Signs with Bears' practice squad
The Bears signed Reed to the practice squad Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Reed was unable to beat out Tyson Bagent for the backup quarterback job behind Caleb Williams. However, Reed will stick around on the practice squad and will serve as the emergency quarterback unless Chicago picks up another signal caller before Week 1 against Tennessee.

Let go by Chicago
The Bears waived Reed on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Reed signed with the Bears in April as an undrafted free agent out of Western Kentucky. He was competing against Tyson Bagent during offseason workouts and training camp for the backup quarterback job behind 2024 first overall pick Caleb Williams. Across three preseason outings, Reed completed 12 of 16 pass attempts for 123 yards and one touchdown. He could elect to stick around on Chicago's practice squad, assuming he clears waivers.
