Let go by Washington
The Commanders waived York from the active roster Monday.
Analysis: York missed both of his field-goal attempts during Sunday's 37-20 loss to the Buccaneers. Though he converted both of his extra-point tries, a rough Week 1 showing was enough for York to lose his grip on the starting kicker gig for Washington. His misses came from 47 and 56 yards out. Now, York will have to search for an opportunity to compete elsewhere in the league.

Inaccurate from deep
York made two extra-point tries but missed both of his field goal attempts in Sunday's 37-20 loss to the Buccaneers.
Analysis: It was a rough start for York in Washington, who was acquired via trade from Cleveland during training camp. However, they weren't chip shots for the LSU product, with his misses coming from 47 and 56 yards out. He'll have a chance to get on track in Week 2 against the Giants.

Traded to Washington
The Commanders acquired York from the Browns on Thursday in exchange for a conditional 2025 seventh-round pick, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Washington then waived Riley Patterson, leaving York as the only kicker on their roster. Meanwhile, Dustin Hopkins (undisclosed) is left as the lone kicker for Cleveland, suggesting the team isn't worried that his recent minor injury will affect his Week 1 availability. The Browns took York in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, but he was waived the following preseason after missing eight field-goal attempts during his rookie season. He then spent time with the Giants and Titans before…read more

Makes all kicks
York was successful on his lone field-goal attempt and extra-point try in Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings.
Analysis: The Browns have used York in both preseason games thus far, and the kicker has yet to miss, including making a 55-yard field goal in last week's preseason opener. The Browns expended a fourth-round draft pick in 2022 on York, who was expected to put an end to the team's placekicking woes, but he flamed out. Dustin Hopkins (undisclosed minor injury) owns the job now, and York is around this preseason as insurance and a showcase for potential trade partners.

Signs with Cleveland
The Browns signed York on Saturday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Analysis: York spent last season on the practice squads of the Titans and Giants after the Browns cut him following training camp last summer. A 2022 fourth-round pick by Cleveland, York made just 24 of 32 field-goal attempts (75 percent) as a rookie before losing his job after one season. York joins Dustin Hopkins and Lucas Havrisik at kicker for Cleveland.

Checks in with Tennessee
York visited with the Titans on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Analysis: York has seemingly recovered from the quadriceps injury that landed him on the Giants' practice squad injured list back in December. The 22-year-old will now look to catch on with another team during the offseason after having already visited Jacksonville on Tuesday.

Suffers quad injury
The Giants placed York on the practice squad reserve/injured list Friday due to a quadricep injury, Michael Elsen of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: The 22-year-old looked on track to serve as the Giants' kicker for the final three games of the season, as Randy Bullock (hamstring) was recently placed on injured reserve. However, York suffered a quad injury at Thursday's practice that will also keep him sidelined for the rest of the season. With Graham Gano (knee) also on IR along with Bullock, the Giants signed Mason Crosby to their practice squad Friday. Likely to kick for Giants in Week 16
York is likely to serve as the Giants' kicker in Monday's game against the Eagles after head coach Brian Daboll said Wednesday that he doesn't expect Randy Bullock (hamstring) to be available for Week 16, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: York, who currently resides on New York's practice squad, looks destined to be elevated to the active roster Monday, assuming Bullock doesn't make any major strides in his recovery from the injury in the coming days. The 2022 fourth-round pick hasn't yet appeared in a game this season, but across 17 appearances with the Browns as a rookie, he converted 24 of 32 field-goal attempts and 35 of 37 extra-point tries.

Inked to practice squad
The Giants signed York to its practice squad Friday.
Analysis: York rejoins the Giants organization just two days after he was cut loose from the 53-man roster. The Giants signed him off the Titans' practice squad earlier this month, but he was never active for a game during his three weeks on the roster. The Giants appear to have settled on veteran Randy Bullock as their kicker moving forward with Graham Gano (knee) on injured reserve.

Parts ways with Giants
The Giants waived York on Friday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: New York signed the 22-year-old kicker in early November after deciding to place Graham Gano (knee) on IR. However, the team brought in veteran Randy Bullock at the same time, and Bullock was ultimately given the first chance to kick on game days. He didn't do anything to lose the job, thus York has been let go after being a healthy scratch three straight Sundays. Healthy scratch again
York (coach's decision) is inactive ahead of Sunday's game against the Commanders, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: The 22-year-old had a chance to win the kicking job in New York after Graham Gano (knee) was placed on injured reserve, but it seems as if he's lost the competition, with Randy Bullock assuming the team's kicking duties. York has yet to appear in an NFL game since signing with the Giants' in early November.

