Christian Watson has averaged a career-high 17.0 air yards per target this season, the 4th-most among 126 wide receivers with at least 15 targets.
Updated Tue, Nov 19 at 4:43pm -
Puts forth season-best effort
Watson brought in all four targets for 150 yards in the Packers' 20-19 win over the Bears on Sunday.
Analysis: Watson contributed a game-long 60-yard reception on the second play of what would turn out to be the Packers' game-winning drive in the fourth quarter. The third-year wideout tied a season best in receptions while setting a new high-water mark in receiving yards, with the only blemish on his afternoon the fact his touchdown drought extended to four games. Watson will look to build on his first 100-yard tally of the season in a Week 12 home clash against the 49ers next Sunday.

Leads Packers in targets
Watson recorded three receptions on seven targets for 37 yards in Sunday's 24-14 loss to the Lions. He also caught a two-point conversion.
Analysis: Watson has seen his involvement in the offense tick up in the last two weeks, earning 13 total targets -- the same number he had across the first six contests of the campaign. He didn't manage to turn that into much production Sunday, and he has just 76 yards combined across the last two weeks. Nevertheless, it's been positive to see Watson get more involved in a crowded Green Bay receiving corps, and he should see improved production if his opportunity remains stable.

Garners six targets Sunday
Watson had four receptions (six targets) for 39 yards in Sunday's 30-27 victory over the Jaguars.
Analysis: Watson has been dealing with an ankle injury in recent weeks, but he has maintained an active status throughout. The 6-foot-4 wideout tied tight end Tucker Kraft for the lead in targets for Green Bay on Sunday. Watson remains a mid-level option with some upside (assuming good health) heading into next Sunday's bout with the Lions.

In clear for Sunday
Watson (ankle) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
Analysis: Due to the left ankle he sprained back in Week 4, Watson had his reps managed Wednesday and Thursday, but after practicing fully Friday, he's in the clear to suit up for a third straight game Sunday. In his first two contests back from the injury after missing a Week 5 win over the Rams, Watson has recorded four receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown on six targets while carrying once for minus-4 yards.

Stays limited Thursday
Watson (ankle) was limited at Thursday's practice.
Analysis: Since sitting out Week 5 at the Rams due to a sprained left ankle, Watson has suited up the last two games, combining for five touches for 73 yards from scrimmage and one receiving TD. Most of that production occurred on a 44-yard scoring connection with QB Jordan Love in Week 6 against the Cardinals, but Watson has a favorable matchup on tap Sunday versus a Jaguars defense that has allowed the second-most YPT (8.7) to opposing wide receivers this season. Friday's injury report will unveil…read more

Logs limited practice Wednesday
Watson (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Both Watson and fellow wideout Jayden Reed continue to tend to their respective ankle issues, but the former hasn't experienced much of a change in his workload. Having said that, Watson turned his two touches into five yards from scrimmage this past Sunday versus the Texans, so he'll be aiming for a stronger performance Sunday at Jacksonville, assuming he's active.

Quiet in victory
Watson had one reception for nine yards and one carry for minus-4 yards in Sunday's 24-22 victory over the Texans.
Analysis: Watson was coming off his most productive game of the season, but quarterback Jordan Love focused elsewhere in Week 7, and Watson finished with just two targets and two touches. Inconsistency is a major issue for Watson's fantasy prospects, but he will have a plus matchup Week 8 with the Packers facing a Jaguars defense that ranks near the bottom of the league when it comes to receptions, yards and touchdowns ceded to opposing wideouts.

No Week 7 injury designation
Watson (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Texans, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
Analysis: Both Watson and Jayden Reed (ankle) are good to go after three limited practices apiece, while Dontayvion Wicks (shoulder) is listed as questionable after following the same practice routine. Watson posted a season-high 68 receiving yards thanks to a 44-yard touchdown catch in Green Bay's Week 6 win over the Cardinals, and he'll look to build off that strong outing against a Houston defense that has been more vulnerable through the air than on the ground.

Another limited showing
Watson (ankle) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Bill Huber of SI.com reports.
Analysis: Watson has cobbled together back-to-back capped sessions to begin Week 7 prep, which comes as no surprise considering he returned to action this past Sunday against the Cardinals after missing one contest when he initially was expected to be out multiple games due to a left ankle injury. Fellow WRs Jayden Reed (ankle) and Dontayvion Wicks (shoulder) also have been limited this week, so Friday's practice report will be telling for who among the trio enters the weekend with a designation for…read more

Remains limited by ankle injury
Watson (ankle) was a limited participant at Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Watson looked like his normal dynamic self this past Sunday against the Cardinals, reeling off 68 yards and one touchdown on his three catches (four targets). The output mostly was fueled by a 44-yard touchdown connection with quarterback Jordan Love, but it still was an encouraging performance for Watson after missing just one game due to a sprained left ankle. Fellow receivers Jayden Reed (ankle) and Dontayvion Wicks (shoulder) also had caps on their practice reps Wednesday, so the situation…read more

Season-best outing in Week 6 win
Watson (ankle) caught three of four targets for 68 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-13 win over the Cardinals.
Analysis: The oft-injured Watson returned from a one-game absence to post his highest yardage total of the season, topping his Week 3 output by one yard. His 44-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter came one possession after Watson caught a drive-extending 14-yard pass on fourth-and-2. Green Bay's wide receivers combined for four touchdown catches in Sunday's win, with Jayden Reed scoring one and Romeo Doubs adding two. Returning to action Sunday
Watson (ankle) is listed as active Sunday against the Cardinals, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.
Analysis: Initially slated to miss multiple games due to what was reported to be a high left-ankle sprain, Watson will miss only one contest as a result. Because he was limited in practice Wednesday through Friday, he may not be able to handle his typical workload, which was at least 54 percent of snaps in each of the first three weeks of the campaign. If he's not at full health, Watson likely will cede snaps to the likes of Dontayvion Wicks, Malik Heath and Bo Melton behind Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs.

