Opens week as DNP
Bryant (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Bryant was sidelined for the Raiders' Week 11 loss to the Dolphins due to an ankle injury, so Wednesday's DNP comes as no surprise. He likely needs to get back on the field in a limited capacity either Thursday or Friday in order to suit up for Las Vegas' Week 12 matchup against the Broncos. If Bryant is unable to do so, expect Justin Shorter to serve as the Raiders' No. 3 tight end.

Won't play Week 11
Bryant (ankle) did not practice Friday and has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
Analysis: Bryant was able to practice in a limited capacity Thursday, but his ankle injury was serious enough to prevent him from seeing the field Friday, and the 2020 fourth-round pick will be sidelined Sunday for the second time this season. With Bryant sidelined, Justin Shorter will serve as the Raiders' No. 2 tight end behind rookie starter Brock Bowers.

Able to practice Thursday
Bryant (ankle) was a limited practice participant Thursday, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Bryant suffered an ankle injury in Week 9 against the Bengals, and even with the Raiders coming off a Week 10 bye, the issue kept him off the practice field Wednesday. His ability to return Thursday indicates he's progressing through the issue, and if he can practice Friday, he'll give himself a shot at playing against Miami on Sunday. Over his last three games, Bryant has logged seven catches (on nine targets) for 65 yards.

Opens week as DNP
Bryant (ankle) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: It appears Bryant is still dealing with the ankle injury sustained in the Raiders' Week 9 loss to the Bengals, despite having a Week 10 bye. The 26-year-old tight end likely needs to upgrade to at least limited participation Thursday or Friday in order to take the field in Week 11, when the Raiders face the Dolphins. If he's unable to do so, expect Justin Shorter to serve as Las Vegas' No. 2 tight end Sunday.

Leaves with ankle injury
Bryant exited Sunday's contest against the Bengals with an ankle injury and is questionable to return.
Analysis: Prior to leaving, Bryant caught both of his targets in the passing game for 22 yards. Justin Shorter is next up on the depth chart at tight end behind Brock Bowers.

Cleared for Week 9
Bryant (elbow) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Cincinnati.
Analysis: Bryant has filled in for Michael Mayer (NFI - personal) as the in-line/blocking TE since September, with John Samuel Shenker then getting more playing time when Bryant missed Week 8. It's not a role with much fantasy appeal, but Bryant's return may cost Brock Bowers a few snaps/routes.

Limited in practice
Bryant (elbow) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Bryant misses Las Vegas' loss to the Chiefs in Week 8 due to an elbow injury, so it's encouraging to see him back on the practice field in at least a limited capacity. He'll work to gain clearance in time for Sunday's road matchup against the Bengals, with the target of working as a complement to rookie phenom Brock Bowers.

Modest numbers through seven games
Bryant (elbow), who was inactive for Sunday's loss to the Chiefs, has seven catches (on 10 targets) for 64 yards through seven games this season.
Analysis: Rookie sensation Brock Bowers has dominated the Raiders' TE group to date, hauling in 52 of 65 targets for 535 yards and one touchdown in eight contests. Meanwhile, Bryant ranks second to Bowers at the position in all receiving categories. Bryant wasn't able to practice last week, so Wednesday's session may set the tone for the fifth-year pro's chances of returning in Week 9.

Not suiting up Sunday
Bryant (elbow) is inactive for Sunday's Week 8 clash against Kansas City.
Analysis: Bryant hurt his elbow last Sunday against the Rams and wasn't able to practice at all this week. As such, it's not surprising that he won't be able to play in the AFC West battle versus the Chiefs on Sunday. John Samuel Shenker figures to move into the No. 2 tight-end role behind Brock Bowers.

Questionable for Week 8
Bryant (elbow) did not practice Friday but is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Bryant injured his elbow during the Raiders' Week 7 loss to the Rams. Given that he hasn't practiced all week, Bryant is likely leaning on the negative side of questionable ahead of Sunday's game. Nevertheless, official word of his status may not be known until the Raiders' inactive list is announced approximately 90 minutes before the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. If Bryant cannot play, John Samuel Shenker would step up as the Raiders' backup tight end behind rookie first-rounder Brock Bowers.