Inactive in Week 9
York (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game at Las Vegas, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: The Giants signed York off the Titans' practice squad Friday, giving them a choice between him and Randy Bullock to kick for the team after Graham Gano (knee) was placed on injured reserve. Unfortunately for York, Bullock is getting the call Sunday, but the former will have at least two more chances to sub in for Gano considering rules regarding getting signed off another team's practice squad mean he must remain on the active roster for a minimum of three games.

Joined by Bullock on active roster
The Giants elevated Randy Bullock from the practice squad Saturday, meaning he and York are the candidates to kick for the team Sunday at Las Vegas, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
Analysis: The Giants have yet to tip their hand about who will get the first chance to take over for regular placekicker Graham Gano, who was placed on injured reserve Friday due to a lingering left knee injury. York was the Browns' kicker last season, netting 24 of 32 field-goal attempts and 35 of 37 point-after tries in 17 games.

The Giants are signing York off the Titans' practice squad.
Analysis: With Graham Gano (knee) slated to go on IR, York and Randy Bullock are candidates to serve as the Giants' kicker Sunday against the Raiders. Joins Tennessee's practice squad
York is signing with the Titans' practice squad Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

To be cut following trade
The Browns are slated to waive York after having traded for Dustin Hopkins from the Chargers, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Analysis: York lost Cleveland's kicking competition by virtue of going 4-for-8 on field-goal tries in four preseason appearances, including back-to-back games in which he failed to convert what would have been a game winner. Now, the 2022 fourth-round pick's roster spot has been made expendable by the Browns' trade of a 2025 seventh-round pick to the Chargers in exchange for veteran placekicker Dustin Hopkins. Not named starter
Head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters Sunday that he has not committed to York being the Browns' starting kicker for Week 1, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Analysis: Stefanski reiterated that the discussions have been internal and that York is "really talented." The 2022 fourth-round pick out of LSU has struggled in the preseason, going just 4-for-8 on field goal tries in four games, but he has converted on all eight extra-point attempts. Won't face competition in camp
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said Friday that there are no plans to bring in another kicker to compete with York during the preseason, Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com reports.
Analysis: York has struggled in exhibition action, hitting just half of his six field-goal attempts. He had two chances at a go-ahead kick late Thursday, missing wide right on a 47-yarder and wide left from five yards closer after the Eagles were flagged for a penalty. Nonetheless, Stefanski indicated confidence in the kicker, saying, "Cade's our kicker. We support him. We have a ton of confidence in him. That's really as simple as that." York was successful on three of four field-goal attempts in Thursday's 18-18 preseason game against the Eagles.
Analysis: York, who had missed attempts in each of the first two preseason games, made all three tries during the first half Thursday. But all anyone will remember are the misses near the end of the game that could have sealed a win for the Browns. Missed FGA in HoF game
York missed a 49-yard field-goal attempt and made all three extra-point tries in Thursday's preseason win over the Jets.
Analysis: York was wide right on the Browns' first drive of the game. He's coming off a roller coaster of a rookie season that included three misses inside the 40 and a 75-percent success rate. Prior to the start of training camp, Cleveland special teams coach Bubba Ventrone told Ashley Bostock of the Cleveland Plain Dealer that York is very in-tune with his mechanics, then added the caveat, "almost too in-tune at times," which provides insight into his inconsistency last season. Quiet finish
York did not attempt a field goal and converted both extra-point kicks in Sunday's 28-14 loss to the Steelers in Week 18.
Analysis: York had a quiet finale but finished the season on a high note, making all eight kicks over the final three weeks. It was an uneven season for the rookie, who became a legend in training camp but made just 75 percent (24 of 32) of field-goal attempts. The Browns spent fourth-round draft capital on the LSU product, and while he may not have solidified the kicking game as envisioned, York was the least of the team's issues in 2022. They expect him to be their kicker in 2023.

Makes all kicks
York converted his lone field-goal attempt and all three extra-point kicks in Sunday's 24-10 win over Washington in Week 17.
Analysis: York gave the Browns a 3-0 first-quarter lead when he buried a 37-yarder. Later in the quarter, he booted a chip shot from 25 yards, but Washington was offside on the play. That prompted head head coach Kevin Stefanski to bring the offense back to go for it on 4th-and goal from the 3-yard line, but Washington stopped them on downs.

