No catches against Buffalo
Austin failed to secure either of his two targets during Sunday's 26-7 loss to the Bills.
Analysis: Austin has had limited production for most of the season, but Sunday's Week 13 loss marked the first time this year that he was held without a catch. Across 10 appearances this year, he's secured 26 of 44 targets for 278 yards and two touchdowns.

Makes four catches
Austin recorded four receptions on five targets for 36 yards in Sunday's 31-28 loss to the Bears.
Analysis: After a quiet showing in Week 11, Austin rebounded to his more typical role. He has between five and seven targets in four of his last five games, though he's struggled to make an impact with that opportunity. Austin has been held to 40 receiving yards or less in all but two of his 10 contests and hasn't found the end zone since Week 3.

Minimal workload against Cincinnati
Austin secured his lone target for five yards during Sunday's 34-12 win over the Bengals.
Analysis: Austin had played at least 50 percent of the Steelers' offensive snaps in his first seven appearances of the season, but he was on the field for just 29 percent during Sunday's comfortable victory. The 2022 fourth-rounder was held to single-digit receiving yards for the first time this year, but Pittsburgh was playing without QB Aaron Rodgers (wrist) during the second half. Even if Austin's playing time bounces back down the stretch, he'll likely have limited fantasy upside as long as DK…read more

Held to 14 yards
Austin recorded two receptions on seven targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 25-10 loss to the Chargers.
Analysis: Austin tied DK Metcalf for the team lead in targets, also his highest mark of the season. However, the results didn't follow in a poor offensive showing from the Steelers. Austin had miscues of his own, including a dropped pass that was intercepted midway through the fourth quarter. Austin has earned at least six targets in each of three games since returning from a shoulder injury, though he has only 98 total yards in that span.

Paces Steelers' pass catchers
Austin recorded five receptions on six targets for 56 yards in Sunday's 27-20 win over the Colts.
Analysis: Austin led the Steelers' pass catchers in receptions and yards while tying Darnell Washington in targets. As is typically the case, he was targeted in short areas of the field, though he did manage gains of 18 and 14 yards primarily on yards after the catch. Austin is a key part of Pittsburgh's passing game, though he's reached 30 yards in only half of his six games, minimizing his fantasy impact.

Tallies 28 yards in defeat
Austin secured four of six targets for 28 yards during Sunday's 35-25 loss to the Packers.
Analysis: Austin missed Pittsburgh's last two games due to a shoulder injury, but he played 78 percent of the team's offensive snaps in his return to the field Sunday, which ranked second among the team's wide receivers. However, DK Metcalf and Roman Wilson accounted for most of the Steelers' receiving yards Sunday, while Austin was held under 30 yards for the third time in his last four appearances. Austin has secured 14 of 23 targets for 167 yards and two touchdowns over his first five outings in 2025.

Logs full practice
Austin (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Wednesday.
Analysis: Full participation in his first practice since Week 4 puts Austin on track to return this Sunday against the Packers. Pittsburgh's backup wideouts haven't done much in Austin's absence, with offensive coordinator Arthur Smith instead relying on his tight ends even more than he usually does. Austin was a pleasant surprise for Pittsburgh early in the season with 126 yards and two TDs on 15 targets over his first three games.

Could be back for Week 8
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said that he's "optimistic" that Austin (shoulder) will be able to play in Sunday's game against the Packers, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Austin has missed the Steelers' last two games with a shoulder injury, but Tomlin noted that the wideout has made enough progress in his recovery to be integrated back into practices this week. The extent of Austin's participation in practice will ultimately dictate whether he plays Sunday, but if the 26-year-old is able to turn in at least one full session by Friday, he'll have good odds of gaining clearance to suit up. Sitting out Thursday's game
Austin (shoulder) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Bengals, Nick Farabaugh of Penn Live reports.
Analysis: He hasn't practiced since a Week 5 bye and will now miss as second straight game. Austin's absence from win over the Browns this past Sunday left more playing time available for Scotty Miller (50 percent route share) and Roman Wilson (27 percent), but they combined for just one target -- a 12-yard reception by Wilson. Pittsburgh's passing game will likely run through wideout DK Metcalf along with the tight ends and running backs.