Misses practice Wednesday
Bryant (elbow) did not participate at the Raiders' practice Wednesday, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Bryant is nursing an elbow injury to open the week, forcing him to sit out the team's first practice session ahead of Sunday's matchup with Kansas City. The tight end will have two more chances to return to the field this week in order to avoid an injury designation for Week 8.

Dealing with elbow injury
Bryant is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Rams due to an elbow injury.
Analysis: Bryant suffered the injury during the second half of Sunday's game, and he was taken to the locker room after being checked out by trainers on the sideline. If his day is done, he'll finish with two catches on as many targets for 19 yards. John Samuel Shenker and Justin Shorter will see more backup tight end snaps behind starter Brock Bowers as long as Bryant is sidelined.

Targeted five times Sunday
Bryant caught three of five targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 32-13 loss to the Steelers.
Analysis: Bryant was doubled up in targets by fellow tight end Brock Bowers, who turned his 10 looks into nine catches for 71 yards, but Bryant drew more attention from quarterback Aidan O'Connell than any individual Raider wideout with Davante Adams (hamstring) and Jakobi Meyers (ankle) sidelined. In the immediate future, Bryant will continue to operate as the team's No. 2 option at tight end after Michael Mayer (personal) was placed on the reserve/non-football illness list this past week.

Pair of receptions in victory
Bryant caught both of his targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 20-16 win over the Browns.
Analysis: Bryant filled in for the sidelined Michael Mayer (personal) as the No. 2 tight end behind rookie Brock Bowers, but Bryant actually matched Bower's two receptions despite seeing one fewer target. Bryant could see a similar level of involvement against the Broncos in Week 5 if Mayer remains out.

Signs one-year deal with Vegas
Bryant agreed Wednesday with the Raiders on a one-year, $3.25 million contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Bryant is slated to replace Austin Hooper as the the veteran backup to 2023 second-round draft pick Michael Mayer (toe) in Las Vegas. After exceeding 200 receiving yards in each of his first three seasons in the NFL, Bryant had just 81 yards with the Browns in the 2023 regular season despite suiting up for all 17 games.

Saves best game for playoffs
Bryant caught four of six targets for 64 yards in Saturday's 45-14 wild-card playoff loss to Houston.
Analysis: Bryant had his best game of the season in the playoff loss, nearly equaling the receiving yards he had in 17 regular-season games. The tight end recorded 13 catches on 20 targets for 81 yards and three touchdowns in 2023. This was the season that starter David Njoku made an evolutionary leap, which rendered Bryant to career lows in catches, targets and yards while fighting for tight end scraps with Jordan Akins. Likely to start Week 18
Bryant was spotted warming up as Cleveland's starting tight end ahead of Sunday's game against the Bengals, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Though top tight end David Njoku is active for the contest, he and several other Browns starters are expected to be rested for all or most of the Week 18 contest while Cleveland is already locked in as the No. 5 seed in the AFC playoffs. Given that Njoku wasn't warming up with the first-team offense, he looks like he's being viewed as more of an emergency option Sunday while Bryant and Jordan Akins play nearly all the snaps at tight end. Finds end zone in Week 13 loss
Bryant caught all five of his targets for 49 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 36-19 loss to the Rams.
Analysis: Joe Flacco leaned heavily on his tight ends in his first start of the season, but surprisingly it was Bryant who the veteran QB showed the most chemistry with and not David Njoku, who caught only two of six targets for 17 yards. Bryant set new season highs in catches, yards and targets Sunday and has found the end zone in back-to-back games. If Flacco gets another start in Week 14 against the Jaguars, the fourth-year TE will be an intriguing fantasy option.

Scores second TD
Bryant caught his lone target for a two-yard touchdown in Sunday's 29-12 loss to Denver.
Analysis: Bryant lined up in the backfield and found his way to an open space at the goal line to haul in the first career TD pass for quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (concussion). It was Bryant's second touchdown of the season and first since Week 1. He's firmly behind David Njoku in the pecking order at tight end and has just 10 targets through 11 games. Suiting up Sunday
Bryant (hip) is active for Sunday's game against the Bears.
Analysis: Bryant was never able to put in a full practice this week while managing the hip issue, but the Browns saw enough from him to give him the green light for Sunday. He'll likely continue to share backup tight end duties with Jordan Akins, with both players having logged double-digit snaps on offense behind starter David Njoku in three of the Browns' first five games of the season.

