The Vikings recorded five sacks and an interception in the 23-13 win over the Titans in Week 11.
Analysis: The Vikings have a couple hiccups in late October against the Lions and Rams -- two high-powered offenses -- but they still rank fourth in the league with 17.0 points allowed per game and first with 21 takeaways. Still, their passing defense is questionable, allowing 234.8 passing yards per game -- fifth-most in the league. The Bears have passing upside that hasn't formulated yet, and they rank 22nd in the league with 19.4 points per game while QB Caleb Williams has been sacked a league-high 41…read more

The Vikings recorded three sacks and three takeaways in the 12-7 win over the Jaguars in Week 10.
Analysis: The Vikings drew an excellent matchup versus the Jaguars, who were starting backup QB Mac Jones. They will receive a similarly favorable matchup in Week 11 versus the Titans, who have scored more than 20 points just one time this season while coughing up 17 total turnovers (30th). Vikings DC Brian Flores will put immense pressure on QB Will Levis, making Vikings D/ST an elite fantasy option this week.

The Vikings recorded three sacks and two takeaways in the 21-13 win over the Colts in Week 9.
Analysis: The Vikings got back on track last week and will turn their focus to the Jaguars in Week 10, most likely without QB Trevor Lawrence (shoulder) in the fold. That would mean QB Mac Jones gets the nod. Jones played 11 games in 2023 and posted 6.1 YPA and a 10:12 TD:INT ratio. Considering the Vikings' scheme of confusing opposing offenses, Jones is a heavy underdog in this situation, meaning Vikings D/ST should be considered a strong starting option.

The Vikings recorded an interception and no sacks in the 30-20 loss to the Rams in Week 8.
Analysis: The Vikings have allowed 29-plus points in three of the last four games, but they still posted nine turnovers in that stretch to bring their season total to 15 (second in the league). Now, they'll face QB Joe Flacco and the Colts in Week 9. Flacco has been effective through three games (two starts), recording 6.6 YPA and a 7:1 TD:INT ratio. The Vikings have the potential to bounce back in a big way against Flacco if they can limit the big plays, but there's more risk than meets the eyes here.

The Vikings recorded four sacks and returned a fumble for a touchdown in the 31-29 loss to the Lions in Week 7.
Analysis: The Vikings' defense is starting to show some cracks, as it allowed 29-plus points in two of the last three games. Still, it maintains massive upside with 14 takeaways (second) and 24 sacks (third) through six games, and it should be in a decent position versus the Rams in Week 8. WR Cooper Kupp is making his return from an ankle injury, but it's unclear if he'll be at 100 percent, and he needs to be fully back to improve this offense that ranks 23rd in scoring this year. Thus, there's too much…read more

The Vikings recorded three sacks and three interceptions in the 23-17 win over the Jets in Week 5.
Analysis: The Vikings are coming off a bye week with some of the best defensive numbers in tow, allowing 15.2 points per game (third) while recording 13 takeaways (second) and 15 sacks (15th). Despite this, it's hard to get excited for a matchup versus the Lions, who lead the league with 30.2 points per game while giving up just four turnovers through five games (fifth). Vikings D/ST should have appeal in large-format DFS tournaments, but it's too risky in redrafts formats.

The Vikings recorded four takeaways and one sack in the 31-29 win over the Packers in Week 4.
Analysis: The Vikings rank first in the league with 17 sacks and second in the league with 10 takeaways while allowing just 14.8 points per game (fourth). This defense has been phenomenal, and it draws an intriguing Week 5 matchup versus the Jets, who have scored just 19 points per game (21st). QB Aaron Rodgers protects the ball well but has been sacked 10 times through four games, so even if the ceiling is limited, the floor is high enough to start Vikings D/ST in all formats this week.

The Vikings recorded five sacks and two interceptions in the 34-7 win over the Texans in Week 3.
Analysis: The Vikings held the 49ers and Texans to a combined 24 points, and they rank third in the league with six takeaways and first in the league with 16 sacks. DC Brian Flores has been excellent which his schemes and could put immense pressure on QB Malik Willis if QB Jordan Love (knee) is unable to play. The Vikings recorded six sacks and two takeaways in the 23-17 win over the 49ers in Week 2.
Analysis: The Vikings proved they can hang with the best offenses, even if Christian McCaffery (calf) was inactive and Deebo Samuel (calf) left early. They face another tough test in Week 3 against the Texans, who have perhaps the top receiver corps in the league with Nico Collins, Tank Dell and Stefon Diggs. The Vikings proved they have DFS appeal on a weekly basis, but this matchup shouldn't warrant much confidence in redraft formats.

