Cut loose by Dallas
The Cowboys waived McMath on Tuesday.
Analysis: McMath has appeared in 14 regular-season games since being selected by Tennessee in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He joined the Cowboys' practice squad in early January after being let go by the Colts in October. McMath entered training camp with an outside chance of making the 53-man roster, and across the Cowboys' three preseason games, he caught five passes on eight targets for 80 yards. Assuming he clears waivers, McMath will look to catch on with a team in need of wide receiver…read more

Staying in Dallas
McMath signed a reserve/future contract with the Cowboys on Monday.
Analysis: McMath joined the Cowboys' practice unit Jan. 3 and will now stick around for the offseason. The wide receiver did not appear in a game in 2023 and he'll look to crack the initial 53-man roster with Dallas in 2024.

Heading to Dallas
McMath was signed to the Cowboys' practice squad Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Analysis: McMath will head to Dallas after being let go by the Colts in October. The wide receiver will provide Dallas with an extreme depth option in case of injury.

Cut from Colts' practice squad
Indianapolis cut McMath from its practice squad Tuesday.
Analysis: McMath originally joined the Colts' practice team prior to Week 1, but after Week 6, the team has decided to part ways with him. He's now set to become a free agent and hasn't seen the field yet during this regular season.

Added to practice squad
McMath was added to the Colts' practice squad Thursday.
Analysis: McMath spent OTAs and training camp with the Titans before failing to make it through final roster cuts. Overall, he suited up for 14 games with Tennessee over the previous two years and compiled four receptions for 48 yards, one carry for four yards and seven special-teams tackles in the process. He will now stay in the division and look to acclimate to the Colts' playbook.

Loses roster spot
McMath was waived by the Titans on Tuesday, Jordan Schultz reports.
Analysis: McMath spent the last two seasons with Tennessee after the team selected him in the sixth round of the 2021 Draft. He suited up for 14 contests in that span, totaling four catches for 48 yards. He'll likely be a practice squad candidate if no other team scoops him up first.

Two catches in 2022
McMath recorded two receptions on eight targets for 40 yards across five games in 2022.
Analysis: McMath was sidelined with an undisclosed injury for nearly the entire season, though he managed to make his debut in Week 14. He made his biggest impact in a Week 17 matchup against Dallas, when he hauled in a deep pass for 39 yards. McMath will likely find himself on the roster bubble with the Titans during training camp heading into the 2023 campaign.

Makes long catch
McMath recorded one catch on two targets for 39 yards in Thursday's 27-13 loss to the Cowboys.
Analysis: McMath played only 15 snaps, the fifth-highest number among the Titans' receiving corps. However, he still managed to finish tied for the second-most yards on the team thanks to a long reception early in the second quarter. McMath has yet to play more than 34 percent of offensive snaps across four games this season, leaving him with minimal opportunity to make an impact on the stat sheet.

Four targets in return
McMath saw four targets but failed to record a catch in Sunday's 36-22 loss to the Jaguars.
Analysis: McMath made his season debut after spending the entire campaign on injured reserve with a hip injury. He saw the majority of his opportunity late in the game as the Titans were forced to abandon the run while playing from two scores down. McMath isn't likely to see a significant role in the Tennessee offense, particularly once Treylon Burks (concussion) is able to return.

Predictably activated
McMath (hip) was activated off injured reserve Saturday, Ben Arthur of FoxSports.com reports.
Analysis: The 2021 sixth-round pick hasn't played this season after suffering a major hip injury back during training camp. McMath was used sparingly in his rookie season, accumulating just two catches for eight yards across 106 offensive snaps, but given the team's lack of standout depth at wide receiver and injuries to both Treylon Burks (concussion) and C.J. Board (ribs), it's possible McMath becomes a relevant factor offensively for the first time in his career.