Bryant (hip) is expected to play in Sunday's game against the Colts, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Bryant is officially listed as questionable for the contest after he sat out Wednesday's practice due to the hip injury before returning to the field as a limited participant Thursday and Friday. Assuming he's cleared in advance of Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff, Bryant should step back in as the Browns' No. 2 tight end behind starter David Njoku.

Questionable for Sunday
Bryant (hip) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Indianapolis, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Limited run in loss
Bryant caught his lone target for two yards and had one rushing attempt for two yards in Sunday's 28-3 loss to Baltimore.
Analysis: Bryant played a season-low 12 snaps, fewer than third-string tight end Jordan Akins, but usage patterns were skewed due to the blowout nature of the game and rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson being under center instead of Deshaun Watson (shoulder). Bryant was not targeted but had two carries for four yards in Sunday's 27-3 win over Tennessee.
Analysis: Cleveland's first game without running back Nick Chubb (knee) provided rushing opportunities for unlikely players, as Bryant and wide receiver Marquise Goodwin each saw carries. Bryant did not catch either of two targets in Monday's 26-22 loss to Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Bryant was involved in the Browns' ominous first play of the game. Quarterback Deshaun Watson's throw was catchable, if slightly off target, but Bryant couldn't secure the ball and it deflected into the hands of Steelers linebacker Alex Highsmith, who returned it for a touchdown. Bryant caught both of his targets for five yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-3 win over the Bengals in Week 1.
Analysis: Bryant caught quarterback Deshaun Watson's only touchdown pass, a surprising result given the offseason additions to the wideout corps and the presumed focus on a downfield approach to the passing game. Bryant's 27 offensive snaps were second among Browns' tight ends behind David Njoku's 52 and ahead of Jordan Akins' 23. Analysis: As reported by Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Browns signed Akins to a two-year deal Friday. To cover for Njoku on Sunday
Bryant is in line to serve as the Browns' No. 1 tight end Sunday at Houston with David Njoku (knee) ruled out for the contest, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Njoku previously sat out Weeks 8 and 10 due to a sprained left ankle, which allowed Bryant to take on an elevated snap share in those two outings. Still, getting 72 and 76 percent of the offensive plays resulted in only three catches (on three targets) for 15 yards and a touchdown for Bryant during that span. Bryant caught two of two targets for nine yards in Sunday's 23-17 overtime victory over the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Bryant's workload picked up while David Njoku missed two games and was slowed in his return last week from an ankle injury, but the starting tight end was back in form Sunday. Bryant was not targeted among 53 snaps in Monday's 32-13 win over the Bengals in Week 8.
Analysis: Bryant took on the role as the primary tight end, as David Njoku (ankle) was inactive for the game. Njoku is typically a key part of the passing attack, but Bryant wasn't needed for that Monday. In Njoku's absence, Bryant -- who has caught 14 passes (on 21 targets) for 114 yards in seven games to date -- is in line for an uptick in snaps and targets, making him an option for those looking to replace Njoku in Week 8 fantasy lineups.

Analysis: For the third time this season, Bryant recorded 18 receiving yards in a game, and he has no more than 45. His 19 targets are fourth on team, but he could be threatened by Pharaoh Brown, who was signed two weeks ago. Brown played two snaps in his debut last week and moved up to 19 in his second week, while Bryant dropped to a season-low 25 snaps Sunday. Both are playing second fiddle to David Njoku, who is experiencing a breakout season.

Targeted once in loss
Bryant did not catch his lone target in Sunday's 30-28 loss to the Chargers in Week 5.
Analysis: Bryant battled an illness during the week but was on the field for 57 percent of the offensive snaps. It's unlikely the illness had any impact on his targets. The second-string tight end has caught nine of 15 targets for 81 yards and has yet to score in 2022. Week 5 saw the introduction of newly signed tight end Pharaoh Brown, whose presence could eventually eat into Bryant's playing time. Brown played just two snaps Sunday.

Practices fully Friday
Bryant (illness) was a full participant in Friday's practice session and doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Analysis: Bryant was unable to practice Wednesday due to his illness, and he was limited Thursday. However, he won't be forced to miss any game action after logging a full practice session to close out the week. The 2020 fourth-rounder has secured nine of 14 targets for 81 yards to begin the season.