Listed as questionable
Watson (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Paul Bretl of ESPN La Crosse reports.
Analysis: Watson was a limited practice participant Wednesday through Friday, after suffering the injury Week 4 and missing Week 5. Multiple reports suggested a high-ankle sprain as the diagnosis, but Watson's father (former NFL safety Tim Watson) revealed Wednesday that the wide receiver is recovering from a medial ankle sprain. The updated diagnosis doesn't mean Watson will play this Sunday, but the Packers are at least keeping the door open ahead of a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. His availability impacts…read more

Another limited practice
Watson (ankle) practiced on a limited basis Thursday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: After departing the Packers' Week 4 loss to the Vikings with a left high-ankle sprain, Watson seemed in line for a multi-game absence, as is the case for most such injuries. However, Watson now has been able to log back-to-back capped sessions this week, potentially opening the door for a return to action as soon as Sunday against the Cardinals. Limited in return to practice
Watson (ankle) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Just 10 days removed from suffering a left high-ankle sprain Week 4 against the Vikings that sidelined him this past Sunday at the Rams, Watson was able to return to the practice field. It's no surprise that he managed only limited reps considering the nature of the injury, but he may not miss as much time as initially expected. Ultimately, how Watson fares in practice Thursday and Friday likely will determine whether or not he's ruled out ahead of Sunday's contest versus the Cardinals.

Spotted at practice Wednesday
Watson (ankle) was seen participating in the portion of Wednesday's practice open to the media, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Watson is back at practice for the first time since suffering a high-ankle sprain Week 4 against the Vikings. Though the injury is often one that sidelines players for multiple games, Watson's ability to practice in some capacity to begin Week 6 prep could give him a chance to return to action Sunday against the Cardinals after he sat out the Week 5 win over the Rams. Romeo Doubs also returned to practice Wednesday after his one-game suspension.

Officially inactive Sunday
Watson (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game at the Rams, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.
Analysis: Watson will miss the first of what is expected be multiple games after he came out of the Week 4 loss to the Vikings with a high left-ankle sprain. Green Bay also will be without Romeo Doubs (suspension) in Week 5, so Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Bo Melton and Malik Heath are the team's available wide receivers Sunday. Officially doubtful
Watson (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game at the Rams, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Watson is recovering from a high-ankle sprain, and while there's been some optimism that it isn't an especially severe case of the injury, his absence from practice all week suggests he's highly unlikely to play this Sunday. With Romeo Doubs (personal) also listed as doubtful, Dontayvion Wicks and Bo Melton figure to get most of the perimeter WR snaps alongside standout slot man Jayden Reed. There's also a decent chance Reed gets more playing time than usual in two-wide formations.

Sits out Thursday's practice
Watson (ankle) didn't participate in Thursday's practice, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
Analysis: Though head coach Matt LaFleur said Wednesday that Watson will avoid a stint on injured reserve after suffering a high-ankle sprain in this past Sunday's loss to Minnesota, the injury will almost certainly force the wideout to miss at least a game or two. Unsurprisingly, Watson has missed the Packers' first two Week 5 practices, and if he remains sidelined again Friday, he'll likely be ruled out in advance of Sunday's trip to Los Angeles against the Rams.

Will avoid injured reserve
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Wednesday that Watson won't be placed on injured reserve due to the high-ankle sprain that he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Vikings, Zach Kruse of USA Today reports.
Analysis: A high-ankle sprain typically results in a multi-game absence, but the Packers apparently believe that he won't be sidelined for at least four contests, which is what an IR stint would require. Predictably, he didn't take part in Wednesday's practice, per Bill Huber of SI.com, and Watson likely will be ruled out by week's end ahead of Sunday's road game against the Rams. High-ankle sprain considered mild
Watson (ankle) has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain, but the injury is reportedly viewed as mild and unlikely to result in the wideout being placed on injured reserve, NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reports.
Analysis: Watson was reported to be a candidate for injured reserve as recently as Monday, but it appears the 2022 second-round pick has received some good news regarding the injury he sustained in a loss to the Vikings on Sunday. Green Bay not placing Watson on IR would indicate the team believes he'll be able to retake the field within the next four games. At a minimum, though, Watson seems destined to sit out Sunday's road matchup against the Rams, which will provide Dontayvion Wicks an opportunity to…read more

Believed to have high-ankle sprain
Watson (ankle) is believed to have sustained a high-ankle sprain during Sunday's 31-29 loss to the Vikings and is a candidate for injured reserve, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The Packers likely will have Watson undergo further tests Monday to confirm the severity of his injury. The 2022 second-round pick missed a combined 10 games in 2023 due to recurring hamstring injuries and dedicated the offseason to fixing those underlying issues, but he had to be carted off the field Sunday after his legs got tangled up under defender Kamu Grugier-Hill. Ankle injury thought to be sprain
Coach Matt LaFleur said after Sunday's 31-29 loss to the Vikings that Watson relayed to him that he believes he suffered a sprained ankle during the game, Zach Jacobson of 247Sports.com reports.
Analysis: The severity of the potential sprain isn't known, but Watson had his legs bent back awkwardly on his last play before he eventually was ruled out of Sunday's contest. He'll likely undergo testing to determine the extent of the injury, but if he ends up missing time, the Packers' receiving corps will be composed of Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks, Bo Melton and Malik Heath for as long as he may be sidelined.

