The Packers waived Carlson on Tuesday, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Carlson missed seven field-goal attempts and six extra-point tries in 19 games last season, including playoffs, failing to meet expectations after Green Bay took him in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The Packers have since brought in Greg Joseph and Alex Hale for competition, with Joseph now seemingly set to enter Week 1 as the team's placekicker. Carlson is unlikely to find a starting job elsewhere but could get a spot on a practice squad, possibly even back in Green Bay.

Analysis: Accuracy was an issue for Carlson in his rookie season but not Saturday, as he made field goals from 46 and 33 yards as well as his lone extra-point attempt. Carlson remains locked in a competition with Greg Joseph for Green Bay's kicker job, and although the latter has fared a bit better during training camp, Carlson still has the advantage of having been selected by Green Bay in the sixth round of the 2023 draft.

In danger of losing job?
Fellow kicker Greg Joseph has been more accurate than Carlson during open practices this summer, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The Packers brought in veteran competition this offseason after Carlson, a 2023 sixth-round pick, missed seven field-goal attempts and six PATs in 19 games (including playoffs) during his rookie campaign. Joseph has made 29 of 31 kicks in practices open to reporters at training camp, while Carlson is 25-for-31. That said, Joseph was also far from spectacular last year, going 24-for-30 on field-goal attempts for the division-rival Vikings -- his third straight year missing at least five FGAs.

Analysis: Carlson missed five extra-point tries during the regular season, and he misfired once again in Green Bay's playoff opener. Analysis: Carlson -- in terms of both opportunities and successes -- matched his Week 16 line in Sunday's contest, with the exception being neither of his field goals came from more than 37 yards out.
