Analysis: Taylor didn't have any of his typical explosive plays, but he had enough volume to top 100 yards from scrimmage. Drops two passes in scrimmage
Taylor had two dropped passes in Saturday's scrimmage, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 FM The Fan Indianapolis reports.
Analysis: While Taylor has drawn raves in training camp, he'll need to improve as a receiver to claim a larger share of the touches in the backfield, where he's expected to split time with Marlon Mack. Taylor had issues with drops in college, so his 4-5 drops during training camp, according to Bowen, are a cause for concern.

Not viewed as starter just yet
Coach Frank Reich said Wednesday that he still views Marlon Mack as his starting running back, but Reich noted Taylor will have an opportunity to catch the "hot hand," Andrew Walker of the Colts' official site reports.
Analysis: It would be unusual for an NFL coach to come out and say anything else when there's a rookie challenger to a starter with a solid track record. Viewed as 1-1 punch with Mack
Taylor and Marlon Mack are viewed not just as a 1-2 punch, but a "1-1 punch," in the Colts' offense, offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni told the team's official web site. "They have some different running styles, but again they're both complete backs. I think that's a fantastic problem to have, is to have two guys like that you can feed the football to. It's only going to help our running game," he said.
Analysis: The Colts selected Taylor in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft even with Mack coming off his first 1,000-yard rushing season. Sirianni's comments echo head coach Frank Reich's from last week calling them a 1-2 punch, making it clear the Colts plan to split the workload at running back.