Ruled out of Week 4
Watson won't return to Sunday's game against the Vikings due to an ankle injury.
Analysis: On the first of Jordan Love's two interceptions in the first half, Watson's legs were bent back awkwardly, and he remained on the turf for a few minutes before walking off the field under his own power. He then needed a cart to get to the locker room. For the rest of Week 4, Dontayvion Wicks, Bo Melton and Malik Heath will be tasked with WR assignments that don't go to starters Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs.

Watson (ankle) was forced out of Sunday's game against the Vikings with an ankle injury.

Makes most of two targets
Watson recorded two receptions on two targets for 67 yards in Sunday's 30-14 win over the Titans.
Analysis: The Packers were unlikely to be aggressive through the air with Malik Willis under center for the second consecutive week, and they could afford to be even more conservative due to maintaining a significant lead for the majority of the contest. That limited Watson's opportunity, though he did manage catches of 37 and 30 yards in the first half. Jayden Reed has operated as the team's top pass catcher, though Watson should find more consistent production once Jordan Love (knee) can return.

No targets in Week 2
Watson wasn't targeted during Sunday's 16-10 win versus the Colts.
Analysis: The Packers offense was without Jordan Love (knee) for the first of potentially multiple games, so there were bound to be significant changes to the breakdown of touches with Malik Willis leading the way. However, Watson wasn't on the receiving end of any of Willis' 14 passes, and none of the team's 53 carries were allotted to him, while fellow WRs Jayden Reed and even Bo Melton were a part of the rushing attack with two apiece. Quiet in season opener
Watson recorded three catches on five targets for 13 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 34-29 loss to the Eagles.
Analysis: Watson finished with the fewest targets, catches and yards among Green Bay's starting wideout trio that also includes Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs, though he salvaged his performance from a fantasy perspective with a two-yard touchdown grab in the third quarter. The North Dakota State product has shown a nose for the end zone in his NFL career thus far, as Friday's score was his 15th (13 receiving and two rushing) through 24 regular-season games. Avoids trouble with knee
Watson is on track to practice Thursday after getting hit on the knee at the end of Wednesday's practice, Paul Bretl of ESPN La Crosse 105.5 FM reports.
Analysis: Watson apparently meant it when he downplayed his knee bruise after Wednesday's practice. It looks like it won't cost him any reps, and the more important thing is that he's avoided hamstring injuries (or any other muscular issues) throughout the offseason and now into training camp. There's still some question about target volume in an offense with so many weapons, but Watson's combination of height and speed should make him an important part of the offense as long as he avoids the hamstring…read more

Downplays practice injury
Watson, who relayed that he took a hit to the knee on the last play of practice Wednesday, downplayed the issue afterward, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports. "It's a little sore, but it's just a bruise, so nothing that's going to stop me from doing anything," Watson said. "Right now, it's died down a lot, so if we had a practice right now, then I think I would be good to go."
Analysis: While the wideout evidently avoided a concerning injury, he's not a sure bet to play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Browns. Head coach Matt LaFleur has previously said that the Packers will be cautious with banged-up players in the preseason opener, even those who are dealing with minor injuries.

Feels more confident in hamstring
After undergoing eight hours of testing at the University of Wisconsin's School of Medicine earlier in the offseason, Watson believes he has solved his right hamstring issues that have caused him to miss several games through his first two seasons, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: "For me, it really was the asymmetry between the legs," Watson explained. "It comes from a lot of things. Obviously, the issues I've had in the past with hamstrings, not fully recovering from those strength-wise. I've been attacking the strength side of it, trying to get that symmetry back and it's been huge for me. I feel really, really good. I gotta continue grinding at it." Team optimistic after testing
The Packers feel like they have a better understanding of Watson's injury issues after he underwent a body scan at University of Wisconsin-Madison earlier this offseason, Wes Hodkiewicz of Packers.com reports.
Analysis: Hamstring problems resulted in multi-game absences three times during Watson's first two NFL seasons, and he was removed early from other contests with a concussion (Week 8 of 2022), chest injury (Week 9 of 2022), hip injury (Week 16 of 2022) and back/chest injury (Week 9 of 2023). Watson said Monday that he plans to undergo offseason medical testing to determine why he's battled recurring hamstring injuries in his NFL career, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
Analysis: Watson missed the last five games of the regular season due to a hamstring injury, and though he managed to return for Green Bay's two playoff games, he was ineffective in those contests. His efforts culminated in securing one catch for 11 yards on two targets during Saturday's loss to the 49ers in the divisional round. Analysis: Watson put an end to a five-game absence this past Sunday at Dallas due to a strained right hamstring, but the Packers contained him to 23 of 56 offensive snaps. The result was one catch for nine yards, while fellow wide receiver Romeo Doubs (6-151-1 on six targets) dominated the attention of quarterback Jordan Love. Analysis: Watson returned for Green Bay's wild-card win over Dallas after missing the final five games of the regular season, though he played only 41 percent of his team's snaps on offense and was targeted just once. Analysis: A hamstring injury caused Watson to miss five straight games prior to his return in Green Bay's wild-card victory over the Cowboys. He finished the contest with one reception for nine yards on his only target. Given his lengthy absence, it is unsurprising to see the Packers exercising caution with Watson early in the week. One catch in wild-card round win
Watson (hamstring) caught his lone target for nine yards in Sunday's 48-32 wild-card round win over the Cowboys.
Analysis: Watson barely saw any involvement in the blowout win, as Romeo Doubs produced a career-high 151 receiving yards and caught one of Jordan Love's three touchdown passes, which were complemented by a trio of Aaron Jones touchdown runs. While Watson's hamstring injury probably won't keep him out of the divisional round in San Francisco, the injury still appears to be hampering the second-year wideout's effectiveness.