The Vikings recorded five sacks and two interceptions, including a pick-six, during the 28-6 win over the Giants in Week 1.
Analysis: The Vikings' defense took full advantage of a favorable matchup against QB Daniel Jones and the Giants, winding up as one of the league's top fantasy defenses. It's intriguing that this unit has such a ceiling, but there's no need to take the risk this week against the 49ers. In Week 1, the 49ers put up 32 points against the Jets without RB Christian McCaffrey, who may sit out again this week.

The Vikings are entering the second season with DC Brian Flores in the Week 1 matchup versus the Giants.
Analysis: The Vikings lost DEs Danielle Hunter (16.5 sacks) and D.J. Wonnum (8.0 sack) but are hoping that DE Jonathan Greenard (12.5 sacks) and LB Andrew Van Ginkel (6.5 sacks) can help replace them. A strong pass rush will raise this unit's ceiling in Week 1 against the Giants, who will have QB Daniel Jones under center. Jones has posted a 17:11 TD:INT ratio over his last 22 starts, and he's coming off a torn ACL. Thus the ceiling is massive, making Vikings D/ST a must-start this week.

CB Mekhi Blackmon tore his ACL and will miss the entire 2024 season.
Analysis: Blackmon was aiming for a starting role but needed to beat out Shaquill Griffin (hamstring). Griffin has played for three teams over the last two seasons, as he was waived by the Panthers in November of 2023. That caliber of inconsistency may be tough to rely on, especially considering the possible drop-off in the pass-rushing department after DE Danielle Hunter (16.5 sacks last year) left for Houston. DE Jonathan Greenard (12.5 sacks) should help fill the void, though. This defense is still…read more

The Vikings recorded no sacks and no takeaways in the 33-10 loss to the Packers in Week 17.
Analysis: The Vikings will be without CB Byron Murphy (ankle) for a third straight week. Their passing defense has struggled all season, especially without Murphy in the fold, so they will likely struggle in Week 18 against the Lions, who are playing for seeding and are expected to play their starters all game. After all, the Lions rank fifth in the league with 26.9 points per game while also ranking fifth with 28 passing touchdowns.

The Vikings recorded a sack and a fumble recovery in the 30-24 win over the Lions in Week 16.
Analysis: It's unclear if CB Byron Murphy (knee) will be ready for the Week 17 game versus the Packers, and his absence could be significant if the Packers get healthy. That doesn't look promising, however, as WRs Christian Watson (hamstring) and Dontayvion Wicks (chest/ankle) didn't practice Thursday while WR Jayden Reed (chest/toe) was limited. If Watson and Wicks sit out, it provides a decent floor for Vikings D/ST, which has given up just 20.0 points per game (10th) this year while forcing 21…read more

Analysis: The Vikings allowed more than 21 points for just the second time in nine games. They've held their own lately, and they rank 15th in the league with 20 turnovers. Still, this matchup is quite daunting and carries a ton of risk because the Lions rank fifth with 27.3 points per game. Analysis: The Vikings completely shut down rookie QB Aidan O'Connell. This defense has been surprisingly good lately, and it ranks fifth with 18.6 points allowed per game while forcing 19 turnovers (13th) this season. Still, it's tough to get excited about the Week 15 matchup against the Bengals. Analysis: The Vikings lost the game but put together an excellent fantasy performance. They're now coming off a bye week to face the Raiders, who will start rookie QB Aidan O'Connell once again. The Raiders have averaged a putrid 18.6 points per game while O'Connell has been under center while he has posted a 3:5 TD:INT ratio. The Vikings recorded two sacks and no takeaways in the 21-20 loss to the Broncos in Week 11.
Analysis: The Vikings have allowed 21 or fewer points in five of the last six games while totaling 11 takeaways in that stretch. They're heating up, and they're set up quite well for a matchup against the Bears, who rank 19th in the league with 20.9 points per game while giving up a whopping 19 turnovers (25th). Of course, there is some risk if QB Justin Fields can continue his impact on the ground, but it's easy to swallow when considering the upside. Vikings D/ST is a top-10 redraft unit this week.

The Vikings recorded three sacks and two interceptions in the 27-19 win over the Saints in Week 10.
Analysis: The Vikings performed well, but unfortunately, they lost LB Jordan Hicks (shin) for at least four weeks in the process. Hicks is a major part of the team's run defense. However, they should be able to manage in Week 11 versus the Broncos, who are coming off back-to-back wins against the Chiefs and Bills. Despite their impressive wins, the Broncos still rank 15th with 21.7 points per game while giving up 13 turnovers (18th). Furthermore, QB Russell Wilson has been sacked a whopping 30 times,…read more

Analysis: The Vikings are heating up with nine takeaways over the last four games, bringing their total to 12 on the season (18th). Their pass rush sits middle of the pack with 24 sacks (14th), so a lot of their fantasy value will come from favorable matchups. The Saints don't provide a ton of ceiling for opposing defenses, as they have given up just 10 turnovers (seventh), but they also rank 15th with 21.7 points per game. The Vikings recorded three takeaways and a sack in the 22-17 win over the 49ers in Week 7.
Analysis: The Vikings defense was largely underwhelming entering this game, but they surprised and dominated against one of the best offenses in football. We can't discount the other six games, though, as the Vikings still rank 20th with 21.8 points allowed per game and 17th with just nine takeaways. Their pass rush is solid, too, so they have a good opportunity against the Packers, who haven't scored more than 20 points in a game since Week 2.