Returns to practice
Bryant (illness) was able to practice Thursday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Analysis: Bryant sat out practice Wednesday due to the illness, but he returned in some form Thursday. The Browns have not released their official practice report yet, so it's not clear if he was a limited or full participant. However, either would be a step in the right direction for the third-year tight end. With David Njoku (knee) and recent signee Pharaoh Brown (hip) both questionable for Sunday against the Chargers as well, Bryant could potentially find himself in a significant role, if he plays.

Dealing with illness
Bryant didn't practice Wednesday due to an illness, Jake Trotter of ESPN.com reports.

Gets regular looks
Bryant caught four of six targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 23-20 loss to Atlanta.
Analysis: Bryant, who went untargeted in Week 3 while he nursed thumb and thigh injuries, was back in the rotation. His six looks were a season high, and Bryant has 14 targets (three in the red zone) over four games.

Handles regular workload
Bryant was not targeted over 34 offensive snaps in Thursday's 29-17 win over Pittsburgh in Week 3.
Analysis: Bryant battled thumb and thigh issues on the short week but managed to play 47 percent of the offensive snaps, which is his average through three games. Not targeting him may have been part of the plan to limit exposing Bryant to injury. That worked out well for primary tight end David Njoku, who broke out with nine catches (on 10 targets) for 89 yards and a touchdown.

Ready to face Steelers
Bryant (thigh/thumb) doesn't have an injury designation for Thursday's game against Pittsburgh, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Limited in practice
Bryant (thumb/thigh) is listed as a limited participant in Tuesday's practice, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Analysis: According to Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram, Bryant was spotted riding a stationary bike off to the side during the open portion of Tuesday's session, but the tight end must have fit in some work behind the scenes in order to get bumped up from a non-participant on Monday's report. If Bryant can upgrade to full activity Wednesday, it could be enough for him to approach Thursday's game against the Steelers without an injury designation.

Nursing pair of injuries
Bryant is listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated practice report with thumb and thigh injuries, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Analysis: Bryant apparently is banged up in the aftermath of the Browns' 31-30 loss to the Jets on Sunday, when he turned his four targets into three receptions for 45 yards across 31 snaps on offense. Though starter David Njoku has handily out-snapped him this season, Bryant holds the edge in targets (8-6) through Cleveland's first two games.

Another four-target game
Bryant caught three of four targets for 45 yards in Sunday's 31-30 loss to the Jets in Week 2.

Returns to game Sunday
Bryant (head) returned to Sunday's game against the Jets, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Exits with possible concussion
Bryant is being evaluated for a concussion during Sunday's game against the Jets, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

More targets than Njoku
Bryant caught two of four targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 26-24 win over Carolina.
Analysis: Bryant was on the field for 38 snaps, nearly half that of starter David Njoku's 71, but he came away as the target leader at tight end. Cleveland relied heavily on its running back tandem of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt for three-and-a-half quarters until the Panthers made it a closer game and took the lead in the fourth, so the Browns' pass catchers may not have a big role in game plans designed for Jacoby Brissett. Bryant caught both targets for 15 yards in Saturday's preseason finale against the Bears.

Strong start to camp
Bryant is off to a strong start in training camp and looks ready to handle a greater load in 2022, Anthony Poisal of the Browns' official site reports. "He's been a very good player for us since he got here," Cleveland tight ends coach T.C. McCartney said. "He does a lot of things that do not show up on the stat sheet necessarily, but we expect him to take the next step, as well."
Analysis: Bryant hauled in a few short passes Monday and was on the receiving end of a deep ball from Deshaun Watson on Saturday. With the Browns moving on from Austin Hooper during the offseason, Bryant is expected to pick up extra playing time behind starter David Njoku. It was only two seasons ago as a rookie that Bryant outplayed Njoku and earned more playing time than him.

Bryant caught one of three targets for nine yards in Week 18's 21-16 win over the Bengals.