Watson (hamstring) is listed as active for Sunday's wild-card game at Dallas.
Analysis: Watson thus will return to action for the first time since Week 13, when he strained his right hamstring near the end of a win over the Chiefs. It's fair to wonder how many snaps he'll be able to handle Sunday after being listed as limited on all three Packers injury reports this week, but the 2022 second-rounder will be in the mix for passes from quarterback Jordan Love alongside wide receivers Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks and Bo Melton. Watson, who is listed as questionable for Sunday's wild-card game in Dallas, will test his injured right hamstring out in pregame warmups before a determination is made if he'll play in the postseason opener, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The Packers reportedly have some optimism that Watson will be able to play for the first time since the Dec. 3 win over the Chiefs, but he'll need to make it though the workout no worse for the wear in order to make himself available Sunday. With that in mind, Watson appears to be shaping up a game-time decision, with official word on his status likely to arrive when Green Bay releases its inactive list 90 minutes prior to the game's 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff. Questionable for wild-card round
Coach Matt LaFleur said Friday that Watson (hamstring) will be listed as questionable for Sunday's wild-card game at Dallas, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
Analysis: After managing a limited walkthrough Wednesday and a capped practice Thursday, Watson will enter the weekend with a chance to return to action. He hasn't suited up since suffering a right hamstring strain Week 13 against the Chiefs, and if he's unable to attain active status Sunday, the Packers otherwise will have the rest of their regular wide receivers available to the offense, with Romeo Doubs (chest) avoiding a game-day designation.

Stays limited at practice
Watson (hamstring) practiced on a limited basis Thursday.
Analysis: For a second consecutive week, Watson has opened it with limited sessions on both occasions. However, he capped Week 18 prep with a DNP at Friday's practice, which was followed by a fifth absence in a row this past Sunday against the Bears. As such, Watson's listing this Friday could be telling for his potential to play for the first time since straining his right hamstring Week 13 versus the Chiefs. Limited at Wednesday's walkthrough
Watson (hamstring) was a limited participant at Wednesday's walkthrough, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: During Week 18 prep, the Packers were ready to gauge where Watson stood in his recovery from the strained right hamstring that had sidelined him for five games in row. He opened last week with two straight limited practices before getting a day of rest Friday, as head coach Matt LaFleur relayed to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. The on-field work wasn't enough for Watson to return to action for this past Sunday's win over the Bears, and he's kicking off this week in a similar spot to last…read more

Sitting out again Sunday
Watson (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's contest versus the Bears, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.
Analysis: After straining his right hamstring Week 13 against the Chiefs, Watson was held out of every practice for the next four weeks. He logged as many consecutive absences on game day as a result, but his presence on the practice field as limited Wednesday and Thursday before getting a rest day Friday opened the door for his return to action. Analysis: Coach Matt LaFleur downplayed Watson's absence from Friday's practice, telling reporters that the Packers "felt like (Watson) had two good days of practice and wanted to give him today off ," per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. The team listed Watson as a limited participant Wednesday and Thursday, following four straight weeks of missed practices and games. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Watson (hamstring) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
Analysis: Watson isn't yet in the clear for Sunday's regular-season finale versus the Bears, but he's put himself in a good position to end his four-game absence this weekend after practicing in a limited fashion Wednesday and Thursday. With a wild-card spot on the line in Week 18, quarterback Jordan Love could have close to his full complement of offensive weapons available. Analysis: Watson will miss his fourth consecutive contest due to a strained right hamstring, which hasn't allowed him to mix into drills in the meantime. He'll likely need to do so in order to have any chance of suiting up Week 18 against the Bears, but the Packers' receiving corps this Sunday will be composed of Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Malik Heath, Samori Toure and Bo Melton with Dontayvion Wicks (chest/ankle) also sitting out.

Fellow wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks (chest/ankle) also wasn't taking part in drills for a second session in a row Thursday, so the Packers' receiving corps again appears as if it'll be at less than 100 percent Sunday at Minnesota.

Sits out practice Wednesday
Watson (hamstring) took part in Wednesday's team stretch but ultimately didn't join his teammates for practice, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
Analysis: Watson's next on-field work will mark his first since straining his right hamstring in the waning moments of the Packers' Week 13 win over the Chiefs. Meanwhile, fellow wide receivers Jayden Reed (toe/chest) was a limited participant Wednesday and Dontayvion Wicks (chest/ankle) was listed as a non-participant, so Green Bay's receiving corps will need to be monitored over the final two Week 17 practices to get a sense of who among the trio might be available for Sunday's game at Minnesota.

