Two receptions in win
Alie-Cox had two receptions for 17 yards on three targets in Sunday's win at the Jets.
Analysis: Alie-Cox started at tight end and played on 28 of of the offense's 70 snaps but went out on just seven routes. Kylen Granson ran 18 routes (one reception) by comparison as the Colts continue to divide up the playing time among three or four tight ends.

Not targeted in loss
Alie-Cox did not draw a target during Sunday's 21-13 loss at Minnesota.
Analysis: Between Alie-Cox, Drew Ogletree and Kylen Granson, only one target was earned in Week 9. None of the three tight ends is likely to garner much fantasy value if they can't separate themselves in terms of playing time, and Alie-Cox specifically must clear the additional hurdle of being the one most frequently assigned blocking duties.

No receptions in win
Alie-Cox did not have a reception and just one target in Sunday's win over Miami.
Analysis: Alie-Cox had some relevance in the passing game the past two weeks with Joe Flacco at quarterback (six receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown) but was back to mostly serving as a blocking tight end with Anthony Richardson as the starter. Alie-Cox has just one reception in games started by Richardson.

Four receptions in win
Alie-Cox had four receptions for 41 yards on four targets in Sunday's win at Tennessee.
Analysis: Alie-Cox wasn't on the field for Indy's first play on offense but played the most snaps among Colts tight ends. He logged 34 of the offense's 70 snaps (Drew Ogletree played 21 and Kylen Granson played 17) and went out on the most routes (16 compared to 8 for Ogletree and 13 for Granson). Alie-Cox has seen an uptick in targets with Joe Flacco at quarterback with four in both of the past two games. While that may not be sustainable with how the Colts divide the workload evenly between three or…read more

Catches TD in loss
Alie-Cox had two receptions for 37 yards, including an 18-yard touchdown, in Sunday's loss at Jacksonville.
Analysis: Alie-Cox didn't play more than usual (33% of the offense's snaps) but had a season-high four targets with Joe Flacco taking over at quarterback. He had three targets total through the first four games. While Alie-Cox could get more targets if Flacco remains the starter, he's not likely to see much more than the occasional red-zone target. Even then, the Colts still divide playing time and targets evenly between three tight ends.

Not involved in Week 4
Alie-Cox did not record a single target in Sunday's 27-24 win over the Steelers.
Analysis: Alie-Cox played 31 of the Colts' 66 offensive snaps Sunday, ahead of fellow tight ends Drew Ogletree (24) and Kylen Granson (20). Despite playing the most snaps, Alie-Cox continued to operate primarily as a blocker and failed to record a catch for the third time through four games. The 31-year-old veteran should not be trusted for fantasy purposes heading into a Week 5 matchup against the Jaguars.

Minimal role on offense
Alie-Cox did not have a reception and was targeted just once in Sunday's loss to Houston.
Analysis: Alie-Cox got the start at tight end, but he's almost exclusively a blocking tight end these days as he went out on just seven routes among his 18 snaps on offense. Kylen Granson played more snaps (25) but also had just one target. With the Colts using a more vertical passing attack than last season, none of the Colts' tight ends may get significant targets.

Listed as starter on initial depth chart
Alie-Cox is listed as one of two starting tight ends on Indianapolis' first unofficial depth chart of the preseason, Amanda Foster of the Colts' official site reports.
Analysis: Kylen Granson is listed as a starter at tight end along with Alie-Cox, who would function primarily as a blocker if the two were to share the field together. Though the 6-foot-5, 267-pound Alie-Cox still presents a big target in the red zone, his involvement in the passing game has faded over the past two seasons. He had just 22 targets in 17 games in 2023, finishing with 13 receptions for 161 yards and three touchdowns.

Could be done in Indy
Alie-Cox is scheduled for $5.9 million in non-guaranteed compensation for 2024, making him a candidate to be released this offseason, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: He's entering the final year of his contract and will turn 31 in September. Alie-Cox has long been the Colts' best blocking tight end and has 14 touchdowns among his 102 career receptions, so it won't be surprising if he ends up sticking around, possibly via a contract extension or renegotiated contract. Kylen Granson, Will Mallory, Jelani Woods and Andrew Ogletree are all more likely to operate as the team's top receiving threat at tight end in 2024, though it's been a long time since the…read more

Finds end zone thrice in 2023
Alie-Cox secured 13 of 22 targets for 161 yards and three touchdowns across 17 regular-season games with the Colts in 2023.
Analysis: Alie-Cox handled his usual depth role with Indianapolis in 2023, as has been usual throughout his six-year NFL career. His yardage total for this past season was the lowest since 2019, but Alie-Cox's occasional red-zone deployment remained steady. The Colts do have a potential 'out' from Alie-Cox's contract this offseason with zero dead cap for the team, so it seems all but guaranteed that the big-bodied tight end will need to either restructure his deal or be cut.