He didn't make a big splash in 2021, settling in as the No. 3 tight end, but he managed to post numbers similar to his mildly surprising rookie campaign of 2020 when he out-snapped David Njoku. Scores in third straight game
Bryant caught his lone target for a one-yard touchdown reception in Monday's 26-14 loss to Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Bryant's managed to salvage his second NFL season with touchdowns in three consecutive contests. He and fellow tight end David Njoku accounted for both of Cleveland's touchdowns Monday, giving the position group a team-high 10 touchdown catches in 2021. Cleveland involves its tight ends -- the group has 28 red zone looks, one fewer than wideouts and running backs combined -- so there's value to be had here. Bryant caught his lone target for a one-yard touchdown in Week 16's 24-22 loss to the Packers on Saturday.
Analysis: Bryant found space in the end zone for an easy touchdown catch, the second straight game with a score for the second-year player. The Browns' three-headed crew at tight end makes it hard to predict which of Bryant, Austin Hooper or David Njoku will be the one to step up for a fantasy team any given week, but Cleveland's tight ends have accounted for eight of the team's 17 passing scores.

Hits paydirt in loss
Bryant caught two of two targets for 11 yards, including a six-yard touchdown catch in Monday's 16-14 loss to Las Vegas.
Analysis: Bryant was touch-and-go during the practice week with an ankle injury but was needed amid a COVID-19 outbreak that made starting tight end Austin Hooper unavailable. His touchdown catch gave Cleveland a 14-13 lead with just under four minutes left. It was the first TD of the season for Bryant, who operated as the second tight end behind David Njoku. Analysis: With Austin Hooper on the reserve/COVID-19 list, look for David Njoku to head the Browns' tight ends corps Monday. However, as long as his ankle holds up, Bryant -- who was inactive Week 14 -- is a candidate to see targets from fill-in QB Nick Mullens, with Miller Forristall in reserve. If he gets back on the field Wednesday, he could be set up nicely for a big workload Saturday with multiple Cleveland players landing on the reserve/COVID-19 list. May move to IR
Bryant's high ankle sprain may still be a ways away from healing, as head coach Kevin Stefanski said it was "to be determined," when asked whether the tight end would need to go on injured reserve Monday, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Analysis: Bryant suffered the injury in the Browns' Week 12 loss to the Ravens. Although he's listed as third on the positional depth chart, the Browns' tendency to feature the position consistently leaves Bryant as a steady contributor on offense. Bryant caught three of three targets for 50 yards, including a team-high 41-yard catch, in Sunday's 16-10 loss to Baltimore.
Analysis: Bryant, who entered the contest with an average of 14.6 yards per game, finished second in yards among all receivers behind only Jarvis Landry (111 yards). It's not often that Bryant tops fellow tight ends Austin Hooper and David Njoku, and of the three he's the only one without a touchdown in 2021. Untargeted in win
Bryant was not targeted over 31 snaps in Sunday's 13-10 win over Detroit.
Analysis: The Browns relied heavily on running back Nick Chubb, as quarterback Baker Mayfield (shoulder/knee/foot) was ineffective while playing through a number of injuries. That left few opportunities to be spread amongst the receiving corps. This was the third time in 11 games without a target for Bryant, and the fourth game without a catch. Bryant added mass to his body during the offseason, Anthony Poisal and Andrew Gribble of the Browns' official site report.
Analysis: Bryant was a 230-pounder as a rookie in 2020 and noted the challenge when lining up against muscular defensive ends. As such, he wanted added bulk to become a better blocker. He's pushing 245 pounds in this camp, and he's less overmatched. Of course, technique matters when it comes to blocking, and that's an area he's focused on in camp. The added mass provides another benefit, this one as a receiver, which showed during Thursday's session when he caught a contested ball. Bryant enters…read more

Third on depth chart
Bryant is listed as the No. 3 tight end on Cleveland's unofficial depth chart.
Analysis: Bryant played more than David Njoku (shoulder) in 2020, but the Browns are leaning toward Njoku as the top backup to starter Austin Hooper. At least that was case until Njoku missed Tuesday's practice with a shoulder injury, paving the way for Bryant to get more practice reps as the team prepares for its first preseason game Saturday against Jacksonville.

Scores in two-minute drills
Bryant caught a 39-yard pass from Case Keenum during Cleveland's two-minute drill practice session Sunday, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Analysis: Cleveland's second-team offense had a banner day against the first-team defense in the two-minute drills, largely due to their tight ends. Bryant, who had multiple touchdown catches during the entire practice session, caught his two-minute drill TD on a post route, then David Njoku leapt for a one-yard touchdown grab on a fade route. It was a look into the riches the Browns have at tight end, as both Bryant and Njoku are behind starter Austin Hooper.