Analysis: Watson hasn't practiced since straining his right hamstring in the last few minutes of a Week 13 win against the Chiefs. He showed some progress in his recovery by donning a helmet and cleats while taking part in Friday's team stretch. Watson (hamstring) is listed as inactive Sunday versus the Buccaneers, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.
Analysis: This was more or less a guarantee because Watson hasn't practiced since injuring his right hamstring Week 13 against the Chiefs and was listed as doubtful ahead of Week 15 action. Analysis: Watson was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's estimated injury report before sitting out Thursday's walkthrough, so another missed session likely would put him in danger of being inactive for a second straight game Sunday against the Buccaneers. Watson, who officially didn't practice Thursday, said he isn't sure whether he'll be able to play Monday at the Giants, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: Watson didn't make his first catch until midway through the third quarter, but his subsequent 11-yard touchdown nonetheless marked a key second-half play. With quarterback Jordan Love throwing for a career-high 322 yards, though, Watson finished seventh on the Packers in receiving. Analysis: Even if he's merely a limited participant, Watson's presence on the field to begin Week 8 prep is a strong indication that he avoided a major injury when he limped off the field at the end of Sunday's 19-17 loss to Denver. He was hurt on Green Bay's second-to-last offensive snap and thus missed just one play (a game-sealing Denver interception).

Injures knee on final drive
Watson appeared to injure his right knee on the final drive of Sunday's 19-17 loss to Denver, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The injury wasn't reported by Green Bay because it happened on the team's penultimate snap, one play before Jordan Love threw a game-sealing interception. Watson had minor surgery on his right knee last June and has missed time on multiple occasions due to hamstring/thigh injuries to that same leg.

Makes three grabs
Watson caught three of five targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Broncos.
Analysis: Watson's output largely came from a 23-yard reception during the second half. Although he's made a catch of 20-plus yards in each of his three appearances this season, Watson hobbled off the field and was being attended to by trainers after bending awkwardly on his final target late in the game. That situation leaves some monitoring to be done ahead of the Week 8 contest versus the Vikings.

Team-high yardage tally in loss
Watson secured three of seven targets for 91 yards and rushed once for minus-5 yards in the Packers' 17-13 loss to the Raiders on Monday night.
Analysis: Watson came up with the biggest play of the night by far for the Packers on a 77-yard grab on the first play of a mid-third-quarter drive that culminated in a field goal. The speedster was also the intended receiver on Jordan Love's third and final interception of the night, a play where Watson appeared to have broken free for a would-be touchdown had the ball been thrown a couple of seconds earlier. Cleared to play
Watson (hamstring) was not listed with an injury designation ahead of Monday's contest against the Raiders, Anthony Galaviz of The Fresno Bee reports.
Analysis: It'll be interesting to see how much work Watson receives Monday with no injury designation given the productive wideout was close to a game-time decision last week against the Lions. In that eventual drubbing, Watson played just 45 percent of the offensive snaps, although it's hard to tell if he would have been out there for more had the game been a bit more competitive during the second half. The Packers have a bye in Week 6, so it's at least somewhat telling for fantasy managers that the…read more

Limited in practice Friday
Watson (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Friday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Watson returned for Thursday Night Football in Week 4 and put up a 2-25-1 line on four targets in a part-time role. He figures to get a lot more playing time -- and probably more targets -- with an 11-day gap between games ahead of Monday's contest in Las Vegas. If Watson does handle a full-time role for the first time since late last season, it'll likely mean less playing time for rookies Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks.

Limited to begin Week 5 prep
Watson (hamstring) was limited at Thursday's practice, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: In his season debut last Thursday versus the Lions, Watson handled 26 of 57 snaps on offense, ranking fourth among Packers wide receivers behind Romeo Doubs (50), Jayden Reed (38) and Dontayvion Wicks (33) and ahead of Samori Toure (11). Watson made the most of the opportunity, with one of his two catches resulting in a one-yard touchdown early in the third quarter. Relatively quiet in debut
Watson (hamstring) brought in two of four targets for 25 yards and a touchdown in the Packers' 34-20 loss to the Lions on Thursday night.
Analysis: Watson's season debut would have been a total dud had it not been for a one-yard touchdown grab just before the midway point of the third quarter. The speedy second-year wideout was way behind fellow starter Romeo Doubs, who turned 13 targets into a 9-95 line. The 24-year-old Watson was also the intended receiver on Jordan Love's first interception of the night, which came at the Packers' 27-yard line early in the second quarter and led to the Lions' first touchdown. Making season debut Thursday
Watson (hamstring) is active for Thursday's game against the Lions.
Analysis: The Packers held Watson out of the first three games of the season due to a lingering hamstring injury, but after being listed as limited twice in back-to-back weeks, the second-year pro is set to make his season debut. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported earlier Thursday that Green Bay is expected to be cautious with Watson, which may mean he earns a workload similar to the one Romeo Doubs handled Week 1 (48 percent) coming off his own hamstring issue. Likely to suit up Thursday
Watson (hamstring), who is listed as questionable, is expected to suit up for Thursday's contest against the Lions, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Along with Watson, running back Aaron Jones (hamstring) carries a questionable tag into the NFC North showdown, but both playmakers look on track to suit up Thursday. If Watson is cleared to play when the Packers release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to the game's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, he could have his snap count managed, though the team hasn't formally clarified its plans for the wideout. Analysis: Watson is being listed as questionable for the fourth straight week, but the wideout looks as though he'll have a good chance at making his season debut Thursday after telling reporters that he expects to play. Not yet medically cleared
Coach Matt LaFleur said that Watson (hamstring) hasn't been medically cleared as of Tuesday, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Analysis: The wideout was listed as limited at Tuesday's walkthrough, but Watson relayed to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic that he plans to be active Thursday against the Lions. Considering LaFleur's comments, Watson still has a hurdle or two to clear before the Packers will feel comfortable allowing him to make his season debut. There's a chance his Week 4 status will be a game-time decision.

