Quiet in Week 16 loss
Bellinger caught one of two targets for five yards in Sunday's 34-7 defeat against Atlanta.
Analysis: Giants quarterback Drew Lock took to the air 39 times in the loss, but 26 of those targets went to either Malik Nabers (14) or Wan'Dale Robinson (12). That left little opportunity for the rest of New York's pass catchers, and Bellinger finished with his fewest receptions, targets and receiving yards since taking over as the team's starter in place of the injured Theo Johnson (foot) in Week 14. The Giants have been playing from behind most games throughout the season, which often leads to…read more

Nabs all three targets Week 15
Bellinger caught all three of his targets for 35 yards Sunday in a 35-14 loss to Baltimore.
Analysis: Bellinger's target and reception counts tied for third most on the team, and he ranked third in receiving yards behind Malik Nabers (82) and Wan'Dale Robinson (38). With Theo Johnson (foot) out for the season, Bellinger has moved into a starting role and has eight catches for 80 yards over his past two contests. New York's quarterback situation is messy with Drew Lock (heel/elbow) missing Sunday's game and Tommy DeVito leaving late in the second quarter due to a concussion, as journeyman Tim…read more

Solid numbers as starter
Bellinger caught five of seven targets for 45 yards in Sunday's 14-11 loss to the Saints.
Analysis: With rookie Theo Johnson (foot) lost for the season, Bellinger stepped back into the starting TE role and put together his best performance of the campaign, although it was a low bar to clear -- he'd seen only three targets total heading into Sunday's game. Bellinger will look to stay productive in Week 15 against the Ravens.

Nabs one catch in Week 3 victory
Bellinger caught his only target for 17 yards against Cleveland in Sunday's 21-15 win.
Analysis: Bellinger's lone target and reception went for 17 yards early in the third quarter. While he did log a season-high 26 offensive snaps, that number was well behind the 58 offensive snaps accumulated by No. 1 tight end Theo Johnson. Overall, Bellinger has just two catches (both of which he has caught for 20 total yards) through three weeks, making him a non-factor in fantasy.

Clear backup in Week 1
Bellinger caught his only target for three yards in Sunday's loss to the Vikings.
Analysis: Bellinger was listed as New York's No. 1 tight end on the team's first unofficial depth chart during the preseason and split first-team reps with rookie Theo Johnson throughout training camp, but he was clearly behind Johnson in the pecking order Sunday. While Bellinger logged just 16 offensive snaps (23 percent of the team's total), Johnson tallied 61 (86 percent), and even Chris Manhertz (20 offensive snaps) was on the field more often than Bellinger. One catch in preseason opener
Bellinger caught one of two targets for seven yards in Thursday's 14-3 preseason win over the Lions.
Analysis: Bellinger wasn't heavily involved but neither was rookie fourth-round pick Theo Johnson, who wasn't targeted Thursday. Tyree Jackson was the Giants' most productive tight end Thursday with two catches for 34 yards, but Bellinger and Johnson have been splitting first-team reps in practice and remain on track to lead the position come the regular season. New York's next preseason game will be in Houston next Saturday.

Listed first on initial depth chart
Bellinger is listed as the No. 1 tight end on the Giants' first unofficial depth chart, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: With Darren Waller deciding to retire in the offseason, New York's starting tight end role is up for grabs. It makes sense for Bellinger to work in that capacity given that he was the starter during his rookie campaign before Waller was brought into the fold, but -- despite drawing positive reviews from the team's coaching staff -- he was only modestly productive with 30 receptions for 268 yards and two touchdowns over 12 regular-season games. Fine for start of camp
Bellinger (undisclosed) has been cleared to practice at the start of Giants training camp this week, Dan Salomone of the team's official website reports.
Analysis: Bellinger missed some work during the spring with an undisclosed injury, but he's ready to roll for the start of training camp. Following the retirement of Darren Waller earlier this summer, Bellinger is penciled in atop the depth chart at tight end for the G-Men. Bellinger has 55 catches for 523 yards and two touchdowns through two NFL seasons and is unlikely to factor into the TE1 fantasy discussion after going scoreless on 25 grabs last year. Dealing with minor injury
Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Wednesday that Bellinger has been limited during spring practices due to an undisclosed injury, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Bellinger's outlook for 2024 improved earlier this week after incumbent starter Darren Waller announced his retirement Monday, leaving Bellinger as the tentative No. 1 option on the depth chart at tight end. The Giants also have rookie fourth-round pick Theo Johnson as a potential receiving threat at the position, but Bellinger should handle most of the first-team reps at the start of training camp. Competing with rookie to start
Bellinger and rookie Theo Johnson will compete to be the Giants' top tight end after Darren Waller decided to retire, Darryl Slater of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Bellinger and Johnson both are fourth-round picks with impressive physical specs and less impressive college production. Bellinger has a huge advantage in terms of NFL experience, having played 1,262 snaps on offense through two seasons, including 12 instances taking more than 80 percent of snaps in a game (mostly games that Waller missed). The problem is that Bellinger hasn't been much of a receiving threat even with 4.63 speed, catching 55 passes for 523 yards and two touchdowns while drawing…read more