Two receptions in win
Alie-Cox had two receptions for 18 yards on three targets in Sunday's win over the Raiders.
Analysis: Alie-Cox started at tight end and played on 34 of the offense's 56 snaps but went out on just 13 routes. He was mostly used as a run blocker (18 snaps) as the Colts played with a lead most of the game. Despite the two receptions, he isn't a huge factor in the passing attack, as he's been held without a catch seven times in 15 games.

No receptions in loss
Alie-Cox did not have a reception on his only target in Sunday's loss at Atlanta.

Gets third TD
Alie-Cox had two reception for 21 yards on four targets, including an 18-yard touchdown, in Saturday's win over Pittsburgh.
Analysis: It was Alie-Cox's week to lead the tight ends in receiving even though he went out on the third-most routes at the postion. Drew Ogletree played on 38 of the offense's 67 snaps, while Alie-Cox played on 35 snaps, Kylen Granson logged 20 and Will Mallory played eight. Alie-Cox went out for a pass on 11 plays, while Olgetree and Granson recorded 12 routes and Mallory ran seven. Scores second TD
Alie-Cox had one reception for a two-yard touchdown on his lone target in Sunday's loss at Cincinnati.
Analysis: It as Alie-Cox's second touchdown of the season. He's rarely a factor in the passing game, however, with just seven receptions in 13 games. He's mostly a blocking tight end these days.

Makes 30-yard catch
Alie-Cox had one reception for 30 yards on his lone target in Sunday's 27-20 win over Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Alie-Cox broke wide open off a run fake on fourth down for a key first down late in the game. It was a rare showing in the passing game for Alie-Cox, who has just three receptions in his last six games. It's not likely to start a trend, as he's almost exclusively become a blocking tight end.

Ready for Sunday
Alie-Cox (concussion) was cleared of his injury designation Saturday and will be available Sunday against the Jaguars.
Analysis: Alie-Cox won't end up missing any time after clearing the five-step concussion protocol following his exit from last Sunday's win over the Titans with the brain injury. He's seen his playing time slip in 2023 with the likes of Kylen Granson and Drew Ogletree taking on expanded roles in the Colts' tight-end rotation, but the big-bodied Alie-Cox should still be a candidate for looks in the red zone.

Alie-Cox (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Jacksonville after logging a full practice Friday.
Analysis: Alie-Cox's full participation Friday is encouraging, but it's unclear if he has cleared the league's five-step concussion protocol after being concussed this past Sunday against the Titans. He will need to clear the protocol in order to suit up against Jacksonville and further bolster the depth in a tight end room that also includes Drew Ogletree, Kylen Granson and Will Mallory.

Analysis: Alie-Cox suffered a concussion during the Colts' Week 5 win over the Titans, and he went from no participation in Wednesday's practice to limited work Thursday. The 30-year-old tight end seems to be trending in the right direction to play in this coming Sunday against Jacksonville, but he'll still have to clear the league's five-step protocol before he's cleared to take the field.

Alie-Cox (concussion) did not practice Wednesday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Alie-Cox is working his way through the league's five-step concussion protocol after being forced out of Sunday's win over the Titans. Ruled out for rest of Week 5
Alie-Cox (concussion) has been officially ruled out from returning to Sunday's contest versus the Titans, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Alie-Cox was evaluated for a concussion after banging his head on the turf early in the second half, and he's now been deemed out for the remainder of the contest. Alie-Cox (ankle) was a full participant during practice Thursday.
Analysis: Alie-Cox was a DNP on the Colts' estimated injury report Wednesday, but the 30-year-old didn't face any limitations day later. After scoring his first touchdown of the season in Week 4, he'll work to keep that momentum going Sunday against the Titans.

Misses Wednesday's practice
Alie-Cox was listed as a non-participant Wednesday on the Colts' estimated injury report due to an ankle injury.
Analysis: Alie-Cox secured his first touchdown of the season in Sunday's 29-23 overtime loss to the Rams, but he may have picked up the ankle injury along the way. He'll likely need to get back on the practice field in some capacity Thursday or Friday to have a shot at playing this weekend against the Titans. Alie-Cox is part of a three-man committee at tight end with Kylen Granson and Drew Ogletree, an arrangement that limits the fantasy ceilings of all three players.

Gets first TD of season
Alie-Cox had one reception for a 35-yard touchdown in Sunday's overtime loss to the Rams.
Analysis: It was just Alie-Cox's second reception of the season as he's become a minor factor in the passing game. Although he and Drew Ogletree were the starters in a two-tight end set over Kylen Granson, Alie-Cox played on just 17 of the offense's 64 snaps and went out on four routes.

Gets first reception of season
Alie-Cox had one reception for 15 yards on his only target in Sunday's win at Houston.
Analysis: Cox got his first reception after failing to catch one of two targets in Week 1. Kylen Granson led Colts tight ends in snaps with 37 (compared to 23 snaps for Alie-Cox and 11 for Will Mallory) and his routes run also comfortably outpaced Alie-Cox (10) and Mallory (seven) in that category. Alie-Cox remains mostly a blocking tight end in the offense who may get a rare red-zone target due to his height (6-foot-7).