Quiet in playoffs
Bryant had one target over 13 snaps in Sunday's 22-17 playoff loss to the Chiefs.
Analysis: Bryant had zero catches and one target over Cleveland's two playoff games. The rookie shared a role with veteran David Njoku all season behind starter Austin Hooper, but Bryant had much less usage than Njoku (30 snaps) in the loss. He finished the regular season with more targets (38), catches (24), yards (238) and touchdowns (three) than Njoku (29-19-213-2), but both players were firmly behind Hooper. All three tight ends are under contract in 2021; however, there's not much space for Bryant…read more

Untargeted in return
Bryant was not targeted in Sunday's 48-37 wild-card win over Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Bryant returned to action for the playoffs after missing the regular-season finale while on the reserve/COVID-19 list. The rookie played 22 snaps, one more than fellow backup David Njoku, but both players paled in comparison to Austin Hooper, who had a team-high 11 targets over 60 snaps. The Browns move to the AFC divisional round next Sunday to play the Chiefs, whose defense ranked 28th in yards allowed to opposing tight ends (59.6 YPG).

Activated off COVID list
Bryant was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday.
Analysis: The Browns got back a number of players ahead of their Sunday playoff game against the Steelers, including the 2020 fourth-round pick. Bryant has picked up a decent amount of playing time as the No. 2 tight end behind Austin Hooper throughout the season but it hasn't translated into a ton of production. In his lone contest against the Steelers in Week 6, Bryant played just 37 percent of the offensive snaps and caught one of his two targets for 11 yards.

Out Week 17 after positive test
Bryant won't be available for Sunday's game against the Steelers after testing positive for COVID-19, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Cleveland had already moved Bryant to the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday after the tight end was deemed to be a close contact of an infected person or persons. Upon undergoing additional testing while in isolation the past couple of days, Bryant was determined to have contracted the virus. He'll thus remain away from the team for the regular-season finale, though Bryant could have a chance to gain clearance for a potential wild-card playoff game, should the Browns earn a postseason berth.…read more

Deemed close contact
Bryant (reserve/COVID-19) is considered a close contact with someone outside the Browns' organization that tested positive for the virus, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Analysis: Bryant was placed on the COVID-19 list Tuesday, joining wide receivers Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins, KhaDarel Hodge and Donovan Peoples-Jones. All five players are deemed close contacts and will be eligible to play in this week's season finale against Pittsburgh, assuming they continue to test negative. The wideouts can return as early as Thursday, while Saturday is the earliest Bryant can come off the list. The Browns can clinch a playoff spot with a win over the Steelers.

Shifts to COVID-19 list
Bryant was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday.
Analysis: Bryant either contracted the virus or came into close contact with someone who did. If he's merely a close contact, he'll be eligible to play in the season finale against Pittsburgh as long as he continues to test negative. The rookie fourth-round pick joins wide receivers Jarvis Landry, Rashard Higgins, KhaDarel Hodge and Donovan Peoples-Jones -- all deemed close contacts -- on the reserve list.

Season high in targets
Bryant caught three of a season-high seven targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Cleveland's tight ends took on an extra workload after the team's top four wide receivers were placed on the COVID-19 list. The position group combined for a season-high 26 targets, smashing the previous high of 12, but Bryant and the rest of the tight ends could be back to normal next week. Normalcy returns with Hooper
Bryant caught both his targets for 19 yards in Sunday's 20-6 win over the Giants.
Analysis: The tight end position group welcomed back Austin Hooper, who returned from a neck injury that forced him to miss Week 14, and that reduced the targets allotted to Bryant, who was the target leader among Browns tight ends last week with six. All Cleveland tight ends have potential in Week 16 against the Jets, who rank last in fantasy points allowed to tight ends.

Leading TE target
Bryant caught three of a season-high six targets for 18 yards in Monday's 47-42 loss to the Ravens.
Analysis: Bryant and fellow tight end David Njoku picked up more playing time with Austin Hooper (neck) on the shelf. Each played significantly with Bryant's 55 snaps slightly outpacing Njoku's 51. For Bryant, who lost fumbles in the two previous games in which he's had a reception, it was just the second time in the last five weeks he's been targeted at all. Hooper's neck injury is not considered serious, so he could return for Week 15 on the road against the Giants on Sunday night.