Watson (hamstring) was listed as limited on Tuesday's practice estimate, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The Packers logged their first on-field work of Week 4 prep with a walkthrough, and Watson got in some reps as he pushes to make his season debut Thursday against the Lions. The wideout said, "that's the plan," when asked Tuesday by Matt Schneidman of The Athletic if he'll be back this week, but confirmation of his status may not come until 90 minutes before an 8:15 p.m. EDT kickoff.

Watson (hamstring) said Tuesday that he plans to play in Thursday's matchup versus the Lions, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Watson has yet to play this season due to a hamstring injury, but it appears he's pushing to make his debut in Week 4. The second-year wideout was listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated injury report, however, so he only has a couple days left to show he's ready to rejoin the lineup.

Questionable for Week 3
Watson (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus the Saints, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
Analysis: After opening Week 3 prep with a limited practice Wednesday, Watson was held out Thursday. Coach Matt LaFleur downplayed the DNP, telling Matt Schneidman of The Athletic that was part of the maintenance plan with Watson's workload as he makes his way back from the hamstring injury that sidelined him for the first two games of the season. Sits out Thursday, but no setback
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said that Watson (hamstring) was a non-participant for Thursday's practice as part of a maintenance plan for the wideout rather than because of a setback, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic
Analysis: Watson sat out the Packers' first two games due to the hamstring injury, but he showed some tangible progress last Friday, when he logged his first limited practice session of the regular season. The wideout remained a limited participant for the Packers' first Week 3 practice Wednesday, and even though Watson took a step back in terms of activity Thursday, hope isn't lost for the wideout to potentially play this Sunday against the Saints. Analysis: After opening Week 3 prep with a limited session Wednesday, Watson doesn't appear to be ready to go with the hamstring injury that has kept him sidelined for the first two games of the campaign. Despite the lack of game action, he logged a limited session last Friday and took part in individual drills Wednesday, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com. Analysis: Watson missed the first two games of the season but at least sparked some optimism about being close to a return after he practiced last Friday on a limited basis. Analysis: Watson made some progress with the hamstring injury that sidelined him in the season opener last Sunday in Chicago, logging a limited practice Friday before getting a questionable designation for this contest. Still, the Packers will exercise caution with their No. 1 wide receiver and hold him out for a second consecutive game. Analysis: The end-of-week return after two missed practices suggests Watson has better odds to play than RB Aaron Jones, who is also listed as questionable but missed three straight practices with a hamstring injury. Romeo Doubs' hamstring injury is less of a concern at this point, as he scored two TDs while playing through it last week and now doesn't have an injury designation for Week 2. Misses one TD, scores another
Watson caught one of three targets for a six-yard touchdown in Saturday's preseason game against Seattle.
Analysis: Watson and QB Jordan Love, among other starters, played the first three drives of the game against Seattle's second-string defense. Watson got behind everyone for a potential 49-yard TD on the final drive, but he was unable to make a tough play after Love badly underthrew him. Strong finish to rookie campaign
Watson (hip) corralled five of six targets for 104 yards and rushed twice for 12 yards in Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Lions.
Analysis: Watson's rookie year got off to a nightmarish start when he dropped a potential huge touchdown out of the gates that led to confidence issues and early struggles. The second-round pick got things rolling midseason when he ripped off eight touchdowns over a four-game span, and he didn't surrender the No. 1 wideout role from that point forward. Watson's strong finish to the season should have fantasy managers looking for a big sophomore leap from the explosive wideout in 2023.

Cleared to play Sunday
Watson (hip) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Detroit, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: A hip injury caused Watson to miss the second half of Green Bay's Week 16 contest, and he then managed only one catch for 11 yards in Week 17 while playing 60 percent of snaps in a 41-17 win over the Vikings. The blowout nature of the game affected his playing time, but there's real competition for snaps/targets with Allen Lazard, Romeo Doubs and Randall Cobb all healthy. He was targeted eight times in the first half, and fellow rookie Romeo Doubs joined Allen Lazard as a near-full-time starter in the second half (with Randall Cobb working the slot). Set for limited practice
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Watson (hip) will return to practice Thursday as a limited participant, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: After missing the entire second half of Sunday's 26-20 win in Miami with the hip issue, Watson was a spectator Wednesday in the Packers' first Week 17 session. The rookie wideout looks like he'll be able to go through at least a handful of drills Thursday, a positive development with regard to his chances of playing Sunday against the Vikings. Ultimately, the Packers will wait until after Friday's practice before deciding whether Watson approaches the Week 17 contest with an injury designation.