Analysis: Alie-Cox entered 2022 as a potential sleeper tight end and red-zone target, but his production declined in almost every area. He had just 19 receptions for 189 yards and three touchdowns. Alie-Cox failed to secure his lone target in Sunday's 38-10 loss to the Giants.
Analysis: Alie-Cox was a complete nonfactor Sunday while playing 31 of the Colts' 58 offensive snaps. Meanwhile, rookie tight end Jelani Woods was on the field for 35 snaps and saw four targets. The veteran continues to see his opportunities shrink with the emergence of Woods on offense. Despite his limited usage, Alie-Cox will look to bounce back when the Colts host the Texans in Week 18.

Minimal role in passing attack
Alie-Cox caught one of two targets for two yards during Monday's 20-3 defeat versus the Chargers.
Analysis: Alie-Cox saw 10 fewer snaps than Jelani Woods, and the former failed to make an impact in the passing game again. Woods, a rookie third-round pick, has caught 14 of 19 targets for 205 yards over his past four games and appears to have surpassed Alie-Cox on the depth chart. Alie-Cox did not have a reception on one target in Saturday's overtime loss at Minnesota.
Analysis: Alie-Cox played more snaps and ran more routes than Jelani Woods and Kylen Granson, but was a distant third in the passing game. Loses fumble on lone reception
Alie-Cox had one reception for six yards on his lone target but lost a fumble in Sunday's loss to Dallas.
Analysis: Kylen Granson started at tight end and played more snaps than Alie-Cox (41 to 31). Alie-Cox was also third in routes run among the tight ends, as Granson had 22 and Jelani Woods had 12, compared to Alie-Cox's 10. Alie-Cox had two receptions for 14 yards on three targets in Monday's loss to Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Alie-Cox got the start at tight end and played 22 snaps on offense, but was outperformed by rookie Jelani Woods, who had eight receptions for 98 yards on 39 snaps. Alie-Cox went without a target while playing 36 of the Colts' 59 snaps on offense in Sunday's 25-20 win over the Raiders.
Analysis: Even though he benefited from a slight boost in playing time with one member of the Colts' three-man tight-end committee out of the lineup in Jelani Woods (shoulder), Alie-Cox couldn't come through with any useful numbers. The bulk of Alie-Cox's fantasy production for the season came Week 3, when he scored two touchdowns and caught six passes for 85 yards. Analysis: Alie-Cox had his first reception since Week 5 as he had just one catch and two targets in his previous five games. While Alie-Cox got the start at tight end, Kylen Granson had the most snaps on offense (32, compared to 29 for Alie-Cox), and all three tight ends went out on about the same number of routes (12, compared 13 for Alie-Cox and 10 for Jelani Woods). Analysis: That's two concecutive games where Alie-Cox hasn't had a target even though he's playing about the same as the other tight ends. Alie-Cox ran 15 routes compaired to 18 for Kylen Granson and 14 for Jelani Woods. None of the three was a factor Sunday with a combined two receptions and three targets. Two touchdowns against Titans
Alie-Cox recorded six receptions on six targets for 85 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Titans.
Analysis: Alie-Cox entered Sunday's game having tallied only four catches for 44 yards across the first three games of the season. However, he emerged to lead Indianapolis' pass catchers in receptions and yards, highlighted by touchdown grabs of 14 and seven yards. Alie-Cox also recorded the Colts' second-longest play from scrimmage. Matt Ryan distributed targets to a wider range of receivers against the Titans, and if that continues, Alie-Cox is a candidate to see sustained increased production.

Just one reception
Alie-Cox had one reception for nine yards on three targets in Sunday's win over Kansas City.
Analysis: Alie-Cox's role on the offense continues to shrink even though he played the most snaps and ran the most routes of Indy's tight ends (Alie-Cox with 42 snaps compared to 16 for Jelani Woods and 30 for Kylen Granson). He already was splitting time with Granson in terms of targets and routes, but then Woods caught two touchdowns Sunday. Alie-Cox's 6-foot-5 height looked set to make him a primary red-zone target of Matt Ryan, but he may have been supplanted by the 6-foot-7 Woods in that role as…read more

Meager receiving role again
Cox had one reception for nine yards on three targets in Sunday's loss at Jacksonville.
Analysis: It was another bad game for Alie-Cox's outlook in the offense. He wasn't on the field to begin the game in favor of Kylen Granson. Alie-Cox played the same number of snaps as Granson (27) and went out on fewer routes (20 to 17), though Alie-Cox did have three targets compared to Granson's two. It looks like Alie-Cox isn't even the top tight end in the passing offense, though neither player is getting a lot of action.

