Not targeted against Pittsburgh
Shavers failed to record a single target in Sunday's 26-7 win over the Bills.
Analysis: Shavers led all Bills wide receivers in offensive snaps, handling a 61 percent snap share Sunday. Despite seeing his highest snap share of the season, the 26-year-old wideout was a complete nonfactor in the Bills passing game against the Steelers. Shavers has not been targeted in the past two contests, all but removing him from fantasy consideration as the season winds down. Shavers will look to get something going in Week 14 when the Bills host the Bengals, but he'll be extremely difficult to…read more

No targets Thursday
Shavers wasn't targeted in Thursday's 23-19 loss to the Texans.
Analysis: Shavers played 39 percent of snaps on offense, which was the lowest share among Buffalo's five active wide receivers Thursday. That group didn't include Keon Coleman (coach's decision) for a second consecutive game. Shavers has flashed some big-play ability, but his floor remains low as a depth piece in a Bills offense that has found more success on the ground than through the air lately.

Makes most of added opportunities
Shavers caught four of five targets for 90 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 44-32 win over the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Shavers was thrust into a more significant role due to Keon Coleman (coach's decision after Coleman was late for a team meeting again) being unavailable in Week 11, with the former making the most of his opportunities. The wideout led the team in catches and receiving yards, most notably notching a 43-yard score in the second quarter. Shavers will likely see a drop in usage with the possible return of Coleman in Week 12, but it's possible that he's earned more snaps on offense moving forward.

Just one catch vs. Kansas City
Shavers caught his only target for seven yards in Sunday's 28-21 win over the Chiefs.
Analysis: With Joshua Palmer (knee) sidelined for the second consecutive game Sunday, Shavers had another expanded role, playing nearly half of the Bills' offensive snaps (45 percent). However, this didn't translate to production, as he was targeted just once and finished as Buffalo's ninth-leading receiver in Week 9. Expect the San Diego State product to continue playing a depth role in the Bills' WR room in the Week 10 divisional matchup against the Dolphins.

Season-high five targets in loss
Shavers played 28 of the Bills' 57 snaps on offense and finished with three catches for 27 yards on five targets in Monday's 24-14 loss to the Falcons.
Analysis: With two pass catchers in Curtis Samuel (neck/ribs) and Dalton Kincaid (oblique) inactive for the Week 6 contest and with another in Joshua Palmer (ankle) exiting the contest early, Shavers benefited from an expanded profile in the Buffalo offense. The third-year wideout out of San Diego State hadn't taken the field for more than one-third of Buffalo's offensive plays in any of the first five weeks and drew a combined five targets over that stretch, but he logged nearly half of the snaps Monday…read more

Catches two passes in win
Shavers caught both of his targets for 24 yards in the Bills' win over the Dolphins on Thursday night.
Analysis: They marked Shavers' first catches of the season, as he operated as Buffalo's WR5, seeing 12 offensive snaps behind Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer and Elijah Moore. Shavers has next-to-zero fantasy value.

Makes initial roster
Shavers has made the Bills' initial 53-man roster.
Analysis: The 2022 undrafted free agent is listed as the sixth receiver on the depth chart, so he still has a long way to go to hit the fantasy radar. However, Shavers is coming off a preseason that was as strong as any receiver in the league. With Khalil Shakir (ankle) and Curtis Samuel (hamstring) still banged up, Shavers could start to work his way toward meaningful game action.

Two catches in preseason finale
Shavers brought in two of three targets for 24 yards and a touchdown in the Bills' 23-19 preseason win over the Buccaneers on Saturday night.
Analysis: The undrafted second-year pro put in a solid showing to close out preseason, recording a pair of catches for the third time in as many games. Shavers also got into the end zone for the first time this preseason via an 11-yard grab from Shane Buechele with just over six minutes remaining in the second quarter. The San Diego State product may have done enough to secure a spot on the latter portion of the Bills' wide receiver depth chart, with final roster cuts in coming days set to confirm or…read more

Strong showing Saturday
Shavers caught two of four targets for 70 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to the Giants.
Analysis: The undrafted free agent from 2023 continues to make a good impression, as he's been having a strong camp and led the team in receiving yardage Saturday, which included a 58-yard play where he got behind the defense and Mitchell Trubisky laid it in perfectly. Shavers may be on the roster bubble, but two players ahead of him in Khalil Shakir (ankle) and Curtis Samuel (hamstring) are hurt, so if the Bills end up keeping six receivers, Shavers may just make the final roster.

Back at practice
Shavers (ankle) returned to practice Thursday, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports.
Analysis: Shavers injured his ankle last weekend and had to be carted off the field, but he avoided a serious injury and should be ready to roll for the Bills' preseason opener next week. Shavers has an uphill climb to win a roster spot with Buffalo after he spent most of 2024 on the practice squad.

Avoids serious injury
Shavers is expected to miss only a few days after injuring his ankle Sunday, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Though the wide receiver had to be carted off the field, his injury did not appear to be serious even shortly after it happened, per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com. Shavers spent the 2024 campaign on the Bills' practice squad and earned a reserve/future contract in January. He was elevated for three games last year, seeing 32 offensive snaps and 10 special-teams snaps.