Not able to practice
Watson (hip) didn't practice Wednesday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that he considers Watson day-to-day after the rookie sat out the second half of Sunday's 26-20 win in Miami. Fellow rookie Romeo Doubs played more than 80 percent of Green Bay's offensive snaps in the second half, after Watson caught six of eight targets for 49 yards in the first half. Lazard, Doubs and Randall Cobb will likely be Green Bay's top three wide receivers if Watson isn't available this Sunday against Minnesota.

Considered day-to-day
Head coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that Watson (hip) is considered day-to-day, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Watson caught six of eight passes for 49 yards in the first half of Sunday's win at Miami, but he was deemed questionable coming out of halftime with a hip issue and eventually was ruled out. However, it appears the injury isn't serious, and the rookie wideout will have a chance to suit up Sunday against the Vikings. The Packers' practice report Wednesday may provide further clarity on Watson's availability for Week 17.

Ruled out Sunday
Watson (hip) won't return to Sunday's game in Miami.
Analysis: Watson put together a productive first half, gathering in six of eight targets for 49 yards. However, he emerged from halftime as questionable to return due to a hip issue, which will end his Week 16 after all. With Watson in street clothes for the rest of Sunday, the Packers will be down to Allen Lazard, Romeo Doubs, Randall Cobb and Samori Toure at wide receiver.

Watson departed Sunday's game at Miami due to a hip injury.
Analysis: The Packers made the announcement after halftime, at which point Watson had hauled in six of eight targets for 49 yards. If he's unable to return, the team's receiving corps will have been whittled down to Allen Lazard, Romeo Doubs, Randall Cobb and Samori Toure.

Fails to extend TD streak
Watson caught four of six targets for 46 yards in Monday's 24-12 win over the Rams.
Analysis: Watson maintained his status as the Packers' No. 1 wideout despite the return of fellow rookie Romeo Doubs (ankle) from injured reserve. The 23-year-old Watson failed to extend his four-game scoring streak -- in which he produced a whopping seven touchdowns -- but he did lead the team in targets. Watson could have kept his impressive streak alive had he not ran an incorrect route on the Packers' final drive that would have resulted in a wide-open touchdown. Continues scoring spree
Watson caught three of six targets for 48 yards and a touchdown, and rushed once for 46 yards and another score in Sunday's 28-19 win over the Bears.
Analysis: Watson is one of the league's hottest playmakers, as he's now scored eight times in his last four games. The rookie's first touchdown Sunday came on a crucial, 14-yard catch on fourth down to close the first half. Watson then sealed the game by going untouched on a 46-yard jet sweep with under two minutes left. Stays hot with long score
Watson had four receptions (six targets) for 110 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 40-33 loss to the Eagles.
Analysis: Watson remained scorching hot with his second 100-plus yard game over the last three weeks, while also chipping in his sixth total touchdown over that same timeframe. The surging rookie did most of his damage on a 63-yard catch and run from a crisp slant thrown by backup Jordan Love late in Sunday's narrow defeat. Another two touchdowns Thursday
Watson brought in four of six targets for 48 yards and two touchdowns and added a three-yard rush in the Packers' 27-17 loss to the Titans on Thursday night.
Analysis: Watson was third on the team in receptions, receiving yards and targets on the night for the Packers, but he was once again on the receiving end of all of Aaron Rodgers' touchdown tosses. The rookie recorded scoring grabs of 14 and eight yards in the first and third quarters, respectively, giving him five end-zone trips in the last four days. Watson's next opportunity to extend that torrid stretch comes in a tough Week 12 road matchup against the Eagles a week from Sunday night.

Puts in full practice
Watson (ankle) was a full participant in Tuesday's practice.
Analysis: As expected, the ankle issue that resulted in Watson being labeled as a limited participant on Monday's estimated practice report doesn't look to be anything that will prevent him from playing in Thursday's game against the Titans. The rookie wideout will be looking to build on his breakthrough performance in the Packers' overtime win over the Cowboys last weekend, when he hauled in four of eight targets for 107 yards and three touchdowns.

Watson is listed as limited on Monday's practice estimate due to an ankle issue.
Analysis: So far this season, Watson has tended to knee, hamstring and head injuries, meaning this is a new health concern. He's coming off the best performance of his rookie campaign, as he hauled in four of eight targets for 107 yards and the first three touchdowns of his career during Sunday's overtime win over the Cowboys. Watson (chest) hauled in four of eight targets for 107 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 31-28 overtime win over Dallas.
Analysis: Watson got off to a rough start with two drops early in the contest, but Aaron Rodgers kept faith in his young receiver, and the duo was rewarded with a trio of trips to the end zone. The 2022 second-round pick has battled injury and poor play through nine weeks, but Sunday's standout performance should place him back on the map in fantasy circles. Watson is under evaluation for a concussion during Sunday's contest at Detroit.