Just two targets in season opener
Alie-Cox had two receptions for 26 yards on two targets in Sunday's tie at Houston.
Analysis: Alie-Cox played on 50 of the offense's 92 snaps but went out for a pass on just 20 snaps. He started at tight end but played fewer snaps than Kylen Granson (51) and went out on fewer pass routes (30-20). Alie-Cox still could be a big factor in the red zone given he's 6-foot-5, but his lack of targets in a game where Matt Ryan attempted 50 passes is discouraging.

No catches in preseason finale
Alie-Cox failed to bring in his only target in the Colts' 27-10 preseason win over the Buccaneers on Saturday night.
Analysis: Alie-Cox's lackluster preseason ended with a thud Saturday night, calling into question how snaps might be divided at tight end for the Colts come the regular season. Alie-Cox appeared set to lose some playing time to rookie Andrew Ogletree prior to the latter's season-ending knee injury, but second-year pro Kylen Granson and rookie third-round pick Jelani Woods could be threats as well beginning with the Week 1 divisional road matchup against the Texans on Sept. 11.

Starts first preseason game
Alie-Cox started Saturday's 27-24 preseason loss to the Bills but did not tally a stat.
Analysis: Alie-Cox started along with fellow skill-position players Nyheim Hines, Michael Pittman, Alec Pierce and Parris Campbell. Alie-Cox didn't earn a target but was on the field regularly and appears to have a clear grip on the top spot of the tight end depth chart. Alie-Cox tallied a career-high four touchdowns in 2021 and could serve as a favorite target of Matt Ryan near the end zone in 2022.

Back at practice
Alie-Cox (knee) returned to practice Tuesday, Zak Keefer of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: He suffered the injury Saturday but is now back at practice three days later. The Colts mostly have used Alie-Cox as a blocker (and sometimes a goal-line threat) to this point in his career, but he could take on a larger role this season with Jack Doyle having retired and the competition for snaps coming from young, untested players (2021 fourth-round pick Kylen Granson and 2022 third-rounder Jelani Woods).

Alie-Cox tweaked his left knee during Saturday's practice and was not able to finish the session, 107.5 Indianapolis reports.
Analysis: The injury isn't thought to be serious. He was able to stay in for another play after hurting his knee and later left. With Jack Doyle's retirement, Alie-Cox is poised to be the team's top tight end and his target share and red-zone usage could increase significantly.

Re-ups with Colts for three years
Alie-Cox agreed Monday to re-sign with the Colts on a three-year, $18 million deal, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The 6-foot-5, 267-pound Alie-Cox has proven not only to be a serviceable blocker since joining the Colts as an undrafted rookie in 2017, but he's also used his big frame and athleticism to become a reliable threat in the red zone. Two receptions in season finale
Alie-Cox had two receptions for 27 yards on three targets in Sunday's loss at Jacksonville.
Analysis: Alie-Cox had 24 receptions for 316 yards and four touchdowns on 45 targets while playing all 17 games this season. It looked like he was going to become a larger factor in the offense, but he had just four receptions in a seven-game stretch in the middle of the year. He's set to become a free agent and could have a significant role in 2022 if re-signed, as Jack Doyle is contemplating retirement.

Earns five targets
Alie-Cox recorded three receptions on five targets for 28 yards in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Raiders.
Analysis: Alie-Cox matched his highest target total of the season, though he wasn't able to deliver major production with the opportunity. He did manage a pair of double-digit gains that went for 17 and 10 yards. Though Jack Doyle was active after dealing with ankle and knee issues throughout the week, he may have suited up at less than full strength. If that remains the case for a Week 18 matchup against Jacksonville, Alie-Cox could maintain some increased volume.

Two catches in win
Alie-Cox caught two of his four targets for 42 yards during Saturday's 22-16 win over the Cardinals.
Analysis: Jack Doyle (ankle, knee) played just two offensive snaps before leaving the game with a pair of injuries. His absence opened the door for Alie-Cox to record his most receptions since Week 7 and his most receiving yards since Week 5. If Doyle is unable to play in Week 17, then Alie-Cox could be a viable streaming option against the Raiders on Sunday.

One catch for zero yards
Alie-Cox catch his only target for zero yards during Sunday's 31-0 win over the Texans.
Analysis: Over his last four games, Alie-Cox has recorded three catches for just 14 yards. Jack Doyle appears to have a firm grasp on the No. 1 tight end spot in Indianapolis, so it may be difficult for Alie-Cox to garner fantasy relevance again this season.

Alie-Cox secured one of two targets for eight yards in Sunday's 38-31 loss to the Buccaneers.

No receptions Sunday
Alie-Cox failed to catch his only target in Sunday's win at Buffalo.
Analysis: While his lack of production was mostly due to game script (Indy attempted just 20 passes amid 264 yards rushing), it's also the fourth consecutive game in which he's had less of a role in the passing game than Jack Doyle (three receptions at Buffalo). The Indy passing game should be more active next week against Tampa Bay, but Alie-Cox needs to show more consistency before he can be trusted in most fantasy formats.

