Not targeted in preseason debut
Dotson played in Saturday's 23-21 preseason loss to the Panthers but did not see a target.
Analysis: Carson Wentz directed a pass toward Dotson deep down the right side of the field late in the first quarter. However, it wasn't counted as an official target because defensive holding was called on the play. Dotson has reportedly shown strong rapport with Wentz during training camp and drew a start in the Commanders' first preseason game, but he'll have to wait at least another week before showcasing his skills in game action.

Teammate Terry McLaurin has been impressed with Dotson's hands and believes the rookie first-round pick out of Penn State will be an impact player out of the gate for Washington, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports.
Analysis: "When you're a sure-handed guy like he is and has been up until this point, he has a lot of confidence when the ball does get into his vicinity," McLaurin said of Dotson. While McLaurin is the clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver for Washington, Dotson could earn a prominent role right away, as Curtis Samuel is his primary competition for targets behind McLaurin at wide receiver.

Establishing chemistry already
Dotson has been a standout at OTAs and is already establishing trust with quarterback Carson Wentz, Bijan Todd of NBC Sports Washington reports.
Analysis: Dotson has consistently gotten open and become one of Wentz's favorite targets at OTAs, according to Ethan Cadeaux of NBC Sports. Granted, the Commanders are still only holding non-contact drills, but it's encouraging to see the rookie first-round pick making a solid first impression. Top wideout Terry McLaurin hasn't been participating in offseason activities due to dissatisfaction with his current deal, so Dotson will have plenty of opportunities to continue establishing a rapport with Wentz.