Watson (concussion) is active for Sunday's game against the Lions, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.
Analysis: After exiting the Packers' Week 8 loss to the Bills upon entering the concussion protocol, Watson sat out practice Wednesday before advancing to limited participation Thursday and Friday. Watson's active status implies that he cleared the NFL's five-step concussion protocol and some point after Friday's practice, so he's not expected to face any limitations Sunday. Watson (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Detroit, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Watson returned from a hamstring injury last week but then suffered a concussion in the first quarter of an eventual loss to the Commanders. He could be a big part of the offense soon enough, especially if he's active for Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff while fellow wideout Allen Lazard (questionable - shoulder) doesn't play. Watson (concussion) didn't practice Wednesday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The rookie returned from a hamstring injury for Sunday's loss to Buffalo, only to enter concussion protocol in the first quarter and miss the rest of the game. Watson could have a sizable role once he gets healthy, especially if Allen Lazard (shoulder) misses more time, though Lazard returned to practice Wednesday as a limited participant. Watson (concussion) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Bills.
Analysis: After returning from a two-game absence due to a hamstring injury, Watson promptly picked up a new injury and exited in the first quarter. With Allen Lazard (shoulder) sidelined Sunday, the Packers will be rolling with Romeo Doubs, Sammy Watkins, Watson, Samori Toure and Amari Rodgers at wide receiver. Analysis: The rookie was a limited practice participant Wednesday through Friday, with head coach Matt LaFleur saying at the end of the week that he's "cautiously optimistic" about Watson playing, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. If he suits up ahead of the 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday, Watson presumably would slot in somewhere behind Romeo Doubs and Sammy Watkins on the depth chart, unlikely to handle a three-down role even with Allen Lazard (shoulder) ruled out.

He garnered three targets and did not do much in the passing game, but he did put his speed on display on a second quarter jet sweep that netted him his first career score. Analysis: Green Bay got the ball in Watson's hands around the line of scrimmage and let him try to pick up yards after the catch with his mix of size and speed, but the rookie second-round pick didn't get any opportunities downfield after an egregious drop in his NFL debut. Although he subsequently got involved as a ball carrier and made a couple catches late in the game, the rookie second-rounder will surely strive for a better showing in Week 2 versus the Bears. Works into full-team sessions
Watson (knee) fully participated during the Packers' 11-on-11 drills Monday for the first time this preseason, Mike Spofford of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Watson followed up his debut in team sessions Sunday with an impressive 25-yard reception over cornerback Rico Gafford toward the end of second-team 11-on-11 drills Monday, according to Spofford. The rookie wideout has been hampered this preseason while recovering from an offseason knee procedure, though this leaping grab Monday seems to indicate that he's fully healthy for the first time since the start of training camp. Barring any setbacks, Watson should be set to make his preseason debut…read more

Logging snaps in team drills
Watson (knee) will participate in some team drills beginning Sunday, Zach Kruse of the USA Today reports.
Analysis: "He'll get some team reps today, and we'll see how he responds," coach Matt LaFleur noted Sunday of the rookie wideout. Watson, who missed the first two weeks of training camp while bouncing back from a knee procedure, was in uniform for Friday's preseason game against the Saints but didn't play. With that in mind, Kruse suggests that it's possible the 2022 second-rounder could see action in Green Bay's preseason finale (Thursday against the Chiefs) in the absence of any setbacks in the coming…read more

Not expected to play Friday
Watson (knee) isn't in line to play in Friday's preseason game against the Saints, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Having said that, Watson went through pregame warmups with the Packers' wide receiver group, which is another sign of progress after returning to practice this past Sunday. The rookie second-round pick spent most of training camp on the active/PUP list after undergoing a procedure on his knee following the offseason program. Watson will have one more chance to make an appearance during exhibition season Thursday at Kansas City.

Returning to practice
Coach Matt LaFleur relayed that Watson (knee) is slated to return to practice Sunday, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
Analysis: While that is step in the right direction for Watson, who is bouncing back from a knee procedure, LaFleur indicated that the 2022 second-rounder figures to be eased into the mix, beginning by participating in individual drills and walkthroughs before moving on to team drills. Once he's up to speed, Watson will look to secure a key early season role in a Green Bay wide receiver corps that also includes Allen Lazard, Sammy Watkins and Randall Cobb, among others.

Recovering from knee surgery
Watson clarified Thursday that he's "day-to-day" following offseason knee surgery that forced him to begin training camp on the active/PUP list, Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Watson added his knee experienced discomfort while running and cutting late in OTAs, and he eventually underwent a procedure to address it. The rookie second-round pick doesn't have a timeline to return to the field, but considering his comments Thursday, he at least has a chance to play in the preseason, even if his activity at the start of training camp is delayed. Once he's available, Watson will be in the mix for targets from Aaron Rodgers along with Allen Lazard, Sammy Watkins…read more

Expected to miss time
Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said Wednesday that Watson (undisclosed) will "miss a little bit of time" after having a medical procedure during the offseason, Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Neither player nor team has provided details on Watson's injury, apart from the Packers placing him on the PUP list and suggesting that he required a procedure but shouldn't be out for too long. Even if Watson makes it back within a week or two, the late start to camp isn't ideal for a rookie wideout who needs to make a good impression on demanding veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Hitting PUP list
The Packers placed Watson (undisclosed) on the active/PUP list Friday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: In the wake of the Davante Adams trade, the Packers were in the market for reinforcements at wide receiver and made a splash on Day 2 of this year's draft, trading up to select Watson in the second round, 34th overall. At 6-foot-4, 208 pounds, Watson combines his length with a 4.36-second 40, giving him similar traits to another offseason departure at the position (Marquez Valdes-Scantling). Before he'll get a chance to build a rapport with Aaron Rodgers in training camp, though, Watson will…read more