Analysis: Alie-Cox played on 35 of the offense's 64 snaps but went out for a pass on just 17 snaps. While he ran slightly fewer routes than usual, it was also a game where the Colts emphasized the run. Still, it looked like Alie-Cox was emerging as the top tight end in the passing game over Jack Doyle, but Doyle has six receptions and two touchdowns in the last three games compared to two receptions and no touchdowns for Alie-Cox. No receptions Sunday
Alie-Cox did not have a reception despite four targets in Sunday's 34-31 overtime loss to Tennessee.
Analysis: Alie-Cox played on 39 of the offense's 80 snaps and went out for a pass on 25 plays, both about his season average. It was Jack Doyle who had a touchdown catch in the loss despite Alie-Cox having four touchdowns in his last four games. Still, there wasn't a significant change in either tight end's workload, so we wouldn't be too worried about his lack of receptions. Alie-Cox is a red-zone threat, but his upside is limited given his low target share.

Alie-Cox caught all three targets for 25 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 30-18 win over the 49ers.
Analysis: Alie-Cox contributed his fourth touchdown over the past four weeks, and he has quickly established himself as one of Carson Wentz's favorite red-zone targets. The veteran tight end doesn't bring a ton of upside to the table while splitting time with Jack Doyle, but he could be used in a pinch for those needing help at the position while he maintains this scoring hot streak.

Alie-Cox caught three of four targets for 50 yards in Monday night's 31-25 overtime loss to the Ravens.
Analysis: Alie-Cox couldn't follow up his two-touchdown outing in Week 4 with another score, but he at least caught three passes for the second straight game while posting his highest yardage total this season. Although he's a complementary target within the Colts offense, Cox has made enough plays the past couple weeks to boost his fantasy stock ahead of a Week 6 matchup against the Texans.

Alie-Cox had one reception on two targets for 18 yards in Sunday's loss to the Rams.
Analysis: Alie-Cox saw significantly less playing time than in Week 1, as he played just 27 snaps compared to 49 snaps for Jack Doyle, whereas the two were about equal in snaps last week. Alie-Cox at least had a reception after failing to make a catch in the season opener. Gets start at tight end
Cox started at tight end and didn't have a reception on his lone target in Saturday's preseason win at Minnesota.
Analysis: Cox got the start at tight end with Jack Doyle sitting out. While Cox didn't show much on offense, he proved he's healthy after missing two weeks of practice due to a knee injury. Alie-Cox (knee) returned to practice Tuesday, George Bremer of The Anderson Herald Bulletin reports.
Analysis: After missing about two weeks of practice, Alie-Cox should have time to prep for an appearance in one or both of the Colts' remaining preseason games. He's competing for snaps in what could be a committee at tight end, with Jack Doyle and rookie Kylen Granson being the main competition for snaps/targets. Alie-Cox produced 394 yards on 39 targets last season, but the Colts seem to value his blocking and in-line work as much as, or more than, his athleticism.

Dealing with knee injury
Alie-Cox sat out practice Wednesday with a knee injury, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Analysis: The tight end didn't participate in the session, but he attended practice as an observer, suggesting the injury isn't too serious. Alie-Cox, Jack Doyle and Kylen Granson are competing for tight end snaps, after Doyle and Alie-Cox shared the position with Trey Burton in 2020. Alie-Cox doesn't have an obvious path to more than three or four targets per game, but he made a good impression last season with 394 receiving yards on only 39 targets (10.1 YPT).

Analysis: Cox will return to the Colts on a one-year deal in 2021 as a result of this move. He caught 31 passes for 394 yards and two touchdowns as part of a deep tight end room last season but could play a more prominent role alongside Jack Doyle this season with Trey Burton now a free agent.

Alie-Cox received a second-round tender from the Colts on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The 27-year-old is a restricted free agent, and the Colts clearly want to retain him for 2021. Alie-Cox caught 31 passes for 394 yards and two touchdowns in 15 games last season. Any interested team would need to give up a second-round pick in order to sign Alie-Cox to an offer sheet, so he's likely to remain in Indianapolis.

Analysis: The VCU standout banged up his knee during Indianapolis' Week 14 triumph over the Raiders. Though he was ultimately able to return and round out his workload at 20 offensive snaps, back-to-back practice DNPs shed doubt on the likelihood of Alie-Cox suiting up Sunday against the Texans. Analysis: Alie-Cox out-snapped both Jack Doyle and Trey Burton for a second straight week, logging 44 snaps on offense (64 percent). That hasn't translated into much production though. In fact, he hasn't caught more than three passes or produced more than 50 yards in a game since his Week 2 breakout against the Vikings, when he posted a 5-111-0 line. Analysis: Alie-Cox was out there for 38 of the offense's 74 snaps. He played the most snaps among the Indy tight ends, but he had fewer targets than Trey Burton (three receptions on six targets, including a touchdown). Alie-Cox (knee) is listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated injury report.
Analysis: Alie-Cox managed to play through his lingering knee injury during Sunday's loss to the Ravens, during which he caught all three of his targets for 43 yards, so it's easy to imagine that the Colts simply intend to allow the tight end a bit of rest on a short week. With Jack Doyle (concussion) trending in the wrong direction for Thursday's game in Tennessee, Alie-Cox could find himself handling increased opportunities alongside Trey Burton as long as he's able to suit up.