Getting starting nod for Week 14
Bryant is expected to start at tight end Monday night against the Ravens with Austin Hooper (neck) having been ruled out for Week 14, Andrew Gribble of the Browns' official site reports.
Analysis: Bryant had earned six consecutive starts coming into Week 14, though Hooper's confirmed absence clears the fourth-round rookie for a more important passing-down role. The Florida Atlanta product reeled in four passes for 56 yards and two TDs during a Week 7 matchup against the Bengals while Hooper was recuperating from an appendectomy.

Untargeted in win
Bryant was not targeted in Sunday's 41-35 win over the Titans.
Analysis: Bryant went untargeted one week after he lost his second fumble of the season, but it's unlikely that miscue led to a lack of involvement against Tennessee. Sunday's game was the third in the last four that the rookie was untargeted. Bryant has fallen off the radar during the second half of the season, going from 2.6 targets per game over the first eight contests to 0.5 over the last four.

Fumbles in win
Bryant caught one of two targets for 13 yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 27-25 win over Jacksonville.
Analysis: The good news for Bryant is that he snapped a two-game run without a target, but his fumble on the first play of the second half led to a go-ahead touchdown. The entire tight end group has experienced a drop in targets, coinciding with the return of running back Nick Chubb three weeks ago. Cleveland has a 62/38 percent run/pass split over the last three games, which has resulted in just 13 tight end targets during that span, and nine of those targets belong to starter Austin Hooper. Untargeted for second straight week
Bryant was not officially targeted while playing 58 percent of the snaps in Sunday's 22-17 win over the Eagles.
Analysis: Bryant was thrown to once -- an incomplete target in the red zone -- but the play was negated due to a defensive pass interference call. Officially, Bryant went untargeted for a second straight week. That drop in targets dovetails with Cleveland leaning on its running game, a trend that should continue as the weather becomes more wintry. The Browns are next-to-last in the NFL in pass attempts and last in completions, which doesn't leave much space for a player like Bryant to be productive.

Untargeted against Texans
Bryant did not garner a single target over 36 offensive snaps during Sunday's 10-7 win against Houston.
Analysis: Cleveland only elected to put the ball in the air 20 times Sunday, pounding the rock on 41 occasions to the tune of 5.6 yards per carry. Given the low-volume passing script, Bryant endured his second no-catch showing of the 2020 campaign and his second consecutive outing of 25 or fewer receiving yards. The rookie's 56-yard, two-touchdown Week 7 output against the Bengals appears to be somewhat of an anomaly, as the Browns head into a Week 11 matchup against the Eagles' sixth-ranked pass defense.

Quiet following Week 7 breakout
Bryant reeled in all three of his targets for 25 receiving yards during Sunday's 16-6 loss to the Raiders.
Analysis: Bryant did finish as the No. 2 leading option among Cleveland pass-catchers Sunday, but the performance came on a day in which the Browns mustered only 122 yards through the air with no touchdowns. He also lost a fumble in the first quarter on the Las Vegas side of the field. Set for another start
Bryant is set to reprise his role as Cleveland's top tight end Sunday against the Raiders, as Scott Petrak of The Chronicle-Telegram reports that Austin Hooper (appendix) has been ruled out.
Analysis: Bryant scored two touchdowns in Hooper's first absence of the season last week against the Bengals, and he once again figures to serve as an important piece of a Cleveland passing attack that will be missing wide receiver Odell Beckham (knee) in addition to Hooper. Fellow tight end David Njoku, who also found the end zone last week, should also see the field more as a result of Hooper's absence.

Scores twice as top tight end
Bryant caught four of five targets for 56 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 37-34 win over the Bengals.
Analysis: Bryant took advantage of the extra opportunities created by Austin Hooper's (appendix) absence. He scored a three-yard touchdown to tie the game at 10 apiece in the second quarter, then tied it up at 17-all with a six-yard score in the third. With Hooper's appendectomy expected to keep him out through the Week 9 bye, Bryant and the disgruntled David Njoku, who also caught a touchdown, are both poised to keep playing expanded roles at tight end against the Raiders in Week 8.

Filling in for Hooper
Bryant is slated to start at tight end for the Browns in Sunday's game against the Bengals, with Austin Hooper (appendix) sidelined, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Analysis: While Bryant is in line to get the Week 7 starting nod, David Njoku should also see his share of snaps Sunday, especially in two tight end sets. A possible time-share on that front thus limits the bankable fantasy ceiling of each player, but Bryant is an option for those in need of a replacement for Hooper or as a bye-week plug in.