The Vikings recorded five sacks and three takeaways in the 19-13 win over the Bears in Week 6.
Analysis: The Vikings didn't have to deal with QB Justin Fields (hand) all game, as undrafted rookie QB Tyson Bagent ended up throwing 14 passes for 83 yards. We still shouldn't view this unit as reliable, as it has given up 22.5 points per game while forcing just six turnovers (20th). Most of all, we can't trust Vikings D/ST in Week 7, as the 49ers are coming to town with 30.7 points per game (second) while giving up a league-low three turnovers.

Analysis: This was a fine outing by the Vikings defense, but it has been a difficult year overall. They rank 23rd with 24.4 points allowed per game while forcing just three turnovers. Their pass rush has been getting it done with 13 sacks, however, so there's a clear opportunity against QB Justin Fields, who has been dropped 20 times through five games. Analysis: The Vikings defense finally showed some life against rookie QB Bryce Young. They should quickly fall back to earth in Week 5 versus the Chiefs, who have scored 25.3 points per game (ninth). There's potentially some upside considering QB Patrick Mahomes has tossed four picks through four games. But that's not enough upside to justify starting this unit in sesaon-long formats.

The Vikings recorded a sack and a fumble recovery in the 28-24 loss to the Chargers.
Analysis: The Vikings had no answer for Chargers QB Justin Herbert, who threw for 405 yards and three scores. They'll face rookie QB Bryce Young and the Panthers in Week 4, which provides some upside for this unit. Through two games with Young under center, the Panthers averaged 13.5 points while giving up four turnovers. Young was sacked six times in that stretch. Even with the disappointing start for the Vikings, this matchup is likely too good to pass up for fantasy purposes.

The Vikings posted four sacks and an interception in the 34-28 loss to the Eagles in Week 2.
Analysis: The Vikings are off to an 0-2 start to begin the season, and their defense has totaled five sacks and one takeaway. These aren't promising numbers, and now they face a Chargers team that has averaged 29 points per game through two weeks while avoiding any turnovers. There is some opportunity because QB Justin Herbert has been sacked six times thus far, but WRs Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are likely too much for the Vikings' secondary to handle. The Vikings recorded a sack and no takeaways in the 20-17 win over the Buccaneers in Week 1.
Analysis: The matchup against QB Baker Mayfield looked good on paper. However, Vikings D/ST couldn't take advantage of the matchup. Now, they'll face one of the best offenses in the league Thursday when they travel to Philadelphia. The Vikings' defense may have a limited ceiling all season, so they aren't worth the risk this week in fantasy.

The Vikings' defense is healthy heading into the Week 1 matchup versus the Buccaneers.
Analysis: The Vikings added LB Marcus Davenport this offseason. While Davenport struggled last year, he's two years removed from posting nine sacks in a season. They need Davenport to step up in order to be a consistently viable fantasy option, but even if he struggles this season, the Vikings D/ST has intriguing upside in Week 1. Facing QB Baker Mayfield always provides a high ceiling for opposing defenses, although there's plenty of risk with WRs Chris Godwin and Mike Evans at his disposal.

The Vikings are healthy at the beginning of training camp.
Analysis: The Vikings gave up 25.1 points per game last season -- the fifth-most in the league. It should help that 2022 first-round pick S Lewis Cine -- who played three games last year -- and second-round pick CB Andrew Booth -- who played six games last year -- are healthy. It's unclear how high the ceilings for those two players are, but they'll need to verge on stardom to help this unit produce for fantasy purposes considering this unit posted just 38 sacks last year (21st).