Cleared for Week 9
Alie-Cox (knee) is active Week 9 against Baltimore.
Analysis: Alie-Cox returned to action following the team's Week 7 bye, playing 32 snaps and seeing four targets -- his second-highest total of the season -- in that contest. The knee troubles did resurface a bit in practice this week, and he was held out of Thursday's session as a precaution. Alie-Cox will ultimately get clearance to suit up, but with both Jack Doyle and Trey Burton active as well, there will be a crowded position group contending for targets.

Questionable after limited practice
Alie-Cox (knee) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens.
Analysis: Alie-Cox logged limited participation in practices Wednesday and Friday and sat out Thursday's session entirely. Even if he plays this weekend, Alie-Cox could be at less than 100 percent health, and he'll be competing for snaps at tight end with Jack Doyle and Trey Burton.

Limited in practice
Alie-Cox (knee) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Alie-Cox managed to play through his lingering knee issue during Sunday's win over the Lions, so barring any setbacks, he should be good for Week 9. Fellow tight ends Jack Doyle and Trey Burton both scored versus Detroit, while Alie-Cox was limited to just three catches (on four targets) for 37 yards.

Three catches in return
Alie-Cox (knee) caught three of four targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 41-21 win over the Lions.
Analysis: Alie-Cox led Colts tight ends in receiving yards but was kept out of the end zone while both Jack Doyle and Trey Burton found pay dirt, giving Doyle and Burton a combined five touchdowns in the past two weeks. Even though he was the most productive of the three tight ends when healthy earlier this season, Alie-Cox will have a hard time carving out value in the Colts' three-man tight end rotation if he plays second fiddle in the red zone.

Returning to action Sunday
Alie-Cox (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Lions.
Analysis: Though Alie-Cox's availability came down to a pregame workout, the Colts were evidently pleased enough with the health of his knee to clear him to rejoin the lineup. Since erupting for a five-catch, 111-yard performance Week 2, Alie-Cox has been limited to four receptions for 63 yards in his most recent three outings combined. He'll likely be limited to a bit role in the Colts' passing game with both Trey Burton and Jack Doyle seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order for reps at tight end.

Status hinges on pregame warmup
The Colts are optimistic that Alie-Cox (knee) will play Sunday against the Lions, but he'll be put through a pregame workout before the team determines his status, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Alie-Cox is listed as questionable for the Week 8 contest after having been sidelined for the Colts' Week 6 win over the Bengals prior to the team going on bye Week 7. Assuming his knee provides no major complications during his pregame workout, Alie-Cox should avoid the inactive list, which the Colts will release approximately 90 minutes prior to the 1 p.m. ET kickoff. If he dresses for the contest, Alie-Cox will be stuck in a timeshare at tight end with Trey Burton and Jack Doyle.

Questionable for Week 8
Alie-Cox (knee) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions, Zak Keefer of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Alie-Cox hasn't suited up since Week 5 in Cleveland, but it looks like he has a fair shot to take the field against Detroit. With fellow tight ends Jack Doyle and Trey Burton both healthy, Alie-Cox could be relegated to a limited role even if he does manage to play Sunday.

Analysis: We'll have to see if Alie-Cox heads into the weekend listed as questionable, but his fantasy upside is limited as long as fellow tight ends Jack Doyle and Trey Burton are both available.

Still not practicing
Alie-Cox (knee) didn't practice Wednesday.
Analysis: Alie-Cox had the Week 7 bye to rest up, but he still hasn't progressed enough in his recovery to resume practicing. If he's forced to miss Sunday's game in Detroit, Jack Doyle and Trey Burton will split the reps at tight end.

Won't play against Bengals
Alie-Cox (knee) has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Bengals, Andrew Walker of the Colts' official site reports.
Analysis: With Alie-Cox out, Jack Doyle and Trey Burton should both benefit from extra snaps at the tight end position against Cincinnati. The Colts will be on bye in Week 7, giving Alie-Cox two weeks to heal up before a Week 8 road tilt in Detroit.

Misses another session
Alie-Cox (knee) did not practice Thursday, George Bremer of The Anderson Herald Bulletin reports.
Analysis: Alie-Cox has now missed back-to-back practices, putting his availability for Sunday's contest against the Bengals in jeopardy. If Alie-Cox isn't able to take a substantial step forward in Friday's final practice of the week, the Colts will proceed forward with just Trey Burton and Jack Doyle as starters at tight end.

Starts week with missed practice
Alie-Cox (knee) isn't practicing Wednesday, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
Analysis: This isn't a good start to the week for Alie-Cox, who picked up a knee injury in Sunday's loss to the Browns while also failing to record a catch. With Trey Burton and Jack Coyle back in action after previously missing time with injuries earlier this season, Alie-Cox likely won't be in store for a significant amount of snaps and targets if he shakes off the injury in time for this weekend's game versus the Bengals.