Sits out practice
Austin (shoulder) didn't participate in Tuesday's practice, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Still on the mend from the shoulder injury he sustained in a Week 4 win over the Vikings in Dublin, Austin has yet to resume practicing and appears to be trending toward missing a second straight game Thursday against the Bengals. While Austin was sidelined for this past Sunday's win over the Browns, Scotty Miller and Roman Wilson both benefited from upticks in playing time behind No. 1 wideout DK Metcalf but combined for just one reception.

Estimated as DNP on Monday
Austin (shoulder) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated practice report, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Coach Mike Tomlin said earlier Monday that Austin is questionable for Thursday night's game against the Bengals after he missed the Week 6 win over the Browns following his injury Week 4. Scotty Miller, Roman Wilson and Ben Skowronek would be in line for increased offensive snaps Week 7 if Austin is unable to play, but none of that aforementioned trio would carry any sort of fantasy value in season-long leagues.

Questionable for Week 7
Coach Mike Tomlin said Monday that Austin's (shoulder) status is in question for Thursday night's game against the Bengals, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Austin was injured in the Steelers' Week 4 win over the Vikings and then missed this past Sunday's Week 6 contest against the Browns following Pittsburgh's Week 5 bye. It sounds like he may need another week to recover due to the short week ahead. If Austin does indeed miss Thursday night's game, he'll have 10 days to get ready for a Week 8 date with the Packers. Ruled out for Sunday
Austin (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Browns after not practicing this week.
Analysis: Austin was forced out of a Week 4 win over the Vikings after logging 27 snaps and catching both of his targets for 13 yards, and he'll target a potential return to action next Thursday night against the Bengals. In Austin's absence this weekend, Ben Skowronek, Scotty Miller and Roman Wilson are candidates to see added opportunities behind WR1 DK Metcalf.

Another DNP on Thursday
Austin (shoulder) remained a non-participant in practice Thursday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Austin injured his shoulder in Pittsburgh's Week 4 win over the Vikings, and he has now missed the team's first two practices coming out of a Week 5 bye. Head coach Mike Tomlin said earlier in the week that Austin could ramp up his practice participation as the week progresses, but Austin will likely need to practice in some capacity Friday to give himself a chance to suit up for Sunday's game against the Browns.

Misses practice Wednesday
Austin was a non-participant in Wednesday's practice, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Austin is a player who could ramp up his practice activity "toward the latter part of the week," Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports, but it's nonetheless a bad sign to see the wideout absent from practice despite having had a bye to get right. Austin will presumably need to return to practice as at least a limited participant Thursday and/or Friday in order to have a chance at suiting up Sunday versus the Browns.

Limited coming out of bye week
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Austin (shoulder) will be a limited participant in practice to begin Week 6 prep, but the wideout could ramp up his workload later in the week and potentially be ready to play Sunday against the Browns, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Austin was forced out early in the fourth quarter of the Steelers' 24-21 win over the Vikings in Dublin in Week 4 due to the shoulder injury, but a Week 5 bye has afforded him some time to heal. Though Tomlin noted that Austin aggressively attacked his rehab over the bye week, the Steelers aren't ready to turn him loose for full contact just yet. Exits with shoulder injury
Austin is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Vikings in Dublin due to a shoulder injury, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Austin checked out of the contest early in the fourth quarter and headed to the locker room after he appeared to land hard on the football while falling to the ground on a reception. If Austin's day is over, he'll finish with two catches for 13 yards on two targets to go with nine yards on two punt returns.

