Not interested in New England
Vedvik declined an invite to work out for the Patriots, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The Patriots placed Stephen Gostkowski (hip) on injured reserve Wednesday since he'll require season-ending surgery, so they're actively searching for a replacement. Vedvik isn't interested, however, as he's working to improve his punting and kickoffs after getting cut by the Jets on Sept. 10.

Cut by New York
The Jets waived Vedvik on Tuesday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Vedvik received his walking papers just two days after he failed to convert two kicks -- a 45-yard field goal and an extra-point attempt -- in a 17-16 loss to the Bills. The 25-year-old will now exit his third organization in a month after being traded from the Ravens to the Vikings on Aug. 11 before getting waived by Minnesota at the conclusion of the preseason. The Jets signed Sam Ficken on Tuesday to assume the vacant kicking job.

Competition on tap
The Jets intend to hold a kicking tryout Tuesday, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports.
Analysis: Vedvik failed to convert a kick during Sunday's loss to the Bills, missing a 45-yard field goal and an extra-point try. The 25-year-old failed to carve out a role in Minnesota during training camp after the Vikings acquired him from the Ravens, and he now finds himself in danger of parting ways with the Jets.

On hot seat after Week 1 misses
Vedvik missed a 45-yard field goal and a PAT, failing to make a kick in Sunday's 17-16 loss to the Bills.
Analysis: Vedvik wasn't particularly close on either of his kicks, and the Jets opted to go for two after their second touchdown of the game rather than give Vedvik another attempt at a PAT. The 25-year-old Norwegian has undeniable talent, but he may not be long for a job in the NFL if he doesn't right the ship immediately.

Lands kicking job
The Jets waived kicker Taylor Bertolet on Sunday, while replacing him by the signing of Vedvik.
Analysis: Barring another move by the team to address the position, Vedvik -- who can also punt -- will head into Week 1 as the team's kicker. It's a bold move for the Jets, especially given Vedvik's struggles during his recent stint with the Vikings.

Claimed by Jets
Vedvik was claimed off waivers by the Jets on Sunday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Vedvik joins the Jets after being waived by the Vikings on Friday. The Jets have had a question mark at kicker ever since Chandler Catanzaro suddenly retired during the preseason. Sunday's transaction suggests Taylor Bertolet is likely to be cut, leaving Vedvik as the Jets' placekicker for Week 1 against Buffalo.

Let go Saturday
Vedvik was waived by the Vikings on Saturday, Tom Pelissero of NFL.com reports.
Analysis: The dual punter/kicker, who the Vikings traded a fifth-round pick to the Ravens for earlier in training camp, ultimately wasn't able to find a role with the team at either spot. Given Vedvik's versatility it's possible another team might end up claiming him, but it's more likely the 25-year-old will simply end up on the Vikings' practice squad.

Misses both field-goal attempts
Vedvik missed both his field-goal attempts in Saturday's win over Arizona, from 43 and 54 yards.
Analysis: It doesn't sound like Vedvik is going to win Minnesota's placekicking role, but he could still emerge as the team's punter. It's still possible he could emerge with both jobs, but that seems like a longshot. Still, Minnesota's kicking situation is unsettled heading into the final preseason week.