Nursing knee injury
Coach Frank Reich said Monday that Alie-Cox will be monitored in practice due to a knee injury, Andrew Walker of the Colts' official site reports.
Analysis: Alie-Cox was held catchless during Sunday's 32-23 loss to the Browns (one target), and he appears to have picked up a knee injury during the affair. That the big-bodied tight end looks set to be evaluated in practice is at least a hint that his injury may not be significant, but an official update on Alie-Cox's health may not come until Indianapolis' first practice report of the week is released Wednesday.

Goes catchless in loss
Alie-Cox failed to haul in his lone target Sunday in the Colts' 32-23 loss to the Browns.
Analysis: Following his six-catch, 111-yard outing Week 2, Alie-Cox remained useful for fantasy managers in the subsequent two weeks, but his production mostly came on the back of touchdowns in both of those games rather than steady target volume. After failing to reach the end zone Sunday, Alie-Cox's fantasy utility unsurprisingly eroded entirely, and more games like these could be on the docket for the 27-year-old in the weeks to come. Scores another TD
Alie-Cox had one reception for a 13-yard touchdown on two targets in Sunday's win over Chicago.
Analysis: With injuries at wide receiver -- Parris Campbell and Michael Pittman are on IR -- the Colts utilized three tight ends in the passing game against the Bears. Alie-Cox was a starter in a two-TE set with Jack Doyle. Alie-Cox played 33 of the offense's 72 snaps with Doyle playing 45 snaps and Trey Burton playing 36 snaps. Finds end zone in win
Alie-Cox caught all three of his targets for 52 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 36-7 win over the Jets.
Analysis: The Colts' passing game wasn't needed much in the big win, but Alie-Cox made his mark early with a one-yard TD catch in the second quarter for Indy's first offensive score. Even with Jack Doyle active, Alie-Cox had his second straight productive game, and the athletic third-year tight end could be emerging as one of Philip Rivers' favorite targets. He'll look to keep rolling in Week 4 against a Bears defense that's allowed a TE to find the end zone in two of three games to begin the season.

Excels in starting role
Alie-Cox caught five of six targets for 111 yards during Sunday's 28-11 win over the Vikings.
Analysis: Alie-Cox stepped in for Jack Doyle (ankle) and led the team in receiving yards by a comfortable margin. He had the team's longest gain of the day -- a beautiful 33-yard reception -- and tied for the team lead in targtes. Alie-Cox's performance should earn him a role in the offense once Doyle is healthy enough to return, but with many other mouths to feed in the Colts offense, he shouldn't command an abundance of targets every week. His next outing will come Sunday against the Jets.

Opportunity knocks
Alie-Cox is expected to be the Colts' No. 1 TE in Week 2 against the Vikings following news that Jack Doyle (ankle) has been ruled out, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Analysis: Head coach Frank Reich expressed his confidence in Alie-Cox to fill into this role, which is crucial in the Colts' TE-centric scheme. The 6-foot-5, 267-pound TE has experience, as he averaged 22.3 snaps per game in 2019, and he caught two passes for 20 yards against the Jaguars this past Sunday. Alie-Cox is an intriguing DFS tournament play, and the TD upside makes him viable in deeper season-long leagues.

Two receptions Sunday
Alie-Cox had two receptions for 20 yards on two targets in Sunday's loss at Jacksonville.
Analysis: He played on 29 of the offense's 74 snaps, as he'll work as the No. 2 tight end while Trey Burton is on IR with a calf injury. While Alie-Cox will play a small role in the passing offense, he only blocked on one of the 21 passing plays he was on the field for.

The Colts activated Alie-Cox (undisclosed) from the active/PUP list Friday.
Analysis: It's still unclear what Alie-Cox was dealing with, but the 26-year-old tight end will rejoin the team and start preparing for the 2020 season. The Colts let Eric Ebron walk in free agency but brought in Trey Burton, so Alie-Cox is slated to be the No. 3 tight end again this year.

Primed for more work
Coach Frank Reich said Monday that he expects Alie-Cox to garner increased playing time as a blocker and pass catcher in 2020, Andrew Walker of the Colts' official site reports.
Analysis: Alie-Cox is a unique weapon in Indianapolis' tight end corps, boasting a dominating 6-foot-5, 267-pound frame, and he appears to have earned a fan in Reich after spending his the last two seasons developing with the Colts. Analysis: Alie-Cox caught his only target for 15 yards in the season finale and finished 2019 with eight catches for 93 yards while mostly working as a reserve tight end. Snags pass in win
Alie-Cox reeled in his only target for a 21-yard catch during Sunday's 38-6 win over Carolina.
Analysis: Alie-Cox's grab helped set up Marlon Mack's second-quarter touchdown plunge, but it was just his second catch since Week 9. The sophomore tight end has just one game with multiple receptions this season, way back in Week 3 against Atlanta. He hasn't seen an uptick in production since Eric Ebron (ankle) headed to injured reserve and it'd be a surprise if he broke out against Jacksonville's 20th-ranked pass defense in the season finale Sunday.