Finds end zone again
Austin caught three of five targets for 34 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 21-14 win over the Patriots.
Analysis: The third-year wideout hauled in a 17-yard toss from Aaron Rodgers with a little over two minutes left in the fourth quarter to break a 14-14 tie. Austin has quickly earned the veteran QB's trust, and after scoring five TDs in 34 games through his first two NFL seasons, he already has two in the first three contests of 2025, part of an 8-126-2 line on 15 targets. Austin will look to stay productive in Week 4 against the Vikings.

Struggles against Seattle
Austin recorded one reception on four targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 31-17 loss to Seattle.
Analysis: Austin looked like he was starting a breakout season after a strong Week 1 showing, but his performance took a significant dip in Week 2. Beyond the lackluster stat line, he ran the wrong route in the end zone late in the third quarter, with the ball ultimately being picked by Seattle. Austin is likely to continue to earn snaps, but his production will also remain inconsistent.

Ducks injury report
Austin (abdomen) isn't listed on the injury report for Sunday's game against the Jets.
Analysis: Austin was out for most of August but still figures to reprise his 2024 role as the slot man in three-wide formations. Playing time in heavier formations would help his fantasy value, but that may be a big ask for one of the league's smallest players. Austin figures to run a lot of his routes this Sunday against Jets cornerback Michael Carter, who struggled through an injury-plagued 2024 campaign after previously earning a reputation (and contract) as one of the league's top nickelbacks.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that he expects Austin (abdomen) to be available for Sunday's season opener versus the Jets, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Austin didn't play in any preseason games while tending to an abdominal injury, but he's apparently made good progress in his recovery over the past few weeks and should be ready to suit up Sunday. Before he's officially cleared for Week 1, he'll likely need to put in a full practice by Friday. Not in uniform Thursday
Austin (abdomen) isn't suited up ahead of Thursday's preseason game at Carolina, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.
Analysis: Austin thus won't play during exhibition season due to an abdominal injury that has lingered since at least Aug. 3. The Steelers tinkered with the top of their receiving corps this offseason by swapping out George Pickens (Dallas) for DK Metcalf (Seattle), but Austin otherwise doesn't have much competition for WR reps behind Metcalf. The 2022 fourth-round pick put together a 36-548-4 line on 58 targets in 17 regular-season games last year.

Analysis: Austin continues to work through an abdominal injury from early August that has forced him to miss the Steelers' first two preseason games. He's unlikely to play in Thursday's exhibition contest against the Panthers, and the third-year wideout's status for the Steelers' regular-season opener against the Jets on Sunday, Sept. 7 needs to be monitored. Leading candidate for WR2 spot

Analysis: The Steelers reworked their wideout room over the offseason, jettisoning George Pickens in a trade while also letting Van Jefferson walk in free agency. DK Metcalf was acquired from Seattle, and Pittsburgh also signed 33-year-old Robert Woods. However, it sounds like Austin has a significant lead on Woods and second-year WR Roman Wilson for the starting gig opposite Metcalf. Austin has improved odds for a starting job after the Steelers traded WR George Pickens to Dallas, Chris Adamski of TribLive.com reports.
Analysis: Austin was second among Pittsburgh's wide receivers in targets, catches and yards last season, but he didn't get much playing time in formations with fewer than three wide receivers, and his average of 3.4 targets per game was far below what's needed for fantasy relevance in most leagues. Takes step forward in 2024

Analysis: Although Austin consistently lagged behind Van Jefferson in snap counts in 2024, Austin was the more productive receiver, doubling Jefferson's production in receiving yards and touchdowns. Austin had a limited impact during Pittsburgh's wild-card loss to Baltimore, securing one of two targets for 25 yards, but he still showed some promise during his second healthy season in the NFL. However, he was held in check in Week 18 as the Steelers passed for just 148 yards. Analysis: Although Russell Wilson replaced Justin Fields as the Steelers' starting quarterback for Sunday's matchup, Austin recorded exactly 36 receiving yards for a second consecutive week. The 2022 fourth-rounder has now posted double-digit receiving yards in four of his last five appearances, and he's secured nine of 17 targets for 190 yards and a touchdown during that time. While it's been encouraging to see Austin log some slight consistency, he hasn't yet displayed much fantasy upside early in the…read more