Nearing return from IR
Tennessee designated McMath (hip) to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: McMath, a 2021 sixth-round pick, has been sidelined all season while recovering from a significant hip injury suffered during the preseason. Because he's been sidelined for several months, McMath may require more than one week of practices before being ready for game action, so he may not be formally activated from IR ahead of this Sunday's game against Jacksonville. The Titans will have 21 days to evaluate McMath in practice before deciding whether to add him to the 53-man roster or keep him…read more

Not expected back in Week 7
McMath (undisclosed) is not expected to return in Week 7 versus the Colts, Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com reports.
Analysis: McMath has been out since Aug. 31 while on injured reserve with an unspecified injury. Head coach Mike Vrabel said Monday that the wide receiver wouldn't be back for Week 7, but he "might be back eventually". With the vague answer from Vrabel, it doesn't seem likely that McMath is a large part of Tennessee's game plan moving forward.

Placed on IR
The Titans placed McMath (undisclosed) on injured reserve Wednesday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: McMath originally made the 53-man roster, but after being placed on injured reserve, he'll be forced to miss at least the first four games of the regular season. The 2021 sixth-round pick appeared in nine games as a rookie, catching two of six targets for eight yards, and submitted a strong training camp. It's unclear what his role will be when he returns from injury.

Making case for roster spot
McMath caught his lone target for 48 yards in Thursday's 23-10 preseason loss to the Ravens.
Analysis: McMath has turned heads early on in training camp with a series of strong performances. He still wasn't overly involved in the offense in the Titans' opening preseason game, though he did make the most of his lone reception on a deep pass down the field from Malik Willis. McMath managed only two receptions in his rookie season, and he is currently competing with fellow second-year wideout Dez Fitzpatrick for the fifth spot on the wide receiver depth chart in Tennessee.

Tallies first reception
McMath recorded one reception on two targets for nine yards in Sunday's 20-0 win over the Jaguars.
Analysis: McMath was activated from injured reserve Saturday and was surprisingly active on gameday over Dez Fitzpatrick (coach's decision). As a result, he logged the first reception of his career in the third quarter. McMath figures to retain primarily a special teams role moving forward, though he could have a chance to step up should the Titans suffer further injuries among their receiving corps.

Ready for return
McMath (quadriceps) was activated from injured reserve Saturday, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: McMath has been sidelined since Week 4 with a quadriceps injury. The rookie had served primarily on special teams, but he could see a slight uptick in offensive role with A.J. Brown (chest) still sidelined. McMath should also be a special teams contributor.

Cleared to practice
McMath (quadriceps) was designated to return from injured reserve Monday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: McMath landed on injured reserve in early October, but he'll now be able to practice after being sidelined for nearly two months. The receiver will need to be activated within 21 days if he hopes to return to game action this year.

Placed on IR
McMath (quadriceps) was placed on injured reserve Friday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: McMath has been targeted just once across his first four appearances of the season, and he'll now miss at least three games with a quad injury. Josh Reynolds and Cameron Batson could see slightly increased playing time in his absence.

Activated off COVID list
McMath has been actiavted off the reserve/COVID list, Mike Moraitis of USA Today reports.
Analysis: McMath tested positive for COVID-19 prior to the Titans' final preseason game. He has since cleared the league's protocols and is set to join the 53-man roster. He primarily projects to be a special-teams contributor and depth receiver in the upcoming season.

Tests positive for COVID-19
McMath tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, independent NFL journalist Aaron Wilson reports.
Analysis: McMath was placed in protocols ahead of Saturday's preseason contest against the Bears, but now it has been confirmed that he has tested positive for the virus. The 2021 sixth-round pick has been competing for a spot in a wide-open receiver room behind A.J. Brown and Julio Jones, but a long stint on the COVID list may put an end his roster aspirations.

Placed in COVID protocols
McMath will miss Saturday's preseason contest against the Bears after being placed in COVID-19 protocols, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The Titans continue to deal with a COVID-19 outbreak that has sidelined numerous members of their organization, including Ryan Tannehill and head coach Mike Vrabel. McMath was selected in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft and is competing for a roster spot in a wide-open receiver room behind A.J. Brown and Julio Jones.
