Analysis: With Stefon Diggs (knee) held out, Allen completed five passes to Gabriel Davis and four apiece to Cole Beasley and Emmanuel Sanders while leading the first-team offense to 14 points on three drives against Green Bay's second-string defense. Allen will get a real challenge Week 1, with Buffalo hosting the Steelers at 1 p.m. ET on Sept. 12. Diggs should be ready for the opener after going through pregame warmups in uniform Saturday morning.

Starting preseason finale

Allen will start under center in Saturday's preseason finale versus the Packers.

Analysis: According to head coach Sean McDermott, the starters' action could range from as little as one play to a little more than a half. It's unclear where Allen falls on that spectrum, but it does mark his first action of the preseason, so it's possible the staff wants him to get a little tune-up in before the regular season.

Analysis: Several Bills got burned by the false positive test, and while the Bills' quarterback wasn't super pleased with the development, he was able to move on quickly with the rest of his teammates. Bills coach Sean McDermott later stated that this was a good dry run for the team in terms of surprises that may happen in an unusual NFL year.

Allen will miss practice Sunday after receiving a false positive COVID-19 test result, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Allen completed 17 of 39 pass attempts for 146 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Ravens.

Analysis: Allen completed just 44 percent of his attempts en route to a miserable average of 3.7 yards per attempt. He also took six sacks on the day and his mark of nine rushing yards was his lowest of the season. On a positive note, Allen managed to avoid throwing an interception for the seventh time in the last eight games, though he did lose a fumble in the contest. He will face a tough task as he looks to get back on track next Sunday against the Steelers.

Efficient day in Dallas

Allen completed 19 of 24 passes for 231 yards and a touchdown while gaining 43 rushing yards and another TD on 10 carries in Thursday's 26-15 win over the Cowboys.

Analysis: With the Bills' defense keeping Dak Prescott in check, Allen was able to settle in and get comfortable, and he set season highs in completion percentage and YPA while scampering for his eighth rushing score of the year. Since Buffalo's Week 6 bye, Allen has turned a corner as a passer and posted a sharp 11:1 TD:INT through seven games, giving him plenty of momentum heading into next week's clash with Lamar Jackson and the Ravens.

Analysis: Allen relied heavily on his legs during the first half, converting a pair of third downs with long, scrambling runs.