Work to pick up sans Hooper
Bryant is expected to handle an increased role Sunday against the Bengals after top tight end Austin Hooper was ruled out for the contest following an emergency appendectomy, Jake Trotter of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: While the Browns had both Hooper and David Njoku available in the past two games, Bryant drew his two lowest offensive snap shares of the season, playing 40 and 37 percent of the snaps in Weeks 5 and 6, respectively. With Hooper out of the mix for at least one game, Bryant and Njoku will likely split time at the position, as neither dramatically exceeded the other in terms of snaps the past two weeks. Plays less than Njoku
Bryant caught one of two targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 38-7 loss to the Steelers.
Analysis: The rookie remains part of the Browns' three-man rotation at tight end, but Week 6 was the first time he had a lower share of snaps (37 percent) than David Njoku (40 percent). The consensus entering the season was that Njoku would sit second behind starter Austin Hooper, but a knee injury limited him over the first five weeks and raised Bryant's profile. Since Njoku's return, however, Bryant has just three targets over the last two weeks.

Playing time drops
Bryant failed to catch his only target in Sunday's 32-23 win over the Colts.
Analysis: Bryant's claim to the No. 2 TE spot behind starter Austin Hooper came to an end Sunday, as David Njoku returned from a knee injury. While Bryant (29) had more snaps than Njoku (21), his playing time dropped from the 41 snaps he averaged while Njoku was on injured reserved the last three weeks.

Competition returns
Bryant will have more competition for playing time, as the Browns anticipate David Njoku (knee) returning Week 5, Andrew Gribble of the Browns' official site reports.
Analysis: Bryant has filled in the last three weeks while Njoku recovered from a sprained MCL. Bryant and Njoku will compete for playing time behind (and along with) primary tight end Austin Hooper in Cleveland's multi-TE attack. It's unknown how the deployment will shake itself out, as the only time all three were active was Week 1 when Njoku left in the third quarter. Four catches in win
Bryant caught four of four targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 49-38 win over Dallas.
Analysis: Bryant's usage has increased each game since the season opener, which is partly due to David Njoku's knee injury. It's also due to the maturity he brings to the position -- the Browns trust the rookie to do his job on each play. Bryant has at least one target and catch in all four games. Bryant caught one of two targets for three yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-20 win over Washington.
Analysis: Bryant's touchdown catch, the first of his NFL career, proved to be the game-winning score for the Browns, who fought back from two deficits in the game. Bryant has one catch in each of his first three games while getting additional reps in the wake of a knee injury to David Njoku. Greater share of snaps Week 2
Bryant caught one of two targets for 14 yards and played 30 snaps (52 percent) in Thursday's 35-30 win over the Bengals in Week 2.
Analysis: Bryant played one less snap Thursday than he did Week 1, but the rookie had a greater share of the total, going from 42 to 52 percent. As expected, his usage increased with David Njoku (knee) on injured reserve. However, that was tempered by the increase in snaps for fullback Andy Janovich, who went from nine snaps Week 1 to 22 on Thursday. Bryant has two catches, four targets and 19 yards after two games.

Benefits from Njoku injury
With the Browns placing David Njoku on injured reserve Monday, Bryant should see an increase in playing time.
Analysis: Njoku will be out for at least three weeks, which gives Bryant a lot of exposure beginning Week 2 at home against the Bengals on Thursday. The rookie's 31 snaps in a Week 1 loss to the Ravens were second among four tight ends that played. The entire position group combined to play 116 snaps, so the offense is geared to playing multiple tight ends. Austin Hooper, who played 77 percent of the snaps Week 1, could also see an increase.

Targeted twice in loss
Bryant caught one of two targets for five yards and played 31 snaps (42 percent) in Sunday's 38-6 loss to the Ravens in Week 1.
Analysis: Bryant was in the starting lineup in his NFL debut, and both targets were in the first quarter, including his lone catch on the second play of the game. The Browns appear to be confident in the rookie fourth-round pick. He entered the game competing with David Njoku for playing time but could see an uptick after Njoku departed with a knee injury. Bryant was named the winner of Cleveland's 2020 Maurice Basset award for the best rookie at training camp, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
