Coach David Culley said Monday that Collins (shoulder) is dealing with a "pretty significant" injury, Aaron Reiss of The Athletic reports.

Analysis: Culley didn't rule the receiver out for Thursday night's matchup against the Panthers, however. The 22-year-old has totaled two receptions for 39 yards across the first two weeks of the season, but Andre Roberts could see increased work in Week 3 if Collins is unavailable.

Injures shoulder

Analysis: Prior to his exit from the contest, Collins caught his only target for 32 yards. In his absence, Brandin Cooks, Chris Conley and Danny Amendola are in line to head the Texans' Week 2 WR corps.

Plays second-most snaps at WR

Collins caught one of three targets for seven yards in Sunday's 37-21 win over the Jaguars.

Analysis: Collins, a 2021 third-round draft pick, was second among wide receivers with 43 snaps (55 percent), trailing only No. 1 wideout Brandin Cooks. When Houston made Anthony Miller (coach's decision) inactive, it was unclear how the playing time would be distributed, but Collins and Chris Conley (40 snaps) were given the most run after Cooks. Analysis: Collins entered the game with the first-team offense, but he played into the third quarter and was targeted by both Tyrod Taylor and Davis Mills. He wasn't particularly efficient with either signal caller, though he did manage an 11-yard touchdown connection with Mills midway through the third quarter. Collins isn't likely to play a huge role in Week 1 against Jacksonville, though he could overtake players such as Chris Conley or Keke Coutee for a role as the season wears on.

Returns to practice Monday

Collins is listed as the sixth wideout on the Texans' unofficial depth chart, Brooks Kubena of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Analysis: Perhaps Collins, the Texans' third-round draft pick in 2021, is getting the rookie treatment heading into the first preseason game. He's popped early in camp and seemingly was in the mix to start opposite Brandin Cooks, but that privilege goes to veteran Chris Conley. It's early and changes will occur between now and the regular season, so interested observers should not read too much into Collins' placement on the depth chart.