Modest numbers as No. 2 tight end
Bellinger didn't draw a target across 53 snaps on offense in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Eagles.
Analysis: Bellinger finished the regular season with 25 catches on 28 targets for 255 yards and no touchdowns over 17 contests. From a production standpoint, Bellinger was more or less in line with his numbers from his 2022 rookie campaign, when he posted 30 catches for 268 yards and a pair of scores. However, the tight end played in five more contests this season, and he took a step back on the depth chart after New York acquired Darren Waller in the offseason. Posts decent numbers again Week 17
Bellinger finished Sunday's loss to the Rams with four catches on four targets for 39 yards.
Analysis: Darren Waller logged more targets (six), catches (five) and yards (51) than Bellinger, but the latter still had a reasonably productive performance. Bellinger's longest catch went for 18 yards, and he also had a 14-yard reception that he immediately followed with a nine-yard catch on the following play. Outgains Waller in Week 16 loss
Bellinger finished Monday's loss to the Eagles with four catches on five targets for 43 yards.
Analysis: Primary tight end Darren Waller was healthy for the contest, though he and Bellinger logged an equal number of offensive snaps (40). Bellinger was somewhat surprisingly the more productive pass catcher, finishing second on New York in both receptions (four) and receiving yards (43). The former total was a season high for Bellinger, while the latter tied a season-best mark. Though this was Bellinger's best game of the season, Waller remains the better option for fantasy purposes.

Nabs two catches as Waller's backup
Bellinger caught both of his targets or 13 yards in Sunday's 24-6 Week 15 loss to New Orleans.
Analysis: Bellinger worked as New York's starting tight end while Waller was on IR with a hamstring injury between Week 9 and Week 14, but he returned to a backup role with the latter returning Sunday. Bellinger averaged a modest 2.2 receptions for 27.6 yards during his five-game starting stint, and he wasn't far off those numbers while working behind Waller against the Saints. Nabs two caches in Week 14 win
Bellinger caught both of his targets for 15 yards Monday in a 24-22 win over the Packers.
Analysis: Bellinger saw modest opportunity in the contest, but he still finished third on the Giants in receiving yards. The second-year tight end continues to fill in for the injured Darren Waller (hamstring, IR), though Bellinger hasn't come close to matching Waller's pass-catching prowess, as he hasn't surpassed three receptions in any game so far this season. Suiting up Monday
Bellinger (illness) is active for Monday's contest against the Packers, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: The Giants held Bellinger out of drills Friday and Saturday due to an illness and handed him a questionable designation for Week 14. In the lead up to Monday's game, the team didn't elevate a tight end from the practice squad, indicating that Bellinger was in line to be available. Analysis: Bellinger has registered close to 90 percent of the team's offensive snaps dating back to Week 8, so if he's unable to go it would be a major strain on the team's tight end depth. Expect Lawrence Cager to receive the bulk of the opportunities if the 23-year-old is unable to play.