Just one reception Sunday
Alie-Cox had one reception for eight yards on his lone target in Sunday's loss at Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Indianapolis didn't use many two-TE sets in a shootout with Alie-Cox getting just 16 snaps and Ross Travis having five snaps behind Jack Doyle (49 snaps). It doesn't look like Alie-Cox or Travis will be big factors in the passing game even with Eric Ebron on IR with an ankle injury and several other wide receivers sidelined.

No receptions Sunday
Alie-Cox played 15 snaps on offense but did not have a reception or target in Sunday's loss to Tennessee.
Analysis: With Eric Ebron out with an ankle injury and several other wide receivers sidelined, Alie-Cox appeared poised for a larger role in the offense. However, Ross Travis got the start as the second TE opposite Jack Doyle and had three targets and more pass routes run (12 compared to three for Alie-Cox). Alie-Cox battled a thumb injury during practices last week, but it looks like Travis may get looks over him in the passing game despite Alie-Cox previously showing promise as a receiver.

Still dealing with thumb injury
Alie-Cox (thumb) didn't practice Wednesday, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
Analysis: This appears to be routine recovery for Alie-Cox, who suffered this injury Week 11 but was able to play in last Thursday's loss to the Texans. It'll be important to follow Alie-Cox's progress, though, as he could be depended on for more pass-catching situations following Eric Ebron's (ankle) move to injured reserve.

Set for increased role
Alie-Cox may have the opportunity to carve out a larger role on offense with Eric Ebron (ankle) set to land on injured reserve, George Bremer of The Anderson Herald Bulletin reports.
Analysis: The 26-year-old has mostly been utilized as a blocker this season, having logged just five catches for 49 yards across 245 offensive snaps, but in Ebron's absence his role could expand. Alie-Cox's frame (6-foot-5, 267 pounds) suggests he could be effective in the end zone, though Jack Doyle figures to handle the bulk of receiving work at the tight end position for Indianapolis.

Questionable for TNF
Alie-Cox (thumb) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice but is considered questionable for Thursday's game against the Texans.
Analysis: Considering he wasn't limited in practice, Alie-Cox has a good shot to suit up for the divisional clash. The 26-year-old could have a heightened role in the offensive if Eric Ebron (ankle) is unable to play, but he'd still be behind Jack Doyle in the pecking order.

Analysis: After an estimated DNP on Monday, it's a good sign that Alie-Cox was at least able to get some work in Tuesday. With Eric Ebron (ankle) sitting out for a second-straight day, the Virginia Commonwealth product could be in line for more work Thursday against the Texans.

Alie-Cox (thumb) was estimated as a non-participant on Monday's injury report.
Analysis: Alie-Cox sustained the thumb injury during Sunday's win over the Jaguars and was unable to retake the field, so it's no major surprise to see he wasn't expected to practice one day later. Questionable for Sunday
Alie-Cox (hip) is listed as quesitonable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Andrew Walker of the Colts' official site reports.

Alie-Cox (hip) was not spotted at Thursday's practice, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
Analysis: Alie-Cox hasn't practiced in any capacity this week, and he looks to be trending toward missing Sunday's tilt against Jacksonville. With Eric Ebron fully healthy and Jack Doyle (shoulder) having returned to practice Thursday, even if Alie-Cox were forced to miss any time, it wouldn't be a tremendous loss for the Colts' offense. Injury concerns surface
Alie-Cox (hip) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Alie-Cox has averaged 22.4 offensive snaps per game, and he mainly works in a blocking role, posting just five receptions for 49 scoreless yards. Jack Doyle (shoulder) also sat out of practice, so the Colts only have one healthy tight end -- Eric Ebron -- remaining. Catchless in loss
Alie-Cox was unable to bring in his only target of Sunday's 16-12 loss to Miami.
Analysis: The Colts were shocked by the Dolphins as Brian Hoyer got the start over Jacoby Brissett (knee). Brissett's status for Sunday against the Jaguars is undetermined, but it's unlikely that Alie-Cox will not get enough targets for it to matter much either way. The sophomore tight end has been targeted multiple times just twice this season and only twice since Week 5. Keep him on the shelf.

Catches lone target
Alie-Cox caught his only target for an 11-yard gain during Sunday's 26-24 loss to Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Alie-Cox's reception on the first play of the second half was his first in four weeks. The Colts coughed up a halftime lead despite a solid performance by Brian Hoyer in relief of Jacoby Brissett (knee). Brissett is reportedly optimistic that he can come back for Sunday's game against a middle-of-the-road Miami pass defense. Given Alie-Cox's minimal usage this season, with just seven targets in 2019, the VCU product probably won't get much action no matter who is at quarterback.