Two grabs in win
Austin caught two of five targets for 36 yards in Sunday's 32-13 win over the Raiders.
Analysis: Austin's five targets Sunday matched a season high, while his 36 percent offensive snap share was a season low. The 25-year-old ranked second in targets among all pass catchers in the contest, but the wideout was unable to get much going with his opportunities. Heading into a Week 7 matchup against the Jets, it's possible that a potential change at quarterback from Justin Fields to Russell Wilson could impact Austin positively, but fantasy managers should exercise caution before trying to fit…read more

Logs just one catch in loss
Austin secured one of two targets for six yards during Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Cowboys.
Analysis: Although Austin was on the field for 76 percent of the of the Steelers' offensive snaps Sunday -- which ranked second among the team's wide receivers -- he was held to just one catch for the fourth time in five appearances this season. The 2022 fourth-rounder had tallied double-digit receiving yards in his two outings before Sunday's prime-time matchup, but he's had a limited target share for most of the year so far.

Held to one catch in defeat
Austin secured his lone target for 17 yards during Sunday's 27-24 loss to Indianapolis.
Analysis: Austin tallied a career-high 95 receiving yards during last week's win over the Chargers, but he didn't see as much work during Sunday's Week 4 defeat. Despite his encouraging performance Week 3, Austin has been limited to just one catch in three of the first four games of the regular season and hasn't yet established himself as a consistent fantasy option.

Scores 55-yard TD in win
Austin caught four of five targets for 95 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-10 win over the Chargers. He also had two punt returns for 20 yards.
Analysis: Austin took a slant to the house for a 55-yard touchdown to round out the scoring in the fourth quarter. He came into the game with just 13 receiving yards this season, so Austin will likely need to prove this performance wasn't a one-off to earn lineup consideration in the majority of fantasy formats. Up next for Austin and the Steelers is a Week 4 trip to Indianapolis.

Austin (undisclosed) was not listed on Wednesday's injury report.
Analysis: Austin spent time in the blue medical tent late during Sunday's win over the Broncos, but he isn't carrying an official injury as Week 3 practice kicks off. In addition to returning five punts for 27 yards versus Denver, Austin reeled in one of two targets for six yards. He'll fill a depth role at receiver for Pittsburgh in Week 3 against the Chargers.

Austin secured one of two targets for six yards during Sunday's 13-6 win over Denver.
Analysis: Austin saw limited looks in the passing game once again Sunday, but he exited Sunday's Week 2 matchup in the fourth quarter after taking a hard hit that drew an unnecessary roughness call, per Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com. Austin went to the blue medical tent before emerging with his helmet on, but he didn't return to the game. Targeted twice against Atlanta
Austin secured one of two targets for seven yards during Sunday's 18-10 win over Atlanta.
Analysis: The Steelers' offense struggled to generate much production during Sunday's low-scoring matchup, but Austin was one of three wide receivers to draw at least one target. Austin impressed during offseason activities, but it's unclear whether he'll develop into a fantasy-relevant option in 2024 after securing 17 of 30 targets for 180 yards and a touchdown while appearing in every game last year.

Paces team in receiving yards
Austin secured two of his three targets for 49 yards during Friday's 20-12 preseason loss to the Texans.
Analysis: Austin had a limited impact on offense in 2023, securing 17 of 30 targets for 180 yards and a touchdown while rushing 11 times for 57 yards and another score. However, the Steelers lost Diontae Johnson, Allen Robinson and Miles Boykin during the offseason, so there should be more targets available during the 2024 campaign. Building momentum
Austin has continued his momentum from spring practices into training camp, according to Alan Saunders of Steelers Now.
Analysis: A 2022 fourth-round pick, Austin missed his entire rookie season with a foot injury and then got just 30 targets and 11 carries last year. He's now part of a wide-open competition for WR roles behind No. 1 George Pickens, with the other leading candidates being Van Jefferson and rookie third-round pick Roman Wilson. Austin is one of the smallest players in the league at 5-foot-9, 162 pounds, but he's reportedly been getting some work on the perimeter in addition to expected slot reps.

