning in chunk gains of 36 and 23 yards. His trip to the end zone came on a sweep out of the backfield from the three-yard line late in the third quarter. Even if Diontae Johnson (back) is healthy enough to return in Week 7 against the Titans, Claypool has likely showcased enough skill to keep a significant role in…read more

Set for expanded role
Claypool is expected to get the majority of reps at wide receiver in tandem with JuJu Smith-Schuster on Sunday against the Browns with Diontae Johnson (back) ruled out, Mark Kaboly of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Claypool will have a golden opportunity to build on last week's breakout four-touchdown performance against a Browns defense that's allowing the third-most passing yards in the league. Those who were lucky enough to scoop the rookie off the waiver wire should feel confident about plugging Claypool right into starting lineups in this favorable matchup.

Breaks out against Eagles
Claypool recorded seven receptions on 11 targets for 110 yards and three touchdowns in Week 5 against the Eagles. He also added three rushes for six yards and another score.
Analysis: Claypool took over as the Steelers' top receiving option after Diontae Johnson exited the game in the first quarter with a back injury. His first trip to the end zone came on a two-yard rush late in the first quarter. Claypool then added a trio of receiving scores, coming from 35, 32 and five yards away. One long catch against Texans
Claypool caught one of his four targets for a 24-yard gain during Sunday's 28-21 win over the Texans.
Analysis: Ben Roethlisberger took a number of deep shots to his rookie wideout during Sunday's win, but it was a screen pass that helped to put the game on ice. Claypool collected a quick toss from Roethlisberger on a third and nine with just over two minutes to go and made two defenders miss as he streaked down the left sideline for a near-touchdown. Makes long TD catch
Claypool caught all three of his targets for 88 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 26-21 win over the Broncos.
Analysis: Claypool provided one of the highlights of the day when he caught a deep pass from Ben Roethlisberger and raced down the sideline for an 84-yard touchdown. The rookie made an impressive deep catch in the season opener and appears to already have developed a downfield rapport with Roethlisberger. He was also used on a couple of shorter passes around the line of scrimmage, indicating that the coaching staff is interested in getting him the ball in multiple ways. Two catches in debut
Claypool caught both his targets for 38 yards and ran once for eight yards in the Steelers' 26-16 Week 1 win over the Giants on Monday.
Analysis: The rookie caught a 28-yard pass on Pittsburgh's second possession to set up their first score of the game. He had just one other target all game, taking a back seat to JuJu Smith-Schuster and James Washington who combined for 16 of Ben Roethlisberger's 31 targets on the night. Surprisingly, Claypool ran for eight yards on the second-to-last snap of the game, suggesting Pittsburgh may look for more ways to get the ball in his hands in the future.

Dominating at training camp
Claypool has been consistently impressive at training camp, according to Mark Kaboly of The Athletic.
Analysis: The rookie's teammates seem to agree, with TE Eric Ebron tweeting that Claypool will be "a PROBLEM in this league," while LB Keith Davis noted that the second-round pick has bounced back after struggling with drops early in camp (per Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com).