Bellinger didn't practice Friday due to an illness, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: Assuming the ailment isn't too significant, Bellinger could still return to the field Saturday for the Giants' final Week 14 practice, which would clear up any concern about his status heading into Monday's game against Green Bay. While Darren Waller (hamstring) has been sidelined for the Giants' last four games before the team's Week 13 bye, Bellinger had served as New York's top tight end and compiled a 9-123-0 receiving line on 10 targets. Posts 38 yards in Week 11 win
Bellinger caught all three of his targets for 38 yards Sunday in a 31-19 victory versus the Commanders.
Analysis: Bellinger finished third on the Giants in receiving yards, with his 26-yard reception early in the fourth quarter accounting for most of his total and helping to set up a Saquon Barkley receiving touchdown. Bellinger has stepped in as New York's top tight end over the past three weeks due to Darren Waller (hamstring) being on IR, and he's acquitted himself fairly well with an average of 2.7 catches for 38.3 yards over that span. Bellinger caught two of three targets for 34 yards in Sunday's 49-17 loss to the Cowboys.
Analysis: The tight end actually led the Giants in receiving yards on the day, as undrafted rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito managed only 86 passing yards. Bellinger also lost a chance to have a better fantasy day when No. 2 TE Lawrence Cager caught a 10-yard touchdown in the second half. Bellinger is lined up to work as the Giants' starting tight end for an extended period, with Darren Waller (hamstring) a candidate to miss several weeks, per Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record.
Analysis: Bellinger worked almost exclusively as a starter as a rookie last season, but he's taken a back seat for the most part in 2023 with New York signing Waller in the offseason. However, Waller suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday's loss to the Jets and has indicated that he's likely to miss multiple contests. Goes without target Sunday
Bellinger went without a target while playing 39 of the Giants' 77 snaps on offense in Sunday's 14-9 loss to the Bills.
Analysis: Sunday's game marked just the second time all season that Bellinger failed to draw a target. Aside from the Giants' Week 4 loss to the Seahawks in which he exited early due to injury, Bellinger has played at least 35 percent of the team's snaps on offense in every contest. However, so long as top tight end Darren Waller is available, Bellinger is likely to operate mainly as a blocker when he takes the field.

Analysis: Bellinger exited early in Monday's 24-3 loss to the Seahawks with the knee injury and was a limited practice participant throughout Week 5 prep, but he evidently made enough progress for the Giants to feel comfortable keeping him active Sunday. Analysis: Bellinger was a limited participant in Thursday's practice after popping up on the Giants' injury report, though when he sustained the neck injury is unclear. Slightly increases production
Bellinger hauled in all three of his targets for 42 yards Sunday in the Giants' Week 17 win over Indianapolis.
Analysis: Bellinger tied for second on New York in receiving yardage with a total that established a new career-high mark. The bulk of the rookie tight end's production came on a 24-yard reception in the second quarter that took the ball to the Colts' seven-yard line and helped set up an Isaiah Hodgins receiving touchdown. There appears to be some concern about his status for Week 15, though a clearer picture of his availability may be shown by this week's practice reports. If Bellinger misses Sunday's game against Washington, Nick Vannett likely would take over the starting role.

Ruled out of Sunday's game
Bellinger won't return to Sunday's game versus the Eagles due to a rib injury, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Bellinger exited the contest in the third quarter but was able to get back on the field for the Giants' first drive of the fourth. However, the rib issue that initially forced him to the sideline will keep him there for the rest of Week 14, from which he'll emerge with three catches (on three targets) for 19 yards. Bellinger's next chance to play will arrive next Sunday at Washington.

Bellinger (ribs) returned to Sunday's game against the Eagles, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Analysis: The rookie tight end caught a pass early in the second quarter and was slow to get up but stayed in the game until he left in the second half with a rib injury, per Dan Duggan of The Athletic. Totals five catches in return
Bellinger caught all five of his targets for 24 yards Sunday in the Giants' 20-20 tie with Washington.
Analysis: Playing in his first game since suffering a fractured left eye socket against Jacksonville in Week 7, Bellinger tied his career-best mark with five catches and finished in a tie for third on the team with five targets. The rookie tight end was used exclusively as a short-yardage option -- his longest gain went for just eight yards -- but it was still promising to see his level of involvement after the long layoff. Back in action Sunday
Bellinger (eye) is active for Sunday's game versus the Commanders.
Analysis: After enduring a brutal fracture to his left eye socket back in Week 7 and undergoing surgery to repair it, Bellinger has progressed enough for the Giants to clear him to return. He'll thus miss four games as a result, and the team seemingly is confident he'll be able to handle most of the TE reps after making Lawrence Cager a healthy scratch Sunday. Prior to getting injured, Bellinger scored two touchdowns on 18 targets, four of which occurred in the red zone.