Set to compete for WR slotting
As the coming season approaches, Austin is in line to compete with several newcomers for depth chart slotting behind top wideout George Pickens, Chris Ward of Steelersnow.com reports.
Analysis: In the wake of the offseason departures of Diontae Johnson and Allen Robinson, the Steelers added Van Jefferson, Quez Watkins and Scott Miller via free agency and used a third-round draft pick on Roman Wilson. Austin, who was taken in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, is coming off a 2023 regular season in which he caught 17 of his 30 targets for 180 yards and a TD while rushing 11 times for 57 yards and a TD in 17 games. Held in check in 2023
Austin secured 17 of 30 targets for 180 yards and a touchdown while rushing 11 times for 57 yards and a touchdown over 17 games in 2023.
Analysis: Austin had a relatively solid start to the season with double-digit receiving yards in each of the first four games, but he logged single-digit receiving yards in 11 of the final 13 weeks of the year and was held without a catch in five consecutive games to close out the regular season. Austin failed to secure either of his targets while rushing once for seven yards and a touchdown during Saturday's 34-11 win over the Bengals.
Analysis: Austin hasn't been a major part of the Steelers offense for most of the 2023 campaign, but he reached the end zone during Saturday's blowout win on an end-around run in the first half for his first career rushing touchdown. Over 10 appearances since Pittsburgh's Week 6 bye, Austin has secured five of eight targets for 37 yards while rushing eight times for 46 yards and a touchdown.

Will play vs. Cardinals
Austin (ankle) does not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game versus the Cardinals, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: After he missed practice Wednesday, Austin was able to return in a limited capacity Thursday before upgrading to full participation Friday ahead of the Steelers' game in Week 13. The 2022 fourth-rounder probably won't see any target volume Sunday as long as George Pickens, Diontae Johnson and Allen Robinson remain available.

Ramps up activity
Austin (ankle) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Austin logged a DNP on Wednesday, so this is a step in the right direction for the second-year pro. If he can get in a full practice Friday he'll likely avoid an injury designation for a Week 13 matchup with the Cardinals. However, if he remains limited, expect him to head into Sunday with a questionable tag.

Austin (ankle) didn't participate in practice Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Austin sustained the ankle injury in Sunday's 16-10 win over the Bengals and isn't yet healthy enough to return to the field as the Steelers kick off Week 13 prep. Head coach Mike Tomlin noted after Sunday's 16-10 win over the Bengals that Austin sustained an ankle injury late in the game, Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com reports.

Two touches in Week 10
Austin secured his lone target for three yards while rushing once for six yards during the Steelers' 23-19 win over the Packers on Sunday.
Analysis: Austin has recorded at least one rushing attempt in four consecutive games, but his fantasy impact has still been limited. Over his four appearances since the Steelers' Week 6 bye, he's secured three of four targets for 22 yards while rushing six times for 27 yards. Unless several of Pittsburgh's receivers deal with injuries at some point, Austin doesn't have much fantasy relevance.

Logs 10 rushing yards
Austin failed to secure his lone target while rushing twice for 10 yards during the Steelers' 20-16 win over the Titans on Thursday.
Analysis: Austin's snap count remained consistent in Week 9, and he rushed multiple times for a second consecutive week. The 2022 fourth-rounder showed some glimpses of promise earlier this year but has been limited since the team's Week 6 bye, securing two of three targets for 19 yards while rushing five times for 21 yards over the last three matchups.