Makes both kicks
York converted his lone field-goal attempt and extra-point try in Saturday's 17-10 loss to New Orleans.
Analysis: York connected from 30 yards but was not given a shot at longer kicks on a brutally cold day with significant wind in Cleveland. Two drives ended on the Saints' side of the field, but attempts would have been from 59 and 60 yards. The Browns have averaged 11 points over the last three games, which suggests York is not a good option for fantasy teams still in the hunt.

York made two of four field-goal attempts and his lone extra-point kick in Saturday's 13-3 win over Baltimore.
Analysis: York was in position for a big day but missed from 38 and 46 yards on successive possessions in the fourth quarter. There was some December weather in Cleveland -- winds at 12 MPH from the northeast, freezing temperatures and snow -- but York refused to use it as an excuse. Lobbied for long FGA
York pleaded with coaches to let him attempt a 68-yard field goal in last week's loss to the Bengals, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports. "If I'm asking for the kick, I think I can make it," York said.
Analysis: The Browns were at the 50-yard line and trailing, 13-3, with time running out in the first half. When quarterback Deshaun Watson spiked the ball to stop the clock, York lobbied to try the kick, but head coach Kevin Stefanski opted for a Hail Mary pass, which was unsuccessful. Makes all kicks in loss
York converted his lone field-goal attempt and extra-point kick in Sunday's 23-10 loss to Cincinnati in Week 14.
Analysis: York's make was shortie from 26 yards, and the rookie's four-point week tied a season low. He was not given a chance for three points on the Browns' opening drive, which could have given him a normal week of production. Cleveland had 4th-and-1 at the Bengals' 25-yard line, but head coach Kevin Stefanski opted to go for it. York ranks 17th among placekickers with 88 points through 14 games (6.8 PPG).

Perfect in win
York converted two of two field-goal attempts and three of three extra-point kicks in Sunday's 27-14 win over Houston in Week 13.
Analysis: York had been wobbly over the previous five weeks, converting just six of 10 field-goal attempts, so Sunday's effort was a welcome relief. The 2022 fourth-round pick was viewed as someone that could stabilize the position, as the team had burned through kickers since 2019, but there have been moments of uncertainty.

Misses FG
York converted one of two field-goal attempts and two of two extra-point kicks in Sunday's 23-17 overtime win over Tampa Bay in Week 12.
Analysis: York connected from 51 yards in the first quarter -- his fourth conversion on seven tries from 50-plus yards -- then followed up by going wide left from 38 yards two drives later. The rookie kicker had been a darling of training camp, mostly because of his distance, but York has had three field-goal attempts blocked and failed to convert on at least one kick in four of the last five games. Has kick blocked
York converted one of two field-goal attempts and both extra-point tries in Sunday's 31-23 loss to the Bills in Week 11.
Analysis: York had a 34-yard attempt blocked, the third time in four weeks a field goal was tipped. He leads all kickers with three attempts blocked, which may be an issue the Browns want to investigate. The team may want to determine if there are protection issues on the line, or if York's trajectory is contributing to the blocks. He's also had tries from 53 and 60 yards blocked.

York successfully converted his lone field-goal attempt and two extra-point tries in Sunday's 39-17 loss to the Dolphins in Week 10.

York converted two of three field-goal attempts and both extra-point tries in Sunday's 23-20 loss to Baltimore in Week 7.

The 60-yarder was blocked, scuttling Cleveland's chances. Analysis: York made kicks from 39, 48 and 51 yards in what was a nice bounce-back week after the rookie placekicker missed two field goals in a two-point loss in Week 5. He was not given a chance at an extra-point kick, as the Browns opted to go for two points after their lone touchdown.

Has support of staff
Browns special teams coach Mike Priefer believes York will be "fine" after the rookie placekicker missed two field goals in Week 5's 30-28 loss to the Chargers, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports. "He's in a good place mentally, he kicked the ball really well [Wednesday], he's never really lost his confidence. He's just as disappointed as any one of us, as any one of our fans," Priefer said.
Analysis: Priefer and head coach Kevin Stefanski lived through a similar situation in 2018 with the Vikings, who had drafted Daniel Carlson in the fifth round (167th overall). Carlson missed three kicks in a game, including two in overtime, and was released after just two games. Two misses in two-point loss
York missed both of his field-goal attempts and converted all four extra-point kicks in Sunday's 30-28 loss to the Chargers in Week 5.