Drawing closer to return
Bellinger (eye) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus the Commanders, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
Analysis: Bellinger isn't in the clear yet as he draws closer to the end of his recovery from the fractured left eye socket that he sustained back in Week 7. So far, he's missed four games as a result of the injury and subsequent surgery, but three capped practices in a row this week at least has given him a chance to return Sunday. If the Giants clear him ahead of a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, Bellinger may be eased in due to the relatively steady play of fellow tight end Lawrence Cager over the last three…read more

Bellinger (eye) was listed as limited on Thursday's estimated injury report, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: Bellinger has been in recovery mode since suffering a fractured left eye socket Week 7. He resumed catching passes during Week 11 prep, which continued into last week. The rookie fourth-rounder then logged his first practice since sustaining the injury Wednesday, participating in a limited capacity. Limited to begin Week 13
Bellinger (eye) was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
Analysis: Bellinger took part in practice for the first time since Week 7, after missing the Giants' past four games while recovering from surgery to address a fractured left eye socket. Head coach Brian Daboll expressed optimism Tuesday that Bellinger would be able to return to the lineup Sunday against the Commanders, and the rookie tight end took a positive step forward in that regard by getting back on the field, even if only in a limited capacity. Week 13 return remains possible
Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Tuesday that he's optimistic that Bellinger (eye) will be available for Sunday's game against the Commanders, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Though Daboll didn't offer many specifics on the matter, he indicated that Bellinger is "trending in the right direction" as the Week 13 game approaches. Before missing the Giants' past four games with a fractured eye socket, Bellinger had been serving as the team's top tight end, and he'll likely reclaim that role once he receives full medical clearance. Could return Sunday
Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Friday that Bellinger (eye) may be able to return to action Week 13 against Washington, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
Analysis: Bellinger has been out since suffering a fractured eye socket Oct. 24 against Jacksonville, though he was not placed on IR. The original timeframe for his return was estimated to be 4-to-6 weeks, and he's coming up on the tail end of that range. Though Bellinger has caught passes the last two weeks, he didn't officially participate in any practices. He'll need to do so this week to have a chance of playing Sunday.

Analysis: Bellinger will miss a fourth game in a row due to a fractured left eye socket. In Bellinger's place, the Giants will continue to roll with Lawrence Cager at tight end, backed up by Tanner Hudson and Chris Myarick.

Bellinger (eye) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's estimated injury report, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: The Giants held a walkthrough Monday, so the injury report is merely an estimate. Regardless, it's concerning to see Bellinger remain unavailable due a fractured left eye socket. The rookie tight end will have two more opportunities to return to practice before the team needs to make a decision on his status for Thursday's matchup against Dallas, but as of now, it appears he's trending toward a fifth straight absence.

Ruled out for Week 11
Coach Brian Daboll said Friday that Bellinger (eye) is ruled out for Sunday's game against Detroit, Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Bellinger will miss a fourth straight contest due to a fractured left eye socket, while also having had the Giants' bye to recover. The rookie tight end was able to resume catching passes Wednesday, a sign that he continues to progress in the right direction, but New York will have to rely on Lawrence Cager, Tanner Hudson and Chris Myarick to hold down the fort at tight end for at least one more week. Catches passes Wednesday
Bellinger (eye), who didn't practice Wednesday, was able to catch passes on the side while wearing a protective visor on his helmet, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Since fracturing his left eye socket Week 7, Bellinger has missed two games sandwiched around the Giants' Week 9 bye. The swelling around and the double vision within the eye in question has nearly subsided, and the next step in Bellinger's recovery is an upcoming visit to a specialist, which may happen by the end of this week, per Stapleton. Bellinger (eye) said Wednesday that he's improving and will play again this season, but still needs more time to heal, Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports.
Analysis: The tight end worked with trainers off to the side at practices Tuesday and Wednesday, but he'll miss at least one more game coming out of the Week 9 bye. Analysis: Surgery was ordered up for the rookie tight end after he suffered the injury when he was poked in the eye during the Giants' Week 7 win over the Jaguars. According to Fowler, Bellinger believes he'll be able to return to the field in 2-to-6 weeks, but prior reports have suggested a 4-to-6-week timeline may be more realistic. Rejoins teammates for trip home
Coach Brian Daboll said Bellinger (eye) is back with the Giants after Sunday's win at Jacksonville, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
Analysis: Bellinger exited the contest after he was poked in the eye during his only catch (a 13-yarder) just before halftime, requiring a cart to get the locker room. He was seen with a lot of blood on the front of his jersey, and Daboll also told Vacchiano afterward that Bellinger's "eye looks terrible right now." Leads NY pass catchers in win
Bellinger tallied five catches on five targets for 38 yards while scoring a touchdown in a 24-20 victory versus the Ravens in Week 6.
Analysis: Bellinger's longest reception of the day went for a modest 10 yards, but he still led the Giants with 38 receiving yards in the win. His five catches were a season high, and he narrowly fell short of his top mark of 40 receiving yards set in Week 3 against Dallas. Bellinger recorded two receptions on three targets for 11 yards in Sunday's 27-22 win over the Packers. He added one rush for two yards and a touchdown.
Analysis: Bellinger remained involved in the Gaints' offense, though most of the team's pass catchers were limited by the team's focus on the rushing attack. In addition to recording multiple receptions for the third straight game, he also tallied a two-yard rushing touchdown just before halftime. Bellinger recorded three catches on three targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 20-12 win over the Bears.
Analysis: Bellinger's production won't jump off the stat sheet, but he tied for the team lead with three targets and led the team in receptions and yards. The Giants attempted only 16 passes in the game, limiting the potential production of all pass catchers. However, Bellinger appears to be developing some rapport with Daniel Jones (ankle), as he's tallied seven catches for 63 yards combined across his last two games.

