- Troy Reeder LB-LAR4/10, 11:43 am
The Rams re-signed Reeder (hamstring)...
The Rams re-signed Reeder (hamstring) to a one-year contract Thursday.
Analysis: Reeder earned a starting role at inside linebacker to kick off the 2024 campaign, but a hamstring injury sustained Week 7 limited him to just six appearances (all starts) on the season. Now heading into his age-31 season, the decision to re-sign with Los Angeles provides Reeder another chance at earning a starting role on defense. Nate Landman, Omar Speights and Jaylen McCollough all represent competition at the linebacker position.
- Spencer Shrader K-KC4/10, 10:06 am
Shrader is the only remaining kicker...
Shrader is the only remaining kicker on Indianapolis' roster following the release of Matt Gay on Thursday.
Analysis: Shrader inked a two-year deal with the Colts mid-March after a tumultuous rookie campaign, in which he appeared in four combined games between Indianapolis, Kansas City and the Jets. He converted all five of his field-goal tries and all nine extra-point attempts across those appearances. Gay, meanwhile, went 31 for 37 on field-goal tries across 16 regular-season appearances with the Colts, with all six misses coming from 50-plus yards out. Indianapolis will doubtless bring in further options to compete with Shrader this offseason, but Gay's release provides him a clear path to securing the No. 1 job.
- Matt Gay K-IND4/10, 9:42 am
The Colts released Gay on Thursday.
The Colts released Gay on Thursday.
Analysis: Gay inked a four-year, $22.5 million deal with Indianapolis in 2023 and was reliable as a kicker from inside 50 in 2024, so his release comes as a surprise. The decision to move on from Gay is seemingly related to the fact that he missed six of his nine field-goal attempts from 50-plus yards out last year, recording an 80 percent conversion rate overall (31 of 37) across 16 regular-season appearances. The transaction leaves Spencer Shrader as the only kicker on the Colts' roster.
- Allen Lazard WR-NYJ4/10, 6:24 am
Lazard and the Jets have agreed...
Lazard and the Jets have agreed to reduce his 2025 salary from $11 million to $2.5 million, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: It's the third season of a four-year contract that now includes $1.75 million guaranteed for 2025, after Lazard barely played in 2023 but rebounded last season to score six touchdowns in 12 games (10 starts). He turned 29 in December and may now end up in an open competition for WR roles behind No. 1 Garrett Wilson. This will be Lazard's first season playing for a team that doesn't have QB Aaron Rodgers.
- Trevor Lawrence QB-JAX4/9, 4:58 pm
Lawrence (shoulder) will be limited during...
Lawrence (shoulder) will be limited during the spring as he continues to recover from AC joint surgery, Mike DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Lawrence underwent surgery on his left, non-throwing shoulder Dec. 17 and was in a sling until late January. While the Jaguars plan to bring him along slowly, he's expected to be fully cleared for the start of training camp later this summer. "We're optimistic that we'll get there in terms of where we need to go," coach Liam Coen said Wednesday. "He'll be on a pitch count for those things. In terms of the where he has to get to, because he has little touch points he needs to reach before he can obviously get out onto the grass and do it full speed, everything's moving forward. He feels really good right now, so excited about that." Lawrence relayed that he's "very optimistic" he'll be ready well ahead of Week 1.