Limited production Sunday
Austin secured both of his targets for 19 yards while rushing twice for 10 yards during the Steelers' 20-10 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday.
Analysis: Austin saw slightly more playing time Sunday with 16 offensive snaps after being on the field for just seven last week. He tied his second-highest total of the season with four touches, but he was unable to generate much yardage in the defeat. The 2022 fourth-rounder has secured 14 of 24 targets for 162 yards and a touchdown while rushing five times for 14 yards over the first seven games of the season.

Plays seven offensive snaps
Austin rushed once for one yard during the Steelers' 24-17 win over the Rams on Sunday.
Analysis: Austin scored his first career touchdown via a long reception against the Raiders in Week 3, but his workload has dropped off over the last few games. He's been targeted just once over the last two matchups and played a season-low seven snaps Sunday with Diontae Johnson back in action. As long as the Steelers' other receivers remain healthy, Austin is unlikely to be a reliable fantasy option.

No receptions in win
Austin failed to secure his lone target during the Steelers' 17-10 win over the Ravens on Sunday.
Analysis: Austin was held without a catch for the first time this season during the Steelers' Week 5 win, but he saw a slight decrease in playing time since he was evaluated for a concussion during the game before being cleared to return. The 2022 fourth-rounder had an encouraging Week 3 performance by securing two of six targets for 72 yards and a touchdown, but he's had limited fantasy value in his other appearances this year.

Tallies three catches in loss
Austin secured three of five targets for 24 yards while rushing once for five yards during the Steelers' 30-6 loss to the Texans on Sunday.

Should see added opportunities
With Diontae Johnson expected to miss time with a hamstring injury, Austin is on track to see increased opportunities in the Steelers' passing game, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: It remains to be seen how long Johnson will be sidelined, but he's not expected to play Monday night against the Browns, at a minimum. In that context, Austin has a chance to yield fantasy utility in deeper formats, while seeing an increased profile in a WR corps that also includes George Pickens and Allen Robinson. In the Steelers' Week 1 loss to the 49ers, Austin logged 35 snaps (Johnson saw 27 snaps prior to being injured) en route to catching all six of his targets for 37 yards.

Tallies six receptions in Week 1
Austin secured all six of his targets for 37 yards during the Steelers' 30-7 loss to the 49ers on Sunday. He also returned one punt for two yards.
Analysis: Austin led the Steelers' pass catchers in receptions during Sunday's blowout loss, but it's worth noting that three of his catches came in the fourth quarter, after Diontae Johnson (hamstring) was ruled out for the remainder of the game. While Austin's workload was encouraging in Sunday's regular-season opener, his role going forward will likely depend on whether Johnson is forced to miss additional time.

Set for key role
Austin likely will be the Steelers' top return man this season and may also have a role on offense, Dave Bryan of Steelers Depot reports.
Analysis: The 2022 fourth-round pick had a strong, well-rounded preseason, posting a 4-93-1 receiving line and taking five punt returns for 107 yards. Austin can also handle kick returns and will probably get a few carries on end-arounds or jet sweeps, but he's unlikely to play a large number of snaps on offense when Diontae Johnson, George Pickens and Allen Robinson all are healthy -- as is the case heading into Week 1 against the 49ers.

The Steelers acquired Allen Robinson earlier in the offseason, but Austin still appears to be firmly in the mix for the team's slot role ahead of the 2023 season. Done for season
Pittsburgh announced Wednesday that Austin (foot) will remain on injured reserve for the rest of the season, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Austin is ineligible to play in 2022 after his 21-day practice evaluation window came to a close without Pittsburgh activating him from IR and adding him to the 53-man roster. The rookie fourth-round pick returned to practice in early October after missing August and September with a foot injury, but the Steelers apparently decided that Austin won't help them this season. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Austin (foot) will resume practicing Wednesday, starting his 21-day window to return from injured reserve, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Austin didn't play during the preseason due to a foot injury and started the regular season on IR. It's encouraging to see him in line to practice at the earliest possible time, but it remains unclear when he'll be ready for game action. Austin doesn't seem likely to play this Sunday against Jacksonville, though it isn't yet clear how serious his foot injury might be.