Injures ankle Sunday
Shavers suffered an ankle injury and was carted off during practice Sunday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Shavers' injury was described as a "low ankle sprain" and doesn't seem to be very serious, according to Getzenberg. The undrafted wideout (2024) from San Diego State appeared in the first three regular-season games of his career last year, catching a 69-yard touchdown pass on his lone target of the season in Week 17. He'll be competing for a spot on the practice squad when he gets healthy this training camp.

Remaining in Buffalo
The Bills signed Shavers to a reserve/future contract Tuesday.
Analysis: Shavers made a solid impression during Buffalo's training camp, but ultimately fell short of making the 53-man roster. He spent the entire 2024 campaign on the practice squad and was elevated for three regular-season games, with his lone catch going for a 69-yard touchdown against the Jets in Week 17. Shavers will be on the Bills' 90-man roster at the start of the new league year and will have the opportunity to participate in OTAs, minicamp and training camp ahead of the 2025 campaign.

Reverts to practice squad
Shavers reverted to the Bills' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Analysis: Shavers played 12 snaps (10 on offense, two on special teams) during the Bills' 40-14 win over the Jets on Sunday. Buffalo pulled its starters in the fourth quarter, and Shavers took advantage of the opportunity by taking a pass from Mitchell Trubisky 69 yards for his first touchdown reception of his NFL career. Shavers has been elevated by the Bills three times, which is the maximum a team is allowed to do in the regular season. He would have to be signed to the active roster in order to play…read more

Gets elevated
The Bills elevated Shavers to the 53-man roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Jets.
Analysis: Shavers will be elevated for the third time this season and first time since Week 10. The pass catcher will provide depth at wide receiver behind Khalil Shakir, Amari Cooper, Keon Coleman, Mack Hollins and Curtis Samuel (ribs). He has seen the field for 22 offensive snaps across two games and has yet to see a target.

Reverts to practice squad
Shavers reverted to the Bills' practice squad Monday.
Analysis: Shavers was activated for the second time this season prior to Sunday's win versus the Colts as both Keon Coleman and Amari Cooper were ruled out due to wrist injuries. However, Shavers didn't play any snaps and will now wait for his next chance to be elevated.

Elevated for Week 10 matchup
The Bills elevated Shavers from their practice squad to their active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against Indianapolis, Chris Jenkins of Buffalo's official site reports.
Analysis: This will be Shavers' second elevation of the campaign. He was previously elevated in Week 5, when he tallied 16 offensive snaps without recording a target or touch against Houston. The Bills also elevated receiver KJ Hamler on Saturday. Rookie wideout Keon Coleman has been ruled out against the Colts due to a wrist injury while veteran Amari Cooper is questionable with a wrist issue of his own.

Returns to practice squad
Shavers reverted to the Bills' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Analysis: Shavers was elevated to the active roster ahead of Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Texans, failing to record any stats while playing 16 offensive snaps and eight snaps with the special-teams unit. If Khalil Shakir (ankle) remains unavailable in Week 6, Shavers could be elevated again for the team's matchup with the Jets on Monday Night Football.

Elevated from practice squad
The Bills elevated Shavers from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Chris Brown of the Bills Radio Network reports.
Analysis: Despite a strong training camp, Shavers was unable to crack the Bills' initial 53-man roster, but he opted to stick around on the practice squad. Shavers will provide depth at wide receiver for Sunday's game against the Texans after top pass catcher Khalil Shakir was ruled out due to an ankle injury.

Brought back to practice squad
Shavers was signed to the Bills' practice squad Wednesday, Alec White of the Bills' official site reports.
Analysis: Shavers was one of the brightest performers throughout training camp and the preseason, but in the end the Bills went with experience as they filled out their five-man receiving corps with veterans Mack Hollins and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. The Bills have three receivers on the practice squad -- Deon Cain and KJ Hamler are the other two -- but Shavers likely offers the most upside as an offensive player if one of the regulars goes down in the regular season.

Cut by Bills
Shavers was waived by the Bills on Tuesday, Alec White of the team's official website reports.
Analysis: Shavers signed a reserve/future contract with the team in January, reeling in four receptions for 28 yards during the preseason. The wide receiver spent the entirety of the 2023 season with Buffalo's practice squad, and if he clears waivers, he will likely begin the 2024 campaign with the practice squad once again.

Turning heads at camp
Shavers has been making a good impressions throughout camp, Dorian Alerte of the Bills' official site reports. Said coach Sean McDermott this week, "One of the first players in the building, one of the last to leave. Knows what we're doing offensively, systematically. When you look up consistent in the dictionary like his face shows up in my mind because he's so consistent, and at a young age. I have a lot of respect and appreciation for that."
Analysis: The undrafted free agent from 2023 is still far down the depth chart, but the Bills don't really seem married to anybody outside the top three of Khalil Shakir, second-round rookie Keon Coleman and veteran Curtis Samuel. Shavers offers good special-teams assets, so we'll see if he can start to leapfrom some of the folks ahead of him throughout the preseason.

Sticking with Bills
Buffalo signed Shavers to a reserve/future contract Monday.
Analysis: Shavers spent the entire season on the Bills' practice squad, but he'll now have an opportunity to compete for a spot on their 53-man roster for 2024. He caught 38 passes for 643 yards and three touchdowns at San Diego State in 2022.