York converted two of two field-goal attempts and both extra-point kicks in Sunday's 23-20 loss to Atlanta in Week 4.
Analysis: York returned to being perfect after missing extra points in each of the last two weeks. The rookie kicker could have had a third field goal, but head coach Kevin Stefanski went for seven points on 4th-and-goal from the four-yard line on the first drive of the game, which ended with an incomplete pass. York converted his lone field-goal attempt and two of three extra-point tries in Thursday's 29-17 win over Pittsburgh in Week 3.
Analysis: York's miss clanged off the upright and was his second in as many weeks. His miss last week was not the sole reason for Week 2's loss to the Jets, but it was part of a team-wide collapse. The rookie kicker was not given a chance for a second field goal just before halftime, when the Browns decided to go for it on 4th-and-2 at the Pittsburgh 31. York has 27 points through three games.

Registers first blemish
York made his lone field-goal attempt and three of four extra-point kicks in Sunday's 31-30 loss to the Jets in Week 2.
Analysis: While the margin of defeat comes down to the missed extra-point attempt, the Browns' loss was a team-wide breakdown in all phases of the game. York's missed kick left the Browns with a 30-17 lead with 1:55 left, and New York had no timeouts left. Nails 58-yarder for win
York successfully booted four-of-four field-goal attempts and both extra-point kicks in Sunday's 26-24 win over Carolina.
Analysis: York was the story for the Browns, scoring 14 of the team's 26 points, including a 58-yard field goal with eight seconds left. That thwarted the Panthers' furious 17-point fourth-quarter push and finished off a successful day for the rookie fourth-round pick out of LSU. Cleveland was 1-of 4 in red-zone efficiency, which could be a theme going forward for the offense led by Jacoby Brissett.

Shows off leg Sunday
York successfully made two of three field-goal attempts and both extra-point kicks in Sunday's preseason game against Philadelphia.
Analysis: York showed off for the home crowd at FirstEnergy Stadium, booting a 50-yarder with plenty to spare for his first make midway through the second quarter. He later nailed a chip shot from 19 yards as the first half ended. The one miss was from 55 yards; it had the distance but bounced off the right upright. "It felt good off the foot," York told Anthony Poisal of the Browns' official site. "I honestly thought I made it until I looked up. It was a good hit, it just went right off the upright."…read more

Wins rookie award
York was named the winner of the Maurice Bassett Award, which is given annually to the most outstanding rookie in Cleveland's training camp, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: York earned the title with what has been a near-flawless camp. He successfully booted 28 of 30 field-goal attempts during competitive situations, and his final kick during Tuesday's session, from 54 yards, split the uprights with plenty to spare. There's a lot of hype surrounding the rookie, who's lived up to it thus far, but he'll need to deliver in regular-season contests, and in weather rarely experienced growing up in Texas or kicking for LSU.

Perfect in opener
York made all three extra-point kicks and was successful on a 31-yard field-goal attempt in Friday's 24-13 win over the Jaguars in preseason action.
Analysis: It was a banner night for the Browns' 2022 Draft class, which accounted for all 24 points scored -- fifth-round pick Jerome Ford scored two touchdowns and third-round pick Martin Emerson had a pick six. York built off what has been a strong camp thus far and is a lock to be Cleveland's placekicker, as the rookie fourth-round pick has no competition.

Misses first kick
York has made 11-of-12 field-goal attempts in training camp, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Analysis: A few of those successful boots were as far out as 53 yards, although when taking into consideration the distance beyond the goal posts, they could have been good from 60-plus. His lone miss was from 58 yards. The 2022 fourth-round pick out of LSU made 54-of-66 for the Tigers, including 21-of-27 as a freshman for the 2019 national championship team. Not since Phil Dawson, who left as a free agent in 2012 after 14 seasons in Cleveland, have interested observers felt this confident in a Browns'…read more

Connects from beyond 50
York was successful on all six field-goal attempts during Monday's practice session, Athony Poisal of the Browns' official site reports.
Analysis: York has been perfect over two kicking sessions, nailing all 12 attempts, including a 48-yarder Saturday and a 51-yarder Monday that split the uprights.

Nails all FGA in session
York made all six field-goal attempts during Saturday's practice, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: York's longest attempt was from 48 yards -- it would have been good from another 10 yards, per Anthony Poisal of the Browns' official site -- in the first live kicking session of camp. The Browns have high expectations for the fourth-round draft pick and hope he can stabilize the placekicker position after Chase McLaughlin struggled down the stretch in 2021.