The Vikings traded LB Za'Darius Smith to the Browns and signed LB Marcus Davenport this offseason.
Analysis: Smith was excellent with the Vikings, but Davenport -- who posted nine sacks as a 24-year-old in 2021 -- has a chance for a fresh start and could fill the void immediately. It seems unlikely that the pass rush improves, however, as it ranked 21st last year with 38 sacks, leading to the second-worst passing defense (265 passing yards allowed per game) last season. Analysis: This was the first time since Week 9 that the Vikings gave up fewer than 22 points, as they gave up 25.2 points per game (28th) this season. This unit has been liable for blowouts this season, especially against high-powered offenses, but the Giants don't necessarily have that upside with just 21.5 points per game (15th) this year. Analysis: The Vikings allowed a kick return for a touchdown and a pick-six, so their defense wasn't completely at fault, though the kick return still affects fantasy players. This hasn't been a traditional Vikings defense, though, as it ranks 31st with 25.9 points allowed per game. The Vikings posted four sacks and three takeaways in the 34-26 win over the Cardinals in Week 8.
Analysis: The Vikings have totaled 21 sacks (ninth) and 13 takeaways (fifth) through seven games this season, but they have allowed 22 or more points in five of the last six games. They draw an appealing Week 9 matchup against the Commanders, who have averaged 17.8 points per game (27th) while their quarterbacks have been sacked a whopping 26 times. There's a massive opportunity for the Vikings D/ST this week.

The Cardinals offense scored 28 points in Week 7 against the Saints with WR DeAndre Hopkins back in the fold; QB Kyler Murray passes for 204 yards and a touchdown. However, they rank 13th in the league with seven takeaways and 12th with 11 sacks. The Dolphins are expected to start rookie seventh-round QB Skylar Thompson this week. Now, they'll travel to London, England to face off against the Saints in Week 4. The matchup is quite intriguing because the Saints have given up a league-high nine turnovers while QB Jameis Winston has been sacked 11 times. Start Vikings D/ST hoping to reach that ceiling.

The Vikings posted four sacks and two takeaways in the 23-7 win over the Packers in Week 1.
Analysis: The Vikings have a menacing front seven, though their secondary has a few question marks even after an impressive performance against QB Aaron Rodgers. They may struggle to get home against mobile QB Jalen Hurts, who is behind a steady offensive line. This will be a true test for their secondary, too, as WRs A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith are a major upgrade over Green Bay's unseasoned bunch of pass-catchers. Try to pivot from Vikings D/ST in Week 2.

The Vikings are healthy heading into the 2022 season.
Analysis: The Vikings finished second in the league last season with 51 sacks, and they added firepower to their pass rush in the form of LB Za'Darius Smith -- who is two seasons removed from 12.5 sacks. This is a scary front seven that now features LBs Eric Kendricks and Jordan Hicks in the middle. While there are questions in the secondary, this pass rush can cover up some blemishes. This unit may even be viable as a floor play against the Packers in Week 1.

The outlook won't improve this weekend in Green Bay, especially since the Minnesota offense will be without QB Kirk Cousins. Minnesota has been a solid defensive unit most of the season, but fantasy production has been inconsistent. Los…read more

The Vikings gave up 444 yards and 37 points to the Seahawks in Week 13 and will play the Lions on Sunday.
Analysis: Minnesota was torched for 218 rushing yards and 5.1 YPC as Seattle possessed the ball for nearly 40 minutes, but there was still plenty of production to be had. The Vikings had two sacks and two takeaways, including a 20-yard interception return for a touchdown from Anthony Harris. Week 14 presents a much more palatable matchup against the Lions, who are likely without QB Matthew Stafford (back/hip) once again. David Blough was serviceable in his first career start versus Chicago, but this…read more

The Vikings come out of their bye week allowing 338.6 YPG and 18.6 PPG and will play the Seahawks on Monday.
Analysis: Minnesota provided limited fantasy production with only one takeaway and two sacks Week 11 against Denver, but it still managed to avoid the loss. QB Russell Wilson provides a more challenging matchup Monday, but the Vikings have been a consistent defensively for most of the season. Minnesota also ranks in the top half of the league in takeaways (16) and sacks (31), and their well-rounded numbers provide a decent floor. Seattle is certainly no matchup to write home about, but you could do worse…read more

The Vikings surrendered 443 yards in Sundays 28-24 win over the Cowboys and will play the Broncos in Week 11.
Analysis: Minnesota forced the game's lone turnover and each team had one sack, so there wasn't much defensive fantasy production in this contest. The Vikings still rank as one of the better defensive units in the league (18.8 PPG and 333.1 YPG), and they will have a chance to face a Broncos offense that struggles to score (16.6 PPG) and protect the quarterback (30 sacks allowed). Minnesota should be a top-tier D/ST this week while QB Brandon Allen makes his second career start for Denver.

The Vikings allowed 377 yards and 26 points during the Week 9 loss to the Chiefs and will play the Cowboys on Sunday.
Analysis: Minnesota took a 23-20 lead early in the fourth quarter, but a couple of late field goals from Harrison Butker gave Kansas City the win. The Vikings still rank as one of the better defenses in the league, but the matchup with the Cowboys is poor timing coming off a loss to a backup quarterback in Matt Moore. Dallas has a top-five offense in yardage (436.8 YPG), scoring (28.4 PPG) and sacks allowed (10). The Minnesota D/ST has been a dependable unit in 2019, but it could be worth checking out…read more