Involvement ticks up
Bellinger recorded four receptions on five targets for 40 yards in Monday's 23-16 loss to the Cowboys.
Analysis: Bellinger had only one target through two games to begin his rookie season, but he saw a significant jump in his role against Dallas. He finished tied for second on the team in targets and also showed big-play ability by hauling in a 20-yard reception midway through the first quarter. The Giants are in need of playmakers to complement Saquon Barkley, so it's possible that Bellinger's role in the offense continues to expand.

Hauls in first career TD
Bellinger caught his lone target for a 16-yard touchdown Sunday in a 19-16 win versus the Panthers.
Analysis: Bellinger logged the most snaps (42) among Giants tight ends in the victory, though Tanner Hudson led the group with three targets, two catches and 22 yards. Bellinger made the biggest impact, however, hauling in a Daniel Jones dumpoff in the third quarter and taking it 16 yards to pay dirt. Despite the score, Bellinger isn't a particularly appealing option in fantasy given that he has just one target over his first two contests.

Not listed on Week 1 injury report
Bellinger (concussion) isn't listed on the injury report for Sunday's game in Tennessee, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: Bellinger didn't take long to pass through concussion protocol after suffering the head injury Aug. 28 in the Giants' final preseason game. He earned most of the first-team snaps at tight end throughout the preseason, and while he didn't do much with them, Bellinger could be the Week 1 starter at what looks like the team's weakest position. Bellinger is making progress in the concussion protocol, with his work at Wednesday's practice including running on the side, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Bellinger suffered the concussion Sunday and has another week and a half to get ready for the Giants' Sept. 11 season opener against the Titans. The fourth-round rookie worked with the starting offense throughout the preseason and appears to be the top option in arguably the weakest tight-end room in the league.

Progressing in recovery
Bellinger (concussion) appears to be moving through the concussion protocol rapidly, Art Stapleton of The Record Sports reports, as the tight end was spotted on the field during Tuesday's practice.
Analysis: Concussions can have varying severities and return timelines, but Bellinger's appears to be mild considering he was able to take the field just two days after the injury, even if he wasn't doing much during the portion of practice available to the media. While he has yet to officially get the green light, it seems likely that the rookie fourth-round pick will be cleared in time to suit up for the Giants' Sept. 11 season opener in Tennessee.

Bellinger caught two of three targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 25-22 preseason win over the Bengals.
Analysis: On the bright side, Bellinger got the start and seems to be the top option on New York's tight end depth chart. The fourth-round pick out of San Diego State made a rookie mistake in this one, though, as he had a catchable pass from starting quarterback Daniel Jones bounce off his hands and into those of Bengals safety Daxton Hill for an interception. Lands on PUP list
The Giants placed Bellinger (quadriceps) on the physically unable to perform list Thursday, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Analysis: Rookies reported for New York's training camp Tuesday, so Bellinger may have sustained his quad injury in the interval since. The 2022 fourth-round pick worked predominantly with the first team during spring practices, and he appears to have a legitimate shot at securing the No. 1 role in the Giants' tight end room. Of course, if Bellinger misses a substantial amount of practices time due to injury this offseason, his chances of starting could significantly dip.
